The Father of the Nissan GT-R: An Exclusive Interview with Munsan
We are honored to have the chance to sit down with Mr. Munsan, the father of the Nissan GT-R, for an exclusive interview. This is a serious privilege for us to be able to do this, and we thank you very much indeed.
Mr. Munsan has taken us for a little drive in his new car, which has more power, uses less fuel, and features cleaner power with lean mixture gasing. He explains that achieving these improvements requires allowing the engine to rev a little bit higher or making it more efficient at high revs. The maximum revolution is the same, but torque BL area changes.
We ask Mr. Munsan about the horsepower of his car, and he confirms that the maximum horsepower announced for home cars is slightly lower than the actual development value. He reassures us that safety is always a top priority and explains how different performance levels can affect accident statistics.
Mr. Munsan shares with us the origins of his love for cars, which dates back to his use of racing car technology in developing the GT-R. Racing technology is essential to him, and he believes it's what sets the GT-R apart from other sports cars. His favorite part of the new 2012 car is the engine horsepower change and the suspension patton.
One of the notable improvements in this model is the lighter weight, which Mr. Munsan attributes mainly to modifications made during development. The car is approximately 5 or 6 kilograms lighter than its predecessor. He also mentions that body stiffness changes and the use of harder springs contribute to the car's reduced weight.
When asked if he believes the GT-R will eventually lap the Nürburgring in under 7 minutes, Mr. Munsan thinks it's possible with the right tires. However, he notes that only a limited model will achieve this feat, specifically those with slick tires.
As for what's next for Mr. Munsan and his development team, he expresses excitement about continuing work on this model. He has announced plans to continue development for another five years.
