PLAID WEEK DAY 1 _ Plaid Christmas Room _ 2016

Decorating My Reading Room with Plaid: Day One

I wanted to start off my plaid week by decorating what I call my reading room and, of course, giving it my plaid touch. Let's go ahead and get started and I'll see you guys tomorrow for plaid day two. The very first thing that what I do when I decorate is I have to just kind of set the tone with music or a movie. And, in this case, I am going to go to Netflix and pick out "Christmas with the Cranks" - it's streaming right now, and it just makes decorating very very fun and festive.

The second thing I like to do is actually clean my furniture. Do any vacuuming and dusting that needs to be done before I'm putting decor on top of it. It gives me that chance to kind of clean my stuff, you know, give it a little deep clean if you will. So, then I'm just going to set some little decor items and this picture frame from Hobby Lobby - it has glitter, and I just put a picture of my daughter and her friends when she was little, just to pull back other memories.

Next, I'm gonna clean my coffee table, which is where I'm going to set down a very beautiful um like trade that I think I got at Hobby Lobby last year. If you want to check out my house tour from 2015, you'll be able to kind of tell what I've done differently from there. Then, I take this little like candle holder with cones and little cranberries, and I add this like holly candle - I've never lit it before because I don't want it to lose its form, and it just looks really beautiful. I've put that kind of together for quite a few years now, so I just love it, and I'll always do it.

After that, I decorate these archways by putting in my wreath - it's just a simple wreath from Hobby Lobby and Walmart red bows, and then I'm going to add a decor in the middle too to just kind of give more artwork because the wreaths are kind of very simple. Next, I'm going to decorate this chair that is not in my reading room all year round - it's actually where my Christmas tree is right now, my living room. So, I do have to move it into my reading room, but I like it because it gives it extra cozy feel.

So, I'm throwing some pillows and of course a deer pillow with plaid on it - hello! It's plaid, and I did get that pillow from Ross last year, I don't remember how much I paid for it. Not last year maybe the year before. Now, I'm going to decorate my main little like armchair here, and to do plaid for me, I have to incorporate navy navys and dark greens or emeralds - have to be done this plaid pillow is brand new, I got it at The Home Goods store for 16.99.

The star of the show is this lamp - I was actually going to do a DIY lamp, I was gonna take plaid fabric, one that you saw me tie on the squirrel, and I was going to reupholster an existing lamp that I had. But then I found this lamp at The Home Goods store, and I said excuse me! So of course, I had to buy it, and now I'm just adding my decor from last year - the deer was from last year's plaid week 2015.

Then, I'm stacking these plaid books which I did for 2015 plaid week as well, and lighting a gorgeous candle in a candle holder from Bath & Body Works. Then, I'm adding a 2016 picture frame DIY that I did from Dollar Tree - so I will link all of these videos down below for you but overall everything in here is really plaid to me - I love it! I feel like it's pretty close to the Ralph Lauren look that I'm trying to go for and I hope that you guys enjoy this video, and that you've pulled some inspiration.
