DOLLAR TREE Christmas Kitchen Cabinets Decor DIY - PLAID WEEK Day 3

**Measuring Up: A Step-by-Step Guide to Creating Ribbon Bows for Your Cabinets**

As I began working on my cabinet decor, I realized that creating ribbon bows was an essential task. To ensure a perfect fit, it's crucial to measure your cabinets carefully. I measured my cabinets and gave myself 3 inches on each side to allow the bow to wrap underneath the cabinet. This measurement proved to be vital in determining how much ribbon I needed.

**Choosing Your Ribbon**

For this tutorial, I used two different styles of ribbon - a deer-print ribbon and a plaid ribbon. The reason for using both is that I haven't decided yet which one I'll ultimately use, and I want to see which pattern looks better on my cabinets in the end. To cut my ribbon, I simply used scissors. However, if you're planning to use hot glue for your bow, it's recommended to use a hot glue gun.

**Preparing Your Ribbon**

Once I had measured my cabinet, I proceeded to prepare my ribbon. I cut two strands of ribbon - one deer-print and one plaid. The purpose of cutting both is that I want to see which pattern looks better on my cabinets without committing to just one style right away. To attach the bow to the cabinet, I used tape initially, but I soon realized that it wasn't a reliable method.

**Attaching the Ribbon**

To attach the ribbon to the cabinet, I started by taking a strand of ribbon and placing it in the center of my cabinet. To get to the top of the cabinet, I needed a chair, which proved to be an essential tool in this process. I centered the ribbon and wrapped it around the inside of the cabinet, securing it with tape. The next step was to wrap another strand of ribbon, plaid or deer-print, around the cabinet, taping it to the bottom cabinet as well. It's essential to make sure the ribbon is flat and not moving.

**Finishing Touches**

The final step in creating my ribbon bow is adding the bow to the center of the ribbon. I initially used tape to hold the bow in place, but I soon realized that this method was unreliable. To secure the ribbon permanently, I will use hot glue. However, it's crucial to note that hot glue can damage certain surfaces, such as cabinet doors or furniture. Therefore, it's essential to be careful when applying hot glue and avoid touching other surfaces.

**Tips and Variations**

One of the most significant tips for creating ribbon bows is measuring your cabinets carefully before starting. Measuring the top and bottom of the cabinet will ensure that you have enough ribbon to wrap around the entire piece. Additionally, it's a good idea to use sturdy tape that won't damage your cabinet's finish. For those who want to add an extra layer of security to their bow, they can attach it to the inside of the cabinet using hot glue.

**The Next Step: Putting it All Together**

For the remaining cabinets, I plan to leave them clear and see-through, as they have glass doors. However, for all other cabinets, I'll be applying my ribbon bow, making sure to secure it with tape initially and then attaching it permanently with hot glue. The final result will depend on how much plaid versus deer-print ribbon I use, which may come down to the last minute.

**Conclusion**

Creating ribbon bows for your cabinets is an easy DIY project that requires some patience and attention to detail. By measuring your cabinets carefully and using the right materials, you can achieve a beautiful and elegant finish. In this tutorial, I provided a step-by-step guide on how to create ribbon bows, including tips and variations to make the process smoother. Whether you choose plaid or deer-print ribbon, the result is sure to be stunning, making your cabinets the centerpiece of your home decor.

"WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: enso I've decided that chances are I've probably died and gone to heaven and I haven't figured it out yet because there's no way crafts can be this easy this cheap and look so good like that's is that that can't be reality right so I guess my head would be YouTube in Dollar Tree all right hey guys so it's Friday night I'm just kind of relaxing I'm watching a Christmas movie it's actually called A Christmas Kiss I don't know if anyone has seen it I am a huge fan of Hallmark movies I don't even know if it's a Hallmark movie it may be like an ABC Family movie but it's like a movie made for TV and I absolutely love it so much so that I've bought the DVD and if you have Netflix it's actually streaming on Netflix right now I absolutely freaking love this movie I've been watching it it's either this or Christmas with a cranks so my daughter is at a varsity football game Friday Night Lights here in Texas big deal so and I'm just taking the time to look at all of my Christmas stuff and figure out what videos are going to come next and this is plaid week and I'm so excited plaid week day three day one I did the cutest Dollar Tree picture frame with reindeers on it go check that video out I will link it down in the description box for you plaid day two I did what did I do I don't even know and it was today how do I not know a craft that I did today plaid day two oh plaid day two was my chalk tray my Christmas chalk tray and I Incorporated a plaid bow into my tray just so that it can give that extra plaid feel for my Christmas decor now with that said again if you haven't been watching my other videos and if you don't like plaid that's okay just take out the Plaid from my idea and incorporate the pattern that fits your style best I don't know if you can see this but my dog is right there and that's not where her bed goes whatever whatever keeps her quiet you know what I'm saying fine stay right there but enough of you walking around the house on the hardwood floors all the time click clack clicky clack so I have been reading all the comments it is really difficult for me to respond back but when I do I respond like in as many as I can um but if I don't respond to you it's not because I didn't want to it's just because I kind of ran out of time between working so many long hours taking my daughter to chair picking her from school all that stuff you know it's just really difficult for me to respond back to you guys but I do read every single comment and I kind of just want to take the time to answer some of the comments right here right now just because this tutorial is actually really really short so if you don't want to hear um my responses to some of the comments then you can just go ahead and Skip forward to the video not the video but the part where I talk about the DIY I'm just kind of answer just a couple of them just because they're the ones that are sticking out in my head the most but I know that when I did my clean out my craft closet using Dollar Tree organization items I had a ton of people comment on what I could do with ribbon and most of it was just like using a hanger and then spooling the ribbon on the hanger I'm guessing I know exactly what you're talking about and that's an amazing idea and and when or if my craft closet expands I will probably have to do that so that I can utilize that drawer that all my ribbon is in for a better space um but that's an amazing idea I may or may not do that here sometime really soon but thank you so much for the suggestion what's the other question oh so another thing pocket letters I have seen somebody tell me that they responded or they sent me an email for me to respond back I saw your comment honey I am going to respond back to all of my emails I don't usually check my cheap crafty girl email that often I am going to be checking emails when I put out the request for pocket letter Pals I had no idea that so many of you would want to be Pals with me I had no clue I honestly thought okay maybe two or three people like literally two or three people so with that said I don't know how I'm going to choose my pals I'm going to do it in the most Fair way that I can but the reality is I can't do a pocket letter pal with everyone that's going to be way too expensive for me and I also haven't even started I've never even done one so I think I'm going to start off with two or three pocket letter Pals and I will let you know if you are one of those via email and then maybe I can like trade in and out and do um and get to everybody that has sent me a request to be a pocket letter pal so you are more than welcome if you'd like to send me some um but I am going to have to probably start picking a couple first and get those done and then do a couple more and send those to the next people in line but I promise I will do it in the most Fair way possible no way in any way shape or form choosing one person over another I'll probably put names in a hat and draw that way that I think that's probably the most Fair way that I can do it but I promise I will respond to everybody's email that sent a pocket letter pal request I cannot believe so many of you want to do this with me I'm so freaking excited I can't even handle it so there were more questions I just can't remember what they are it's Friday night I'm tired but let's go ahead and get started in the Cy it is so incredibly easy that I'm just going to sit here in my pajamas and verbally tell you how to do it while inserting pictures right here let's talk about the materials of course I'll insert a picture but I will just kind of show you all the things that I used if you watch my Dollar Tree hauls then these are items that I have hauled in those videos so if you want to go back check those out um whenever I haul things I usually have an idea in mind so with that said let me just show you the Dollar Tree ribbon that I hauled with the cabinet bows in in my mind so this one right here with the deers when I first haul this I was in love with it I was so incredibly happy that Dollar Tree had something like this because if you've been watching my videos you know I'm all about that dear life and even the print is amazing like there's so much detail look at the Gold scroll with in the deer itself his antlers are gorgeous there's snowflakes and the best part about this ribbon especially for the wrapping the cabinet like presents or decor with the ribbon I don't even know what to call it honestly is that the print goes vertical which is perfect for this Craft um and I thought that I loved it when I hauled it but when I put it up on my cabinet I fell in love with this just tend times more which basically means in