**Samsung Galaxy S9+ vs Samsung Galaxy Note 8: A Comparative Review**
For those who have been eagerly waiting to get their hands on the latest Samsung flagship device, the Samsung Galaxy S9+, we've got you covered. In this article, we'll be comparing the S9+ with its predecessor, the Samsung Galaxy Note 8, highlighting the key features and upgrades that make the S9+ a superior device.
**The S Pen: A Classic Feature**
One of the standout features of the Note series has been the inclusion of the S Pen, a stylus that allows users to write, draw, and take notes with ease. While both devices feature this iconic stylus, the Note 8 takes it up a notch with its larger tip and more precise control. However, in our review of the Note 8, we highlighted some of the features that make the S Pen so useful, including the ability to jot down notes quickly and easily.
**Other Features**
The Samsung Galaxy S9+ comes with a host of other features that set it apart from its predecessor. One notable feature is AR Emoji, which allows users to create their own emojis using their facial expressions. This feature uses advanced AI technology to scan your face and create a character that accurately reflects your mood and expression. While we didn't have the chance to fully test this feature in our review of the Note 8, it sounds like an exciting addition to the S9+.
**Bixby: Samsung's AI Assistant**
Samsung's AI assistant, Bixby, has been getting a lot of attention lately, and for good reason. The latest version of Bixby on the S9+ includes some impressive features, including live translate, which allows users to point their camera at a menu or other text and have it translated in real-time. This feature is a game-changer for travelers and language learners alike. Additionally, Bixby can now provide information about food, such as calorie counts, making it an even more useful tool.
**Battery Life**
When it comes to battery life, the S9+ has one major advantage over its predecessor: a slightly larger battery. With 3500mAh compared to the Note 8's 3300mAh, we can expect better all-day battery life from the S9+. However, both devices support fast charging and wireless charging, making it easy to top off your device on the go.
**Pricing**
Finally, when it comes to pricing, the S9+ is available at the same price point as the Note 8, which is a bit of a surprise given that it's considered an upgrade. However, we can expect the Note 8 to drop in price soon, making it an even more attractive option for those on a budget.
**Availability**
The Samsung Galaxy S9+ will be available for pre-order starting now, with a release date set for March 16th. However, if you do pre-order early, you'll get your device sooner than anyone else. The Note 8 is already available to buy, and as expected, it's priced lower than the S9+.
**Conclusion**
The Samsung Galaxy S9+ offers some impressive upgrades over its predecessor, including a larger battery, faster processors, and improved AI features like AR Emoji and Bixby vision. While the Note 8 still holds up well as one of the best devices of 2017, we can't deny that the S9+ is an attractive option for those looking for the latest and greatest from Samsung. With its sleek design, snappy performance, and feature-packed interface, the S9+ is definitely worth considering if you're in the market for a new smartphone.

"WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: en- Hey, what's up, YouTube,Saf here on SuperSaf TV.And in this video we'regoing to be lookingat the key differences betweenthe Samsung Galaxy S9+,and the Samsung Galaxy Note8.So, we've got the biggerdevices from Samsung here, and hopefully this comparisonwill help you decidewhich one to go for. Now, starting off withthe build and design,we've got a very similarbuild and design, here, there's a metal frame, with curved, symmetrical, glass panels on the front and back. Now, this is a very uniquedesign with all of those curves, and actually makes the larger devicesa little bit easier to hold. Both devices are also IP68water and dust resistant,so getting a bit of a splash on themis not going to be a problem. The combination of metal andglass also make these deviceslook and feel very premium, but the Samsung Galaxy S9+is slightly smaller compared to the Note8,both in terms of the height and width, although it's the same thickness. The S9+ also has more curvededges, so this actuallymakes it a little bitmore comfortable to holdcompared to the squarededges of the Note8.Now, there's not too muchof a difference in termsof the weight. The S9+ is slightlysmaller because it has aslightly smaller display, 6.2 inchesversus 6.3 inches on the Note8.Now, both these displaysare what Samsung is callingInfinity Displays, andthat's because they haveminimal bezels, although the S9+ actuallyhas slightly smaller bezelscompared to the Samsung Galaxy Note8.Both of these have an18.5 by nine aspect ratio, with quad HD resolution, and they're bothsuper AMOLED displays, which means these are some of the bestin the market right now, with deep blacks and very vibrant colors. Now, with the S9+, you can use it morein horizontal mode, so,even the menu, as well as the home screenwill switch to horizontal mode, and that is because Samsung is sayingmore people are usingtheir devices in landscapeto consume content. This is something that'snot currently availableon the Note8.Whether or not it's goingto be available later on,I'm not too sure. Now, looking at the internals, the Note8 comes witheither the Qualcomm