## Introduction to the Cookie Taste Test
The main focus of the video is a taste test of Girl Scout cookies. The host mentions that this video was months in the making, as they collected and waited for various cookie flavors. They express excitement about finally having all the cookies in one place. Big thanks are given to Oscar for suggesting the video and conducting extensive research, including links to dupes (similar products). Addie, Nora, and Caroline, Girl Scouts themselves, are also thanked for selling cookies for a great cause.
The host reveals that they purchased what they thought were all Girl Scout cookie flavors in the past and did a taste test. However, it turns out that Girl Scout troops can choose between two bakeries: *ABC Bakery* and *Little Brownie Baker’s bakery*. The recipes from these bakeries are not the same, even though the cookies come in similar packaging. For example, what is called “Samoas” in one region might be known as “Caramel Delights” in another, but they are entirely different recipes.
The host shares that they created a spreadsheet to organize all the information and included links to websites for further details. They also mention an interactive map to find out which bakery supplies cookies to local troops. Interestingly, Little Brownie Bakers is a subsidiary of Keebler, which adds another layer of curiosity regarding the cookie recipes.
---
## Breakdown of Cookie Varieties
The host starts tasting the cookies in order of popularity, as listed on Wikipedia. The first flavor is *Daisy’s* (Thin Mints), their favorite. They compare the ABC Bakers and Little Brownie Bakers versions:
- **ABC Bakers**: Crisper texture, mintier flavor, with a chocolate cookie in the middle and a fudgie coating.
- **Little Brownie Bakers**: Thicker cookies with a crumbly crunch and less minty flavor.
Next, they taste Keebler’s Grasshopper cookies, which are priced similarly to Girl Scout cookies but have a hybrid appearance (six points like Little Brownie Bakers and fluted edges like ABC Bakers). The host finds the Keebler version crisper and mintier than the Little Brownie Bakers version.
The host also tastes dupes from store brands like *Eatz* and *Signature Select*, which are significantly cheaper but have similar appearances and flavors to Girl Scout cookies. For example, Eatz’s fudgemint cookie is almost identical in appearance to ABC Bakers but has a vanilla flavor instead of dark chocolate.
---
## Supermarket Duplicates
The host continues tasting various supermarket duplicates, such as:
- **Keebler Samoa**: Slightly different from Little Brownie Bakers but still similar enough to the original.
- **Signature Select Caramel Delight**: Cheaper and almost identical in appearance to ABC Bakers.
- **Benton’s Toffee Tastic**: Similar to Keebler’s version but with a firmer texture and stronger toffee flavor.
The host also tastes Trefoils, which come in perforated packaging from ABC Bakers and are darker in color. They compare the shortbread textures of both brands, finding the ABC version more crumbly and processed-tasting, while Little Brownie Bakers’ version is drier and crunchier.
---
## Conclusion
After tasting all 27 packages of cookies, the host concludes that Girl Scout cookies are a good product supporting a great cause—teaching girls entrepreneurship and supporting various activities. While commercial-baked cookies taste similar to Girl Scout varieties, it’s worth purchasing from Girl Scouts for their mission.
The video ends with another sponsorship message for Hello Fresh, encouraging viewers to visit *hellofresh.com* and use the code *emmymade10* for 10 free meals with free shipping. The host also mentions a follow-up video where they utilize the cookies in a fun recipe. Finally, they express gratitude for watching and encourage sharing the video on social media.

