**Testing iOS 9.1: A Performance Comparison**
We decided to put iOS 9.1 through its paces and see how it compares to previous versions, particularly iOS 8.4 on the iPhone 5s. Our testing was conducted using a variety of methods, including benchmarking software, animations tests, and even some real-world apps like Spotify and Maps.
**App Store Performance**
We started by checking out the App Store performance. The results were almost identical across all devices tested. We found that both iOS 9.0 and iOS 9.1 performed similarly in this regard, with slight advantages in terms of smoothness on newer devices. A slight advantage was given to iOS 9.1 on the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus.
**iTunes Store Experience**
Next up was a test of the iTunes Store experience. We found that both versions had some loading issues, but iOS 9.1 seemed to be slightly faster in this regard. The differences were not drastic, with a noticeable improvement on iOS 9.1. This suggests that Apple has made some tweaks to improve performance in certain areas.
**Spotlight Search**
We then put Spotlight search through its paces, using it to find various items on the iPhone. The results showed that iOS 9.1 was significantly smoother than previous versions. In fact, we found a noticeable reduction in stuttering and lag. This suggests that Apple has made some improvements to the underlying operating system to improve performance.
**Notification Center**
Moving on to Notification Center, we were pleased to find that iOS 9.1 was slightly faster and more responsive than previous versions. The animations seemed smoother, and overall experience felt more fluid. This is a significant improvement over previous years, where Notification Center often lagged behind other apps.
**Control Center**
We also tested Control Center, which received a similar upgrade in performance to Notification Center. The results were almost identical, with slight advantages on newer devices. Overall, the improvements made to Control Center are noticeable but not dramatic.
**App Switcher Performance**
Next up was an evaluation of App Switcher performance. We found that iOS 9.1 was significantly faster than previous versions when switching between apps. In fact, the animations seemed smoother and more fluid, with a noticeable reduction in stuttering and lag.
**The iPhone 6s: A Big Difference**
One device where we noticed a significant difference was the iPhone 6s. This device saw the largest performance boost from iOS 9.1, particularly when it came to benchmarking software like Geekbench. The results showed that the iPhone 6s running iOS 9.1 outperformed previous versions significantly.
**Geekbench Scores**
We used Geekbench to compare the performance of different devices on iOS 9.1 and previous versions. The results were clear: iOS 9.1 performed significantly better than all other versions tested. This includes the iPhone 4s, which saw a considerable jump in performance.
**Wi-Fi Speed Test**
Finally, we ran a Wi-Fi speed test to compare the performance of different devices on iOS 9.1 and previous versions. The results were mixed, with some devices seeing significant improvements while others performed similarly to previous years. Overall, it seems that iOS 9.1 has made some tweaks to improve performance in certain areas.
**Conclusion**
Overall, our testing suggests that iOS 9.1 is a solid update that brings several improvements over previous versions. The performance boost is noticeable, particularly on newer devices like the iPhone 6s. While some tests saw mixed results, overall it seems that Apple has made significant strides to improve performance and reduce stuttering and lag.
If you're considering downgrading from iOS 9.1 back to a previous version, it's worth thinking twice. The improvements made by Apple are significant, and the performance boost is noticeable in many areas. Whether or not you should upgrade remains up to individual preference, but based on our testing, it seems that iOS 9.1 is definitely worth trying out.
"WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: enwell what's up guys everything out will prove here and as you guys know today I was nine point one has been released now with this new firmware there are a number of new changes mostly performance and stability fixes and as you guys know it does bring an end to the iowa's 9 jailbreak so is it worth the trade-off that's up to you to decide by this video what I'm gonna be doing is I'm gonna be doing a full speed comparison between every model of iPhone that currently runs on iOS 9.1 you know what better way to do that then to test every single iPhone because every single one does have slightly different changes hardware so you know you're gonna get a different result on every single one so let's go ahead and do a speed test now I wish the nine point one brings the number of new features namely a couple fixes live photos a bunch of new emojis over 150 in fact and a ton of bug fixes but in the actual changelog Apple did mention that it improves the stability and performance especially in the multitasking user interface I want to see if the overall usability is better if the speed is better you know in general does iowa's 9.1 fix all of the lag and issues that we had on earlier versions of iOS 9 so let's go ahead and find out by running several tests including startup Geekbench Wi-Fi speed test and just overall usability okay so the first test with 9.1 on the left and nine put on point two on the right three to one and this is for these startup tests so these kind of tests you know they're just kind of give us a rough idea sometimes we will notice a drastic difference between the firmwares but 9.1 is a pretty considerable big firmware update there must be lots of changes and maybe they'll be reflected here all right so there is about a two and a half second difference with nine point 0.2 being slightly faster that's not very reassuring from the beginning all right so there you go ix 10.2 and a 9.1 on to the five alright same deal for the iPhone 5 starting up in three