24 Hour Reading Vlog! (3 books and 700+ pages!)

**A Vlog Update: My Thoughts on "Redemptor"**

I wanted to give you guys an update on my thoughts and feelings about my latest read, "Redemptor". I have to say, I was thoroughly enjoying it from page one. The author's ability to pack so much plot and realistic world-building into a relatively short book is truly impressive. I loved the magic system, the setting, the politics, and of course, the characters.

One aspect that really stood out to me was the way the author handled the complexities of empire-wide politics. It's not often that you see a deep dive into this type of narrative, but "Redemptor" does it with ease. The author sheds light on the inner workings of the establishment and the struggles of those fighting for change and reform. I particularly appreciated how the protagonist, Tarasai, navigated these treacherous waters while also facing her own personal demons.

As a fan of epic fantasy, I was excited to see how the author would tackle the weighty themes of power, responsibility, and self-doubt. Tarasai's journey is both intense and relatable, as she grapples with the expectations placed upon her and the physical manifestations of her own doubts. Her relationships with other characters are also a highlight of the book, particularly those from diverse backgrounds who become integral to her quest.

The author's writing style is, once again, top-notch. Jordan Fuecko has a way of crafting narratives that are both engaging and thought-provoking. I was completely absorbed in "Redemptor" and found myself devouring the pages with ease.

**A 24-Hour Read-a-Thon Wrap-Up**

I have to say, I'm very pleased with how my 24-hour read-a-thon went! During this time, I managed to complete not one, but two books. The first was "The Inheritance of Arcadia Davina", which I can confidently say is one of the best books I've read this year. I expected it to be good, but absolutely loved it – and I think you will too.

"The Inheritance of Arcadia Davina" sets the bar high for epic fantasy, with its intricate world-building, complex characters, and engaging plot. It's a must-read for fans of the genre, and I'm already eager to dive into the rest of this series.

Next up was "Redemptor", which I've already discussed in detail. Suffice it to say that I thoroughly enjoyed it – and it's another testament to Jordan Fuecko's skill as an author.

**A Sneak Peek at "Mario, the Night Brothers"**

I'm currently about 170 pages into "Mario, the Night Brothers", which I'm also really enjoying. The author has done a fantastic job of setting up what promises to be an incredible middle-grade fantasy series. With its unique blend of magic, adventure, and humor, this book is already drawing me in with ease.

**A Quick Lick of Lunch**

To fuel my reading frenzy, I've whipped up a tasty sub – all thanks to the importance of olive oil, oregano, salt, and pepper! These simple yet effective ingredients elevate even the most mundane meals into something truly special. Now, it's time for me to get back to reading – there are still over 800 pages to devour before this read-a-thon comes to an end!

**The Verdict**

All in all, I'm thrilled with how my 24-hour read-a-thon turned out. Completing two books and reaching a whopping 743 pages is no easy feat – but it's been an absolute blast. If you're looking for epic fantasy recommendations or simply want to experience the magic of immersive storytelling, then I've got just the ticket.

So, what are you waiting for? Dive into one (or all) of these incredible books and discover why they've captured my heart. And if you have any thoughts or opinions on "Redemptor" or any other book, feel free to share – I'm always up for a lively discussion!

"WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: enhi guys it's regan and welcome to the start of another reading vlog and this reading vlog is extra special because i turned around too much it is a challenge-based reading vlog so i am going to be doing a 24-hour reading vlog reading as much as i can over the span of the next 24 hours in the month of september i have been pretty pleased with my reading um i've read four books at the start of this vlog for this month and i definitely think i'm on track to hit most of my goals but that being said i'm not tracking to read all the books on my tbr so i decided to challenge myself um for a 24 hour reading session and honestly i have high hopes for myself because i'm absolutely in love with my tbr for this video so without further ado let's talk about the three books i hope to maybe read all of over the next 24 hours so i have three books picked out the first is amari in the night brothers this is a middle grade book i have been dying to read for months i have the audiobook already checked out from the library so i plan to mostly listen to this while i do chores and work and just kind of fitting it throughout my day i cannot wait to pick this book up it's a trials-based fantasy story about a young girl basically entering a competition to enter a magical secret society i also have redemptor by jordan efuecko which is the second book the first one being grey bear which i read earlier this year and loved i flew through the first one this is also not very long so i feel like perfect for a 24 hour readathon but the writing the magic the found family components of ray bear i was obsessed with so i thought redemptor was a perfect book to add to a 24 hour readathon and then the book i think i'm actually gonna start with for this vlog is the inheritance of arcadia davina which came out in august and i just it's been calling my name this is a family based sort of magical fantasy story about the death of the matriarch of one family and kind of her magical legacy and how that impacts everyone else that's kind of uh related within that family so this is the book i think i'm going to start with for this vlog but each of these books i have been dying to pick up and i feel like are just going to be perfect for a 24 hour readathon that being said the clock starts now it is 11 30 a.m and i am going to do a spot of reading now uh before i make lunch and have to do some other work in the afternoon but so begins the reading vlog i'm really looking forward to this wish me luck as i hope to read as much as i can it would be absolutely stellar if i was able to read all three books in 24 hours or at least like finish two and get pretty far into marrying the night brothers but i don't want to count my chickens before they hatch as they say but yeah welcome to the vlog let's get started i'm literally gonna start reading right now unrelated but i picked up pumpkins from the grocery store and they look like zombie pumpkins and i am a big fan so i'd say the fall vibe in here is reaching a peak so we're happy about that hi friends so first reading update of the 24 hour read-a-thon is very successful i've already read 100 pages of the inheritance of arcadia davina and i'm loving loving with the capital l loving this book it is truly everything i was hoping it would be so far just the writing the touch of magic the family saga the sort of vignette style and how it's written it's just so good and has completely captured my attention and also this needs to be turned into a movie right away i mean just it's everything so a bit more context about this story this is a true family saga and it basically kind of exists within two timelines this follows the montoya family and they have a family matriarch which is arcadia de vina at the beginning of this story it kind of opens with a few family members receiving an invitation from her telling them that she's about to die and for everyone to show up at the family home to collect their inheritance and arcadia davina lives in a place called four rivers and she basically just sort of like magically appeared there one day and then never left it's like this luscious farm in the middle of nowhere and different members of this family have been kind of in and out their entire life she has many children she's had four husbands she is also very very mysterious and has kind of complicated relationships with different members of the family for different reasons part of the present day perspectives we follow are different members of that family and each of them are kind of arriving at the funeral hoping to find answers to some of the questions that they've always had their entire lives who their father is more about their mothers who have passed away and just questions about arcadia's past in general as well as kind of the family magic that has always sort of existed around her um combining that there's sort of this understanding that the family is cursed and arcadia kind of says that her family just has a curse and they're stuck with bad luck for various reasons and you kind of feel there are elements of that magic at least with some of the perspectives we follow and then coupled with the present day timeline we also have chapters kind of following different moments of arcadia's life growing up for childhood as well as just big events that created a huge altering moment for her and ultimately kind of like made her who she is today and obviously influencing her i've only read 100 pages so it's been primarily her childhood her growing up in ecuador and then ultimately leaving ecuador and starting a new life um but yeah so far i'm absolutely drawn in immediately by the story i cannot say more good things about the writing just the overall quality to this book it just has this magical air she's like lush also just how much the story is rooted in family i love too we follow a set of cousins who are really close visiting from new york city another cousin who's visiting from oregon and just there's all this messiness that sort of wrapped up but also a lot of love that's there too um and just kind of following arcadia's life from you know the beginning of it to the end is absolutely mesmerizing as well and honestly like her whole family has arrived at this funeral and they're all like bickering with each other and they finally enter acadia's house and she's literally turning into a tree before their eyes and they're like of course you are like what the heck grandma can't you just like tell us something but of course you're just gonna turn into a tree um i don't know i'm really liking it i'm flying through it the hundred pages was just flew by um i see no issues finishing this book in the afternoon but i'm so jazzed with how much i'm liking this i had such high expectations about this book going into it and so far they are meeting them i'm just like this book is like everything i love so good so good rambling i'm gonna make lunch now but i just wanted to do an update cuz 100 pages so i'm taking that as success about to put the new casey musgraves album on but i'm whipping up a salad i made a homemade like greek yogurt lime vinaigrette nice and tangy just some leaves and i'm gonna saute some corn to kind of blacken it and then throw in some black beans season it all up throw it together top with some red onion and some cheese should be good dressed salad i have my sides over there and then the main event is just i sauteed some fresh corn first so i've got a little chard a black beans a bunch of seasonings and then i will top with this should be tasty and lunch is done lunch is over and i need a bit of read-a-thon fuel i think i'm gonna sit down read 50 or 60 more pages then switch to my audiobook but i'm making some headway well that's also joining me for this 24 hour readathon isn't that right millie book is over there but i'm also gonna light a candle i have this one hello autumn it's leaves fake fall vibes is what i'm all about walking around my apartment to make myself a little less sleepy it's what happens when i have a good reading session but i wanted to say read even more you can't really tell but i've read to page 160 so i read another 60 pages and wow i'm still loving this book so much it's just so interesting there's this sort of central family mystery obviously i've already mentioned that has invited her whole family to her funeral and a lot of family comes they're hoping to get answers to the many questions that they have for acadia but she's not answering anything if anything she's more vague and she basically hints at that there possibly is this sort of like dark figure this person who she's been like hiding from her whole life and she's made some sort of deal um that possibly has given her her magic i'm assuming here and also has made her unable to talk about it so you know more questions as it relates to her past which makes her past chapters even more fascinating