"WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: enforeign hey what's going on everybody it's ETA Prime back here again today we're going to be taking a look at an awesome application that allows you to adjust all of the parameters on your handheld gaming device now what I've got here is the Asus Rog Ally but this will work with other handhelds basically from ryzen 3000 up to 7000 right now and it's known as universal x86 tuning utility handheld Edition so this is actually coming to us from James cj60 who did Apu tuning utility Universal x86 tuning utility and now we've got a full-blown version for our handhelds and this is great because we can adjust basically all the parameters we need thermal limits TDP CPU clock GPU clock we can even turn cores on and off we've got eight cores here we go down to two cores if we want to with the Rog Ally rtss frame rate limiter rtss adaptive frame rate limiter and we can also enable or disable Radeon super resolution directly from the app it works from the built-in controls so we can bring this up anytime even in game and in this video I want to show you how to install it set it up and use it so if you're ready to get this installed on your handheld gaming device let's go ahead and jump right into it installation is straightforward I've just plugged this into my game capture I've also got a mouse to make it a bit easier to navigate but you can do it all on the handheld so uh we just need to head over to the GitHub link I'll leave it in the description this is by James cj60 and actually if we check out all of the stuff they've released AMD Apu tuning utility which was the old one it swapped over to the universal x86 tuning utility now we've got the handheld version go ahead and read through everything lots of great information and this will be updated since uh we've got a lot of handhelds on the market this is something that a lot of people have been wanting but in order to get it we're going to go to releases and right now we're in beta 4. it'll be higher in the future previous menu lb next menu RB show and hide the menu lbrb and d-pad up or if you're using the eye Neo the ionio button we're going to download it here once it's finished we'll just go ahead and run it and install I'm going to use just for me it's going to give us a desktop icon and you might need NET Framework installed it'll prompt you and it'll actually take you over to the website and download it for you but I've already got it installed on my handheld and uh in order to get it up and running all we're going to need to do is use the desktop icon to launch it and we're going to navigate with the d-pad so we can enable Wi-Fi Bluetooth we can change the brightness volume we can change the performance mode from Silent all the way up to turbo mode mute the built-in microphone you can emulate the mouse input start on system boot start minimized and we can close application now this is just kind of our main menu here we're going to press RB it's going to bring us over to our performance tuning and this is where we can really tweak and tune the Ally or whatever handheld you have this installed on at the top we've got our temperature limit we can go up to 100 degrees Celsius stock is 95. I'm going to leave it there so I'm just going to kind of leave this one off power limit this is going to come in really handy so we've got all of the Power profiles with the Rog Ally here also but we can manually adjust this and we can go way down here we can go down to 5 watts and we can go up to 60. I'm just going to keep it at 15 right now curve Optimizer Max CPU clock another one that will really help out with battery life especially with Indie games that don't need a super high clock on that CPU we can take this down or up just to get the maximum clock because you know out of the box it's going to go up pretty much as high as it can given the wattage we have thrown at this I'll give you a demonstration in just a second but I'm going to turn that one off Max CPU count with the ryzen Z1 extreme we've got eight cores 16 threads we can take it down to two cores but four cores is really where it's going to be with Indie Games we don't need eight cores all the time when we're playing easier to run games we can disable four of them and in turn save some battery igpu clock remember this goes up to 2700 megahertz but we can manually set this if we want to I'm going to leave this off it does help out with certain emulators like Yuzu but I've noticed with most of the AAA games I like to run leaving it auto is kind of where it's at we've also got that rtss frame rate limit adaptive frame rate energy performance preference taking this down to zero is going to give us the maximum we can get out of this CPU it's going to throw as much as we can at it at any given time but out of the box this is set at 25. this can help out quite a bit for getting higher clocks on the CPU if you need them and of course we've got that Radeon super resolution right at the bottom now a lot of the main things that a lot of people will be using here is the power limit obviously I'm going to turn this on and I'm at 30 Watts personally I usually set this around 32 watts because I like to use the Adaptive frame rate so if we go down here we've got the Adaptive frame rate or adaptive FPS and basically with the Adaptive we can go minimum let's say a minimum 45 maximum 60 and instead of using in-game vsync this will actually lock that frame rate to where we need it to be and it'll try not to go under your minimum but a lot of people are probably just going to be using the rtss frame rate limit you can set that anywhere from 5 FPS up to 120 and I want to demo that real quick because it can really smooth out gameplay we're going to go with uh Zoom Eternal and try this out and of course this is still in beta it's beta 4 but uh so far I've been having really good luck with it so I set this to 60. I've also got my TDP set at 32 lb RB up on your d-pad is going to shut it down lb RB up on the d-pad will bring it up and this is at any given time even when you're running a game so we can bring this up during a game and adjust everything on the Fly alright so here we are with doom Eternal 720p low I've got the TDP set at 20 watts and as you can see we can go over 60 in some cases but it also drops below what's really happening here is the power management is trying to figure out how much wattage it needs to send to the GPU and how much wattage it needs to send to the CPU easy way to kind of alleviate this and staying at that same wattage is a frame rate limiter now we could turn vsync on if we want to but I'm going to be using the universal x86 tuning utility here for handheld we're going to press lbrv up on our d-pad you can see that my power limit is set at 20 watts and I don't have a frame rate limiter on right now we're going to go to the rtss frame rate limiter and I'm going to set this to 60fps now remember we're still only at 20 watts and at 20 watts right now you can see that our Apu power or the power there for that CPU is around 14 to 15. so really we do need a little more take a look at that FPS you'll see it dip down but we can get a really really smooth experience out of this by upping that TDP along with the frame limiter and we're going to go up to 28 Watts so we're going to open it up again I'm going to go back to my power limit and I'm going to go up to 28. now it won't take 28 watts in total to run this at 60 but that'll just give me some lead way in case I have a real bad dip now instead of that Apu running at 13 to 14 watts we're up there on average at 25 watts but you can see now we've got a steady 60 FPS with this game having quick access to the frame limiter and TDP is really awesome for in-game adjustments that way you can kind of do this on the Fly and figure out exactly what you need to do to get your game to run much better on the Ally or any other handheld this is compatible with now I would recommend with this game turn on Dynamic resolution set that frame limiter to 60 and you're going to be good to go even at 15 watts but it's going to take that resolution under 720. right now we're at a static 720 and I think it does look great on the built-in screen even over game capture it's not that bad okay so that's going to wrap it up for this one once some more updates are had for the universal x86 tuning utility for handheld I will be making another video but this is really great keep in mind we've got all of those adjustments on the fly from within a game with just a couple short button presses you can use Armory crate if you want to and I'm not going to get rid of it at all this is kind of just a supplement that allows me to really fine tune a lot of parameters to get these games to run better on my handheld if you want to try this out I'll leave a link to the GitHub in the description below and if you've got any questions let me know in the comments below but that's going to wrap it up for this one like always thanks for watching\n"
