How to Add Picture and Picture Video in iMovie for iPad and iPhone
Everyone, Aron here for Zolote, and I wanted to show you how to add a picture and picture video in iMovie for iPad and iPhone. So, if you've been following these tutorials and this particular video was just how to use iMovie on iPad in general to do a full video or edit, now what you might want to do is put a picture on top of this particular video. And this version of movie allows you to do that.
It doesn't allow you to put a photo on top of the video in the corner. I'm not sure why they don't allow it, but at this time, it's not allowed. So, uh, that's one thing you can't do. However, we can put a video there. Let's go up to our video here and we'll select a video. Maybe we'll just pick this one. Now, what we need to do is tap on the video we want. Don't hit the down arrow and don't hit play. Hit the little three dots here for your additional options.
So, we hit this, and now we've got some options. This first one has to do more with audio. This next one will just overlay the video on top of the other one. The next one is picture and picture. And the next one is side by side. So, if we hit this button, it drops on top, and you can see it takes the whole video and drops it. So, you may need to edit it. And so, we'll do that. We'll wait until it moves. We'll tap on the video and just like the larger video, we can just drag and edit. Maybe I want to move it back here, uh, over here a bit maybe. And that's all you can do with it.
Now, you can't drag this and move it again. You'd have to actually go back and tap on it again, hit that button drop it in, tap on it, and then edit it to the exact spot I want. And maybe we'll edit it to the end of this clip. So, now you can see we have picture and picture both with moving video. Let me hit play here. Can see they both have moving video here. Now, you can't move this around to any corner you want unfortunately. Uh, it just doesn't seem to allow that.
However, you do have some other options here in the bottom. So, if you click on or tap on this little icon here, it brings up a bunch of options. Some of them we saw before, some of them we didn't. So, this will just overlay the video. It will take this video and put it over the top. And you won't see the other one. You can see that. Hit this button again. This one is side by side. Can see it moves. This one is the other side. So, it just reverses where they were.
This isn't a ton of options, but it does allow you to actually change your video quite a bit and do picture in picture. And I know a lot of you have asked me how to do that. So, I thought I'd make this quick video and show show you how. Now, if there's other things you'd like to learn how to do within iMovie for iPad and iPhone, please let me know in the comments below. Even if you have some questions about Final Cut Pro or iMovie on IMAX or Mac or whatever you're using, let me know again in the comments below.