obviously like as a person she's really interesting but now that you know that there's some sort of deal some sort of magical component i feel like i'm reading into everything outside of that after the funeral i would say our main individual we follow is miramar who is 19 years old and is the granddaughter of arcadia and she inherits the house a large portion is her like fixing up the house and kind of like settling in possibly in my assumption being like the new matriarch but this mystery post arcadia's death that this individual is kind of haunting the family and it seems like the danger is starting to kind of manifest itself also it seems like with her passing there was kind of like a gift of magic given out to other individuals and it's starting to also manifest itself um but all in all i am just absolutely captivated by the story again the writing and the characters everything is just really well realized with having such a fascinating sort of magical component to it as well um i'm about halfway through now i definitely feel like i will be able to finish this book tonight no issue at all but now i'm gonna take a little bit of a break from physical reading and i'm going to start my audiobook which is mario cooper and the knight brothers which i'm really really looking forward to i think i'm going to play some breath of the wild as well and just kind of i don't know do that sounds fun um and will still allow me to get my pages in but so far for this 24 hour readathon i'm about five hours into it and i've read almost 200 pages so i think that's successful so far and i think i'm definitely on track for finishing this redemptor and getting a good way through amari and knight brothers so that's that let's go listen to my honey but that's that i'm getting a phone call so i'm gonna go things are getting serious because i clicks clay because i am in comfortable clothes we are gonna get some serious reading in 160 pages down i'm gonna put on the audiobook now for a few hours come back finish my book start my third book it's happening you heard it here first i'll eat dinner somewhere in between all that all right have my libby app all loaded i used to listen to audiobooks at like 1.5 1.75 speed but recently i've been really enjoying listening to them at normal speed anyone else just me curious what your ebook reading speed is some people can listen to them past 2x i don't understand how people have the brainpower to do that but they do and it's incredible but they can't wait to catch me alone i lean back in my chair out of here hi everyone i just paused my game but i have been sitting well i've been playing and listening to amari and the knight brothers and i've listened to 100 pages of that book and i am two for two with books so far for this reading vlog because i'm liking it so much let me sit down and talk about it so it's honestly full of all of my favorite middle grade tropes and i feel like it's gonna be a really long series just how it's kind of describing the world and set up and just like if you love like percy jackson or neverwhere like you've got to check this book out but it basically follows our main character amari it opens with her having a very difficult time she's bullied at school and she also is on a desperate search to try to locate her missing brother who has always been incredibly gifted very very smart and he mysteriously disappeared after starting to work for this like very mysterious job at the beginning of the book she basically gets delivered to her a ticking briefcase which basically has an invitation for her to join or audition for the borough of supernatural affairs and it's basically like a program a school where you go every summer until the age of 18 and at the end of it based off of your skill level and you auditioning for various jobs and duties you are given like a job and that prestige of that job can vary depending on your skill level so the beginning of the book she basically finds out about this world for the very first time as her brother wasn't allowed to disclose any of it to his family and he's also been missing and she travels there and it's just like classic it's just so good for one you have an incredible main character in amari she's determined and headstrong the love she has for her family and her brother is just absolutely wonderful um but she also is kind of like this chosen one character brother being so talented and so smart um and her being kind of the younger sibling i feel like she's kind of always grown up in his shadow and that was kind of the reality in her normal life but now that she's in this bureau of supernatural affairs it's similar because when she arrived she basically discovers that her brother was one of the most famous agents um for like protecting humans and supernatural creatures alike so she kind of arrived on the scene knowing nothing but everyone knows who she is she's incredibly notorious um if you have a lot of expectations for her given her you know her brother's success in the bro it definitely has that person introduced to a magical world for the first time chosen one vibe school competition setting friendship adventure mystery puzzles and i feel like this is a series that's setting itself up for a lot of books because right now she's i want to say like middle school age but again it said that they'll be in the borough to the age of 18 so in theory there could be a bunch of books leading up to graduation but the first 100 pages have been absolutely captivating just kind of learning about the world and the magic it just has everything all about middle grade whimsy great characters magic and i just love love love love this sort of like secret society uh magical thing that's happening unbeknownst to normal humans it's just such a trope that never gets old like percy jackson and so many other great middle grades too and amari the knight brothers is proving to be very very excellent so far and it's captured my attention right away and the audiobook is great i listened to 100 like three hours of it um with no problems so that's the plan there i think i am going to make dinner now but now i think i'm gonna make an easy dinner because i'm just trying to focus on the reading you know the reading component of this reading blog and so far i've read 360 pages which i am pretty jazzed with but i'm gonna go figure out dinner now but i will check in in a bit all right i've decided on my dinner for the evening nothing beats crack macaroni and cheese they're just stove spot mac and cheese just an absolute comfort food for me so we're gonna make this watch one episode of a k drama and then go back to reading oh my god matilda is playing with my curtains what is she up to what is she doing stuff she's not allowed to do matilda yeah you're caught you're caught oh my god what is happening a truly impeccable bowl of mac and cheese and i am watching hometown cha-cha-cha i'm on episode 3 the show is on netflix it's so wholesome and heartwarming and cute and soft and it makes me impeccably happy when i watch it so sneaking in an episode tonight and then it's back to my book which i'll finish and then i will start book three how does that sound matilda episode three of hometown cha-cha-cha is complete that show is truly oh matilda's joining me hello um but now i'm gonna lay in bed i'm gonna finish the inheritance of okay davina right now i have about 150 pages left so i feel like i'll be able to do that quickly and then i already have my third book redemptor all prepped and ready to go which i feel like i'll be able to finish by the afternoon tomorrow which is when the end of this vlog is so i'm gonna sit read hang out with millie and finish my first official book of this vlog it's me making excellent progress i only have 75 pages left of this book and i must say it's continuing to just be impeccable both the books i have picked up so far for this 24 hour reading vlog have just been so good but truly this book is just housing like all of my favorite things from just like the overall style and quality of the story but i also feel like this book is delivering like just like a lot to keep you very engaged in the story obviously it opens with this funeral and you have all these questions and you're introduced to the family those are obviously coupled with chapters of arcadia's past as we kind of learn about the different events and circumstances and decisions she's made in her life that have ultimately gonna impact every generation of her family to this moment but there's also the shift in this book where there's kind of a level of urgency and fear as there seems to be a figure haunting them from arcadia's past um and it's rather intense like it almost has like a thriller component it's this like dark mysterious dark magic thing that's like following them around and people are dying truly puts you on edge especially because you feel so rooted in this family story from