support. Now today I'm going tobe tasting a panoplyof girl scout cookies. Now, this video was acouple months in the making.I've been collecting andwaiting for my cookiesand finally they are all hereand I can't, can't wait.Big, huge thanks to lovely Oscarfor suggesting this videoand for doing so much work.He did so much research includingall kinds of links to all of these dupes. And a big shout out to my girl scoutsAddie, Nora and Caroline forbeing the great girl scoutsthat they are and going out thereand selling cookies for a great cause.Let me tell you, the reasonwhy I have so many boxesof girl scout cookies. So, a few years ago Ipurchased what I thoughtwere all the flavorsof girls scout cookiesand did a taste test.I will put the link tothat video down below, but apparently all the girl scout troops, actually the regions, can choose from two different bakeries. There's the ABC bakeryand there's the LittleBrownie Baker's bakery. And apparently therecipes are not the same.- What?- So, I always thoughtit was a name thing.Oh, we call them Samoas, wecall them Caramel Delights.Potato, poatata, tomato, tomata. No, they're different recipes even thoughthey come in little cartons, they're both purple, they're different recipes. So, here we are today. We're gonna taste all of theseand we're also gonna tastethe supermarket varieties as well.I even made a spreadsheetto organize all of this. So, I will also include all the linksto the websites I visited togather all this information. There's also an interactive mapto find out which bakery your local troopgets their cookies fromand apparently Little Brownie Bakersis a subsidiary of Keebler.- What?- So, that's gonna be interesting'cause I also have a coupleKeebler cookies as well. So, I'm very curious to seehow close those are tothe original cookies. It's time to eat cookies,it's time to eat cookies.Oh, I forgot that I'm wearing this shirt.I meant to do this.Aw.This shirt creates a moire effectbecause it's got reallyclose lines set togetherand I knew that because I wasgonna be wearing my lab coatbecause this was supposedto be science, right? We're doing science here'cause I did a little break downof cost analysis here.Okay, just give me amoment while I get dressed. What I have here are27 boxes, or packages,of cookies and I'm goingto be eating them in orderaccording to Wikipediain terms of popularityor highest number of saleswhich would be ding, ding,Thin Mint, which is my favorite flavor. The Little Brownie BakersI can find in Massachusettsand the ABC brand I canfind here in Rhode Island. In terms of size, both ofthese are nine ounce packages. They both come in a paper cartonand at five dollars a box, these work out to be 56 cents an ounce.Same price. In terms of carton size, the Little Brownie Bakersare a little bit smallerthan the ABC brand. There is the Little Brownie Bakers.Looks like their sleeve is clearand ABC brand is foiled. The ABC brand is a littlebit fluted around the edges.Little bit rougher in textureand they have more dots on them. So, the Little Brownie Bakers looks likethe dots are in a star pattern. There are a total of six of themand it is a round cookie. The front coating looks tobe a little bit thicker too.We don't see much of thetexture of the cookie. All right, I can't standit, these are my favorite. All right, I'm gonnatry Rhode Island first.Rhode Island represent. This is the ABC Bakers, here we go.Itadakimasu.Such a great cookie. If you are a peppermintfan, you will love these.Little crisp chocolatecookie in the middle.Thin little fudgie coating on the outside. Not too much about the chocolate. It's all about the mint in that cookie.Oh, love that.Love that as a peppermint fan.All righty, so let's comparethat with the Little Brownie Bakers. It looks so funny, it's totally different,it's very different. The thickness of the cookie is different. These cookies are thickerand they have more of acrumbly crunch to themwhile the ABC brands are thinner. The ABC cookies are much mintier. They have this great, minty flavorwhile the Little BrownieBakers are not as minty.Wow!This one's easy for me, hands down.ABC Bakers right here.