Audi S4 Review!- Supercharger Whine for Days!

The Audi S4: A Masterclass in Refinement and Performance

As we step inside the 2013 Audi S4, it's clear that this car is a masterclass in refinement and performance. The interior materials are indeed fantastic, a testament to Audi's reputation for creating well-appointed cabins that are both stylish and comfortable. One of the standout features is the flat bottom steering wheel, which may initially seem uncomfortable but in reality, we find it to be quite pleasant. The addition of a small gauge on the air conditioning vent provides an array of useful information, including air fuel ratios and boost pressure, although this feature is not stock and comes from P3 cars.

The exhaust system on this car is noteworthy, featuring a non-resonated downpipe that gives the car its distinctive "wolf and sheep's clothing" sound. This is a characteristic often associated with German cars, which have long been renowned for their refinement and quiet operation when cruising. However, as soon as you want to get aggressive, the S4's supercharged V6 makes its presence known with a deep, throaty growl that is both menacing and exhilarating.

One of the most striking aspects of this car is its color combination – specifically, the white paint job paired with black wheels. This pairing has become one of the most popular color schemes in automotive history, and on the S4, it looks particularly stunning, especially when paired with the large brakes that adorn the rear wheels. The pistons calipers are a notable feature, stopping the car almost instantly.

One of the standout aspects of the S4's supercharger system is its instant torque delivery. Whether cruising down a country road or accelerating out of a corner, the car responds with predictable and linear power delivery, making it feel almost too good to be true. The engine itself is a screaming V6, providing an addictive and thrilling driving experience that's hard to resist.

In terms of handling, the S4 is remarkably close to stock, with only minor tweaks to the downpipe, exhaust, and intake system contributing to its performance. This allows the car to showcase its true potential, which in this case is a potent 333 horsepower and 325 ft-lb of torque. The transmission is a smooth-shifting six-speed unit, while the shifter and clutch are designed to provide instant and seamless engagement.

Despite its impressive performance capabilities, the S4 remains comfortable and refined on the highway, making it an excellent choice for daily driving. The seats are supportive and sporty, providing a high level of feedback and control when navigating twisty roads. Meanwhile, the gauges in the center of the dashboard provide a wealth of information, including clock, date, mileage, navigation, and more.

In an era where downsizing engines has become increasingly popular, it's worth noting that the S4's supercharged V6 is actually a major improvement over its predecessor. While gas mileage may not have improved dramatically, the car remains fast and responsive, making it a compelling alternative to larger engines. The use of a root-style supercharger allows for more efficient boost delivery, resulting in a smoother and more predictable power delivery.

Conclusion

In conclusion, the Audi S4 is an exceptional vehicle that showcases the brand's expertise in creating refined, high-performance cars. With its impressive supercharged V6 engine, smooth-shifting transmission, and comfortable interior, it's no wonder this car has become a fan favorite among driving enthusiasts. Whether cruising down the highway or carving through twisty roads, the S4 is an absolute joy to drive, providing an addictive and thrilling experience that's hard to resist.

"WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: enso today ladies and gentlemen we are in a 2013 Audi S4 it has a supercharged V6 with 333 horsepower and 325 ft-lb of torque inside the materials are fantastic Audi has always been one of those car companies that you just pretty much know it's going to be a nice interior inside there's been some flak with journalist that they haven't changed up the interior for a long time but it's one of those if it ain't broke don't fix it Interiors it has a flat bottom steering wheel which it you would think would be kind of uncomfortable but I kind of like the feeling of it there's a little gauge on the air conditioning vent that tells you a whole bunch of stuff you have your air fuel ratios your boost gauge whole nine yards and if the car is not on you don't see the numbers so when you turn the car on it just it just appears you're like I did not know that was there the gauge is actually not stock it comes from P3 cars but it it's to the point point where it looks stock so it's just not there it's not like you have these big old pillar pods right here or anything like that the exhaust system on this car has a non-resonated downpipe it's awe and so it's full cback the great part about it is German cars have always had this reputation of refinement and being quiet inside when you don't want to be getting on it and this does it perfectly even with this aftermarket exhaust but as soon as you want to get on it the wolf and sheep's clothing decides to come out it's so weird being in a non-american car that's making supercharger wine this V6 in particular makes a really good aggressive sound another thing about this car is that there's just something about white and black cars when they're together the white with the black Wheels I mean it's one of the most popular color combinations ever but on this car it looks great especially when you see the big old brakes behind the wheels the brakes on this car are these huge piston calipers and they stop almost instantaneously the great thing about the supercharger though in this rout system is that you have instant torque like that I'm in third right now at 40 and you're already moving and there's no lag like a turbo setup and it's just more of that fun pey feeling even though superchargers are kind of known as the kind of power adders that don't add as much power they generally have a much more even Power Band much more linear if that makes sense so when you have horsepower and torque around the same especially when you're going down a back road or something along those lines and you want to come out of a corner it's almost perfect you don't really have any unpredictable boost coming out of nowhere you know exactly how the car is going to feel the engine in this thing is like screaming like it's on a roller coaster that's exactly the vibe I'm getting the thing about cars like Audi Mercedes BMW is that they're Masters At The Wolf and sheep's clothing system I mean I recently drove the AMG Black Series through New York City and with that instant torque it it just surprised you every time cuz yeah it's an aggressive looking car from the outside but you would never expect it to have that much horsepower and that much torque this doesn't have as much horsepower but it gives a very similar feeling to where you have this almost very mean and intimidating looking Audi front end but you still would be like oh that's a nice clean commuter car but it's it's pretty intense all in all the car is very close to stock I mean there's the downpipe and the exhaust and there's also an intake which helps just that little bit but overall as a car it's pretty much stock but what's amazing about these cars is as platforms they're awesome so if you did a flash tune for example you can get potentially some crazy horsepower numbers say if you went to somebody at APR or something like that you know guys at APR they tuned the GTI reviewed and I've been in stock GTI and when I was in that other GTI it was Unreal how different it was with just things such like an underdrive pulley you can get the car up to 430 horsepower so that's pretty impressive gains from stock Eternal stock everything transmission is also a six-speed the shifter is extremely light along with the clutch so so as soon as I got into this car I didn't even come close to stalling out I felt where the threshold was where the clutch started grabbing and just went it's kind of funny you get in this car and it's very nice very luxurious so I guess for some people it might be intimidating to get something like this but it's really not it's super easy to drive and the visibility is great I've never had any trouble looking around knowing where I was and you have back seats you have four doors a back seat and these seats in particular are very very nice they're definitely more sporty and I don't know if I was on a long road trip if my back would hurt or not but they definitely grab you when you're going around corners and that kind of thing another great thing is in the middle of the gauges you have a bunch of information you got your clock you got your date you got your how many miles you have left in your tank and you also have a nav and the way they've positioned it is where you really don't have to redirect where you're looking you don't have to go all the way over here or all the way over there it's dead center so you know exactly what you're doing every time you get on it it's so controllable and you just grin cuz you have this nice aggressive V6 and the supercharger wine just adds that little bit of theater to it a little bit of drama so let's get a little bit of this exhaust and you know in this is the day and age where people are starting to down size on engines and a lot of people are frowning upon that I mean you got even the 4 GT going to A2 turbo V6 and who would have thought that would have happened but with this with the previous models with rs4s and S4s and all that Shenanigans they used to have V8s in them and now they have the supercharged V6 which I don't think a lot of people should frown upon I mean it's proved itself today it's driven very smoothly around town and when you get on it it's still fun I mean it's faster than the previous model anyway so it doesn't really even matter no does it one thing about it is even though they downsize to a V6 it's not like the gas mileage got that much better cuz they're still using a root style supercharger which you're almost always in boost so from that aspect it was kind of weird that they did that all right guys I want to thank you all so much for watching this quick little review video I appreciate every single one of you for stopping by I want to thank Justin so much for driving from downtown Tampa here to let me drive this beautiful beautiful Audi and I'll see you guys next time and take it easy have a good one one GL\n"
