The Samson J1: A Budget-Friendly Android Phone with a Premium Finish
I'm still here at Samson Forum 2015, looking at the final mobile competitor or contender in the new series of devices. The phone I'm examining is the Samson J1, and it's interesting to note that there's no Indian connotation to the "J" phone, as this is actually the J1 model.
The J1 comes with slightly better specs than its predecessor, the co-prime. One notable difference is the battery life, which is lower at 1850 milliamp hours compared to the co-prime's higher capacity. The screen size has also been reduced to 4.3 inches, but the resolution remains the same at 480 by 800 pixels. This may seem like a low-resolution display in today's world, and Samson seems to acknowledge this with their statement that they'll continue to use them despite being "banned" due to their low quality.
The camera capabilities on the J1 are not particularly impressive, with a 5 megapixel rear camera and a 2 megapixel front camera. However, considering the phone's price point of under $10,000, these specs should be decent enough for its target audience. The J1 has been launched at this forum, and it's expected to become available in the Indian market shortly.
One of the standout features of the J1 is its build quality. The plastics used in its construction are of high quality, which suggests that Samson is trying to create a premium feel without breaking the bank. This approach seems to be paying off, as overall, the J1 feels like a decent product with fairly responsive performance running on Android 4.4 KitKat.
The processor powering the J1 is a 1.2 gigahertz quad-core device, which should provide smooth performance for most users. However, it's worth noting that Lollipop will be pushed to the J1 at some point in the future, and we're not sure what that will bring in terms of new features or improvements.
One thing that's clear about the J1 is that it has a nice chrome bezel that adds a lot of value to this relatively budget-friendly phone. The chrome accents on the side and around the buttons are also particularly well-done, giving the device a premium look and feel. On top of the earpiece, there's a chrome grille that completes the design.
The J1 also features a multitasking button on the left and a back button on the right, both of which will serve dual purposes. If you hold down the multitasking button, it will give you access to your customization panel, allowing you to change wallpapers and add widgets as needed. Holding down the home button will enable Google Now, which is what you expect from a device with this level of functionality.
On the bottom edge of the device is the microUSB charging data syncing port, along with the main microphone. The power button is on top, accompanied by a 3.5 mm headphone jack on the left and volume rockers like on the back of the device. On the back panel, you'll find the main camera, LED flash, speakerphone, and Samsung logo.
The J1 also features dual SIM card slots, which will be welcome news for users who need to stay connected with two different phone numbers or plans. The microSD card slot is also available, allowing you to expand your storage capacity as needed.
Finally, the battery life of the J1 is a major consideration, given its lower capacity compared to some other devices in this price range. However, at 1850 milliamp hours, it should still provide decent endurance for most users, especially considering the power efficiency of the Android operating system.

samson is launched we're looking at the j1 so no there is no indian connotation to the j phone because this is the j1 and what we saw earlier the co-prime essentially is this phone with slightly better specs so J 1 comes in with a slightly lower battery of 1850 milliamp hours we get a slightly smaller screen 4.3 inches but the resolution remains the same so you get a 480 by 800 pixel display which in today's day and age should sort of be banned you should ban a low res displays but Samson says that they will continue to use them and people will continue to buy them that's how the world goes around right we have a 5 megapixel camera at the back and 2 megapixel camera in the front not targeted at the high-end segment according to me but this phone has been launched under 10000 rupees and it's been announced right here at forum I hope it's gonna be available almost immediately in the Indian market so you can stay tuned and check it out once it does get launched the RAM on the inside is 768 megabyte and you get 4 gigabyte of ROM and a budget segment phone but the pricing seems to be a little off it seems to be in the 10000 price bracket but we'll see how it does in fact the build quality of the plastics used in the build of the device are really good so overall seems like a decent product and fairly responsive running Android 4.4 KitKat we will just have to see how it does once it does come to the Indian market so this is the j1 you're looking at the ecosystem it's fairly fast at a 1.2 gigahertz quad-core processor really responsive running on KitKat right now lollipop will be pushed when we don't know for what it's worth it seems to be a really responsive device the internet is not working really well yeah the Internet is really struggling so we probably will not be able to show you what that performs like but I'll do a quick overview of the device you have this nice chrome bezel that adds a lot of value to this relatively budget phone really nice chrome accents on the side of the device as well as around the buttons a really nice chrome grille on the top for the earpiece you do have the multitasking button on the left and a back button on the right which will also serve dual purposes so if you hold down the multitasking button will give you the customisation panel let you change wallpapers add widgets etc if you hold down the home button it should enable Google now and that's what it does so if you just have the home button you go home and if you hold down slightly longer it will give you Google now on the bottom edge of the device is the microUSB charging data syncing port along with the main microphone on the right is the power button on the top is a 3.5 mm headphone jack on the left the volume rockers and like on the back the main camera the LED flash the speakerphone and the Samsung logo pull out the back panel if you want and you see your SIM card slots again dual SIM card slots and you also have a micro SD card slot which is over here combi slot and then you have your main 1850 ml amp hour battery which is over here in the back the back panel traditional Samsung style finish but if you see this device it looks very premium you have this pearl white sort of finish that I think looks really nice on this phone and they've not added a lot of black around the back so you see that this whole singular color design the the sort of trait of the back panel gives it a singular sort of unibody design because you can barely see the edges of the back panel gives it is really nice and premium look should be appreciated in the price segment that is targeted at some certain restrictions about the specs on the screen but the screen is really nice and bright so it might sort of surpass the kind of resolution that many people may be looking for on this price segment of devices might as well knock wall thank you guys for watching youwhat's happening guys mine is was not and I'm still here at Samson forum 2015 and