(bell blaring)Oh yeah.Next let's taste thisand this is Keebler's Grasshopperand this comes at a pricepoint of 57 cents per ounce.Almost the exact same priceas the girl scout cookies. So, these dupes at the local grocery storewere on sale right at thesame time girl scout cooks gofor sale which, aroundhere, is February and March. So the sales price of these came outto be 27 cents per ounce. So, about half the pricewhen they're on sale.Undercutting girl scouts?Come on, guys, really?Little Brownie Bakers areactually a subsidiary of Keebler. So, I'm imagining they'regonna be more similarto those ones.Interesting! So, here is the Keeblerand it actually looks to be a hybridbetween the ABC and theLittle Brownie Bakers. It has the six points justlike the Little Brownie Bakers, but it has a bit of afluted edge like the ABC.(optimistic music)(humming)It's different than theLittle Brownie Bakers. The cookie is crisper, muchmore similar to the ABC.Mhm.And definitely mintier thanthe Little Brownie Bakers.Much more similar to the ABCs,but I think the ABCs still are mintier.Mm, mhm.The Keebler one is still pretty good.I actually like it betterthan the Little Brownie Bakers version. It's mintier and it has athinner, crisper texturewhich I enjoy. So, it's actually different thana Little Brownie Bakers recipe.I thought they'd be atleast similar, if not, identical but they're not.Interesting.Eatz: and I got this onefrom the Family Dollarand this worked out tobe 19 cents per ounce. This one too comes in a foil sleevewhich is similar to the ABC Baker. So, I noticed immediatelythat the fudge coating is much thinner. You can see the cookie more. And the edges are flutedor similar to the ABC.(humming)This cookie is very different.Look at that. The cookie is not chocolate,so it has this kind of vanilla flavor. The texture is similar to the ABC,but the flavor is not. It's much more vanilla,it doesn't have that deepdark chocolate flavor to it.The minty flavor is not bad. It's still kind of light though.Nothing has been as strong as the ABC one.Heh, this one's fine. So, this is oven-baked fudgemint, fudge mint cookiesand these come from the Dollar Treeand these were the least expensive. This checks at 11 cents per ounce.Oh, these look almost identicalto the ones that we gotfrom the Family Dollarfrom the Eatz company.Look at that, same kind offluted edge, same number of dots.Oh and the cookie's blonde as well.I think that might bethe same exact cookie. All right, let's give that a taste.Mhm.Yeah.Identical, mhm.Coming in at 19% sales, the next cookie would be theSamoa or The Caramel Delight. So, once again, the cookiescome in a cardboard cartonand the ABC box is slightly larger.Although in terms of net weight, the Little BrownieBakers actually give youa little bit more, it's7.5 ounces of cookies. So, ABC comes in at 71 cents per ouncewhile the Little Brownie Bakerscomes at 67 cents an ounce.Slightly less expensive. So, this is a little bit different. They come in little plastic trays.Little Brownie Bakers.ABC.Right off the bat we cansee a difference in color.Drizzle patterns are alittle bit different.Little Brownie Bakers, it has a little bitof a curve to it while ABC is straight. Both have a fudge coating on the bottom.Let's break them and seewhat it looks like inside. There's the cookie, littlebit of stretchy caramelfor the Little BrownieBakers and let's see.Little bit of stretchy on that one too.Okay, let's try ABC first, here we go.Mhm, very sweet cookie.Little chocolate on the bottom. It's a very, very strongflavor of toasted coconut. And a vanilla shortbread cookie inside.Yeah, not bad.Almost like a Almond Joy kindof candy bar style cookie. Now let's try the Little Brownie Bakers.Mm.This one seems a little bit sweeter to meand has some crunchier texture.Mhm.I feel like the Little Brownie Bakershave a thicker coating ofcoconut on the outside. There's less cookie. In terms of flavor profiles, very, very similar.I think also the LittleBrownie Bakers seemsa little bit sweeter as welland just less emphasis on the cookie.I don't have a clear distinctive winnerbetween these two as Idid with the thin mints. So, the first dupe that Ihave is the Keebler brandand this came in at 46 cents an ounce. And on sale it's 22 cents an ounce. So, this one does look morelike the Little Brownie Bakerswhich shouldn't be a surprisebecause, again, this isa subsidiary of Keebler. So, let's break that. And in terms of interior itlooks pretty similar too.Although the cookie ratiolooks a little bit higher.Maybe a little bit more like the ABC.Aw, this is so interesting, here we go.ABC brand has a veryconcentrated flavor of coconut.Maybe even the biscuit itselfis flavored with coconutwhile the Keebler brand, coconut is there, but it's not as powerfully strong. You don't get that kind ofsun tan lotion flavor as much, but it does have morecookie in it relativeto the Little Brownie Bakers.I think I like the Keeblerone better than the originals.