The 3500 from Fractal Design: A Scandinavian-Inspired Desk Setup
Hey guys, Eber here with Hard Conx, and I'm excited to share with you my desk setup that I use for editing videos. This setup is specifically designed for video editing, and it's been a game-changer for me. So, let's dive in and take a look at the different components that make up this amazing desk.
My Monitors: Outstanding Viewing Angles and Great Intermediate Color Work
To start with my monitors, I have two Dell U2412M 24" IPS monitors. These monitors offer outstanding viewing angles and great intermediate color work, making them perfect for video editing. The fact that they're both 1200p IPS monitors means that I can enjoy crisp and clear images, even when working on complex projects. Beside these monitors, I also have a BQ 1200p IPS monitor, which provides additional virtual real estate, allowing me to work with both Premiere and After Effects seamlessly.
My Peripherals: Corsair K95 Mechanical Keyboard and Myonix Avor 7000 Mouse
For my peripherals, I use a Corsair K95 mechanical keyboard. The Cherry MX red switches on this keyboard provide the perfect typing and gaming experience, and the backlit keys add a nice touch to the ambient lighting during the night. Another great feature of this keyboard is its ability to help me spice up the look of my desk with its customizable backlighting.
In addition to the keyboard, I also use a Myonix Avor 7000 mouse. This mouse is an absolute favorite of mine, thanks to its ergonomic design and customizable lighting. The lighting on this mouse allows it to stand out in the dark, making it easy to see when I'm navigating through my files or working on projects.
Audio Setup: Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 USB Audio Interface
My audio setup consists of a Focusrite Scarlet 2i2 USB audio interface. This interface provides high-quality music listening experience and precise audio monitoring for recording voiceovers. The speakers hooked up to this interface are the Edifier S33D, which are by far the best set of 2.1 channel desktop speakers available on the market. These speakers complement the full range sound perfectly, making it ideal for audio monitoring and listening.
In addition to the audio interface, I also use Audio-Technica M50 professional studio monitor headphones. These headphones produce a nice and balanced sound, are comfortable, durable, and affordable - something that's often lacking in consumer audio products.
Microphone: Audio-Technica AT 2350 Condenser Microphone
For my microphone, I use an Audio-Technica AT 2350 condenser microphone. This microphone provides consistent voiceover quality, thanks to its clarity and sensitivity. It's also worth noting that this microphone is the same model used by Demitri, which makes it a reliable choice for recording high-quality audio.
Media Card Reader: Kingston USB 3.0 Media Card Reader
My media card reader is a Kingston USB 3.0 media card reader. This device is incredibly fast when transferring data from my SD card to my computer, making it an essential component of my desk setup.
Video Production Equipment: Canon EOS 5D Mark II and Manfrotto MVH502A Fluid Head
For my video production equipment, I use a Canon EOS 5D Mark II camera. This camera is an absolute beast of a machine, with its high-quality image stabilization system making it perfect for recording smooth footage. The 24-105 F4 lens attached to this camera provides a versatile range of focal lengths, allowing me to capture stunning images.
In addition to the camera, I also use a Manfrotto MVH502A fluid head. This fluid head is designed specifically for film cameras and allows me to achieve smooth pan shots by adjusting the resistance of the fluid both horizontally and vertically. The base plate comes with a nice resistance lock that's something I really like about this product.
Tri-Cord Slider: Kenova K580 CM Tri-Cord Slider
My final piece of video gear is a Kenova K580 CM tri-cord slider. This slider has served me well for recording smooth, gliding footage over long distances. The base plate comes with a nice resistance lock that makes it easy to control the movement of the slider.
The Super Project: Building a Power Machine for After Effects and Premiere
Now, I'd like to take a moment to talk about my latest project - building an absolute power machine for After Effects and Premiere Pro. This setup is designed specifically for video editing and has been a game-changer for me. The desk itself is nicely cuddled in with blue lighting effects that remain quiet, making it perfect for working late into the night. With this setup, I'm able to work on complex projects with ease and achieve high-quality results.