the morning I'll be going to Dollar Tree and buying every single roll that they have of this because I know that this will probably will not be back next year talked about this before Dollar Tree brings some items back repeatedly religiously and there are items that they don't bring back the ones I've noticed that they typically don't bring back is anything with a pattern they bring back the ribbon itself but they do a different pattern every year so I'm going to go ahead and go to Dollar Tree and scoop this up because I'm obsessed with this ribbon so this is one of the ribbons that I picked for that I also picked this one it's just got green and red and gold and these are my colors I do traditional I don't do silver silver to me is more modern and my taste is traditional but they do have a lot of silver and gorgeous bows at the Dollar Tree as well and here's another roll of the deer another roll of the deer the only problem that I have with Dollar Tree ribbon is that you don't get much whatsoever you get 9 feet people 9 ft let me tell you let's talk about this for a second because this is important just because I do some videos that have Dollar Tree um like DIYs doesn't mean you're always getting the best deal sometime I do use items that say $9.99 you're going whoa whoa whoa whoa that's $10 one no it wasn't because it was Hobby Lobby had all their Christmas stuff at this time 40% off so it was less than it was a little bit more than $5 but you get 90 ft $5 90 ft $5 of this ribbon would be 45t that's it $5 of this ribbon is 45t $5 of this ribbon is 90 ft so as you can tell like this is a really great deal here is the other one that picked up from Dollar Tree just kind of lost its other little tag or whatever it's just red it's got Scrolls it's very very pretty and then of course I do have my plaid and I love this one because it's got the wire edging so it's it can bend easily and shape easily and of course I love plaid so it is plaid week so I wanted to show you what plaid would look like and they have different kinds of plaid at Hobby Lobby but this is my favorite it's just more traditional and then I use some scissors for this specific video I used tape and you'll need a hot glue gun I used a measuring tool but you really don't have to and I'll get to that in a minute on how what else you could do and then these bows that I hauled from the Dollar Tree this is why I haul these and this is why I hauled six because I think I have six cabinets to decorate the reason why I love these so much is just because it's the perfect size for cabinets and I've talked about this before if you haven't seen me say this but I have three Dollar Trees near me and of those three only one carryed the size so I really oh my gosh I really hope you guys find this if you love this tutorial enough to do this actual DIY yourself so definitely make your list make sure that you get enough ribbon if you want to you know what go ahead and be a lot smarter than I am measure your cabinets first and that way you know how many feet y that you're going to need of ribbon and okay let's go ahead and get started on how I did this so the first thing I did is I measured my cabinets and I gave myself 3 in on each side so that it could wrap underneath the cabinet okay you don't just want to measure the outside of the cabinet you want to give it 3 feet at the top of the cabinet and 3T at the bottom of the cabinet so that you can wrap it and tape it on the inside of the cab cabinet so once I measured my uh my measurement with 3T on each side was 33t so I had 33t and so what I did was I cut a strand of my deer and I cut a strand of plaid now the reason why I cut both is because I haven't decided yet which one I'm actually going to do and I don't think I'm going to really know until I start putting out my Decor so this is probably probably going to be one of the last items that I put up as my Christmas decor because it's really going to depend on did I overdo it on plaid is this too much or is this too much so really it's going to come down to the very last minute on when I put these up so for now I'm just showing you two different styles now the first thing you want to do is simply take your Ribbon put it in the center of your cabinet you might need a chair I know I did I need a chair to get to the top of the cabinet like up here and you just want to center it and you tape the inside first you wrap this around tape it to the cabinet you pull it nice and tight and you tape it to the bottom cabinet and make sure it's nice and flat and your tape isn't moving um use some really good sturdy tape some really good sticky tape but not too sticky because you don't want to peel the paint off of your cabinets so you think that's easy well the very last step is just simply adding your Ribbon to the center your cabinet now I will say that for the purpose of this video because I wasn't sure which I was doing I used tape to just hold it in the center I literally had to take the picture so quickly so the bow wouldn't fall out because the tape does not work but I don't want to waste my ribbon so I'm not sure yet but what you really want to do is permanently hot glue this to the center of your bow now I will say this you may have to put your Ribbon on your cabinet secure it with tape put your bow Center see it Center and then you may have to remove your actual ribbon off of the cabinet again while holding it here so that you can hot glue it because you don't want to have this fasten on the cabinet and hot glue because that hot glue will go through this ribbon and you don't want that hot glue to touch your cabinet doors or any of your furnature or anything like that but if it's not too tight and you want to secure it to the cabinet and then hot glue that way then just pull your hand behind it behind and have your hand between the cabinet and the ribbon and then just hot glue to the center and that is literally it that's it that's all that's it so I will be doing all of my cabinets that you see here except for the ones with the glass doors I'm going to leave those clear and see through and I'm so excited about this you guys what will you comment below and let me know which pattern you like more most thank you guys for watching I hope you guys enjoyed this tutorial it was so incredibly easy but if you have any questions let me know just comment below and I will see you in day four of plaid week see you guys next time bye e forso I've decided that chances are I've probably died and gone to heaven and I haven't figured it out yet because there's no way crafts can be this easy this cheap and look so good like that's is that that can't be reality right so I guess my head would be YouTube in Dollar Tree
