S24 Ultra - 24 Things You DIDN'T Know!

### Article: Unveiling the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra - 24 Things You Didn’t Know

In our last video, I shared my raw first impressions of the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra. In this article, I want to dive deeper and explore 24 exciting features and improvements that you might not have known about. Some of these insights were discovered after directly engaging with Samsung employees.

#### **1. The "Quad Telephoto" Mystery**

When the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra goes on sale, you’ll likely hear the term "quad telephoto" thrown around. You might assume this means four separate telephoto modules. However, that’s not quite accurate. Let’s break it down:

- **Modules:** The S24 Ultra still features two telephoto modules: a 3X and a brand-new 5X.

- **Sensor Crop Options:** In addition to the traditional telephoto modules, you now have access to two sensor crop options: a 2X and a new 10X. This is made possible with AI assistance.

- **Optical Quality:** Samsung claims that both the 2X and 10X options provide optical-level quality, which is why they’re calling it a "quad telephoto system." Impressed by this confidence, Samsung has even kept the 10X Zoom option visible on the main camera screen, despite it no longer being purely optical.

#### **2. Improved Video Recording Capabilities**

One of the standout features I absolutely love about the S24 Ultra is its enhanced video recording capabilities:

- **Switching Lenses in 4K 60fps:** Unlike previous models where you could only switch lenses in 4K 30fps, the S24 Ultra now allows you to switch between all lenses when recording in 4K 60fps. This brings it on par with devices like the Pixel or iPhone 15 Pro.

- **Slow-Motion Video:** You can now record slow-motion video in 4K at up to 120 frames per second ( fps). Even more impressive, if you switch to "Pro Video," you can record normal video in 4K 120 fps—a feature I’m really excited about.

---

#### **3. AI-Powered Slow-Motion and Super Resolution**

AI plays a significant role in enhancing the S24 Ultra’s capabilities:

- **Slow-Motion Upgrades:** If you have a video shot at 60 or 30 fps, you can now hold your finger down on the screen, and AI will generate the missing frames to give you a fluid 120 fps preview.

- **Super Resolution:** This feature allows you to upscale photos after taking them. While it’s not as advanced as "Gigapixel AI," it still offers more than just basic image sharpening. If you have old family photos lying around, this could be a game-changer.

---

#### **4. Enhanced Video Stabilization and Low-Light Performance**

The S24 Ultra introduces a new gyro and wider optical image stabilization on the 5X module:

- **Stabilization:** These improvements result in much more stable video, even in challenging lighting conditions.

- **Low-Light Video:** Samsung claims that low-light video has been significantly improved, especially on the new 5X module. While I haven’t had the chance to test this myself, the fact that the 5X module captures 160% more light suggests a noticeable upgrade.

---

#### **5. AI Tone Suggestions and Wallpaper Packs**

AI features extend beyond photography and video:

- **Tone Suggestions:** When composing messages or emails, Galaxy AI can now offer tone suggestions to rewrite your text in a more professional or fun tone.

- **Wallpaper Updates:** Speaking of AI, tomorrow we’ll be launching our second new wallpapers pack for this week. We posted a teaser on the wallpapers app Instagram page. If you leave a comment guessing the name of the pack correctly, I’ll pick five random comments and send you a three-month Monon coupon code for full wallpapers access.

---

#### **6. Samsung Notes and Galaxy AI Enhancements**

Galaxy AI continues to impress with its integration into other apps:

- **Notes App:** If you use Samsung Notes, especially with the S Pen, you can now get an instant text summary of your handwritten notes. Additionally, you can get a summary of your notes using Galaxy AI.

- **AI Watermark for Edited Photos:** Worried about images created or modified using Galaxy AI being indistinguishable from real ones? Samsung has thought ahead and will add an AI watermark to any image that has been edited with Galaxy AI.

---

#### **7. The Future of Galaxy AI**

There’s some important news about Galaxy AI:

- **Free for Now:** As mentioned in my experience video, Galaxy AI will only be free until at least 2025. Samsung hasn’t confirmed whether it will become a paid service beyond that.

