Apple Should Totally Do The Unthinkable With The iPhone 11 (USB-C) - My Take

The Future of iPhones: Apple Considering USB-C Port

Hey there, it's Chris here and I'm excited to talk about something that's been on my mind lately. As some of you know, I was thinking of putting a USBC port on the next iPhone. Yeah, I know it sounds crazy, but hear me out. Recently, I came across an article that said Apple might be planning a massive change for the iPhone 11. According to this report, Apple will replace the Lightning port on the iPhones with USB-C as soon as this year.

I have to admit, I don't necessarily appreciate the title of this article. It's a bit clickbait-y, if you ask me. But I do understand the angle. A few years ago, nobody would have thought that Apple would be considering putting USBC in their iPhones. But here we are in 2019, and Apple has already replaced the Lightning port on the iPad Pros with USB-C. And let's not forget that USB-C is plastered all over the MacBook lineup. So, it's not entirely out of the question to imagine Apple going ahead and putting USBC in an iPhone.

Now, I know some of you might be thinking, "But Chris, what about Lightning?" Well, let me take a moment to explain the differences between USB-C and Lightning. Generally speaking, there are a few nuances to consider. For one, USB-C 3 can transfer data much faster than Lightning. It can also deliver more power, which is pretty important if you're planning on using your iPhone for things like video editing or photography.

Just to put it into perspective, let's take a trip down memory lane. Lightning first came onto the scene back in 2012 when Apple replaced the old big huge 30-pin adapter. Do any of you remember those? They were definitely smaller and more convenient than their predecessors. And one of the best things about Lightning was that it was reversible - meaning you could plug it in either way. That made a big difference, especially for people with disabilities.

But what does Apple say about USB-C? Well, according to their website, USB-C gives you a high-performance connection to accessories like external displays or cameras. And it's not just about the hardware, either. Apple has been working on its software to make sure that USB-C is integrated seamlessly into your iPhone experience.

Now, I know some of you might be thinking, "But Chris, won't I need new accessories if I switch to USB-C?" That's a fair question. One thing to consider is that many of the same USBC accessories that work on the iPad Pro will also work on an iPhone. However, there may be some limitations or compatibility issues along the way. For example, you might not be able to use your old Lightning headphones with your new USB-C port.

On the other hand, having a USBC port could open up a whole new world of possibilities for iPhone users. Just think about it - being able to connect a camera directly to your phone and start editing photos or videos on the go. Or hooking up an external monitor to show off your work on a bigger screen. With USB-C, those things become entirely possible.

And that's where I get excited. As someone who loves Apple's vision for a wireless future (thanks in part to AirPods), I think this could be a game-changer. Sure, there are some trade-offs to consider - like the need to buy new accessories or deal with potential compatibility issues. But overall, I believe that USB-C has the potential to take iPhones to the next level.

So, what do you guys think? Are you excited about the possibility of USB-C coming to iPhones? Do you have any thoughts on this topic? Let me know in the comments below! And don't forget to subscribe for more tech news and reviews.

so click Beatty I do understand the angle because a few years back nobody would have thought that Apple would be putting or considering putting USB C in any of its iOS devices but here we are in 2019 and Apple has already replaced the Lightning port on the iPad pros with USB C and USB C is plaster all over the MacBook lineup so it's not all that hard to imagine Apple going ahead and putting the USB C in an iPhone the only question really is when this year next year and which models also just the top of the line models or everything let me pause really quick and just kind of explain the differences between USB C and lightning just so we're all on the same page generally speaking there's all these little nuances USB C 3 can transfer data much faster than lightning also it can deliver more power basically just a quick trip down memory lane back in 2012 is when lightning first came on the scene and it replaced the old big huge 30-pin adapter do you remember those so lightning was a much smaller port and there was no wrong way to plug it in it was reversible so much better on its website apple says that USB C gives you a high performance connection to accessories like an external display or camera now Apple's website wasn't talking about an iPhone just then but it is fun to imagine what USB see accessories might end up working with an iPhone that has a USB C port well fun on the one hand and maybe not so fun on the other depending on who you are and how many Lightning accessories you have given that the iPhone offers performance that's on par with the iPad Froese one could always argue that the same USBC accessories that work on the iPad pro would also work without a hitch on any new iPhone now I don't know about any accessory or working without a hitch but wait a second whoa being able to connect a camera right to your iPhone import those pictures like a DSLR do some editing while you're away from the desk maybe some video editing video editing photo editing totally doable on your iPhone alright we have the apps but we don't quite have this workflow people for years have talked about the iPad just being a bigger version of an iPhone well in this case the iPhone may turn into a smaller version of an iPad like think about the screen on the 10s max that that baby is pretty big like you can do some stuff on there with the processing power and let's not make it a whole thing about oh do you really want to be doing all this professional work on a small thing just could you and with certain people like that I think you could and certain people would now if the iPad pro can now hook up to an external monitor to show you a bigger version of what's on the screen and Samsung has already shown us decks which basically turns a smartphone into a desktop so is it possible that USBC on the iPhone could lead to something really crazy in the next half decade where your iPhone can turn into a full-fledged computer I don't know but with USB see the possibilities are pretty wide open a downside of course would be for people who already have a huge stash of lightning accessories like lightning headphones for them they're either gonna have to buy something new or work with another kind of a dongle so either way that's kind of a bummer I'm always looking for the upside though like personally I really believe in Apple's vision for a wireless future like air pods I love using those sure there are some trade-offs versus wired headphones but the convenience is real so is it really unthinkable that Apple could give us USB see on the iPhone the answer is no it's not unthinkable in fact it's probable and I feel like it's gonna happen pretty soon sooner than later but thank you BGR for the interesting title I'd really love to know what you