arcadia's early life to you know three generations later following her grandchildren just trying to find their way and trying to unpack the magical gift that they have been left with there's just so much in here it's just so good like it's like a family saga there's family drama there's like self-discovery generational heritage and like expectation there's fate and magic and love and there's also like this mystery um and that like crosses oceans like it's just such an interesting book it's so well written uh all the characters you follow from obviously arcadia when you follow her as a young girl grimar and rey and everyone i just i'm really loving this book so much and i feel like i'm going on and on about it i only have about 75 pages left and i truly have no idea who what where why how but it's just like magical like it's such a wonderfully written like literary tale which is the perfect amount of magic too like everything has a touch of magic and it's just so good it's also like unexplained magic which all in all is just better like better for the vibe of the book um but i'm gonna finish this now take like a five minute break and then i'm going to start redempter which is right over there anyone was wondering what the rest of my little family is doing whilst i have a read-a-thon i told this with me and clay you might be able to hear he's in the living room watching watching this classic what's up i finished i completed this book it's 321 pages and i loved every single second of it and with amari and the night brothers which i listened to earlier today i have read 421 pages and now i'm going to jump into the third book of this vlog which is redemptor i'm just going to try to read as much as i can before falling asleep tonight this book is i want to say about 300 pages as well just over 300 pages so i feel like i should be able to get a good jump start on this and possibly finish it tomorrow but i loved ray bear so much in the writing so i just have such high hopes about this book and the end of ray bear was absolutely so explosive so i'm excited to see where the sequel takes off but absolute total success so far everyone needs to go and check out this book it's amazing and i already know redemptor is going to be amazing so i feel like an absolute win an absolute win overall it's me i'm here i've been reading redemptor i have to just also just shout out look how beautiful this hardcover is i mean absolutely stunning um yeah so this book is absolutely fantastic from the get-go clay's over there playing video games so apologies but i loved ray bear when i read it earlier this year just the writing kind of the fairy tale quality the magic and the amount of plot the author honestly packed into a very short book like the arc of the story was absolutely fantastic and it's only gonna get more wild with the second one due to some political circumstances that really exploded and also does a fantastic job um summarizing kind of all the events of the last book in like two pages or those two pages and i was like ah yes i remember everything and i was like perfectly and immediately settled into this story but i'm really looking forward to this because it kind of has like not so much it's kind of like a trial component but kind of like a quest component which i always really enjoy and fantasy stories and i don't know just the characters and everything about it like the friendship there's just so many things love so far i've only read about 70 pages i'm going to read more tonight but with those 70 pages i have read over 500 pages so far today which i'm really pleased with and then i have all morning tomorrow to do more reading as i'll be honest i'm getting a little sleepy but i am going to read more tonight before i go but yeah just this why fantasy series i just feel like is so unique it's so unique both in plot but also just writing and the quality to it is just superb and i'm so happy i am liking the second one as much as i am so far and uh i'll talk more about the magic in the world tomorrow when my brain is more in order but it's just like truly so unique um and i love it so much but i'm gonna get back to it i feel like half my vlog just me laying down on the couch or in my bed but i've also just been doing that all day trying to read as much as possible so good night good morning everyone spending this morning enjoying the gloomy weather as you can see but i'm also reading matilda is here being extra snuggly isn't that right knowing it's your tail um but yeah i'll do a checking in a bit once i have read more and had my cup of coffee hi friends i am dressed so i just thought i would quickly show you what i'm wearing and i'm about to cut up some fruit sit down and actually finish this book but i owe you guys a reading check-in but oh my gosh this book reads so fast my camera focus is also focusing on this beautiful foiling on the hardcover but i'm loving it so much i'm also very much on track to finish two books um and i think i'll listen to some more of amari in the night brothers but i'm definitely doing really well in terms of page count but just wanted to say hello i'm dressed and for some reason that is always something for me to be proud of because sometimes putting on pants is hard hi i'm here got my bowl of morning fruit gotta love it and i wanted to do a reading update of everything i was able to read last night because i think i left you guys after i had read about 500 pages i had finished the inheritance of arcadia the vina i've read 100 pages of amari and the knight brothers and last night i was able to pass well into the 500 total pages read by reading redemptor by jordan ifueko and i have passed a 200 page mark of this book which actually puts me at like 600 and like 30 40 pages or something like that but i owe you guys a reading update for this because i'm loving it so much i mean i love ray bear and i do feel like i need to give you guys some context about this story so obviously this is a sequel the first one is ray bearer and we follow main character tara sai and the first one it actually follows tarasai through a large portion of her life we follow her from childhood through like early adulthood and then this book basically takes place right after the events of the first book um but in that story she's basically raised by this person called the lady and she's raised for the purpose of trying out for this council um to ultimately then kill the prince in this world the magic is really interesting so for one people can have individual abilities called a holo and our main character tara size hollow is basically she's able to walk in people's dreams and also share memories but also in this world there is an empire that is controlled by one central individual and they maintain their power as well as their basically their immortality by having these council of individuals and they're all connected mentally as well as like physically through this connection the ember the crown prince is able to not die by a variety of means outside of old age so in book one tarasai is trying out for this council accepted into this council and it's all about kind of this interconflict of going against sort of familial expectations and becoming involved in a new found family not to mention there's magic and politics and all types of conspiracy happening behind the scenes as well in fact the end of the first one is incredibly explosive in terms of politics but just the writing of this particular series is so good definitely has like folklore fantasy vibes it's definitely inspired by historical references and the whole setting and just everything is built so richly as well as just the writing is really really captivating the characters are wonderful and in general something i appreciate about this particular series is how it shows different types of bonds and love so familial friendship and romantic bonds are all very present and are all very deep and especially given this council everyone is connected literally mentally they have such deep personal bonds with each other but they're all varied and i just appreciate how jordan fueko kind of shows the importance of different types of bonds and how i guess support and reliance can kind of show itself in different ways amongst characters i just feel like the relationships in this particular series are so well plotted and just lovely to read more about the second book so the events of ray bear are absolutely wild at the end and i would say the political consequences of that are very much present within this story which is why i think i'm even liking it more than the first one i love ray barracks i just felt like we were so settled in tarasai's life we followed her again from a young child through these trials as well as being involved within this council but this one is so much more about like empire-wide politics kind of taking a look at the establishment and kind of fighting for change