The W Show: A Review of the Surface Pen and Microsoft's Genius
As I sit here with my Surface device, I'm met with frustration because I've been struggling to get the pen to stash properly. The Geniuses at Microsoft must be very smart, but it seems that even their own engineers have come up with a solution that's not entirely satisfactory. There's a little magnet on the charging port where you're supposed to attach the pen, but somehow this simple mechanism has been missed.
In order to make use of the pen, I need to stick a sticker on the device and then put the pen through the loop on the sticker. It's almost like they've engineered a fraction of a scent solution to a problem that actually matters – it's a clever idea, but not necessarily the most practical one. The reason I like how my 2DS is made is because it's super easy to get the pen out; there's a colored piece of plastic on the back where the pen goes, making it simple to grab and put back.
I've had some issues with the keyboard, specifically the Type Cover. While some people have been critical of its design, I find it surprisingly good. The keyboard itself is thin, but that's part of its charm. If it were fantastic, I would have kept it – unfortunately, it's not quite up to par.
The Keyboard is Not the Main Issue
I've noticed that many people are complaining about the keyboard, saying that it's not as good as they expected. However, I find that it's actually quite decent once you get used to it. The Type Cover keyboard has its quirks, but overall, I think it's a solid piece of hardware.
One thing that's become apparent is that Twitter is a great platform for getting in touch with people. As someone who only accepts messages on Twitter and Facebook, I've noticed that my inbox can get pretty full. However, when I finally do check my messages, they're often quick to respond.
The Importance of Asking Questions
One of the most frustrating things about being online is getting questions that are too long for a tweet. Unfortunately, this seems to be a common issue – people will post lengthy questions, hoping that someone will respond and provide an answer. The problem is, I get so many messages like this all at once.
The Solution: Ask on the Forum
In order to avoid overwhelming myself with long questions, I recommend posting your query on the Linus Tech Tips Forum instead. This platform has become a go-to resource for tech-savvy individuals who want to ask and answer questions. Not only does it provide a better experience for everyone involved, but it also means that you're more likely to get an accurate response.
Charity Stream and Afterparty
Finally, I want to mention that I'll be doing my 24-hour charity stream soon, which I mentioned earlier this weekend. The event will take place on Afterparty tonight, and I'm excited to connect with all of you who have been supporting me.
I've always been a fan of the classic TV show Child's Play – it's a cult favorite that never fails to put a smile on my face. Maybe one day we'll even get a junk physics shirt with a Linus Tech Tips logo... but for now, that's just a pipe dream.
Junk Physics and Beatboxing
As I wrap up this episode of The W Show, I'm reminded of the importance of having fun and being creative. Even something as mundane as beatboxing can be enjoyable – although, admittedly, I'm not quite good enough to make it sound like real music.
In conclusion, that's all for today's show. If you're tuning in late, don't worry – the archive will be available on YouTube sometime soon. And if you're one of our loyal viewers who has been complaining about how long it takes for the archive to go up, rest assured that it'll be worth the wait.
