**OnePlus Note 3 vs Samsung Galaxy A54: Which Phone Reigns Supreme?**
In this comparison, we pit two popular mid-range smartphones against each other - the OnePlus Note 3 and the Samsung Galaxy A54. Both phones have garnered attention for their impressive specs, camera capabilities, and battery life. But which one comes out on top?
**Software Updates: A Key Differentiator**
One of the most significant differences between these two phones is in their software update policy. The Note 3 is guaranteed to receive three major OS updates and four years of security updates, while the Galaxy A54 will receive four years of OS updates and five years of security updates. This means that users can expect a more stable and secure user experience with the Samsung phone, especially as it ages.
**Cameras: A Critical Comparison**
When it comes to cameras, both phones have their strengths and weaknesses. The OnePlus Note 3 features a flagship-grade 50-megapixel IMX 890 sensor, which delivers excellent results during the day, with images that compete well with each other in terms of details, colors, and HDR. However, its images tend to favor a warmer tone, while Samsung's camera tends to produce cooler tones. In terms of ultra-wide-angle shots, both phones struggle, but Samsung's images have more distortion around the edges. On the other hand, the Note 3's ultra-wide-angle photos have narrower fields of view with only okay-level details.
**Selfies and Portrait Mode: A Close Call**
When it comes to shooting human subjects, the Galaxy A54 has a slight edge due to its ability to maintain skin tone without applying artificial smoothing. However, the OnePlus Note 3 excels in terms of flow live photography, producing photos that are less noisy, with better highlight and exposure control. The warmer color science of the Note 3 also adds to the nighttime aesthetics. While both phones have their pros and cons in the photography department, it's a close call.
**Video Recording: A Clear Winner**
The Galaxy A54 takes the lead when it comes to video recording, offering 4K 30fps footage with better stabilization and colors. Additionally, it can shoot 4K 30fps ultra-wide-angle videos and switch between the wide-angle and ultra-wide-angle lens during recording, which is a feature not available on the Note 3. However, the Note 3's selfie video capabilities are impressive, capturing stunning footage at 1080p 30fps.
**Battery Life: A Tie**
In terms of battery life, both phones deliver similar screen-on times, around 5-5.5 hours. While the Note 3's charging speed is faster, thanks to its 80-watt power adapter, it's not a deciding factor in this comparison.
**The Verdict: OnePlus Note 3 Reigns Supreme**
After analyzing all aspects of these two phones, it's clear that the OnePlus Note 3 is the better phone overall. With its impressive performance, excellent display, and acceptable cameras, it offers great value for the price. While the Galaxy A54 has its strengths, particularly in terms of software updates and video recording capabilities, it's not enough to justify the premium price tag.
Ultimately, the decision comes down to personal preference. If you're looking for a balanced phone with excellent performance and display, the Note 3 is the way to go. However, if you don't play games or require a lot of storage space, the Galaxy A54 might be a better option, albeit at a slightly higher price point due to the Samsung brand name.
"WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: enhello everyone it's me pratima I hope you guys are doing well so when it comes to premium mid-range phones Samsung and OnePlus are two of the most trusted Brands yeah there are other companies making phones in this price range but the brand value of Samsung and OnePlus phones is just unmatched and right now both of them have solid offerings in this segment the Galaxy a54 and the OnePlus note 3. so if you were confused on which one you should get then you've come to the right place because in today's video I'll be doing a head-on comparison between these two and giving you a definitive answer about what's best for you and watch out for that scoreboard somewhere around here so that you can have a clear idea of which phone is ahead in which aspect so without any further Ado let's kick things off with the design side of things and here the Galaxy a54 makes a pretty strong argument for itself although both phones have a similar build quality with a glass back and plastic frames I like the Galaxy if Force design more it looks similar to the more premium Galaxy S Series but more importantly it is quite Compact and handy and feels easy on the hands it also has stronger IP67 dust and water resistance versus ip54 rating on the Note 3 so that's another win for Samsung then again the Note 3's design is not bad either and I definitely see people digging its soft matte bag which feels incredible to touch whereas it's even got an alert slider and an IR blaster okay as for the display both these phones give tough competition to each other they bring smooth and well optimized 120hz refresh rates and an equally responsive touch on paper though the Note 3 looks much more competent thanks to its sharper resolution higher brightness levels high frequency pwm dimming support and more and just look at how thin its bezels are it's insane but Samsung being Samsung Galaxy a54's display is still excellent to look at both of them have white wine L1 and HDR 10 plus certification to stream High dynamic range videos on Netflix but for some reason OnePlus Note 3's Asia playback looks a bit flat with slightly overblown highlights by default I found this to be the case with my local HDR videos as well although turning on the bright Asia video mode mostly does the trick and another thing I've noticed after hours of media consumption is that the Galaxy a54 also has better color accuracy of the two as you can see things look more pinkish on the Note 3 which is particularly noticeable in human subjects so with all the back and forth I think it's only fair that these two share a point in the display Department as for the audio you get a pair of stereo speakers without the atmos support on both these phones the OnePlus Note 3 does have a bit wider Sound Stage with more room for instruments but when it comes to vocal Clarity the Galaxy a54 does a better job