How to Get the Most Out of Your Apple Watch: Tips and Tricks
Starting with watch OS 10, you can turn on your Apple watch flashlight from Control Center by simply pressing the side button and tapping the flashlight button. This feature allows you to have a steady white light or flashing white light at your disposal, making it easier to navigate in low-light environments.
Another useful feature is pinning widgets to the top of your smart stack for EAS access. To do this, turn the digital Crown, scroll down, and touch and hold the widget you'd like to pin. Tap the pin button, and it will now appear near the top of your screen. When you're finished, tap "Done" to complete the process.
If you need help finding your iPhone, pressing the side button opens Control Center, and tapping the Ping iPhone button brings up your device's location on a map. You can also touch and hold this button to make your iPhone flash, providing an additional visual cue to locate it. Furthermore, if you want extra assistance locating your iPhone, take a photo of it using your Apple watch and iPhone. First, open the Camera Remote app on your Apple watch and position your iPhone in frame. Then, use your Apple watch as the viewfinder and tap the shutter button. You have three seconds to capture a clear image before it's taken.
In addition to these features, you can view your Apple watch display on your iPhone by enabling Apple Watch Mirroring in Settings on your iPhone. To do this, scroll down and tap Accessibility, then scroll down again and tap Apple Watch Mirroring. Once enabled, your Apple watch display will appear on your iPhone screen. You can navigate your Apple watch using your iPhone screen just like you would on your wrist.
When working out or engaging in water activities, your Apple watch is designed to keep you safe. Water Lock will turn on automatically if you start a swimming workout, ensuring that your device remains protected from water damage. Alternatively, press the side button to open Control Center and tap the Water Lock button to activate it manually. When you're done, press and hold the digital Crown to turn off Water Lock and eject water from your speakers.
Multitasking on your Apple watch is made easy with the Timers app. Simply open the app, choose or set a timer, and tap the Add button in the upper right corner to start another one. You can pick from pre-set options or create a custom timer, then tap the Back button to view all your running timers in one place.
If you want to take a screenshot on your Apple watch, press the digital Crown and side button at the same time. The image will be saved to your photo library. If you hear a song and want to know what it is, simply say "Siri, what song is this?" This feature allows you to quickly identify songs playing on your device.
Lastly, Apple Watch offers a convenient dictation feature in messages conversations. To use this feature, tap the text field, then tap the Dictation button in the bottom right corner. Speak your reply, and Siri will add it to the conversation with an exclamation point.