- **Cloud-Based Features:** If and when Galaxy AI becomes paid, it’s likely to apply only to cloud-based features where Samsung uses third-party services. For example, when Galaxy AI summarizes a web page, it uses Google’s Gemini Nano large language model. If Google charges Samsung or if their partnership ends, those cloud-based features could become paid.

---

#### **8. Custom Chip Branding and Performance Boosts**

Samsung is making some changes to its chip branding:

- **Exynos Chips:** Unlike Snapdragon chips, which are manufactured by third parties, Samsung manufactures its own Exynos chips. However, the S24 Ultra now features "Made for Galaxy" branding on the Exynos 2400 chip inside it.

- **Optimization Benefits:** This means that the Exynos versions of the S24 and S24 Plus will benefit from extra optimizations tailored specifically for these phones. Other manufacturers or lower-end Samsung phones using the Exynos 2400 won’t get these benefits.

---

#### **9. RAM and Battery Improvements**

Here’s what you need to know about the hardware:

- **RAM:** Unlike rumors suggesting 8GB of RAM on the base Ultra model, all S24 Ultra models will come standard with 12GB of RAM. Even the S24 Plus now comes with 12GB by default, while only the standard S24 will have 8GB (with no option for 12GB).

- **Battery Life:** The only exception to the larger battery trend is the S24 Ultra, which remains at 5,000 mAh. However, thanks to optimizations and a more efficient chip, the Exynos versions of the S24 and S24 Plus are said to last longer than their predecessors.

---

#### **10. Ray Tracing and Gaming Enhancements**

The S24 Ultra continues to push boundaries in gaming:

- **Ray Tracing:** For the first time on a Samsung phone, the S22 Ultra introduced ray tracing with the Exynos 2200 chip (in partnership with AMD). The S23 Ultra kept this feature thanks to the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2. Now, the S24 Ultra retains it with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3.

- **Performance Boost:** Ray tracing performance has improved by 57%. With more games supporting ray tracing, this will make a bigger difference than ever before.

- **Super Resolution Upscaling:** Thanks to Snapdragon’s Game Super Resolution, you can upscale your games as high as 8K. While the S24 Ultra doesn’t have an 8K screen, this feature means you can play games at your monitor’s native resolution when connected to a projector or high-resolution external display.

---

#### **11. Cooling System and Display Innovations**

Heat management and display technology have also seen improvements:

- **Cooling System:** The S24 Ultra features a brand-new vapor chamber that is 1.9 times larger than the one in the S23 Ultra. It also uses a graphite sheet to sustain performance, even during long gaming sessions or outdoor use.

- **Super HDR for Photo Previews:** Another feature I didn’t cover in my experience video is super HDR for photo previews. When previewing photos in the native Gallery app or supported third-party apps like Instagram, the display activates its HDR mode to show stunning levels of brightness.

---

#### **12. Wi-Fi 7 and Enhanced Connectivity**

The S24 Ultra takes a leap forward with connectivity:

- **Wi-Fi 7:** Upgrading from Wi-Fi 6E on the S23 Ultra, the S24 Ultra now supports theoretical speeds of up to 46 Gbps. While few users will have internet connections that fast, this is more about future-proofing.

- **Multi-device Control:** If you own a Samsung tablet, you can now use a mouse and keyboard to control both your tablet and your S24 phone. This feature is similar to Apple’s integration with Mac and iPad but works across devices.

---

#### **13. Android Auto Updates**

Android Auto is getting an AI-powered upgrade:

- **AI Integration:** Google recently announced that Android Auto will now automatically summarize your messages and suggest replies or actions like sending someone your ETA. While this isn’t exclusive to the S24 line, it’s coming to all Android Auto users.

---

#### **14. Design and Weight Improvements**

One subtle but notable change:

- **Lighter Design:** The titanium version of the S24 Ultra is 2 grams lighter than the aluminum S23 Ultra. While this might seem minor, it adds up over time, especially for those who carry their phones everywhere.

---

#### **15. Long-Term Support and Security**

Samsung continues to lead in software updates:

- **7 Years of Updates:** The S24 Ultra will receive 7 years of both security updates and software support, matching the Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro. This is a significant achievement, especially when compared to Apple’s decision to drop support for the iPhone 10 after just 6 years.

---

#### **16. Pre-Order Offers and Accessories**