and fighting to break the status quo realizing that just because something has been a certain way for centuries doesn't mean it needs to persist and kind of taking a deeper look at the empire-wide politics that honestly haven't been revealed to her and her other council members and kind of realizing where certain individuals are taking advantage he's also working to make various alliances with other rulers that are kind of present around the empire which i find really interesting you get a bit of a look into their political structure and system and i'm hoping to have even more of that throughout the end of the story and with all of that there's also quite a bit of emotional turmoil as tarasai is continuing to have to confront hard truths and also kind of face her own fate and reality and make choices for herself and continue to evolve as a person and as a person in power which can put her at odds with people that she loves and cares about so much and that sort of dissonance is something she's also working through within this story but i am loving redemptor it's so good just the magic the setting the politics the characters and again this second book has captured me from page one i don't know how the author is able to pack so much plot and like realistic world building and everything is paced properly and really not a very long book she did it in ray barron she's doing it again in redemptor but i am going to go finish this book now but i wanted to give you guys kind of an update on my thoughts and feelings and it's basically like i really like this book a lot so i'm gonna go read the last 130 pages of this now while i'm gonna eat my fruit and then i'll read the last 130 pages of redemptor and i finished that was the weirdest angle to pick up a book but i finished redempter and wow i really enjoyed it i feel like i've already done a really long clip talk about all the things i love but what a journey it's just so intense the pacing the characters specifically with terrace eye i loved seeing the journey of her kind of having to deal with the mantle of having more power more responsibility and just expectation and kind of working through physical manifestations of self-doubt let's say and just in general her kind of meeting and growing close with different types of people from all around the empire i just really enjoyed that political aspect of it as well as it's still having kind of emotional component to it the end was absolutely explosive i just love jordan fuecko's writing so so much and i flew through this book and with the completion of this book which is 323 pages i also completed a book that was 321 pages so that's 644 pages i've also listened to a hundred pages of omari and the night brothers that's 743 pages hopefully four pages 744 pages so i'm honestly really really pleased with that i still have about an hour left of this 24 hour read-a-thon so i think i'm gonna put on amarine the night brothers and listen to it now and make some lunch to enjoy but redemptor was just as good as i thought it would be really really enjoyed it and uh i read so much let's get this sandwich party started also the key to a really tasty sub in my opinion so happy to be back in the land of hgb is olive oil and some oregano and then salt and pepper it really like escalates the whole experience elevates the whole experience i should say yum time to eat hi everyone and welcome to the end of the vlog the next day and i have to say i am very pleased with the amount i was able to read during this 24 hour readathon i completed two books and read over 800 pages as i was able to read about 170 pages of amari and the night brothers quick wrap up um mostly to say i read the inheritance of arcadia davina and this might be one of my favorite books of the year i expected to like it but i absolutely loved love love love this book please check it out if you have not already because it's so worth the hype new release incredible obviously i read the entirety of redemptor which i've already talked about at length incredible and then of course we also have mario the night brothers which i'm only 170 pages of the way through but loving it so much a wonderful set up to what i feel like is going to be an incredible middle grade fantasy series absolute knockout in terms of quality of the books i read for this vlog all of them were so good so please read them because i love them but anyway i hope you guys enjoyed this video and i will see you soon with another one soon goodbyehi guys it's regan and welcome to the start of another reading vlog and this reading vlog is extra special because i turned around too much it is a challenge-based reading vlog so i am going to be doing a 24-hour reading vlog reading as much as i can over the span of the next 24 hours in the month of september i have been pretty pleased with my reading um i've read four books at the start of this vlog for this month and i definitely think i'm on track to hit most of my goals but that being said i'm not tracking to read all the books on my tbr so i decided to challenge myself um for a 24 hour reading session and honestly i have high hopes for myself because i'm absolutely in love with my tbr for this video so without further ado let's talk about the three books i hope to maybe read all of over the next 24 hours so i have three books picked out the first is amari in the night brothers this is a middle grade book i have been dying to read for months i have the audiobook already checked out from the library so i plan to mostly listen to this while i do chores and work and just kind of fitting it throughout my day i cannot wait to pick this book up it's a trials-based fantasy story about a young girl basically entering a competition to enter a magical secret society i also have redemptor by jordan efuecko which is the second book the first one being grey bear which i read earlier this year and loved i flew through the first one this is also not very long so i feel like perfect for a 24 hour readathon but the writing the magic the found family components of ray bear i was obsessed with so i thought redemptor was a perfect book to add to a 24 hour readathon and then the book i think i'm actually gonna start with for this vlog is the inheritance of arcadia davina which came out in august and i just it's been calling my name this is a family based sort of magical fantasy story about the death of the matriarch of one family and kind of her magical legacy and how that impacts everyone else that's kind of uh related within that family so this is the book i think i'm going to start with for this vlog but each of these books i have been dying to pick up and i feel like are just going to be perfect for a 24 hour readathon that being said the clock starts now it is 11 30 a.m and i am going to do a spot of reading now uh before i make lunch and have to do some other work in the afternoon but so begins the reading vlog i'm really looking forward to this wish me luck as i hope to read as much as i can it would be absolutely stellar if i was able to read all three books in 24 hours or at least like finish two and get pretty far into marrying the night brothers but i don't want to count my chickens before they hatch as they say but yeah welcome to the vlog let's get started i'm literally gonna start reading right now unrelated but i picked up pumpkins from the grocery store and they look like zombie pumpkins and i am a big fan so i'd say the fall vibe in here is reaching a peak so we're happy about that hi friends so first reading update of the 24 hour read-a-thon is very successful i've already read 100 pages of the inheritance of arcadia davina and i'm loving loving with the capital l loving this book it is truly everything i was hoping it would be so far just the writing the touch of magic the family saga the sort of vignette style and how it's written it's just so good and has completely captured my attention and also this needs to be turned into a movie right away i mean just it's everything so a bit more context about this story this is a true family saga and it basically kind of exists within two timelines this follows the montoya family and they have a family matriarch which is arcadia de vina at the beginning of this story it kind of opens with a few family members receiving an invitation from her telling them that she's about to die and for everyone to show up at the family home to collect their inheritance and arcadia davina lives in a place called four rivers and she basically just sort of like magically appeared there one day and then never left it's like this luscious farm in the middle of nowhere and different members of this family have been kind of in and out their entire life she has many children she's had four husbands she is also very very mysterious and has kind of complicated relationships with different members of the family for different reasons part of the present day perspectives