**The Future of iPhones: Folding Cameras and Optical Zoom**
Do we even do about this? Do we just cut it out of the show, and just no? I don't have any answers. We're just going to leave it in okay, last up what a weird show, last story of the day. Let's talk about iphones and specifically cameras in iphones. I was gonna do something really cool, but like they're not gonna do the thing that I want them to do. Let me explain.
In recent news, Korea it news has put out a report saying that apple is actually looking for suppliers for folded cameras. Now this wouldn't be a first, companies like Samsung already do this. A folded camera effectively acts as a periscope, it refracts light through the lenses that are placed horizontally instead of vertically. Obviously, phones are getting thinner and thinner, so the benefit here is that this will give them more space because you're going down the other side of the phone. This would give them much better optical zoom capabilities, not digital, where they're like "is we're zooming in but they're not really, you're just cropping the already existing pixels." This is optically zooming in to a subject.
This is how Samsung achieves their 1,000 times zoom, whatever it's called. So, if apple wants to do this and do it right, it's looking like they're gonna have to reach out to Sammy once again, we're like "hey can we use your shirt now?" That's cool, that's all great. Optically zooming in further to see into the moon's butthole is amazing, but and this is just what I want okay, they're not gonna do it, I'm gonna make that clear. They're not gonna do this, it's just what I want personally, and I don't think it's asking too much, I want them to use this in the extra space to just get rid of the camera bump. Like if they use this technically, they don't need the camera bump, they can just get rid of it.
I know they're not going to do it, I know they're gonna keep the gamer bump there and just stuff a bunch in there to do optical zoom stuff and fantastic fine cool, but I know that they know they could get rid of the camera bump and they're not gonna do it. Also, I don't think they're gonna do this for the iPhone 13 or the next one whatever it's gonna be called, so obviously, this sort of drums up speculation that the next iPhone that we see in 2021 um we'll use this technology but uh no, if they're just shopping around now for this stuff, it's don't expect it next year, major game plan stuff for iPhone 13 is already set in stone.
Obviously, we have to go through a few prototypes, but something like this is too big especially if they're just now shopping now, to include this, this won't happen until at least 2022. Just want to throw that out there to sort of manage your expectations even if you hear about it coming to iPhone 13.
