The ASUS ROG Phone 3: A Smartphone with Impressive Specifications and Features

As I unboxed the ASUS ROG Phone 3, I was excited to see what this powerful smartphone had to offer. The phone has a sleek design and is certainly on the heavier side, weighing in at 238 grams due to its large battery capacity of 6000 milliampere-hour (mAh). However, with specs that include a Snapdragon 865+ processor, DDR LPDDR4 RAM, and a triple-camera setup, I was eager to put this phone through its paces.

One of the standout features of the ROG Phone 3 is its camera system. The main camera is equipped with a 64-megapixel sensor, while the second camera is a 16-megapixel wide-angle lens. There's also a macro lens that allows for extreme close-up shots. I was impressed to see that this phone has a fingerprint scanner on the back, which can be used as an additional security feature.

I decided to enable the "Always-On Display" feature, which allows you to view information such as the time and date on the screen even when the phone is locked. This feature can be customized to show different information depending on your preferences. I also experimented with the macro lens, which worked surprisingly well in taking clear photos of small objects.

Camera Samples and Front-Facing Camera

I decided to take some sample photos using the ROG Phone 3's camera system. In outdoor conditions, the results were impressive, with clear images that captured a wide range of colors. The portrait mode also worked well, allowing for beautiful bokeh effects and crisp facial details. I was pleased to see that the phone's front-facing camera is capable of producing high-quality selfies.

I also took some samples in indoor lighting, using both regular shots and portrait mode. The results were consistent with my expectations, showing clear images that accurately represented the scene. Finally, I experimented with the macro lens, taking close-up photos of small objects such as coins and other tiny items.

Unfortunately, I wasn't able to get a hands-on feel for the ROG Phone 3's performance without waiting for it to launch. A starting price of below ₹50,000 would be an excellent move by ASUS, making this phone more accessible to a wider range of consumers.

