Dell Latitude 73: A Commercial-Focused Laptop with Unique Features
I'm here at the bar Dell has rented out for CS 2016 this year, and I'm with Kelly who's going to tell us a little bit more about the Dell Latitude 73. Now, this is looking a lot similar to the Dell XPS 13, but obviously it's not the same thing. When we look at the XPS 13 and the Latitude 13, what we did was we looked at the best practices that we took in innovative design and the infinity bezel, and then the ability to make this lightweight.
This product is actually 2.48 pounds, so it's lighter than the XPS 13. We also took into consideration what we needed to do for our commercial customers, because our Latitude line is typically sold directly to our commercial customers in G500. So, we added in the opportunity of having mobile broadband, and we also introduced Type-C ports that allow for docking and video out as well as Thunderbolt video transfer.
When we look at this product, it's actually available in two different designs: you can get it in aluminum or carbon fiber. Our carbon fiber material is actually 40 tons, which means we went out and investigated what we needed to do to continue to maintain the Latitude quality while ensuring that our corporate customer had the device they need, but maintaining the thin and lightness they need to take it with them on the go.
One of the best tricks of the XPS 13 is its portability. It has a pretty large battery for its size, which was an important consideration for us when developing this product. Currently, we're expecting between 8 and 10 hours of battery life because we know that's important for professionals on the go.
Instead of investing in taking a battery and slapping it on the back to make it heavier, we have actually developed a Dell Power Adapter that is a portable power brick that allows you to connect it to this device on the go and also charge your cell phone. This will double the battery life of this product, which is a big advantage for our commercial customers.
Pricing and Availability
So, when can we expect this product? It will actually be available at the end of March, and the starting price point is going to be around $12.99. That's a great value for what you're getting in terms of features and performance. Overall, the Dell Latitude 73 is a commercial-focused laptop with unique features that make it stand out from other devices on the market.
