The Upstairs Media Room: A Cozy Fall Retreat

As I walk up to my upstairs media room, I'm immediately struck by the cozy atmosphere that's been created here. The room is filled with warm and inviting elements that scream fall, from the orange-toned blankets to the pumpkin picks on the wall. My goal was to create a space that would be perfect for relaxing and watching movies or TV shows, and I think I've succeeded.

One of the first things you'll notice when entering the media room is the fireplace. I had this installed recently, and it's been a game-changer for creating ambiance in the space. The soft flicker of the flames adds a warm glow to the room, making it feel even cozier than it already does. I've also added some comfortable throw blankets in orange and white hues to complement the autumnal color scheme.

To further enhance the fall vibe, I've brought out the pumpkin picks that were originally hanging on my lower TV stand. These little orange decorations add a pop of color to the room and help tie everything together. The existing garland on this wall already had a warm feel to it, so adding the pumpkins was the perfect way to bring in some extra fall flair.

I've also decided to get creative with twinkle lights, which I think will really make the space shine. I'm considering using orange or clear lights that can be strung along the TV stand, and I think this will add a fun and cozy touch to the room. It's one of those little details that can take a space from just "watching movies" to "having a movie night."

In terms of decorating, I've kept things relatively simple here in the media room. This is not a spot where I feel the need to go over-the-top with decorations, but rather a place where I want to relax and unwind. That being said, I have added some personal touches that make this space feel like my own. For example, the comfy throw pillow on this corner table is one of my favorites - it's a great shade of green and adds a nice pop of color to the room.

For the most part, the decorating process has been a slow and thoughtful one here in the media room. I've taken my time getting everything just right, and I'm really happy with how things have turned out. The result is a space that's warm, inviting, and perfect for curling up on chilly fall evenings.

