What's Up Everyone: Samsung Galaxy S4 Unveiling
John Renter from Technobuffalo here, and we're live in New York City at Radio City Music Hall where Samsung just took the wraps off their latest flagship, the Samsung Galaxy S4. This phone is going to be available in either blue or white, and we're taking a look at the white variety today. Let's start with the gorgeous screen. It's now a five-inch 1080p screen at the resolution of 1920 x 1080 giving it a pretty crazy 441 ppi.
The phone is going to ship with Android 4.2.2, the latest version of Jellybean, and will come in either 32 or 64 gigabyte configuration. It's also expandable with micro SD cards, as you would expect from Samsung phones. The camera we'll talk about this in an upcoming video, but it's a 13-megapixel camera that features some crazy cool stuff, like the "Eraser" feature which allows us to take separate pictures and erase the backgrounds.
The Eraser feature is supposed to have almost zero shutter lag, but of course, we'll be putting it through its paces soon. The phone also comes with 1080p video recording capabilities at 16 frames per second, as well as a front-facing camera that's only 2 megapixels. Wi-Fi 802.11 ABG and now AC is also on board, which is becoming increasingly standard in smartphones. Other sensors include a barometer for temperature humidity and various gesture controls.
Now, let's take a quick look around the phone. On the left-hand side, you'll find your volume rocker, while the power and lock button are situated on the right-hand side. The phone itself feels extremely thin, almost too thin in fact. It looks incredibly different from its predecessor, the Galaxy S3, but in a good way.
The phone's shape and feel are very similar to the Galaxy S3, which should give you an idea of what it's going to be like when you hold it in your hand. However, one thing that stands out immediately is how thin and light it feels. This phone is looking to sell between one and one-and-a-half billion units for Samsung, so we'll have to see if they can meet that demand.
One feature that caught our eye is the ability to use your finger to touch right over top things, which will cause them to start opening up in theory. As you hover your finger over some features, you can also do stuff with the S Pen – it's a pretty cool feature that we'll be exploring more in upcoming videos. The home button is where Samsung usually puts it, and it's big and prominent.
There are two buttons flanking the home button: a menu button and a back button. Be sure to check out Technobuffalo.com for the latest and greatest coverage on the Samsung Galaxy S4. I'm John Renter giving this video a thumbs up, and I'll see you guys in the next video!
