Hood Exit Ready To Go

**Modifying the Downpipes**

The author of the transmission just got that piece all welded down. They like fusion welding a lot and used it to weld this piece, as they don't add any rod. The author mentions that they went really fast and got it done because they'll probably make a new downpipe later on anyway.

This one also has two unnecessary O2 bungs. The author notes that the one in question needs to be down a little bit because after cutting it, right there, it's going to be close to the exit. However, for now, it will work. The author mentions that Hayden took a marker and drew a line around it, which is pretty simple.

The author then cuts off this part and grounds it down so it looks smooth and nice. They show how it fits by shutting the hood. The author notes that it still pokes up just a little bit, but they'll have a plate to cover over it anyway, making it look nice.

However, there's a big gap right here for the wastegate dump, which is why they're going to run it right behind there. They already have it fabbed up, and all they need to do is tack it together before welding it up. The author explains that they spent an hour and a half figuring out how to cut these pieces, but finally got it figured out.

Once welded together, the wastegate dump will clamp onto the waistgate right there, and then it'll be shown up there where it's going to sit. The author notes that they don't have any material to make a new plate to cover it yet, so they'll just need to get some aluminum plate from Ace and cut it out, then rivet a new one on.

**Working with the Wastegate Dump**

The wastegate dump is now all welded up. The author notes that it's still hot, so they've only put a clamp halfway on there, but it's holding in place where it needs to be. They show how it fits by moving it around and demonstrating its placement.

To make the wastegate dump fit better, the author trims it down so it doesn't stick out as much. Once cut flat, they'll make a plate for it to cover up the gap that's left behind where the dump was before. This will give the finished product a nicer look and finish.

**Later Progress on the Project**

The author mentions that this is the first wastegate dump this car has had since they've owned it, but it was always just run without one before. The author notes that running the dump made things get really hot, so they're glad to have one now.

However, for tonight, the author doesn't feel like cutting it further and wants it to cool off on its own. They plan to deal with it tomorrow when it's not as hot and will cut and flatten the area flat, possibly even making a new cover for the dump.