finally here so we're upstairs in my media room or i guess you could call it a bonus room because maybe a media room suggests like certain type of seating and lighting i don't really know like the official but we call it the meeting room we've got our posters got the tv and so we're going to transform this space into fall very excited so i'm going to go ahead and give you guys a quick tour of what it looks like just every day and then the changes that we're going to make plus brand new furniture that just arrived and i'm so excited for it so let's take a look start with this back wall here sorry if the lighting is going to adjust because of the window but you can see that we added some twinkle lights there is a full decorating video of this room linked down below so that way you guys have any questions on where anything is at it will be listed in that video but again just wanted to give you guys like a quick tour on what we're working with i feel like already the colors that i have um of my like normal everyday style also will be complementary to fall so i'm not going to be changing too too much but we do have our posters here so in this video hopefully if hobby lobby has all of them in stock we will be changing these out i am actually filming this in two different days the furniture is actually the tv stand and it's not as long as the one before so that's why i moved the blanket rack there because otherwise i just felt like something below that sign was just missing oh my gosh this is just absolutely dreamy for me especially being upstairs where there's no fireplace it does get very cold in texas so used and loved and i'm so super excited about it eventually i am going to mount my tv on the wall i just feel like this is a 60 inch stand by the way i'll link it down below it does come in another color so this is the darker one it comes in another lighter color and natural i believe i think they have a smaller like 50 inch as well but this is a 60 inch tv so it just kind of like takes up the whole space there so eventually i'm just gonna mount the tv and then we're gonna do some fall blankets yeah so anyways uh let's go ahead and get to decorating so do so so my all right it's time for the final reveal of everything together so when you first walk in this is the look that you get i really love the cute little white pumpkins as you saw in the beginning of this video i was actually gonna go with like an orange pumpkin theme but in the end i actually decided to switch it out with white i just didn't think that the orange was working very well with my existing color palette i thought it was just feeling a little forced so i decided to go with white because i used white last year downstairs in my living room and i wasn't going to use white again down there so i thought well i have these white pumpkins so let me use them up here and i'm really glad i did because i think it just looks so much better what i wanted to make sure that i did was add pumpkins wherever i could just to give it an extra feeling of fall especially because i went with white pumpkins instead of like traditional colored pumpkins i feel like you know the white does tend to blend in especially with my existing aesthetic so i wanted to make sure you know i added little touches wherever i could to really push like the fall look so anyways we've got cluster of little ceramic pumpkins here and then i'm just going to take you guys towards this back window sorry that the camera is going to adjust to make a little bit darker but the twinkle lights are so pretty i'm going to i keep these up year round and but for fall it's just going to make it in my opinion even more magical and cozy it's just very inviting and makes me want to be in this room in this back corner i didn't do anything just kept it pretty simple as is over here i kept it also really simple i just added one little pumpkin so this is my existing decor as you guys saw starting off and all i did was place a little pumpkin there really cute just doesn't really need much there's already a lot going on on this space so one little pumpkin did its job for me we have a basket of blankets so we've got those back here and then when we move around this way you can just see the entire space all the little spots of pumpkins like even right there that was another pumpkin that i just thought once i placed it there it really changed the whole space even though this plaid you know really says fall the moment i added the pumpkin i think it changed it even more so super cute love that and then i did keep my pillows the same the reason why i decide to keep my pillows with my everyday is because i recently just decorated this space and i didn't want to just dive into pillows pillows are really hard for me to kind of decorate with and so i definitely wanted to work the fall decor around what i had going on here and you know what i think it really works next year i'll probably end up doing specialized fall pillows but i do feel like these colors kind of have a fall look already with the creams and the green so really like it and then i wanted to double layer the blankets here i also thought that that would kind of give it a fall sign as well you know just the blankets because it gets colder out and then um originally i plan to only have this blanket on this piece right here but i think the double layer just makes it look even more cozy and especially since this bottom one is just a very neutral color it just adds to the layering depth and then kept this one with the print and then the white pumpkin so i really love that this piece right here you guys saw in the beginning i added the orange little pumpkins i wasn't sure how i really wanted to tackle it and then when i realized i didn't want to do the orange pumpkins i decided to pull them off and in the end i thought you know what i'm just going to leave this alone so maybe next year we'll do something a little bit different but because i have this piece so close to the garland i didn't want to add little white pumpkins like i did to this other wall decor you'll see it in a second um so i just decide you know what i think this is great and we'll just leave it as is but really let's address my favorite part this is why i love decorating the space it's our little movie room media room bonus room whatever you want to call it but the posters have always been like a dream of mine since the last house i knew i always wanted to do like interchanging posters for seasons and holidays so i think this is like my first official fall reveal i've done halloween but i haven't technically done fall posters and it really was hard for me to pick some new posters they're actually not that easy to find i really wanted teen witch which you know really could be more halloween than fall but in the end the new ones if you're new to my channel i've had breakfast club for a while and i've had goonies for a while and obviously goonies is sticking around yet again it's my favorite childhood movie it's my favorite current movie anyway so and it's fall for me because it kind of starts where they're like going to school and you know school kind of starts in the fall so um that's why i've kept goonies