Snapdragon835 processor, or Samsung'sExynos8895.This will vary depending on your region, and these are pretty powerful processors, but they are last year's processors. The Samsung Galaxy S9+now comes with either theQualcomm Snapdragon 845processor, or Samsung's Exynos9810.So you're going to begetting improvements here,we know that the Qualcomm Snapdragon 845is 30% more faster in termsof the graphics performance, and also 30% more efficient. Now, we can obviously do some more detail,side-by-side speed test,SuperSaf style, whenwe've got the retailversion of the S9+ in hand, but generally-speaking, the S9+with the new internals, isgoing to be the faster device. Now, both devices actuallycome with six gigabytes of RAM,so that's plenty, and theyshould be great for multitasking.I've been using the Note8for quite some time, and it's been prettygood for multitasking, and for storage, the Note8comes with a base storageof 64 gigabytes. The S9+ actually comes with a base storageof 128 gigabytes, so there'sanother improvement, here. Now, the good thing isyou can expand the storageon both of these withthe MicroSD card slot,so, you're not going tobe stuck with the storagethat you get with the device. Now, let's move on to the cameras. This is where thingget really interesting. With the Samsung GalaxyNote8, you've got adual 12 megapixel camera setup. The primary is a wide-anglecamera with an F1.7 aperture. And then we've got a telephoto camerawith an F2.4 aperture, andthat's going to give youoptical zoom.I've been using theNote8's camera for quitesome time now, and it's avery good camera, overall.Definitely one of the best of last year. But we have an improvementhere, on the S9+.We've still got a dual camera setup, withone telephoto which has an F2.4 aperture, but for the primary,wide-angle camera, things getvery, very interesting. The S9+ has a dual-aperture camera. There's F1.5, which is the widest apertureon any smartphone rightnow, and it's going to allow28% more light comparedto the S8's last year. And then you've also gotF2.4, and this is actuallya mechanical change. You can actually see thischange if you look up close, and it's absolutelyinsane that we've got thison a smartphone right now.And the way this is going to work, is thatif it notices thatyou're in anything above100 Lux of light, then it's going to switchto the F2.4 aperture, and that's go get more things in focusand get a more pleasingshot in good light. Now, in my initialtesting of this, it looksvery, very promising.I'll obviously be doing a SuperSaf stylecamera comparison between these two.If you want to see thatfirst, then make sure youhave subscribed andswitch on notifications. Now, because of the secondarycamera on both devices,we do have live focus, which is a portrait mode. This is going to blur thebackground, and the good thing isyou can edit the blur afterthe fact on both devices. And it's also going to taketwo shots, one wide angleas well as one telephoto,so you've always got thatwide-angle shot, if needed. Now, moving on to video, both devices can film at 4K,but we've got thirty framesper second on the Note8.On the S9+, we've got upto sixty frames a second. Not only that, we'vealso got Super Slow Mo.So this is720p,up to 960 frames a second. Now, this is just ashort burst, like we hadon the Sony devices last year, but the problem with theSony devices last yearwas that you'd have topress it at the exact timewhen you wanted that slow motion, and more often than not, you'd just end upmissing that shot. The good thing with theSuper Slow Mo on the S9+is that you've gotautomatic motion detection,so this is going to allowyou to put a square aroundwhere it needs to look for motion, you can start recording, and whenever it does detectmotion, in that square, that's when it's going to start recording, and you can get somereally impressive results. It's also going to then addmusic to your slow motionautomatically, it's goingto allow you to changethose slow motions to GIFs,and you can also use those slow motionsas live wallpapers. Now, for the front-facing camerawe've got eight megapixelson both, with an F1.7 aperture,as well as auto-focus.Now, although we've got verysimilar, or the same hardware,we've got some improvementsin terms of software. And with the S9+,you also have Selfie focus. This is basically a portrait mode fromthe front-facing camera,it's something that we'veseen on the iPhone Xas well as the Google Pixel 2.In my brief testing, it didseem to perform quite well. Now, we do have selectivefocus from the front-facingcamera on the Note8, but in my experience,it hasn't worked too well. It'd be interesting to seehow much the Selfie focushas improved on this on the S9+.Now, in terms of software, both of theseare running Android. My Note8 is still onAndroid version 7.1.1.The Oreo update has not yet come. It's supposed to be coming soon, but with the S9+ it is goingto come with Android Oreoout of the box, so you aregoing to get that advantagethere, and both of thesehave Samsung's Experienceagain, on top.The S9+, being the new device, as well,I'd expect it to get updatesquicker compared to the Note8going forward, and when it comes to audio, the good news is,both of these have a 3.5millimeter headphone jack.As you guys know, thisis something we're seeingmuch less of these days,so it's great that Samsunghave still includedthis, and with the Note8you've got a single bottom-firing speaker. This is okay, but itcane be covered easily, and it's not great comparedto stereo speakers, which