we follow are different members of that family and each of them are kind of arriving at the funeral hoping to find answers to some of the questions that they've always had their entire lives who their father is more about their mothers who have passed away and just questions about arcadia's past in general as well as kind of the family magic that has always sort of existed around her um combining that there's sort of this understanding that the family is cursed and arcadia kind of says that her family just has a curse and they're stuck with bad luck for various reasons and you kind of feel there are elements of that magic at least with some of the perspectives we follow and then coupled with the present day timeline we also have chapters kind of following different moments of arcadia's life growing up for childhood as well as just big events that created a huge altering moment for her and ultimately kind of like made her who she is today and obviously influencing her i've only read 100 pages so it's been primarily her childhood her growing up in ecuador and then ultimately leaving ecuador and starting a new life um but yeah so far i'm absolutely drawn in immediately by the story i cannot say more good things about the writing just the overall quality to this book it just has this magical air she's like lush also just how much the story is rooted in family i love too we follow a set of cousins who are really close visiting from new york city another cousin who's visiting from oregon and just there's all this messiness that sort of wrapped up but also a lot of love that's there too um and just kind of following arcadia's life from you know the beginning of it to the end is absolutely mesmerizing as well and honestly like her whole family has arrived at this funeral and they're all like bickering with each other and they finally enter acadia's house and she's literally turning into a tree before their eyes and they're like of course you are like what the heck grandma can't you just like tell us something but of course you're just gonna turn into a tree um i don't know i'm really liking it i'm flying through it the hundred pages was just flew by um i see no issues finishing this book in the afternoon but i'm so jazzed with how much i'm liking this i had such high expectations about this book going into it and so far they are meeting them i'm just like this book is like everything i love so good so good rambling i'm gonna make lunch now but i just wanted to do an update cuz 100 pages so i'm taking that as success about to put the new casey musgraves album on but i'm whipping up a salad i made a homemade like greek yogurt lime vinaigrette nice and tangy just some leaves and i'm gonna saute some corn to kind of blacken it and then throw in some black beans season it all up throw it together top with some red onion and some cheese should be good dressed salad i have my sides over there and then the main event is just i sauteed some fresh corn first so i've got a little chard a black beans a bunch of seasonings and then i will top with this should be tasty and lunch is done lunch is over and i need a bit of read-a-thon fuel i think i'm gonna sit down read 50 or 60 more pages then switch to my audiobook but i'm making some headway well that's also joining me for this 24 hour readathon isn't that right millie book is over there but i'm also gonna light a candle i have this one hello autumn it's leaves fake fall vibes is what i'm all about walking around my apartment to make myself a little less sleepy it's what happens when i have a good reading session but i wanted to say read even more you can't really tell but i've read to page 160 so i read another 60 pages and wow i'm still loving this book so much it's just so interesting there's this sort of central family mystery obviously i've already mentioned that has invited her whole family to her funeral and a lot of family comes they're hoping to get answers to the many questions that they have for acadia but she's not answering anything if anything she's more vague and she basically hints at that there possibly is this sort of like dark figure this person who she's been like hiding from her whole life and she's made some sort of deal um that possibly has given her her magic i'm assuming here and also has made her unable to talk about it so you know more questions as it relates to her past which makes her past chapters even more fascinating obviously like as a person she's really interesting but now that you know that there's some sort of deal some sort of magical component i feel like i'm reading into everything outside of that after the funeral i would say our main individual we follow is miramar who is 19 years old and is the granddaughter of arcadia and she inherits the house a large portion is her like fixing up the house and kind of like settling in possibly in my assumption being like the new matriarch but this mystery post arcadia's death that this individual is kind of haunting the family and it seems like the danger is starting to kind of manifest itself also it seems like with her passing there was kind of like a gift of magic given out to other individuals and it's starting to also manifest itself um but all in all i am just absolutely captivated by the story again the writing and the characters everything is just really well realized with having such a fascinating sort of magical component to it as well um i'm about halfway through now i definitely feel like i will be able to finish this book tonight no issue at all but now i'm gonna take a little bit of a break from physical reading and i'm going to start my audiobook which is mario cooper and the knight brothers which i'm really really looking forward to i think i'm going to play some breath of the wild as well and just kind of i don't know do that sounds fun um and will still allow me to get my pages in but so far for this 24 hour readathon i'm about five hours into it and i've read almost 200 pages so i think that's successful so far and i think i'm definitely on track for finishing this redemptor and getting a good way through amari and knight brothers so that's that let's go listen to my honey but that's that i'm getting a phone call so i'm gonna go things are getting serious because i clicks clay because i am in comfortable clothes we are gonna get some serious reading in 160 pages down i'm gonna put on the audiobook now for a few hours come back finish my book start my third book it's happening you heard it here first i'll eat dinner somewhere in between all that all right have my libby app all loaded i used to listen to audiobooks at like 1.5 1.75 speed but recently i've been really enjoying listening to them at normal speed anyone else just me curious what your ebook reading speed is some people can listen to them past 2x i don't understand how people have the brainpower to do that but they do and it's incredible but they can't wait to catch me alone i lean back in my chair out of here hi everyone i just paused my game but i have been sitting well i've been playing and listening to amari and the knight brothers and i've listened to 100 pages of that book and i am two for two with books so far for this reading vlog because i'm liking it so much let me sit down and talk about it so it's honestly full of all of my favorite middle grade tropes and i feel like it's gonna be a really long series just how it's kind of describing the world and set up and just like if you love like percy jackson or neverwhere like you've got to check this book out but it basically follows our main character amari it opens with her having a very difficult time she's bullied at school and she also is on a desperate search to try to locate her missing brother who has always been incredibly gifted very very smart and he mysteriously disappeared after starting to work for this like very mysterious job at the beginning of the book she basically gets delivered to her a ticking briefcase which basically has an invitation for her to join or audition for the borough of supernatural affairs and it's basically like a program a school where you go every summer until the age of 18 and at the end of it based off of your skill level and you auditioning for various jobs and duties you are given like a job and that prestige of that job can vary depending on your skill level so the beginning of the book she basically finds out about this world for the very first time as her brother wasn't allowed to disclose any of it to his family and he's also been missing and she travels there and it's just like classic it's just so good for one you have an incredible main character in amari she's determined and headstrong the love she has for her family and her brother is just absolutely wonderful um but she also is kind of like this chosen one character brother being so talented and so smart um and her being kind of the younger sibling i feel like she's kind