**The Blue Yeti Microphone: A Comprehensive Review**
As I took a closer look at the microphone itself, I was impressed by its top-notch construction. The entire shroud around the capsules is sturdy and well-made, ensuring that it won't get dented or damaged easily. This attention to detail is evident throughout the device, and it's clear that the manufacturers have put a lot of thought into its design.
**Physical Quality and Build**
The build quality of the microphone is exceptional. The materials used are premium, and the finish is smooth and even. The overall feel of the device in my hands was solid and reassuring, suggesting that it would be reliable and durable. While I did notice a slight play in the volume switch, this wasn't enough to detract from my overall impression of the microphone's quality.
**Features and Controls**
One of the standout features of the Blue Yeti is its comprehensive set of controls. On the front of the device, you'll find a mute button that allows for quick muting on the fly. This is a small but useful feature that can be a lifesaver in situations where you need to stop recording quickly. The volume control for the headphones is also well-designed and easy to use.
In addition to these controls, the microphone comes with a mini USB cable that plugs into your computer, making it convenient to use. There's also a headphone adapter included, which allows you to monitor your audio in real-time without any delay or lag. This feature is particularly useful for voiceovers and podcasting applications, where being able to listen back to your recording immediately can be incredibly valuable.
**Gain Control and Monitoring**
The Blue Yeti also features a gain control, which allows you to manually adjust the audio level to suit your needs. This is a rare feature in microphones at this price point, making it an excellent value for those who want more flexibility when it comes to recording.
Monitoring your audio on the fly is also a huge advantage of using the Blue Yeti. The headphone adapter makes it easy to listen back to your recordings without interrupting your workflow. This is particularly useful when working with clients or collaborators, as it allows you to provide real-time feedback and make adjustments on the fly.
**Patterns and Recording Capabilities**
The microphone also comes with four different patterns: cardioid, bidirectional, omnidirectional, and stereo. While I'll focus more on voiceovers in this review, it's worth noting that these patterns can be useful for a variety of applications, from podcasting to music recording.
In my testing, the cardioid pattern worked particularly well for voiceovers. It helped to block out background noise and focus attention on the speaker's voice. I was impressed by how effectively the microphone captured my voice, even at moderate distances from the device. The gain control also proved useful in this context, allowing me to fine-tune the audio level to suit my needs.
**Conclusion**
Overall, I'm extremely impressed with the Blue Yeti microphone. Its top-notch construction, comprehensive set of controls, and excellent recording capabilities make it an excellent choice for anyone looking for a reliable and versatile microphone at this price point. Whether you're a voiceover artist, podcaster, or musician, the Blue Yeti is definitely worth considering.
WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: enhey guys so it's D here with an unboxing and review of the Blue Yeti USB desktop microphone now you guys may already be familiar with this microphone a lot of people on YouTube use it as well as doing podcasts and general audio work but of course I'll be giving you guys my full unboxing and review now before we get in usually just tear the box right open but I want did want to kind of give you guys a little uh a little overview of the box I actually did a pretty nice job of kind of explaining what some of the patterns are I'm giving you guys a little overview of what all the mic does of course I'll do that myself and also some more of these cool little characters so I don't know I just kind of appreciate when companies kind of put a little bit of effort into the boxes and kind of make it look little cool but now let's go ahead and pull it open here without looking kind of silly oh and of course there is a tab and I didn't bring a knife so see we can just pull that out here there we go no problems and let's go ahead and pull this microphone out and see what all we get in the Box all right so we've liberated this from the original box so I think let's go ahead and take a look at what all we get so for starters does look like we have a USB cable and I believe that is a mini USB cable so looks fairly long I would guess probably 6 feet or so give you more than enough room up top here we have blue yeti looks like an instruction manual or of some sort kind of probably telling you a little bit about the microphone itself and looks like we next do have the microphone itself I'll be guys that's about going to be about it for the unboxing portion stay tuned I'm going to go ahead and spend the next couple of weeks on this uh test testing it out seeing what I think so I will be right back with my full review all right so I've now been using the Blue Yeti for a couple of weeks now and I got to say it's pretty solid uh so some of the things I've been doing with it as I've been using it to record pretty much all the audio for my videos this one of course not included uh but I've been pretty much using it to do all kinds of audio recording I've also used it for my live streams and the audio is pretty solid but there