The Ohio Valley 700 Road Rally!-Day Two

Starting Our Journey: Buckhannon, West Virginia and CJ Magie's

Our journey began in Buckhannon, West Virginia, where we had stopped for dinner at CJ Magie's, a local favorite. We were eager to try it out after hearing great things about the place from locals. As we sat down to enjoy our meal, we couldn't help but notice the commotion outside - homecoming festivities were in full swing, with kids cheering and rally cars making their way through the streets. Despite the excitement, we took a moment to collect ourselves before hitting the road once again.

Our Next Destination: Checking Points Throughout Dayton, Ohio

With our stomachs full and spirits high, we set off towards Dayton, Ohio, ready to tackle the next leg of our journey. We had planned to check in at various points along the way, which would help us gauge our progress and make any necessary adjustments to our route. As we navigated through the roads, we took note of the various checkpoints that lay ahead - each one marked by a unique landmark or feature that would serve as a reminder of our journey thus far.

Memorial Park: The First Checkpoint

Our first checkpoint was located at Memorial Park in West Virginia, near Lost Creek. We had heard whispers about this location, but were still eager to see what it held. As we arrived, we couldn't help but notice the beauty surrounding us - rolling hills and lush greenery made for a picturesque backdrop. However, our initial excitement soon gave way to frustration as we struggled to find any sign of the Lost Creek that was mentioned in the guidebook. After scouring the area, we were left wondering if we had been misled or if there was something more to this location than met the eye.

Scraping on Rocks and Taking Pictures

As we continued our journey, we encountered several challenges along the way - including scraping our splash guards on rocks as we navigated through rough terrain. Despite these setbacks, we took a moment to appreciate the beauty of the natural surroundings that surrounded us. We pulled over at various points to take pictures, marveling at the scenery and capturing memories that would last long after our journey had ended.

GTO Scouting Ahead

We were grateful for the presence of GTO, who was scouting ahead to ensure our safety as we navigated through the checkpoints. His keen eyesight allowed him to spot potential dangers from a distance, giving us valuable time to react and adjust our course accordingly.

The Ohio 700 Rally: A Day to Remember

As we made our way through the Ohio 700 rally, we couldn't help but feel a sense of excitement and trepidation. The journey was proving to be everything we had hoped for - challenging, yet exhilarating. We took in the breathtaking views, marveled at the natural wonders that surrounded us, and reveled in the camaraderie of our fellow travelers.

Old Man's Cave: A Natural Wonder

One of the highlights of our journey was visiting Old Man's Cave in Logan, Ohio. This natural wonder was truly awe-inspiring - a vast network of caves and tunnels carved out of the very rock itself. We spent hours exploring this incredible site, taking in the sights and sounds that surrounded us.

Clon Mill: The Final Checkpoint

Our final checkpoint before crossing the finish line was at Clon Mill in Clifton, Ohio. This historic mill had been transformed into a vibrant hub of activity, with Christmas lights twinkling in the distance. We took a moment to reflect on our journey thus far, feeling grateful for the experiences we had shared and the friends we had made along the way.

Crossing the Finish Line

As we crossed the finish line, we couldn't help but feel a sense of accomplishment - we had completed the Ohio 700 rally, an incredible feat that would stay with us for years to come. We took a moment to soak in the atmosphere, reliving the highlights of our journey and making memories that would last long after our adventure had ended.

In Conclusion

The Ohio 700 rally was truly an unforgettable experience - one that tested our skills, challenged our perceptions, and brought us closer together as friends. We are grateful for the opportunity to have shared this journey with Scott Spielman and Rally North America, and we look forward to seeing what the future holds for this incredible organization.
