The Excitement of Creating Holiday Decorations: A DIY Valentine's Day Project
Hey guys, I'm so excited to be doing more holiday DIYs and it is January which means Valentine's Day is right around the corner and I want to be able to get these videos up for you guys now so that you have a chance to gather all the materials if you want to do the same project that I'm doing here now. I need to really beef up some of my Valentines Day decor and what I really needed was to have something for my fireplace.
I decided to head to Dollar Tree, which is where I got these picture frames, and actually I bought these back in December November because I wanted to do a Christmas DIY but I never got around to it. I thought to myself I have these and it just turned out so perfect. So, I dug out all of these frames at Dollar Tree. The spray paint, of course, is from Walmart, which was only three bucks a can. You really just need about two cans for ten picture frames, and I used two cans. I did about three coats for each frame unless you have a primer spray then use that and then you can use your whatever color you want to use for your picture frame.
Now being that it's winter, it's taking the spray paint a little bit longer to dry rather it's super quick in the summer time from the heat. But it did take me overnight just because that final last layer just takes a little bit longer and I had started this DIY at night so I wait until the morning. So, this is the next day and what I'm doing here is I'm just turning my frames now. I was just trying to pick whatever sides looked more finished and didn't have so much black peeking through so anyone that had like a little bit of smudge of black I just put it on the inside because you won't see that part because you're gonna glue it together and you're gonna see.
Of course, you can use a glass and then use some sort of like color cardstock or construction paper so that you don't see through the picture frames. But I loved the look of just the glass and the heart doily I thought it was super clean and very farmhouse to me and that is what I was trying to go for. So, I am gonna utilize some hot glue to hold the glass down because again there's not gonna be any backing to hold that glass in so. And I try to use the little like those things that I puttin down with my thumbs whatever those little like metal clips are that holds it in and I couldn't do that because when I turn the picture frame over you could actually see them peeking through the glass.
So, that's why I used the hot glue to secure the glass to the frame and then I just bent the little Clips reverse so that you can't really see them of course you can take some flat pliers and pull them out completely if you wanted to but I just flattened them in the reverse order and it was just fine. You can also get these heart doilies from the Dollar Tree as you can see I had the red, pink, and white now I'm gonna use the white I thought it was gonna be super chic for like my farmhouse feel.
I used this little sticky tape roller and I had to put it on the frames so that they wouldn't move when I glued them together. And I have to say I love how it turned out. You can literally make this as big or as small as you want there are different sized picture frames at the Dollar Tree these are just the two that I use now. The pink hearts had a different size frames and so I do love the contrast of the bigger frames and only using four for the pink which you're gonna see here.
And then the six smaller ones that I used for the white I think it's so pretty and I can't wait to do a fireplace decoration video, I think these turned out so cute I'm so happy that this was my very first DIY that I'm sharing with you guys.

what I really needed was to have something for my fireplace now I'm gonna do a separate video on decorating with me and how I'm setting up my fireplace but this is just kind of step one and so I went to Dollar Tree this is all Dollar Tree by the way and I got these picture frames and actually I bought these back in December November because I wanted to do a Christmas DIY but I never got around to it and I thought to myself I have these and it just turned out so perfect so I dig out all of these frames at Dollar Tree like I said but the spray paint of course is from Walmart they're like three the glass now of course you can use a glass and then you can use some sort of like color cardstock or construction paper so that you don't see through the picture frames but I loved the look of just order and it was just fine you can also get these heart doilies from the Dollar Tree as you can see I had the red the pink and the white now I'm gonna use the white I thought it was gonna be super chic for like my farmhouse feel and then you're actually gonna see later on that I did this again same white frames but I used pink hearts for my next set red isn't really the most main color isn't a color that I actually utilized that much in my Valentines Day decor so I just went with the white and the pink and it was actually not as hard as I thought it was gonna be so I use this like little sticky tape roller and I had to put it on the front part of the doily that was gonna touch the glass because again you don't have a backing to it so you can't actually glue stick down the back of the heart doily because there's nothing to glue it up against so it was really easy I thought that the like sticky residue from the tape was gonna show once I flipped it over but it actually didn't and I got that tape at the Dollar Tree as well and the very last step is gluing all the frames together now I thought this through and I knew that I wanted to put in my heart doilies first before I glued the frames together first so as you can see I completed all of my heart doilies separately make sure that they were all centered in that way it was just easier for me to get to each frame because I could like move the frame and it wasn't like connected to something else so I would strongly suggest that you do your hearts first or whatever image you're doing first and then glue your frames together at least that was easy for me that way as you can see I'm just gonna use some hot glue and I'm gonna start putting them together one by one so now I'm gonna finish putting everything together but you can literally make this as big or as small as you want there are different sized picture frames at the Dollar Tree these are just the two that I use now the pink hearts had a different size frames and so I do love the contrast of the bigger frames and only using four for the pink which you're gonna see here and then the six smaller ones that I used for the white I think it's so so pretty and I can't wait to do a fireplace decoration video I think these turned out so cute I'm so happy that this was my very first DIY that I'm sharing with you guys I hope that you love it send me pictures on Instagram if you do this project yourself and what frames you did and the colors and the doilies that you picked but I wanted you guys to see what it looked like up against my fireplace and with like my farmhouse like mirror shutter I thought it was so so pretty and there's gonna be more decorations to it but that will come later and that completes my Dollar Tree DIY my very first Valentine's Day decor for 2018 I hope that you guys enjoyed it please give this video a thumbs up and I will see you for more Valentine's Day I cannot wait for you to see the next one bye guys\n"