of always grown up in his shadow and that was kind of the reality in her normal life but now that she's in this bureau of supernatural affairs it's similar because when she arrived she basically discovers that her brother was one of the most famous agents um for like protecting humans and supernatural creatures alike so she kind of arrived on the scene knowing nothing but everyone knows who she is she's incredibly notorious um if you have a lot of expectations for her given her you know her brother's success in the bro it definitely has that person introduced to a magical world for the first time chosen one vibe school competition setting friendship adventure mystery puzzles and i feel like this is a series that's setting itself up for a lot of books because right now she's i want to say like middle school age but again it said that they'll be in the borough to the age of 18 so in theory there could be a bunch of books leading up to graduation but the first 100 pages have been absolutely captivating just kind of learning about the world and the magic it just has everything all about middle grade whimsy great characters magic and i just love love love love this sort of like secret society uh magical thing that's happening unbeknownst to normal humans it's just such a trope that never gets old like percy jackson and so many other great middle grades too and amari the knight brothers is proving to be very very excellent so far and it's captured my attention right away and the audiobook is great i listened to 100 like three hours of it um with no problems so that's the plan there i think i am going to make dinner now but now i think i'm gonna make an easy dinner because i'm just trying to focus on the reading you know the reading component of this reading blog and so far i've read 360 pages which i am pretty jazzed with but i'm gonna go figure out dinner now but i will check in in a bit all right i've decided on my dinner for the evening nothing beats crack macaroni and cheese they're just stove spot mac and cheese just an absolute comfort food for me so we're gonna make this watch one episode of a k drama and then go back to reading oh my god matilda is playing with my curtains what is she up to what is she doing stuff she's not allowed to do matilda yeah you're caught you're caught oh my god what is happening a truly impeccable bowl of mac and cheese and i am watching hometown cha-cha-cha i'm on episode 3 the show is on netflix it's so wholesome and heartwarming and cute and soft and it makes me impeccably happy when i watch it so sneaking in an episode tonight and then it's back to my book which i'll finish and then i will start book three how does that sound matilda episode three of hometown cha-cha-cha is complete that show is truly oh matilda's joining me hello um but now i'm gonna lay in bed i'm gonna finish the inheritance of okay davina right now i have about 150 pages left so i feel like i'll be able to do that quickly and then i already have my third book redemptor all prepped and ready to go which i feel like i'll be able to finish by the afternoon tomorrow which is when the end of this vlog is so i'm gonna sit read hang out with millie and finish my first official book of this vlog it's me making excellent progress i only have 75 pages left of this book and i must say it's continuing to just be impeccable both the books i have picked up so far for this 24 hour reading vlog have just been so good but truly this book is just housing like all of my favorite things from just like the overall style and quality of the story but i also feel like this book is delivering like just like a lot to keep you very engaged in the story obviously it opens with this funeral and you have all these questions and you're introduced to the family those are obviously coupled with chapters of arcadia's past as we kind of learn about the different events and circumstances and decisions she's made in her life that have ultimately gonna impact every generation of her family to this moment but there's also the shift in this book where there's kind of a level of urgency and fear as there seems to be a figure haunting them from arcadia's past um and it's rather intense like it almost has like a thriller component it's this like dark mysterious dark magic thing that's like following them around and people are dying truly puts you on edge especially because you feel so rooted in this family story from arcadia's early life to you know three generations later following her grandchildren just trying to find their way and trying to unpack the magical gift that they have been left with there's just so much in here it's just so good like it's like a family saga there's family drama there's like self-discovery generational heritage and like expectation there's fate and magic and love and there's also like this mystery um and that like crosses oceans like it's just such an interesting book it's so well written uh all the characters you follow from obviously arcadia when you follow her as a young girl grimar and rey and everyone i just i'm really loving this book so much and i feel like i'm going on and on about it i only have about 75 pages left and i truly have no idea who what where why how but it's just like magical like it's such a wonderfully written like literary tale which is the perfect amount of magic too like everything has a touch of magic and it's just so good it's also like unexplained magic which all in all is just better like better for the vibe of the book um but i'm gonna finish this now take like a five minute break and then i'm going to start redempter which is right over there anyone was wondering what the rest of my little family is doing whilst i have a read-a-thon i told this with me and clay you might be able to hear he's in the living room watching watching this classic what's up i finished i completed this book it's 321 pages and i loved every single second of it and with amari and the night brothers which i listened to earlier today i have read 421 pages and now i'm going to jump into the third book of this vlog which is redemptor i'm just going to try to read as much as i can before falling asleep tonight this book is i want to say about 300 pages as well just over 300 pages so i feel like i should be able to get a good jump start on this and possibly finish it tomorrow but i loved ray bear so much in the writing so i just have such high hopes about this book and the end of ray bear was absolutely so explosive so i'm excited to see where the sequel takes off but absolute total success so far everyone needs to go and check out this book it's amazing and i already know redemptor is going to be amazing so i feel like an absolute win an absolute win overall it's me i'm here i've been reading redemptor i have to just also just shout out look how beautiful this hardcover is i mean absolutely stunning um yeah so this book is absolutely fantastic from the get-go clay's over there playing video games so apologies but i loved ray bear when i read it earlier this year just the writing kind of the fairy tale quality the magic and the amount of plot the author honestly packed into a very short book like the arc of the story was absolutely fantastic and it's only gonna get more wild with the second one due to some political circumstances that really exploded and also does a fantastic job um summarizing kind of all the events of the last book in like two pages or those two pages and i was like ah yes i remember everything and i was like perfectly and immediately settled into this story but i'm really looking forward to this because it kind of has like not so much it's kind of like a trial component but kind of like a quest component which i always really enjoy and fantasy stories and i don't know just the characters and everything about it like the friendship there's just so many things love so far i've only read about 70 pages i'm going to read more tonight but with those 70 pages i have read over 500 pages so far today which i'm really pleased with and then i have all morning tomorrow to do more reading as i'll be honest i'm getting a little sleepy but i am going to read more tonight before i go but yeah just this why fantasy series i just feel like is so unique it's so unique both in plot but also just writing and the quality to it is just superb and i'm so happy i am liking the second one as much as i am so far and uh i'll talk more about the magic in the world tomorrow when my brain is more in order but it's just like truly so unique um and i love it so much but i'm gonna get back to it i feel like half my vlog just me laying down on the couch or in my bed but i've also just been doing that all day trying to read as much as possible so good night good morning everyone spending this morning enjoying the gloomy weather as you can see but i'm also reading matilda is here being extra snuggly isn't that right knowing it's your tail