Motorport is What We're Going to Do: An Unbelievable Experience at Festival of Speed

As we set up our cameras and gear, it was clear that today was going to be an exciting day. Our driver, Elvin, was about to take on the iconic Goodwood Forest rally stage in his Toyota GR Yaris Rally Team car. This was his first run of the day and his first time at Festival of Speed, making every lap a special sighting lap.

"I warned you it would be a little slow," Elvin said with a grin as we began our first lap. "But I'm glad you're enjoying it so far." The camera caught Elvin's expression as he took in the surroundings, and it was clear that this wasn't going to be a slow ride by any means. As we made our way around the track, Elvin warned us about the speed of the car, assuring us that it would pick up pace once he got his eye in.

And then, just like that, everything changed. We headed back to the start for a full-on lap of the Goodwood Forest rally stage, and what happened next was nothing short of unbelievable. The camera captured every moment of Elvin's driving skills as he expertly navigated the treacherous terrain. His focus and determination were evident in every corner and straightaway.

The biggest difference between this sighting lap and our full-on lap of the rally stage was how much more skilled Elvin had become. He quickly settled into a rhythm, his confidence and speed allowing him to push the limits of what was possible on the track. As we watched, mesmerized, Elvin's driving skills were put to the test.

Now that we've experienced the thrill of Rally One, it's time to move on to Rally Two with Yari Matti in the wheel. This car is slightly different from its rally counterpart, with less power but a more agile and nimble feel. We're excited to see how Elvin takes to the challenge.

As we transitioned to the Toyota GR Yaris Rally Team car, we couldn't help but feel a sense of excitement and anticipation. This was our first time in the car, and we were eager to experience its capabilities firsthand. The main difference between this car and the rally one was the amount of power, with the latter boasting 400 horsepower compared to the former's 300.

Despite the reduced power, the Toyota GR Yaris Rally Team car still packs a punch. Its hybrid boost system gives it an edge on certain stages, making it a formidable opponent in competition. However, on this particular stage, the difference in power was not as pronounced.

The rally two car is indeed more nimble and responsive than its counterpart, but we were surprised to find that the performance gap was not as significant as we had anticipated. As Elvin pushed the limits of what was possible on the track, it became clear that grip was the key factor in determining speed.

With the Toyota GR Yaris Rally Team car, we experienced a thrilling ride through Experience Valley. We watched in awe as Elvin expertly navigated the twists and turns, his driving skills put to the test by the treacherous terrain. As we followed along behind him, we couldn't help but feel grateful for this unique opportunity.

Experience Valley was an absolute must-do on our list of activities at Festival of Speed. The sheer speed and agility required to navigate its challenging terrain made it a true test of driving prowess. We felt privileged to have witnessed such an incredible display of driving skill, and we're already counting down the days until our next adventure.

As we reflect on our experiences today, we can't help but feel grateful for the opportunity to experience Rally One and Rally Two with Toyota. From the moment we stepped foot at Festival of Speed, it was clear that this event would be an unforgettable experience. surface it's rained a bit overnight so uh I'm guessing it's going to be quite slow speed on yeah sideways Lots sideway tell bit about the yeah so it's a current rally one GIS um so 400 horsepower from the from the engine I should say and then another 13 from the hybrid unit so best it's so I've driv a standard to Roo car and they're qu so that's going to be on another level en yeah sure it's it's completely designed both for the World Rally Championship um they're now with space designite b so looks a bit like a G from the outside not carry forward of course the the body panels have to badge across well the tailgate has to come from the road the doors have to come from the road and the okay so yeah right so I'm going to get strapped in and then we're going to head out on the rally stage uh this is going hey come in here and have a look at this this is quite a view in here so let's just have a look around so uh first off I'm loving the Navigator's foot rest where I've got uh wash wipe pit limiter and uh trip I guess but then the view here for Alan is just look at that the steering wheel just an immense thing an absolutely immense thing uh yeah so to be in a rally one car uh it's a dream come true I've always wanted to go on a on a rally stage in a full-blown WRC car 500 plus horsepower gr Yaris rally one car yeah days don't get much better than this we're all good to go you're all good to go yeah we're good to go motorport is what we're going to do let's go fast send it right I best give the camera to Nick all right right oh so this was actually elvin's first run of the day we've done rally one now we need to do rally two with Yar Matty laa I mean doesn't get much better a day for me pleasure to meet you yeah nice to meet you too I hope you're enjoying I did I did it's very slippy out there yes it is but I'm looking for I'm a very good passenger so you can full sent you I can count on you yeah yeah okay don't count on me for Pace notes know but yeah so so what's the difference big difference between this and than that I would say the the rally 2 is a bit it's more Nimble than rally one but we definitely less power we about uh about 300 when uh uh righ one has a 400 um and then it has hybrid boost and it has more uh downfalls this doesn't have so much downfalls but on this kind of stage it doesn't really matter the downfall doesn't uh make a make big big difference when it's very technical and sleppy I think the difference is with the times are not so big but the faster you go the more the grip is then the difference c yeah let's do it right then let's head off uh an experience Valley to it's a good day this 20 seconds here we go yes you ready to do the ACD here we go oh oh oh oh oh that was incredible wow there were times where you just have to wait for the slide to finish yes and I love I love the way you use the banks to kind of keep you back on this R yes exactly that's the thing is you you need to use the banks not too much well done guys yeah I know that he it was the fastest time of today really yay fastest time of the day it's early in the day yeah still you take that yeah exactly exactly there absolutely me wow what experience really really dirty so they're just cleaning off the rally one car I don't even know where to begin to summarize that experience it's a dream come true for me I've always wanted to go in a WRC car with a factory driver and I've just done that today really interesting the difference between the two cars first up the rally one car over 500 horsepower ugly probably so slippy today we were better off in the rally too but to have El and Evans Drive me round and just experience the car that'll be a red arrow going over there to experience the car the grip the acceleration very low grip surface today that chalk when it gets wet is like like ice but the suspension travel just phenomenal phenomenal thing and then to jump in the car with Yari Matti was amazing the rally 2 car so yeah massive thank you to to Toyota for the invite and we've been having a chat we may well have some very cool video plans in the making involving me and a rally car but anyway because basically I need to now get to drive one um so yeah I hope you enjoyed that as much as I did what a special special privilege to be able to experience such an amazing car at an amazing venue if you come to the Festival of speed