for me there for It ultimately just comes down to your personal taste in music okay moving on I was expecting an easy win for OnePlus Note 3 in terms of haptics but using them side by side I honestly am a little surprised to see how close things are in case you didn't know the Galaxy a54 is Samsung's very first Galaxy a series phone to use a superior x-axis linear motor which is why it has pretty great haptics the Note 3 on the other hand borrows oppos or haptics technology which I found to be doing slightly better than the Galaxy a54 Note 3 just has a higher Fidelity vibration that feels sharper and crisper getting to Performance it's pretty much a clean sweep for the OnePlus note 3. it's sad to see that the Galaxy a54's exynos 1380 remains one of the most under optimized chips of 2023 while the Nazi enjoys mediatek's Flagship chip of last year the diamond City 9000. so be it in synthetic benchmarks or real life gaming tests the diamond 89 000 absolutely destroys the exynos 1380 in anything and everything one player still has not managed to optimize the Note 3 to its full potential when it comes to gaming since its thermals is not the best and neither could it play the most high FPS ready games at 120 FPS but I'd pick this guy over the Galaxy a54 to play my favorite games any day of the week the software side of things on these phones is pretty great though both of them offer a clean ad free Android experience with zero Blu-ray apps and I love it but the galaxy a54 shows some signs of stutters every once in a while especially when you have a bunch of apps running at a time likewise I found that the Nord 3's memory management is quite aggressive as it shuts off background apps so fast that it actually performed a lot worse in my app opening and multitasking test so yeah this is one area where I'd like to see OnePlus improve with future updates now talking about updates the Note 3 is guaranteed to receive three major OS updates and four years security updates whereas Samsung is slightly ahead with four years of os and 5 years of security updates on the Galaxy a54 okay now let me talk about the cameras and this is where things get really interesting I went into this comparison thinking that the Galaxy a54 would just walk all over the Note 3 in this department but turns out I was wrong this time OnePlus has drastically upped their camera game with the OnePlus note 3. I think one of the main reasons why OnePlus is able to pull this off is because of its Flagship grade 50 megapixel IMX 890 sensor itself during the day 80 to 90 of the time both the Note 3 and the Galaxy a54 produce great images that compete very well with each other in terms of details colors and HDR the only difference I found was oneplus's images favor a warmer tone while Samsung chooses to go with a cooler processing and around 20 to 30 of the time the Galaxy a54 maintains contrast and dynamic range slightly better although at times the a54 struggles with exposure control which the Note 3 is able to handle better that said I'm not a big fan of the ultra wide angle shots from either of them both of their output have significant color shift from their primary cameras um Samsung's images are wider but they have a lot of distortion around the edges while OnePlus is ultra wide angle images have narrow field a few with only okay level of details so I wouldn't give points to either of these cameras in this department when shooting human subjects the galaxy a54 has a slight Edge at least when it comes to maintaining skin tone it does not apply artificial smoothing in selfies or crank up the contrast levels in portraits like the north 3 which looks more pleasant to my eyes Samsung phones have always been good at preserving the skin tone of human subjects so I can't say I am surprised with this result although I wished it processed the background a bit better the OnePlus Note 3 flips the script in terms of flow live photography though its photos aren't as noisy they have better highlight and exposure control and that warmer color science adds to the nighttime Aesthetics too I also like how you don't necessarily have to switch to the dedicated night mode for better results on the Note 3 most of the time as the regular photo mode takes care of things just fine so overall both these phones have their own pros and cons in the photography side of things so I guess they should share a point once again however the Galaxy a54 is a much better phone when it comes to videos while it does not have a 4K 60fps recording option from the main camera like the Note 3 it's 4K 30 FPS footages are actually much more usable with nicer stabilization and colors you can even shoot 4K 30 FPS Ultra wide angle videos here or switch between the white and Ultra wide angle lens during recording none of which is possible on the Note 3. the OnePlus Note 3 force behind in terms of selfie videos as well as it's only limited to 1080p 30 FPS as opposed to 4k 30fps on the Samsung Galaxy a54 and even at 1080p 30 FPS OnePlus not these output is not newspaper okay lastly battery wise I've been getting similar screen on time on the Galaxy a54 and the OnePlus Note 3 at around 5 to 5.5 hours I know that's nothing extraordinary but the Note 3 does impress with its charging speed as its 80 watt power brake which is also included Inside the Box by the way can take the phone from zero to 100 in just 35 minutes okay so let's now take one final look at the scoreboard and it seems that the OnePlus Note 3 has a comfortable lead over the Galaxy a54 but it's not just the score I honestly think that the Note 3 is a better phone overall considering everything it offers for the eyes it's also slightly cheaper than the Galaxy a54 making it an even better value so if you want a balanced phone with excellent performance nice display and acceptable cameras the Note 3 is the one you should go with the Galaxy a54 on the other hand is not a bad option either if you don't play a lot of games but ultimately you're paying slightly premium for the Samsung brand name here so everybody that was my full comparison of the Samsung Galaxy a54 and the OnePlus Note 3 which one would you go for do let us know in the comments below and if you like this video don't forget to give it a thumbs up and while you're there don't forget to subscribe to our Channel till then I'm prathim