um but yeah i'll do a checking in a bit once i have read more and had my cup of coffee hi friends i am dressed so i just thought i would quickly show you what i'm wearing and i'm about to cut up some fruit sit down and actually finish this book but i owe you guys a reading check-in but oh my gosh this book reads so fast my camera focus is also focusing on this beautiful foiling on the hardcover but i'm loving it so much i'm also very much on track to finish two books um and i think i'll listen to some more of amari in the night brothers but i'm definitely doing really well in terms of page count but just wanted to say hello i'm dressed and for some reason that is always something for me to be proud of because sometimes putting on pants is hard hi i'm here got my bowl of morning fruit gotta love it and i wanted to do a reading update of everything i was able to read last night because i think i left you guys after i had read about 500 pages i had finished the inheritance of arcadia the vina i've read 100 pages of amari and the knight brothers and last night i was able to pass well into the 500 total pages read by reading redemptor by jordan ifueko and i have passed a 200 page mark of this book which actually puts me at like 600 and like 30 40 pages or something like that but i owe you guys a reading update for this because i'm loving it so much i mean i love ray bear and i do feel like i need to give you guys some context about this story so obviously this is a sequel the first one is ray bearer and we follow main character tara sai and the first one it actually follows tarasai through a large portion of her life we follow her from childhood through like early adulthood and then this book basically takes place right after the events of the first book um but in that story she's basically raised by this person called the lady and she's raised for the purpose of trying out for this council um to ultimately then kill the prince in this world the magic is really interesting so for one people can have individual abilities called a holo and our main character tara size hollow is basically she's able to walk in people's dreams and also share memories but also in this world there is an empire that is controlled by one central individual and they maintain their power as well as their basically their immortality by having these council of individuals and they're all connected mentally as well as like physically through this connection the ember the crown prince is able to not die by a variety of means outside of old age so in book one tarasai is trying out for this council accepted into this council and it's all about kind of this interconflict of going against sort of familial expectations and becoming involved in a new found family not to mention there's magic and politics and all types of conspiracy happening behind the scenes as well in fact the end of the first one is incredibly explosive in terms of politics but just the writing of this particular series is so good definitely has like folklore fantasy vibes it's definitely inspired by historical references and the whole setting and just everything is built so richly as well as just the writing is really really captivating the characters are wonderful and in general something i appreciate about this particular series is how it shows different types of bonds and love so familial friendship and romantic bonds are all very present and are all very deep and especially given this council everyone is connected literally mentally they have such deep personal bonds with each other but they're all varied and i just appreciate how jordan fueko kind of shows the importance of different types of bonds and how i guess support and reliance can kind of show itself in different ways amongst characters i just feel like the relationships in this particular series are so well plotted and just lovely to read more about the second book so the events of ray bear are absolutely wild at the end and i would say the political consequences of that are very much present within this story which is why i think i'm even liking it more than the first one i love ray barracks i just felt like we were so settled in tarasai's life we followed her again from a young child through these trials as well as being involved within this council but this one is so much more about like empire-wide politics kind of taking a look at the establishment and kind of fighting for change and fighting to break the status quo realizing that just because something has been a certain way for centuries doesn't mean it needs to persist and kind of taking a deeper look at the empire-wide politics that honestly haven't been revealed to her and her other council members and kind of realizing where certain individuals are taking advantage he's also working to make various alliances with other rulers that are kind of present around the empire which i find really interesting you get a bit of a look into their political structure and system and i'm hoping to have even more of that throughout the end of the story and with all of that there's also quite a bit of emotional turmoil as tarasai is continuing to have to confront hard truths and also kind of face her own fate and reality and make choices for herself and continue to evolve as a person and as a person in power which can put her at odds with people that she loves and cares about so much and that sort of dissonance is something she's also working through within this story but i am loving redemptor it's so good just the magic the setting the politics the characters and again this second book has captured me from page one i don't know how the author is able to pack so much plot and like realistic world building and everything is paced properly and really not a very long book she did it in ray barron she's doing it again in redemptor but i am going to go finish this book now but i wanted to give you guys kind of an update on my thoughts and feelings and it's basically like i really like this book a lot so i'm gonna go read the last 130 pages of this now while i'm gonna eat my fruit and then i'll read the last 130 pages of redemptor and i finished that was the weirdest angle to pick up a book but i finished redempter and wow i really enjoyed it i feel like i've already done a really long clip talk about all the things i love but what a journey it's just so intense the pacing the characters specifically with terrace eye i loved seeing the journey of her kind of having to deal with the mantle of having more power more responsibility and just expectation and kind of working through physical manifestations of self-doubt let's say and just in general her kind of meeting and growing close with different types of people from all around the empire i just really enjoyed that political aspect of it as well as it's still having kind of emotional component to it the end was absolutely explosive i just love jordan fuecko's writing so so much and i flew through this book and with the completion of this book which is 323 pages i also completed a book that was 321 pages so that's 644 pages i've also listened to a hundred pages of omari and the night brothers that's 743 pages hopefully four pages 744 pages so i'm honestly really really pleased with that i still have about an hour left of this 24 hour read-a-thon so i think i'm gonna put on amarine the night brothers and listen to it now and make some lunch to enjoy but redemptor was just as good as i thought it would be really really enjoyed it and uh i read so much let's get this sandwich party started also the key to a really tasty sub in my opinion so happy to be back in the land of hgb is olive oil and some oregano and then salt and pepper it really like escalates the whole experience elevates the whole experience i should say yum time to eat hi everyone and welcome to the end of the vlog the next day and i have to say i am very pleased with the amount i was able to read during this 24 hour readathon i completed two books and read over 800 pages as i was able to read about 170 pages of amari and the night brothers quick wrap up um mostly to say i read the inheritance of arcadia davina and this might be one of my favorite books of the year i expected to like it but i absolutely loved love love love this book please check it out if you have not already because it's so worth the hype new release incredible obviously i read the entirety of redemptor which i've already talked about at length incredible and then of course we also have mario the night brothers which i'm only 170 pages of the way through but loving it so much a wonderful set up to what i feel like is going to be an incredible middle grade fantasy series absolute knockout in terms of quality of the books i read for this vlog all of them were so good so please read them because i love them but anyway i hope you guys enjoyed this video and i will see you soon with another one soon goodbye\n"
