**Minecraft 1.8 Hands-On: A Special Edition of D3 Live**

In this special edition of D3 Live, I'm excited to share with you a hands-on experience of Minecraft 1.8. As a beginner, I don't have much to show off just yet, but I'll guide you through the basics and some of the new features in this version.

**Experience Points and Combat**

You know how it is - the days are longer in Minecraft, so it takes a bit longer for experience points to accumulate. However, fighting mobs will definitely get you those points quickly! As we'll see soon enough, one of the key things about 1.8 is that mobs take double damage when attacked from above.

**Exploring and Finding Water**

One thing I'd like to show you is how to find water in this new version. It's not exactly easy, but with some careful exploration, we can find a nice spot to grab some fish or drink from the water source.

**Observations on Lighting and Performance**

Personally, I think Minecraft 1.8 looks a bit better than previous versions. The lighting might be improved, or perhaps it's just my imagination. In any case, it's definitely worth noting that performance seems to have improved as well.

**Cutting Down Trees and Expanding Biomes**

As with all survival mode games, we need to cut down trees when we first start. To save time, I'll skip this part of the video and focus on more interesting aspects of Minecraft 1.8. You might be surprised at how expansive the biomes are in this new version - just think about those vast oceans and lush forests.

**Swimming and Exploring Underwater**

We can swim through waterways and explore underwater areas with ease! As you'll see, there's a lot more to discover beneath the surface of Minecraft 1.8.

**New Options in Minecraft 1.8**

Let's take a look at some of the new options available in Minecraft 1.8. One thing I noticed is that field of view can be adjusted to stretch out our view - perfect for exploring vast landscapes or seeing everything around us like through a fish-eye lens. There's also brightness control, which might come in handy during nighttime explorations.

playing some Minecraft 1.8 uh so of course this was leaked yesterday and it's kind of a long story but it's leaked it's out there you guys can definitely download it if you want and I'm going to go ahead and give you guys a quick tour around what all is new uh so the first thing you guys can see here is the new intro login screen it's it's very nice it's not just Brown bricks and stuff anymore it looks pretty cool uh I will go over some of the options really quick because there are some new things in here uh you can do you know the normal kind of stuff and in fact I'll I'm going to turn it to P I'll leave it on hard who cares you can do some field of view things some lighting and all that kind of stuff I show you guys what that looks like uh there are is also a new multiplayer so instead of just having to you know always punch in the servers and all that kind of stuff which is kind of annoying you can just go ahead and you know add servers and always have them in a list absolutely awesome if you're going to be playing multiplayer uh but since that's not working 100% right now we're just going to play some single player uh so you can go through your world here but there are two modes so of course before you could play Survival Mode uh you know very simple but now there's a new Mode called creative which is very similar to the old Minecraft classic where you know you don't have to worry about health you can just you know dig and Destroy and all that kind of stuff so we're going to go ahead and create a creative world mode I'll show you guys some of the new features it's it's pretty cool uh so go ahead and let load here and here we go all right so the way this works as you guys can see here is it actually allows you to go ahead and you know really build all kinds of stuff so as you guys can see here this you I just immediately kill whatever I want but if I double tap uh double tap the space bar I can fly uh it works really nicely I mean it's not laggy or anything at all you're able to go ahead and get into the game and fly uh the controls are like I said you double tap uh to jump and you can start flying and if you hold the shift key that allows you to go down so I can go down I can go up and you just use the normal W ASD Keys uh so as you guys can see here this is kind of an overview of some of the new biomes in Minecraft 1.8 uh it's really it's really pretty nice so fact us let's go ahead and take a look over here um especially the ocean's been redone I'll I'll actually hop into the ocean here in a minute but uh this looks like just kind of a standard biome so we'll let's go ahead and head over here and jump down here um so as you can see here it looks really quite nice and in fact let's go ahead and give you guys a quick tour of the uh how the lighting works so I just drop a torch here as you guys can see here the lighting has been eded they they've done some tweaks there and it looks pretty nice um actually while I'm here you guys can see here in creative mode you also have the option to you know select your bricks so say you know just you know just you know using hacks or whatever you can go ahead and pick anything you want so for example I want a block of gold I can do that um whoops I can also there are also some new bricks which I go over everything but I'll go down here to the bottom so for example we have now watermelon that's cool U you have you know raw chicken and you know a couple things of course all the old items are still there and also something else I want to show you guys if I can find where it is is that there are now new glass as well as uh yeah here we go so we have glass pan so let me let me build something real quick with glass so let's let's come over here I I really do have to say the flying is is really is really nicely implemented so let's go ahead and we can actually build out grass uh build out grass build out some glass here and it works very similarly to how uh pigs here um so it works very similarly to how like fences and stuff works so there we go so you can see here it's very thin works pretty well uh now while we're here let's go ahead and show you some of the animal things so we can punch them if we there's kind of a new combat and in fact actually let's let's head of this let's go ahead and go into the adventure mode where I can show you that uh so we can create a new world we're going to go ahead and do survival and I'll show you guys some of the new things of course the survival mode is not 100% done there will be some NPCs and some other things that they will add a little bit later but this is what we have for now so as you guys can see here on the bottom of the screen you'll find that there are some new things so as a uh of course you still have your health bars it's very similar but you also have experience which is that thing right below that you also have on the right of that is your food so you of course need to eat so let's go ahead and just get started here so one of the new things is the animals now run away from you so if I jump I punch it you'll see here instead of just sitting around like you know being stupid it actually starts running away and there's also a new combat so um you can of course you do damage just by punching but if you jump and punch on the way down I don't know how well you guys can see that but you get it's called like a critical hit like little X's or what come out so let's jump see if we can do this do this right it's kind of a little hard to get used to um the timing I don't know if they're going to change that or whatever but like gu or maybe I just really bad get over here all right well that didn't work but yeah you can you guys might have saw in there and there we go so if you saw the little green orb that is kind of like the experience that you get um now of course since I just started the game I don't actually really have anything uh the days are a lot longer so it takes you a little while but uh not really going to get a lot of experience but of course fighting you know mobs and that kind of stuff we'll definitely get it very quick so let's go ahead and yeah here we go so so if we can get down here without killing ourselves which is always dangerous so we got some pork here so we're not too bad but you guys can see here the uh well just the biomes themselves are very nice like for example here's a little Inlet and if we want to go swim we can swim through here really easily we got a pig if I go under water I'm not really show so sure how well you guys see that but it's a little bit different you guys can see here there are bubbles um and it's pretty nice one thing I did notice though is if you for example you can see here there's the the sun if you go underwater the clouds disappear which it's not a big deal but uh it's only something I did noticed but hopefully you guys can tell here the the water is now extremely deep which is I don't know it's kind of cool uh and if I come up back to ground I'm go ahead and show you guys some of the new options available in Minecraft 1.8 um and I do want to mention that this is the pre pre-release version so they may add some more things between now and then but uh it's pretty much the main thing so you also have field of view if you guys can see here I stretch it all the way out so for example if I want to be running around and seeing everything like through a fish Islands almost you can definitely do that which I actually kind of like something in the middle but I'll just leave