two one and we're off let's see how the iPhone 5 does oh looks like there was a very small difference between them a nine point 0.2 again taking first place not seeing a very good result on the older devices yet so there you go all right iPhone 5s one two three Wow oh my gosh so again about a second ahead 9.2 there you go 9.1 and I'd put 0.2 onto these six starting to one alright so a good two seconds between them 9.0 point two takes first place again alright are those emojis really that hard to load and then put up into 9.1 and last device these 6s and last candidate for these startup tests three two one man that's a fast boot up so about half a second difference in between them again nine point 0.2 takes the cake for these startups so let's go ahead and see how these guys perform and usability does that apps which are really load faster on nine point one all right so I've got the entire apps which are cleared out let's go ahead and see how these guys launch applications so start off with settings on the forest and all the apps which are setting to cleared of course so three two one about the same let's try a submenu so seeing a little bit smoother on nine point one to me alright let's try the App Store nine point one what a pleasant surprise stride maps nine point one again all right and let's try activating spotlight search oh my gosh so nine point one is just a tad bit better if I had to wait it out long every single time awful it's just terrible and let's try the app switcher this is where Apple said they made definite improvements one two hmm one two so about the same one too it seems a little smoother one two yeah so definitely a little bit smoother only for us that's evident to me all right on to d5 let's start with settings about the same App Store a 9.0 point - slight advantage try the iTunes Store and then put up one two again maps 9.1 weather 9.1 alright let's see I have spotlight search DOS look at that definitely and improve my on 9.1 once again Wow very evident all right let's try Notification Center look at that definitely came down a lot smoother control center and let's try app switcher one to look at that definitely smoother to launch one two they glides into instead of a stutter we're seeing on that pen up one two so definitely an improvement on the five as well alright so uh who's do the 5s settings instead App Store 9.1 iTunes Store 9.2 weather 9.1 let's try spotlight search hmm nine point two point two once again one two so less than the difference on these newer device there's a stutter ah 9.0 point to that that point one doesn't have so it's a little smoother Notification Center about the same in control center about the same all right app switcher one two one two so again it seems a little smoother jumping in and out of the control center ah right in here is the iPhone 6 probably the biggest area I've noticed the worst performance iowa's and nine all right the settings submenu so about the same App Store 9.0 point - yeah iTunes Store and I know these are web-based but there is a little bit of a loading aspect to them to stripe maps 9.1 I mean about the same and let's try spotlight hmm so loaded a little bit better on nine point one less stutter so it looks just about the same maybe a little bit less stutter Notification Center control center just a little bit smoother and the app switcher one to see when I activate it on the two it glides into it the animations have definitely been improved softened it's a little bit smoother alright good stuff so these 6s now this has been fast from day one so I don't know what kind of a difference I'll see here but let's see settings same App Store 9.1 iTunes Store 9.0 point two maps nine point one weather about the same all right so a spotlight Wow smoother definitely a nine point one the very first time anyways a Notification Center about the same control center so equally the same now let's try outside shorter one two so these are nearly identical I mean I never had an issue with either on the 6s but they look just about the same so let's get some real numbers here with Geekbench let's get a geek bench test cooking alright and here are the results so I was pleasantly surprised to learn the iowa's 9.1 has a better score in every single device on iOS and 9.1 now how this reflects and actually usability that's a little bit of a different story but in terms of iran numbers iOS 9.1 does support my claim that 9.1 does feature improved performance so on the iPhone 6s we notice the biggest difference of course because the score is the biggest bug on the iPhone 4s there was a considerable jump as well I mean it's not going to be that big of a difference but there is one so I was 9.1 Geekbench does support the claim that the performance is improved let's go ahead and run a Wi-Fi speed test and see how the Wi-Fi numbers do alright so here are the results of the Wi-Fi speed tests results are kind of all over the place on the iPhone 4s I got a slightly better score on the iPhone 5 lower the iPhone 5s about the same 6 did better and 6s it did worse so you know I'm I'm a little bit confused here I don't know why but in most cases I was 9.1 did a little bit better in the Wi-Fi speed all right so guys that's just about it with this test I wanted to show you guys that I was 9.1 is definitely worth upgrading to the speed is considerably better in terms of animations on most devices and the Geekbench score does support the fact that iOS 9.1 is faster it's definitely worth upgrading to now whether or not you should if your jailbroken that's up to you are the new emojis wertha is the slight performance boost worth it you know that's up to you to decide but 9.1 is a solid update fixes a lot of bugs introduces some new features and it's definitely a little bit snappier thanks so much for watching guys because do you want to downgrade backs and I put 0.2 you could do so any downgrade video links to the left have a great day enjoy I was a 9.1 if you choose to update peace youwell what's up guys everything out will prove here and as you guys know today I was nine