up and the same thing with breakfast club you know they're they're in school you can even see by like their outfits with the jackets it's definitely fall season so that's what i was looking for movies that i thought you know i watch during fall i'm very like religious about watching certain movies for certain seasons so like before you guys saw a weekend at bernie's that's a very summer movie to me it's hot during the movie they go to the beach so that got put away and i'll bring it back again next year and then the two new posters are when harry met sally and mystic pizza both very fall movies actually when harry met sally i think goes through the seasons but it's really marketed mostly as fall because the most iconic scene which they've done like photos of is when they're walking through the park and it has all the fall colors so and then obviously you can see like even in the poster print they're dressed for colder weather so we've got one harry met sally and then mystic pizza i can't believe that there is a poster for these i get all of my posters by the way from amazon so i will link them down below for you but mystic pizza i'm just so excited about i love this movie i've put some of you on this movie as well and if you've never watched it watch it it's such a good movie um but also very fall there's a scene where julia roberts and this guy go on a date and they're in a porsche they're kind of driving by kind of they live in connecticut and there's a lot leaves all on the ground so it's a it's a fall movie for me as well now what i really wanted to happen in today's video is i wanted you guys to also see the reveal of the new poster frames you can see that these frames are black and i wanted white however when i went to hobby lobby um i did this kind of last minute they didn't have four white they only had two so in the end i'm just gonna order them from amazon but i don't have time to get those in and get this video released when i needed it to be released so you guys will see that update when i do my fall house tour so that's something to come back when that fall house tour hits which i imagine will be sometime in september by the way um then over here on this lamp and i will link as much as i can down below as well so this lamp is like from amazon um and i just added some pumpkins i tried to keep the existing decor but down here i actually replaced the little flower plant because this one has the plaid so i thought it was like really fall just stacked some pumpkins here i had these extra white ones and i thought let's use them so that's what i did love this lamp because i can do little things like that and decorate the shelves it's such a good lamp anyways and then oh my gosh this piece right here is just it's everything i love it um i think i mentioned this in the video if not this is also this isn't actually not from amazon i got mine from nebraska but i wished i got mine from amazon because it would have been cheaper and it would have been free delivery so you have to put it together by the way either way but on my vlog i mentioned how easy it was and it really was easy in my opinion so um and this thing does heat there's like heat levels and everything so i did not expect that i thought it was just like a visual effect but no this thing puts off heat so that's going to be really cool because typically upstairs for me no matter how much heat we kind of put on it just the upstairs stays a little bit colder so i think this will really help and i mean how do you not want to just come up here you know and just chill out and watch a movie with this going on um and then i also wanted to do a little garland effect i actually wanted to do some twinkle lights which i think i still might end up doing um and they might actually end up being orange twinkle lights or maybe just clear but just kind of string them along the tv i've seen that a lot in like instagram pics and pinterest and it just looks so fun and cozy so i think i might end up doing that as well that's something i would do here in this space i don't know if i would do it like on my main living room tv i definitely yeah i don't think i would but here i definitely think i would do it and then over on this wall here this is what i was talking about with the little orange are the pumpkin picks these are from hobby lobby this is my existing garland and then i just tucked the little pumpkins there so just kind of gives it a little bit more of a fall flare and this comfy cozy together sign is also from hobby lobby but i don't think it's available anymore it might still be i really don't know but at my stores i haven't seen it anymore and then down here had to switch out the blankets let me just scoot this way real quick i had to switch out the blankets and bring out the orange that's really what my goal was to have orange in the blankets but then have only white pumpkins you know so just still kind of brings in that fall factor and really love it these blankets i think are from tj maxx yeah tj maxx home goods i i don't remember which is which there might have been a haul or i might not have showed it in a haul i think i probably did originally this piece was right here which i really liked the look of it but i moved it because once i switched out my tv stand my other tv stand was really long so it kind of came out and then once i built that one it just the space needed something so i just moved the blanket rack over there and that blanket rack is also from amazon i bought it years ago but i think it's still available on amazon and i have it linked in my amazon storefront too by the way so i have like a whole store front and you can literally shop because i have my list split out between different spaces like my kitchen or my living room my library things like that so there's going to be a media room one for y'all and then i just put the thankful pillow here i actually really love the look of this because these are like two different shades of green and i can tend to have a hard time mixing shades of the same color together so my cup is over there that's not cute um but i really like how it kind of came together i've definitely felt like we needed some type of fall pillow and i think this one just does a really good job it's kind of understated goes with everything you know but there it is and then over in this corner we have i've added some pumpkins as well i want to have a fall candle but my stores you guys are just starting to put things out so i haven't really found some fall candles yet so in the in the full house tour hopefully you'll see that update i'm trying to keep track of like all of my um updates that need to be done but anyways that's this little table then we have the remotes here and that's it you guys this is the only space that i decorated for the upstairs this is what i consider to be the media room there's no other wall space that i decorated i hope you guys got any inspiration for my decorating that's literally why i do these videos so that you know if you just kind of need help you know designing a room for yourself hopefully what i've done gives you you know some ideas whether it's doing something exactly like this or this idea leads