to open it and here the phone is revealed let me just take it out as you can see the phone is here let me take this hour we'll come back to the phone later and if you go here over the back you get this air cooler I don't think so this will be there in the regular Indian unit - an international one so I'm not very sure if this will be there in the box but yeah this is the international unit that I have so I'm having it I will also be getting the Indian unit later on guys so looks like a case is bundled in the box so that's actually nice or you're getting the case so again ROG branded KP are getting and what else is this some ejector - we are getting again it looks very funky and some stickers so we are getting stickers also on this so getting a lot of things and let's move further down and here is your regular stuff you have to figure out what is this now you're getting a USP - 3.5 mm dongle on this one the charger is there and this is supposed to be the 30 watt fast charger and yes we would be getting the study watt fast charger in the so what answer apart from this you get the up USB type-c cable so that's what we have in the box certainly very interesting packaging so I'll just keep this to the side for now so guys this is the device itself and it's sort of similar to the Oasis ROG phone - but different in few aspects I would say size is what was the same but now we are having a triple camera if you remember the ROG phone - had a dual camera and the back is also a little bit different let's just apply this case so this is how it will look with the case that is supplied in the box so let me just take this out and let's have a physical overview again guys metallic body that we are getting that is glass Prentiss class I believe to be Gorilla Glass six again as I told you this is metallic we have the volume rocker and here and here we have the eight triggers and now we have the new thing called a triggers 3 which adds you more functionality while you are doing games for example if you have played control game l1 l2 + r1 r2 you can actually map on this one so whatever occurs power on/off button looks like a secondary noise map noise cancellation microphone the other in trigger here bottom we have the type C port again one more microphone I miss the fact that 3.5 mm headphone jack is missing so yeah and here this is again if you notice this is also a USB port you can take it out and you can even charge and some of the other accessories like coolers etc what they have will be attached here so we have a rubber gasket for that and here is your simply let's look at the symmetry on this one and have a look so it's dual nanos and guys no expansion of micro SD card on this one and front if you look here and here actually it's a dual Asterius because the origin phone two had very powerful speakers so let's see if there were proof on that one front camera I believe is 24 so let's do one thing let's try to boot this up and by the time it actually boots up and I set it up here is a configuration overview this asus rog phone 3 is having a six point five nine inch full HD plus AMOLED screen which is actually a hundred and forty four Hertz refresh rate but 270 hertz touch response it's protected by Gorilla Glass six sparked by the new Snapdragon 865 plus octa-core processor clocked at 3.1 gigahertz it comes with eight or twelve gigabytes of RAM that sold in India internationally you also get a 16 gigabyte RAM variant and it's lpddr4 am in terms of storage in India will be getting at 128 or 256 gigabytes of storage which is ufs 3.1 it also has 25 moving second touch latency which is the lowest it also has any triggers three-way to the camera it's a triple rate camera setup the main camera is the Sony imx6 86 64 mega pixel then we have a 13 megapixel that's ultra wide and then we also have a new macro camera moving to the front-facing camera it's a 24 megapixel it's having a six thousand milliamp hour battery with 30 watt fast charging it also has stereo speakers in Wi-Fi six support so guys I have set up the four so let's have a first look at this one and as you can see the dimensions are actually exactly similar to the asus rog phone - so if you have some of those keeping accessories kotti hard they will actually work even with this one and again we have the chin and the top in the bottom and that's because of the speakers we will also look at this because guys and the big thing with this one is that this one is having that 144 hertz refresh mean we have seen 19 and 20 now this is 144 as it's a gaming centric phone but the touch is actually 270 Hertz and it so says this one the touch latency when you touch there's always a latency in every phone this one is just 25 milliseconds which is the lowest in the world so again very responsive and if you go to the display over here as you can see the refresh rate right now it's an auto so it automatically detects of what you want so it's an app term you could say but you can set it on 100 24:00 also all the time and I have to say guys my camera will not capture this and you know how do you know but notice how butter smooth the animations are and if you are moving from let's say sixty Hertz you will immediately notice for example I was using the Samsung Galaxy Note tonight which is just a 60 Hertz screen and here directly on 1:44 everything feels very very fluent but I would say best is to keep it on or to so that it doesn't drain the battery but I'll keep it on 144 itself and test how is the battery because it has that mass of six thousand milliamp hour of battery so let's just leave it on that and this the default theme that you are getting guys and if we go to about the phone system and system update about the phone it's on Android 10 obviously and we have got a security update and looks like we should also be getting the latest update very soon let's just get out of this one and let's just go back so this is what we have and again almost stock Android but yeah again as it's a gaming phone we have some extra functionality but again very close to stock as you can see and even that digital well-being and all those things that you expect we have some advanced a mobile genie and all those things also because it's a gaming phone and this a trigger also you have to enable it from here so we have those functionality and again guys you can use it definitely as a normal phone but this is a gaming centric phone also so we also have that X mode over here while you're playing games and as you can see if you invoke that everything changes at or optimize it for gaming and all those things so but you just click it back and goes back to the regular mode and very very smooth I'm also curious to see how is the speaker so let's just test it out I'm just going to play back one of my own videos let's just go with this Wi-Fi 6 explain and by the way guys this also has Wi-Fi 6 support one of my summers that's loud that's loud and stereo separation let me skip this one over it hi guys this is Ethan in this video let's talk about Wi-Fi because so guys as you heard that the speakers are actually really loud and the advantage is that one speaker is here one speaker is here so you do get that stereo separation so that's regarding those speakers and we also have this always odd feature by default it's not enabled but in the display settings you can enable it and it has this fingerprint scanner as you can see let's try it again over here and again as you can see it unlocks quickly and I believe you the DDR lpddr4 amp which is actually almost what people are not forty actually fifty percent faster than the lpddr4 Ram that we have seen in most smartphones and now again cameras are also have become very important and I'm surprised that they went with the triple camera setup this time at the main is 64 has it your new second and three is 13 megapixel ultra wide and now we also have a macro lens so let's look at that one and let's see a target location no thanks so this is the interface I don't think so the interface has changed a lot so you have this and you have this Ultra wide and again this processor is so fast and that storage just clicked and you get the effect and again from here you can move between the photo mode portrait mode and all those things you get on a time so you can adjust yeah how much you want as you can see can adjust a background blur for me here I'll take some samples later on and we have the macro yeah which is a new thing the ROG phone to didn't have it as you can see and go really close with the macro mode and we also have the pro mode and the regular stuff like what do you say slow motion time-lapse so okay this is nice so we have the pro mode even in the video so you have the manual controls with this one and like this and front that camera I believe it was a 24 megapixel so again very fast because I have the portrait mode and here also you can adjust how much background blur you want so that's nice and let me do one thing let me actually take some sample shots so that you have a better idea regarding the camera so here are the samples and outdoor conditions the samples look to be actually good and I would say the colors are very close to what we see in reality it's not exaggerating the colors or anything like that and as you can see