(laughs)Mhm.So, here's another one andthis is by Signature Selectand this is the store brand of Shaw'swhich is a local grocerychain here in Rhode Island. And these are called caramelcoconut fudge cookiesand this came in at 35 centsan ounce, little bit cheaper, and on sale it was 29 cents an ounce. Here's this one. This one actually lookspretty similar to Keebler.Although Keebler had moreof an arc to the stripingand these ones are straight.Break this.It does seem to have alittle bit more of caramel, just a little bit more andless of a coconut-y flavor.A little bit more similar to the Keebler. So next I have this oneat 25 cents an ounce. That looks almost identicalto the Signature Select.Look at that.(lively music)I think those taste identicalto the Signature Select. And finally I have theseand these are Benton'sand these come from Aldi.16 cents an ounce.Same number of stripes and everything. The chocolate looks tobe a little bit darker, but very, very similar to all the others.Mhm.At this point I've had so many versionsthat are so close that my abilityto distinguish betweenall these is just gone. This tastes just like the one I had prior. The texture of the cookie, theflavors are all very similar.I think also because the coconut flavoringis so strong, it kind of just dominatesand takes over everything. There's less to kind ofanalyze and break downbecause all I reallytaste is toasted coconut.Coming in at 16% sales we havethe peanut butter sandwichor the Dosey Does.Little Brownie Baker, again,is slightly smaller than the ABC.In terms of net weight, they're exactly the same, eight ounces. So that works out to be 63 cents an ounce. So, they both start with little rhombusesand they have a little hole in the middlethat shows you the peanut butter. The ABC brand looks tobe a little bit darker, more toasted in color thanthe Little Brownie Bakers.Okay, let's try the ABC.Mm.Very, very crispy peanutbutter cookie sandwich.Strong peanut butter flavor, smooth peanut butter. It is a little bit dry,but that's what I often findabout peanut butter cookies.Let's compare that withthe Little Brownie Bakers.Mm, that's equally crispy, but in kind of a slightly different way.A little bit more short, there's a little bitmore crumbliness to it.Little less cracker-like,but both of them havea nice crunch to themwhich is surprising for a cookie to me.I like the balance offlavors in this one better.I think there's a little bitmore salt in the filling maybe.I might give that one toLittle Brownie Bakers. At 13% sales we have Tagalongsor Peanut Butter Patties. So, another peanut butter cookie, but this time we've got some chocolate. The same weight at 6.5ounces, 77 cents per ounce. The Tagalongs look to be alittle bit lighter in colorand they've got thisdistinct little bump herewhile the Peanut Butter Pattiesare a little bit smoother.Let's snap them. So, there's the Peanut Butter Patty. It looks like there's alittle bit of peanut butteron top of a vanilla cookie.See the Tagalongs.Oh yeah, so the Tagalongs have moreof a peanut butter button ontop and when I pushed on it,it was a little bit soft on top.Okay, let's taste the ABC first.Mm, nice peanut buttery flavor, but very reminiscent of, say,a Reese's Peanut Butter Cupbecause you got some ofthat chocolate in thereand then you've got a nice little crunchof a cookie below.Nice little balance of peanutbutter chocolate and cookie. Now let's compare that withthe Little Brownie Baker.Mm, this has more peanut butter in it.So, you've got a creamy, distinctive top on the top.But less emphasis on chocolate. In terms of balance I think Ilike the ABC version better. It's more leans towardschocolate just a little bitwhile the Tagalongs lean moretowards the peanut butter. So, depending on your preferences,if you're a peanut butter