the Samsung Galaxy S9+ now has. Now, these speakers are tuned by AKG,we've got one in the earpiece, and one bottom-firing.And they're one point four times loudercompared to the S8 last year, and they also incorporate Dolby Atmos. So you are going to begetting a much more massiveexperience on the S9+,and you can switch theDolby Atmos on whenyou like, it's a togglein the notifications. Now, looking at the additional features.First thing's first, fingerprint scanner. On the Note8, as yo guys know, it's notin an ideal position, it's right up therenear the cameras, and you do have to reach for it, which isquite difficult on the larger device. With the Samsung Galaxy S9+,it's below the cameras, in the middle, and it's much more accessible, and I'm glad that Samsunghave made this change.Yes, we don't have a fingerprintscanner in the displayas yet, and that might comefor the Samsung Galaxy Note9,but having it in a muchmore accessible positionat the back is definitely a plus. Both devices also havean Iris Scanner, as wellas Facial Recognition, but with the S9+, youhave Intelligent Scan, and that's basically acombination of using theIris Scanner as wellas Facial Recognition. This is going to make things more secure, and it's nice to have this in additionto everything else that we have. The Samsung Galaxy Note8does, however, have somethingthat not many other devices have, and that is the S Pen.This has mixed opinions, some people like it,some people don't.I personally do find it quite useful.Especially useful ifyou're somebody who signsdocuments on the go on things, and there's lots of otherfeatures that it doesinclude, as well.I've covered those in mySamsung Galaxy Note8 review, which you can check out in the comments. Now, the S9+ does come with a new feature, which is not available on the Note8,and that is AR Emoji.Think of this as Samsung'sanswer to Apple's Animoji. Now, what this actuallydoes is it scans your face, and it creates a characterbased on your appearance.I did test this out, it didn'tdo a great job, initially.I guess I have to make somemore tweaks, because ofmy beard, but it basicallylooks at a hundred featureson your face and it triesto give the AR Emojirealistic expressions, andthen you can use these inthings like WhatsAppand Facebook Messenger. Now, personally speaking, Iwasn't a huge fan of Animojion the iPhone X, and Ican't really see myselfusing AR Emoji too much on the S9+,but it might be somethingthat you're into. Now, let's move on to Bixby. So, Bixby is Samsung's AIassistant, which is presenton both the Note8 as well as the S9+,but we've got someimprovements on the S9+,especially in terms of vision. We've got live translate, within Bixby vision. This is going to allow youto point your camera at, say,a menu, or something, andtranslate that for youlive there and then. There's also other improvements. You're going to be able topoint your camera at foodand it's going to give youinformation about that food, such as how many calories it has.Whether or not theseBixby updates are going tocome onto the Note8,this is still a bit of a question mark. They may or may not. Now, looking at the batteries, the S9+ actually hasa slightly larger batterycompared to the Note8.We've got 3300 mAh on the Note8,3500on the S9+.Now, the Note8, I have been using thatfor the past few months, andit's got okay battery life.I wouldn't say it's great. With the S9+, because ofthe slightly bigger battery,as well as the new processors,I'd expect it to be more efficient, and you should be getting betterbattery life from the S9+.The great thing is thatboth devices do supportfast charging, as well asfast wireless charging,so this is great wheneveryou need a quick top off.Now finally, lookingat the pricing, the S9+is actually coming in at the same pricethat the Note8 wasintroduced at last year. This is high compared to the S8+,but we do have the additionalfeatures this year, and with the Note8,because it has been outfor a few months, now,you can expect to pay a little bit lesscompared to when it was released. Now, pricing will obviouslyvary from place to place, and after the S9+ is available, then I would expect theNote8 to drop even further. In terms of availability, the Note8 isavailable to buy right now. With the S9+ you canpre-order it right now,and it is going to be availablefrom the 16th of March. However, if you do pre-orderearly, then you shouldbe getting the device earlier. So, there we have it, guys, the Samsung Galaxy S9+versus the Samsung Galaxy Note8.Some interesting devices, and some interestingimprovements here, on the S9+, too.Obviously the S9+, being the new device, has the new featuressuch as the dual apertureas well as the newer processors, but with the Note8 we have the S Pen,and because it is an olderdevice, it is going to bedropping in price, soif you are on a budget, then the Note8 might bethe option to go for.As I've said before, itwas definitely one of thebest devices of 2017, andit still holds up right now. That's what I think, anyway, what do you guys think, and what do you guys think of the S9+?Definitely drop me a commentbelow and let me know.I hope you enjoyed thisvideo and found what you saw,if you did, then please dohit that thumbs up on for me,it really does help me out.And if you haven't already, then be sure to subscribeand switch on notifications. As soon as the retailversion of the S9+ is in handwe'll be doing lots and lots of videos. Thanks for watching, thisis Saf on SuperSaf TV,and I'll see you next time.\n"
