The Lenovo Yoga 900s: A Revolutionary 2-in-1 System
What we're looking at here is the Lenovo Yoga 900s, and this is Lenovo's new high-end convertible 2-in-one system. This system is not only super thin but also super light, with an overall thickness of 5 inches and a weight of approximately 2.2 pounds. To put that into perspective, there are only a few systems that can beat that level of thinness and lightness.
One of the standout features of this system is its solid feel. When compared to other systems like Lenovo's La Z, which was shown last year, this one feels much more substantial. The key to achieving this solid feel lies in Lenovo's watchband hinge, a feature that has always been among the better aspects of many Yoga laptops. This hinge provides a high degree of flexibility throughout the entire range, resulting in a smooth and consistent experience.
As you might expect from a system marketed as a 2-in-1, it doesn't come with a powerhouse processor. Instead, it features Core M processors, specifically an M7. However, this isn't to say that the performance is lacking. The system can still offer up to 8 GB of RAM and 512 GB of PCI Express solid state storage, making it suitable for many tasks.
Another notable feature of the Lenovo Yoga 900s is its display. With a resolution of 1440p, this system offers crisp visuals, making it an attractive option for those who value good picture quality.
One area where opinions may split among users is with regards to the keyboard. As you might have expected from such a thin system, there isn't a lot of key travel available, giving it a feel reminiscent of Apple MacBooks in this regard. However, the keyboard itself is shaped as one would expect, and it's certainly not a deal-breaker.
On the other hand, compared to thicker systems, the Lenovo Yoga 900s is surprisingly usable for a tablet, despite its slender dimensions. This makes it stand out from many of the Windows 2-in-ones that are often too heavy to use comfortably as tablets.
Pricing for this system is $10.99, and it's set to become available in March of this year.
