How To Make SIX Different GIANT DONUT CAKES! Drizzled with Chocolate & Vanilla Donut GLAZE!
**The Art of Creating Giant Donut Cakes**
Like real donuts, giant donut cakes can be made using simple ingredients. For my vanilla glaze, I just use powdered sugar, cream, and vanilla. To make it even simpler, you can whisk these ingredients together in a bowl to create a smooth and creamy glaze. The consistency of the glaze can be adjusted by adding more cream if needed. And that's not all - with a few creative toppings, giant donut cakes can become a delightful treat for anyone who loves baking.
**Creating a Lemon Mering Pie-Inspired Donut**
One of my favorite doughnut cakes is inspired by a lemon mering pie. To make it, I glazed the doughnut with a vanilla glaze and then pushed a giant marshmallow into the hole of the donut. Next, I piped a beautiful mountain of lemon curd into the hole, followed by a quick meringue topping that was burned to perfection using a brulee torch. To add an extra touch, I sprinkled some candied lemon slices on top for a pop of color and flavor.
**Honoring Homer Simpson with a Brightly-Colored Donut**
To pay homage to the great Homer Simpson, I created a donut cake that's sure to brighten up anyone's day. Using my favorite vanilla glaze, I added a bit of pink food coloring to give it a fun and playful look. The donut was then glazed and topped with giant fondant sprinkles - because who doesn't love a little extra flair? This donut is the perfect treat for anyone who loves donuts and loves Homer Simpson.
**A Coconut Cream Donut Cake with a Twist**
My next creation is a coconut cream donut cake that's sure to delight. Instead of glazing it with vanilla, I chose to ice it lightly in my Italian meringue buttercream. To add some extra flavor and texture, I toasted some coconut shards and pressed them all around the donut. Don't be surprised if you find yourself hooked on coconut cream - this treat is sure to become a favorite.
**A Carnival-Style Donut Cake**
One of my most celebratory doughnut cakes was inspired by the feeling of being at a carnival. Using my trusty vanilla glaze, I created a colorful and festive donut cake that's perfect for anyone who loves a good party. The topping consisted of caramel corn, rock candy, cotton candy, and blue candy sticks - it was like a mini-festival on top of the doughnut.
**A Mint Oreo Donut Cake with Peppermint Flair**
My next creation is a minty fresh donut cake that's sure to satisfy any sweet tooth. I dyed my vanilla glaze a bit green and added some peppermint extract to give it an extra boost of flavor. The result was a donut cake that was both refreshing and decadent, topped with chopped Oreos and peppermint patties.
**A S'more-Inspired Donut Cake for the Ages**
Last but not least, I created a s'more-inspired donut cake that's sure to be a crowd-pleaser. Using my chocolate glaze, I glazed the doughnut and then topped it with giant marshmallows and graham crackers. To finish it off, I added some chocolate bark that had tiny gram crackers and teeny little marshmallows - it was like a s'more in every bite.
**A Blind Taste Test Challenge**
For a fun bonus challenge, I teamed up with my friend Sarah Lynn from The Domestic Geek to see who could guess the flavors of a whole bunch of donuts. We blindfolded ourselves and dug in, determined to figure out which donuts were which. It was a tough competition, but someone had to win - and trust me, these treats were delicious.
**Behind-the-Scenes Fun**
To give you a glimpse into my world, I'll let you know that I recently attended the YouTube Creator space opening in Toronto, where I brought some of my doughnut cakes and made a few more. You might spot some familiar faces in the photos - and if you're on Facebook, be sure to check out my live streams from set, because who knows what will happen next?
