Garage Vlog Day 13

Good Morning from Houston: A Day 13 Update

Good morning and welcome to today's video, I'm Shannon, and we're on day 13 of our project. As you can see, it's time to start working on some of the inside stuff. Today, I'll be putting in insulation stops in all the eaves here. Actually, yeah, and all the eaves – I was gonna say I don't have to put them here because that Eve isn't vented, but I'm still gonna put them up there just to keep the insulation from blowing back in there. You can see the electrician has already completed most of his work on this area, so now it's time for me to get started.

I'll be putting in these insulation stops to prevent any debris or insulation from getting blown back into the house. As you can see, I've got my materials ready and everything is looking good. Next, I need to put an attic access back here – it's time to make sure this area is secure and safe for working with insulation.

Now that the electrician has completed his part of the job, it's my turn to focus on the interior. One thing I want to do today is install insulation in a specific wall. This particular wall is quite large, measuring 18 by 8 feet – no, not my truck, by the way! – and I'd like to add some extra support with OSB. By doing so, it will help strengthen this wall against any potential damage or stress from opening and closing doors. Since it's a big door, I want to make sure everything is secure and stable.

Once the OSB is installed, I'll be able to put in insulation and then frame the wall using 2 by 6 lumber, which will provide additional support for the hardware attached to the wall. With this extra layer of protection, we can ensure that our walls remain sturdy and safe throughout the entire project.

As the day comes to a close, I just want to finish up the vlog here. It's been a hot day, and nothing beats the feeling of being in the shade by three o'clock! To make sure everything runs smoothly, I've finished installing the poly vapor barrier on the entire ceiling – as I mentioned earlier, I went through this wall – so now it's ready for the next step.

To prepare for tomorrow, I'll be starting with OSB and finishing it off with a Rolo SB finish. In addition to that, I've secured an insulation stop behind one of the doors and sealed the attic access hatch in place using poly vapor barrier. It may not be visible, but these cardboard insulation stops will help keep our insulation in place.

That's all for today, folks! Time to wrap up this video and head home – until next time, when we'll check back on the progress of our project.