the boots for it but other than that it's like completely sleeper I should I should make some people pretty upset oh yeah dude horsepowers a lot my little brother's got a000 he has 375 right now and that moves pretty good so he'll probably be able to keep up right with him if not beat him well I should be able to beat him cuz they weigh the same there's like a 50 lb difference between the N 2000 it's just going to be spinning though it's kind of weird but it is I got some I got some n1s for it so oh okay I got some n1's and then I'm going to straighten out all the camber and then put some minor flares on it that way I can get some really me tires on nice oh yeah should be pretty it also helps that it's really clean yeah SI I love that side going try a clean got car chees oh yeah all stock bottom end it's got Springs already and head studs and head gaskets and a cam and it's already made like makes like 900 horsepower right now they an auto so I I only plan on making like 700 or 900 on it maybe put some pistons and rods in it and make like 1,000 like later on though yeah like later on I don't I don't plan on going like Full Tilt right away I just want to try to make like take it to the dyno make like 700 or so and then just turn it up on the street whenever it need be cuz like this thing with a V8 and an auto in it instead of a t-56 I'm going with a six-speed that I'm getting to from the same guy but I'm going with a six speed so it'll be a little bit lighter with a cage and a rear end in it they weigh right around 2500 lb yeah that'll be with a 315 in the freaking nuts it with a four link in the back and tub it yeah it'll have big fat tire in the back it'll it'll be a mini tub a mini tub yeah with a 315 I mean it'll be it it'll be it'll be nuts 2500 lb and 700 because there's like a hideous hole under there that I cut out and it's actually quite a bit bigger underneath there I'll show you guys in a sec but the the hole I cut out originally like sucks really bad but I'm going to try to get it more centered in this hole and then also having the wastegate dump in the same hole as well kind of like fill up some of the space since I cut the hole way too big when I originally did this but for now we're just going to start by taking that plate off and then just see where we need to go from there so yeah you can actually see how far off my up pipe is my old one so it just needs to come over like an inch and then back an inch as well so I'll actually show you guys my shitty ass hole I drilled underneath this plate just spin in the rivet let me try this one real quick too oh also uh I should probably cover that hole I think I saw some bits go down it we can blow it well yeah I mean I'll take the downpipe off anyway so it'll be fun there it goes nice you can see how shitty my hole was that I drilled not I cut out before it not that bad yeah now actually I think with the new if we actually get the new one centered like close to this front edge and then we can just put the waist gate dump like right behind it or in front of it either way cuz now that this hole is like an oval it's not really a hole Yeah so having the dump in there will actually fill it up nicely yeah look at it I think it'll fit pretty good but we have to remake the other one first yes got it going to reuse use our old flange so we just cut this piece off with the chopsaw and we added that in between right here and right now it's just all tacked up so that just gave me a little extra 1/ in to slide this over and then also uh we Twisted it just slightly back because it also needed to come back some and now when you close the hood close it real quick you can see it fits pretty nice nice and snug up against here and it lines up pretty good right now honestly but now it does sit up a little too high so we're going to have to trim it back a little bit and then it should be good and then we might have to cut a little more out of the back right here for the wastegate dump as well once we get that far but oh we should be good looks pretty good we just got to weld it all up now and then just cut it can see where my Hood's all burnt from when it used to line up right there yeah we hit VTEC too hard it like melted the out of my paint right there so it we'll make a new plate we'll just cover all that up yeah no one will ever know all right so I just got that piece horsepower but yeah that's Hayden's project car for those who have not seen it he's going to try to get it done and going to try to race me in the MR2 because I smoked you last time before the MR2 blew up yep that's when I didn't know what was wrong with it we're going to have a battle the pop-ups both got pop-up headlights rear wheel drive and we're both just getting started on them yeah we'll see who gets done faster yeah we'll see all right so we're going to try to get my up pipe done tonight uh we're just going to use the 3-in that we have here for the main one and we did get this at PFI I already showed you this so we're going to try to use that for the wastegate dump as well and I'm probably just going to run it like somewhere behind the up pipe I mean we'll figure that out once we get the the big one main the main one off the turbo so we're just going to start by taking my old one off and then also we're going to uh drill out the rivets on this plate I made a long time ago because there's like a hideous hole under there that I cut out and it's actually quite a bit bigger underneath there I'll show you guys in a sec but the the hole I cut out originally like sucks really bad but I'm going to try to get it more centered in this hole and then also having the wastegate dump in the same hole as well kind of like fill up some of the space since I cut the hole way too big when I originally did this but for now we're just going to start by taking that plate off and then just see where we need to go from there so yeah you can actually see how far off my up pipe is my old one so it just needs to come over like an inch and then back an inch as well so I'll actually show you guys my shitty ass hole I drilled underneath this plate just spin in the rivet let me try this one real quick too oh also uh I should probably cover that hole I think I saw some bits go down it we can blow it well yeah I mean I'll take the downpipe off anyway so it'll be fun there it goes nice you can see how shitty my hole was that I drilled not I cut out before it not that bad yeah now actually I think with the new if we actually get the new one centered like close to this front edge and then we can just put the waist gate dump like right behind it or in front of it either way cuz now that this hole is like an oval it's not really a hole Yeah so having the dump in there will actually fill it up nicely yeah look at it I think it'll fit pretty good but we have to remake the other one first yes got it going to reuse use our old flange so we just cut this piece off with the chopsaw and we added that in between right here and right now it's just all tacked up so that just gave me a little extra 1/ in to slide this over and then also uh we Twisted it just slightly back because it also needed to come back some and now when you close the hood close it real quick you can see it fits pretty nice nice and snug up against here and it lines up pretty good right now honestly but now it does sit up a little too high so we're going to have to trim it back a little bit and then it should be good and then we might have to cut a little more out of the back right here for the wastegate dump as well once we get that far but oh we should be good looks pretty good we just got to weld it all up now and then just cut it can see where my Hood's all burnt from when it used to line up right there yeah we hit VTEC too hard it like melted the out of my paint right there so it we'll make a new plate we'll just cover all that up yeah no one will ever know all right so I just got that piece all welded down I just like Fusion welded a lot of that and that's where you don't add any Rod I just kind of went really fast and just got it done because we'll probably make a new downpipe later on anyway just to get one that looks a little nicer this one also has like two unnecessary O2 bungs like this one needs to be down a little bit because after we cut it right here it's going to be like really close to the exit but it'll work for right now and then we'll show just how we made that line real quick because it does stick out so Hayden just took a marker and then just went around just like that and it's pretty simple so I'm just going to take it off and then saww it and it should be flushed with the hood so we're going to go do that right now and then we can start on the wastegate dump okay so we just got this cut off and I went ahead and like ground it down so it looks pretty nice and smooth and let me show them real quick let me Shut the hood see what kind of fit up we got on here that's how it sits so it still pokes up just a little bit which is fine we're going to have a plate to like cover over it anyway so it'll look all nice but that left a big gap right here for the wastegate dump so we're going to run it right behind here and we already have it fabbed up we just have it tacked together it's already made right here uh it did take us like forever to make yeah we spent like an hour and a half like trying to figure out how we should cut these pieces and we finally got it figured out so it's all tacked up I just got to weld it together and then this will just clamp onto my waist gate right right there then you can show it up here then that's where it's going to sit right behind that and then we're just going to we'll cut that with the hood as well and then it should look pretty good so I'm going to go ahead and weld this up and then we'll cut it put it on and be done for tonight cuz we don't have any material to make a plate to cover it yeah so so yeah I don't know where my old one was they saw it yeah make a new one of these cuz this thing is clapped look at that yeah it's trash it's trash too much rev go to Ace and get some more like aluminum plate and then just cut it out and then we'll rivet a new one on all right so the wastegate dump is all welded up it's still hot so I just kind of put that clamp halfway on there but it's holding it in place where it's going to be so that's what it's going to look like right there there still sticks up a little bit here grab that show that it clears the hole only cuz you said please boom look at that we just got to trim it so it doesn't look all like that and once we cut it flat we'll make a plate for it and it'll look really nice so it's the first wastegate dump this car has had on it since I've owned it I always just ran the dump just like I didn't I didn't have a dump at all and and it made stuff really hot so it's kind of good I got this but we're just going to call it for tonight cuz it's pretty late and we're just going to let that cool off and I don't really feel like cutting it tonight so we'll just get to that tomorrow so what are you doing right now I'm trying to make a a