person,I think you'd like the Tagalongs better. So, Signature Select comesin at 42 cents per ounceon sale at 35 cents per once.Wow and the cookie looksvery similar to the ABC.Flat top.Oh, the cookie looks different though. The cookie is chocolate.Mhm.The cookie is lighter. It has more of a shattery, crunchy texturerather than being firm. It's more flaky. In terms of flavor though, very much more similar to the ABCin terms of it's kind oflearning more towards chocolate.Next we have the Eatz comingin at 25 cents per ounceand this comes from Family Dollar. This does look similar to the ABCand the Signature Select, but it got a little bitof a hump right there. So, little bit of a hybrid. But the cookie looksto be exactly the sameas the Signature Select, look at that.Mhm, I would say that'svery, very similar,if not identical to the Signature Select.Same texture of cookie, same kind of leaning towards chocolate.Lastly I have this one and thisis the Benton's Peanut ButterFilled Cookies and these comefrom Aldi and these werethe least expensive at 15 cents per ounce.Oh, again.Very similar, same color ofchocolate and everything.Coating, all very differentthan the Little Brownie Baker. They all look more like the ABC brandin terms of shape, color.Let's see what color the cookie is.Oh, the cookie is different though.Although this is a chocolate cookie, which is different than the original, the crunch of it seems much more likethe ABC brand, let's taste it.Mm!The cookie is much more similarto the ABC brand and the Tagalongs. It's got more of a cookie-like texture. It's not flaky like the last two.It has more of a firmer biteand a crumbly crumb and thetexture of the peanut butteris a little bit different though. This is a little bit weepierand kind of more oozythan just being creamy.Mhm.And the chocolate both tastes and feelsa little bit more waxy.I would say all the dupes are very close, but they're not quite identical, but if you're needing a fix,I think any of them will work.At nine percent sales arethe Lemonades or Lemon Ups.So, the ABC brand comesin at 59 cents an ounce. The Little Brownie Bakersones come at 81 cents an ouncewhich is the mostexpensive cookie they makeand that's also becausethere's only 6.2 ouncesin this bag.Oh, so here's the Little Brownie Bakers.I am creative, I am gutsy.I am strong, oh, I can smell the lemon.I am bold.I like that, little affirmationsand they have a littlebit of icing on the back. So, these look like slices of lemons.Different color. These two are iced on the back, but a very different kind of icing. This is more like a glazewhile this is a little bit thicker.I forgot to include alittle bit of history. So the ABC Bakery hasbeen with the girl scoutssince 1937 while the Little Brownie Bakershave been baking for the girl scoutsfor just the past 35 years.Again, let's start with the ABCand see what those taste like, here we go.Shortbread cookie, very similar to say,a Lorna Doone cookie, very sweet, and then you've got a niceflavor of lemon in there.Lemon extract with a kindof waxy, sweet glaze on the bottom.I'm not a huge lemon cookie fan,but if you are, you might like this. They're not sour at all,it's definitely sweet. Now let's try the LittleBrownie Baker version.Very different cookie. All right, here we go.(laughs)Yeah and this has adifferent texture to it.Crumbly again but not as short. It doesn't seem to have as much fat maybe. It's kind of a crisper, strong lemony flavor. But this one tastes muchmore like a lemon extract,a very strong lemon flavor. It reminds me of breakfastcereal somehow and lemon jello. Why am I thinking breakfastcereal, what breakfast cereal?Oh, it tastes kind of like Fruity Pebblesor Froot Loops, that's what it's like.Yeah!I didn't realize how much lemon flavoris in a cereal like Froot Loops, but that's what this reminds me of.And this was a Signature Selects dupeand this is the lemon shortbread cookies. So, these came at 35 centsand on sale 29 cents.Oh, wow. These look very, very, verysimilar to the ABC brand. The style of cookie, the glaze on the bottom.Mm.I'd say almost identical in both texture, mouth feel and everything.I'd say maybe the ABC isjust slightly more acidic. In terms of lemon flavor, they both taste very lemon-y.But I think the ABC had justa tiny bit more acidity to it.Next