are some other things I do want to talk about before I get into the specifics of that uh so one of the big things is is the size now when I first got this I was like you know taking out of the box and you know looking at like wow this is a really really big microphone and it's kind of hard to get a good sense of scale on the camera but I would say it's at least a foot tall or so it's really quite large especially with the uh St as you can see here it extends the height quite a bit um now I found this actually works really quite nicely when it's sitting on your desk it's at about a nice height for you to speak into it it's not you have to crouch down or anything like that um so actually I really quite like that now speaking of the stand it is really quite nice um so as you guys can see here of course this my microphone see on here you can just screw it into pretty much any microphone adapter and you allow you to use it you know on a boom arm or anything you like however the stand that it comes with is really quite nice it is made out of I believe that's that's I don't know what kind of I'm awful at telling what kind of metal it is but it's definitely metal and very very heavy um this is actually something really surprised me when I you know first picked this up is the stand and the microphone itself are very heavy but it works well you know if it's on your desk you don't want it to accidentally get knocked down or something as you guys can see here it's not really going anywhere uh so beyond that you guys can see see the microphone itself and it all is the construction is very very topnotch um and see here the entire uh the Shroud around the capsules is you know just fine you don't have to worry about it you know getting dented and all that kind of stuff um and the overall build quality I found is absolutely topnotch uh maybe the only thing that I might have a slight complaint about is this volume switch now this is the volume for the headphones which I'll talk about that in just a second um you guys can see here got a little bit of uh a little bit of play in it certainly not a big deal I don't really think it's going to be breing or anything but it is something I did want to mention uh now let's go ahead and go quickly over some of the features of the microphone so up front here you guys have a mute button so if you really want to quickly mute it on the fly so if you know you're doing something you just want to have a hard button to mute it you can certainly do that now this is to control the volume for the headphones if I flip it over here on the bottom you guys will see here you have the mini USB cable which is where you plug it in obviously to your computer I just keep it plugged in for convenience sake and we also do have a headphone ad adapter this is for a 3.5 mm headset this actually works really quite nicely this allows you to uh monitor your audio on the Fly you don't need to worry about you know any delay or lag or anything like that and I found it's really really nice to have on a microphone of this quality and you know of course this price uh turning it around to the bat you guys will see here it does have a gain control so again something that you will not won't find on a lot of other desktop microphones in this price range is a lot of physical controls which I found is very very helpful so so like I said you have your gain control so you can manually adjust the audio and you know pair it up with listening to it on headphones you can really get the optimal audio performance and you not having to you know kind of start and stop and look at your audio and play back and all that kind of stuff it's a little bit messy so just being able to do that is very very simple now on the back here you guys will see his pattern now I did mention this in a previous video but it does have four patterns uh now of course these are all suited to different needs and because it does have three capsules in there for recording on all sides um it does work really quite nicely uh now I'm going to mostly talk about this from the point of doing voiceovers and that kind of stuff because that's mainly what I use it for and when you have it on the cardioid pattern it works really well but I know you guys don't have to take my word for it let me go ahead and give you a quick sample all right so I'm now recording using the Blue Yeti microphone uh so I am using the cardioid pattern which is optimal for voiceovers which I'm doing right now kind of helps block out some of the background noise and everything kind of more focus on what exactly is in front of the microphone I'm have a pretty short distance between myself and the microphone uh you know to get the best thing and I also do have the gain turned down somewhat it's about two about oneir or so through so anyway guys this is a quick test of the audio quality on the Blue Yeti microphone overall I'm quite impressed with the Blue Yeti microphone the audio quality matches or exceeds a lot of its competitors and where it really shines is with the physical controls of course with the mute and being able to monitor your audio all that really makes this a solid microphone so if you guys are looking for a microphone around this price point I have no problems recommending the Blue Yeti I'd like to give a big thanks to the folks over at Blue for providing this microphone to me for free to review so if you guys are interested you can definitely check them out at the link in the description if you guys enjoyed this video definitely be sure to leave a thumbs up and if you're interested in more be sure to subscribehey guys so it's D here with
