Emmy Eats Vietnam - tasting Vietnamese snacks & sweets

**A Delicious Journey Through Vietnamese Snacks**

As I delved into my package of Vietnamese snacks, I was excited to discover the diverse array of treats that this small country has to offer. The first snack I encountered was baking oil, which resembles corn nuts but is much smaller and crunchier. With a flavor profile similar to corn nuts, it's clear that these tasty morsels are a popular snack in Vietnam. I must say, I was impressed by their texture and the fact that they're not too salty or greasy.

Next up were lotus seeds, which are harvested from the flowers of the lotus plant. These tiny pods are crunchy and starchy, with a flavor that's reminiscent of yucca. I was surprised to find that they have a natural sweetness to them, making them a delightful snack on their own. The packaging for these lotus seeds is also quite adorable, with a colorful design that showcases the beauty of this unique ingredient.

I also had the pleasure of trying mung bean cakes, which are a staple in Vietnamese cuisine. Kyo warned me not to leave Vietnam without trying these, and I'm glad I took his advice. The texture of these cakes is crumbly and deliciously sweet, with a flavor profile that's both familiar and exotic. I was reminded of the traditional Filipino treat known as polvoron, although the taste is distinctly different.

The next snack to try was dry beef floss, which bears some resemblance to beef jerky. However, this Vietnamese variety has a more delicate texture and a rich, savory flavor with hints of five-spice. The ingredients are carefully balanced to create a dish that's both nourishing and delicious. As I savored each bite, I couldn't help but feel grateful for the opportunity to experience this unique culinary delight.

Rock was another surprise snack that caught my attention. At first glance, it resembles fried cookies, but upon closer inspection, it reveals itself to be a type of energy bar made from rice flour and various ingredients. The texture is dense and brick-like, although it's surprisingly palatable when paired with a drizzle of sweet vanilla sauce.

Last but not least, I encountered the infamous durian-flavored snack, which is rumored to contain the infamous Southeast Asian fruit known for its pungent aroma. While I'm not a huge fan of durian myself, I was eager to try this unique flavor combination. To my surprise, it's actually quite delightful, with notes of onion and garlic that add depth to the sweet and savory flavors.

As I continued to explore the snack package, I came across Crunchy Corn Snacks, which are surprisingly reminiscent of corn pop cereal. With a crunchy texture and a hint of heat from chili peppers, these snacks are both familiar and exciting. The granulated sugar coating adds a touch of sweetness that balances out the savory flavors.

Finally, there were Apple Cider Donut Holes shaped like little black cats, which I had decorated with love and care. These adorable treats are sure to bring a smile to anyone's face, and they make for a perfect snack or dessert. As I shared my experience with the package of Vietnamese snacks, I realized that each item was carefully crafted to showcase the diversity and richness of Vietnamese cuisine.

**The Power of Food Culture**

As I sat amidst the delightful assortment of Vietnamese snacks, I couldn't help but reflect on the significance of food culture in bringing people together. Snacks like these may seem small or insignificant, but they reveal a world of flavors, textures, and traditions that are both familiar and exotic. By sharing our love of food with others, we can bridge cultural divides and foster greater understanding.

As I concluded my journey through this package of Vietnamese snacks, I felt grateful for the opportunity to explore the diverse culinary landscape of this beautiful country. Each snack had its own unique story to tell, from the crunchy lotus seeds to the spicy durian-flavored treats. And as I looked at each item with newfound appreciation, I knew that these snacks would always hold a special place in my heart.

**Conclusion**

In conclusion, my journey through this package of Vietnamese snacks was an unforgettable experience that left me with a deeper appreciation for the country's culinary traditions. From crunchy lotus seeds to spicy durian-flavored treats, each snack revealed a world of flavors and textures that are both familiar and exotic.
