iPad, Honeycomb, webOS, Playbook - What's Your Tablet Pick

A Busy Wednesday in the Tech World: Apple and Google Events

February 2nd, 2010, was a busy day in the tech world, with two major events taking place in New York City. The first event was an announcement by Apple and News Corp, which revealed the launch of the Daily All Digital iPad newspaper. This daily publication will be available on iPads for $40 a year or $99 cents a week. With this new addition, users can now receive all the news that Rupert Murdoch sees fit to print or publish directly on their iPad every morning.

Later in the day, Google hosted an event at the Google Plex in Mountain View, California. The focus of this event was Android 3.0 Honeycomb, although it's unclear if it was intended as a preview or simply an explanation of the upcoming operating system. The Android 3.0 Honeycomb was first showcased on the Motorola Zoom tablet at CES in January. It is now expected to hit stores later this month and will be available on various tablets, including those from Google and its partners.

The development of Android 3.0 Honeycomb has been met with excitement, especially among tablet manufacturers. Over 50 developers were present at Mobile World Congress next month to showcase honeycomb-optimized apps. These demos included the CNN app for Honeycomb, as well as various other applications such as Gmail and video chat on Honeycomb.

It's worth noting that Android 3.0 Honeycomb will likely feature a front-facing camera for improved video chatting capabilities. Moreover, multiple manufacturers are working on tablets with honeycomb technology, including Motorola, T-Mobile, and Toshiba. Additionally, Google has announced the launch of the Android Market Web Store, which can be accessed right now.

The upcoming Mobile World Congress is expected to bring more exciting developments in the tablet market. On February 9th, TechnoBuffalo's John will be at the HP webOS event in San Francisco to cover it live. It's unclear what exact tablets will be showcased but rumors suggest they might include the BlackBerry PlayBook, which has been deemed impressive despite its limited functionality.

The tablet market continues to grow and evolve, with various manufacturers vying for a share of the market. Some users may find tablets useful as an alternative to laptops or desktop computers, providing a portable means of accessing information and working on tasks. However, others might view tablets as less practical than traditional computing devices, reserving them only for casual use such as browsing the web or watching videos.

As the tablet market expands, it's essential to share opinions and thoughts about their usefulness and relevance in everyday life. Do you think tablets are an excellent option for productivity tasks, or do they simply serve as a novelty? Are there any specific features that make a tablet appealing to you? We want to hear from you!