I have the Trefoils at seven percentand these are shortbread cookiesand in weight they'rethe same at nine ounces.56 cents per ounce. So, the ABC Bakers havelittle holes in them, little perforations while theLittle Brownie Baker do not.And these are a littlebit darker in color,a little bit more toasted. So, let's give the ABCbrand a taste first.Wow, very crumbly.Mhm, and they have thatcommercial-processedcookie flavor to them. It's like an artificial buttery flavor.Although they were very short and crumblyand very reminiscent of shortbread. It's not like real buttery flavor.Little Brownie Bakers.Mm, very different. These taste more vanillaand the texture's completely different. These are more sandyand kind of cracker-y.And dry and crumbly. To me the ABC brand has moreof the classic shortbread textureand kind of processed buttery flavorthan the Little Brownie Bakers. Both bakeries make a girls scout s'mores. They are completely different in style. So, here's the ABC cookie.Little Brownie Bakers. So, the Little BrownieBakers are much more kindof traditional in thesense of what you thinkof when you think of a s'smores.Graham cracker, marshmallow, chocolate. There's a little coating of white. So, maybe that's the marshmallow. This tastes like a very sweetchocolate-dipped cookie. The cookie doesn't reallyremind me of graham necessarily. It's just very, very sweetand the chocolate isn't that chocolate-y.All righty, let's try the other version. This one I can reallytaste the chocolate layerand this marshmallow layer which hasa very kind of cleanlyvanilla kind of flavor to it.But I like the fact thatthere's a seperage betweenthe cookie and the layers.I can actually distinguishthe different flavors.Yeah, I think this one I'm gonnagive to Little Brownie Bakers. And lastly I have these two. They both come in thiskind of teal packaging, but they are not supposedto be similar at all.The Little Brownie Bakers makeone called a Toffee Tastic. The ABC makes somethingcalled a Thanks a Lot.So, these come at 75 cents an ounce. That's kind of like a shortbread. You snap it.Whoa! That's a hard cookie.Based on what it looked like,I was expecting it tobe like a pecan sandyand just shortbread-y and crumbly, but it was actually very firmand then you get littlechewy bits off toffee.I like that. The flavor of like a Heath bar,a kind of buttery, rumflavor of candy in there. And then you've gotshortbread all around itwhich is buttery in itself, but so buttery and crumbly thatwhen you bite it, it justkind of shatters everywhere. And next we have the Thanks a Lotsand these come from the ABC's bakery. So, these remind me of the Lemonades. They've got chocolate onthe bottom or a glaze. And this ones says(speaking foreign language).Oh, I bet it says thankyou in different languages.Gracias, oh, I love that.Merci, Xiexie, that's great. And thank you, all right, let's give that a taste. It's a very sweet cookieand, as you heard, verycrispy vanilla cookieand then you've got a layerof chocolate on the bottom.I think it, again, wouldbe a good dipping cookie. It's not as short as, say, some of the other shortbreadsI've had with the Trefoils. It doesn't have that reallystrong, buttery flavor, but I like the crispy texture of it.And then you've got thischocolate on the bottom. The chocolate's not that great of quality. You've got a chocolate flavor to itand it's got kind of a waxy texture, but what I really loveare the little thank youson each cookie, so good to be grateful.(sighs)And I am so grateful to be donewith this cookie taste test.Oh man is my gut busted.(sighs)27 packages of cookies, I tasted them alland all in all, the girl scout cookies, they're a good thing. They support a good cause, they're teaching girlshow to be entrepreneurial andit's supporting a good cause. The cookies themselves, they taste like commercial-baked cookiesbecause that's what they are,but they are supporting girlsand their activities andI think it's a good thing. If you need a fix outsideof girl scouts seasonand you haven't scrolled abunch of way in your freezer, then some of these dupeswill do it for you.But just get 'em from the girl scouts. They're doing good thingsand, yeah, support them. That's what I say.And speaking of support, big thanks to Hello Freshfor sponsoring this video.Head over
