The 15 Pro Max: A New Era in Apple Devices
Apple's latest iPhone, the 15 Pro Max, boasts an impressive array of features and upgrades that set it apart from its predecessor, the 14 Pro Max. In this review, we'll dive into the key aspects of the device and explore what makes it a standout choice for those looking to upgrade their smartphone experience.
One of the most notable changes is the new A17 Pro processor, which Apple claims will provide a significant boost in performance. While everyday tasks such as opening apps, checking email, and playing music are smooth and seamless, there's not much of a noticeable difference between this device and its predecessor when it comes to regular tasks. However, where the 15 Pro Max truly shines is in its ability to handle more demanding tasks, such as playing AAA games like Resident Evil 4 and Assassin's Creed.
The addition of eight gigs of RAM is a significant upgrade over previous models, allowing for smoother gameplay and reduced lag. The new GPU also provides a noticeable boost in graphics performance, making it an ideal choice for gamers who want to take their mobile gaming experience to the next level. With the ability to play games on a monitor through USB-C, the 15 Pro Max is set to revolutionize the way we play games on our devices.
Another area where the 15 Pro Max excels is in its connectivity. Apple has introduced a new 5G modem that provides faster and more reliable connections. In tests, we noticed significant improvements in stability and signal strength, even in areas with low coverage. Whether you're using Wi-Fi or cellular data, the 15 Pro Max seems to maintain a stable connection, reducing dropped calls and lost signals.
The speakers on the 15 Pro Max are also a notable upgrade over previous models. While Apple didn't reveal any specific changes to the speaker design, our tests suggest that they sound significantly better than those found on the 14 Pro Max. The new speakers provide clear and detailed audio, even at high volumes, making them an excellent choice for music lovers.
Of course, with great power comes great cost. The 15 Pro Max starts at around $1,200 in the US, which is a significant increase over previous models. Additionally, the device's build quality can be prone to issues, such as slipping out of pockets or breaking more easily than its predecessors.
In terms of negatives, there are a few areas where the 15 Pro Max falls short. The device can be slippery, making it difficult to hold onto without a case or skin. Furthermore, some users have reported overheating issues, although Apple has yet to comment on whether these are widespread problems or isolated incidents.
Overall, the 15 Pro Max is an impressive upgrade over previous models, offering significant improvements in performance and connectivity. While there may be some drawbacks, such as cost and build quality concerns, the device's strengths make it a compelling choice for those looking to take their smartphone experience to the next level.
As with any new device, there's always room for improvement. Apple has promised to address some of the early manufacturer issues that can affect devices, such as battery life and Safari performance. However, based on our tests so far, it seems that these concerns are largely addressed in the 15 Pro Max.
In conclusion, the 15 Pro Max is a device that's worth considering for those looking to upgrade their smartphone experience. With its impressive performance, improved connectivity, and enhanced speaker quality, it's an excellent choice for gamers, music lovers, and anyone looking for a high-end mobile device. As always, we'll be keeping a close eye on this device and providing updates as more information becomes available.
"WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: enhi everyone Aaron here for zollotech and the iPhone 15 Pro Max has been out a week at this point I've been using it full time as my main device and I wanted to share the overall experience of course we'll share that throughout the years I typically do but the overall experience as far as durability some people are concerned about that whether or not the iPhone 15 Pro Max actually overheats I've tested that in multiple ways we'll also talk about battery life and more but the first thing is the design when you pick up the 15 Pro Max for the first time you definitely notice the weight difference if you're coming from a 14 pro Max going from stainless steel to the new titanium frame definitely makes a difference in the overall weight of the phone it feels more balanced it seems to just be a nicer feel in the hand because of the curved edges and it's just nicer overall it feels more like when you went back to an iPhone 10s Max for the first time and this phone has those curved edges like I said it curves around the edges and goes to a flat side it's sort of like apple went back and combined the iPhone 12 with the iPhone 10 series or iPhone 6 series curved the edges just around the glass or close to the glass met them up to the glass but then gave us that flat side from the iPhone 12 series to give it a little bit more grip however it still is a little bit more slippery than we had with the other phones due to that curved Edge but in general it feels great I've handed this to many different people to check out and they notice it immediately that it's much lighter so that's great news especially because it seemed to be getting just too heavy and large in general this feels much better to hold on to and it's a little bit narrower as well now as far as new features of course we have that action button and I've actually tended to program it just for the flashlight there's not really any other use for me so far of course I'll be testing this out a little bit more maybe I'll program a shortcut to it but I actually figured out I'll just set it up to Flashlight since I use it a lot instead of just setting it to silent like I would normally and leaving it alone at least I have some additional functionality there so again maybe an accessibility feature or shortcut in the future but for now it's set to the flashlight as far as the overall durability well that's been a concern for a lot of people as many people have seen Bend tests where people have snapped the glass on the back so far I've had no issues of course I'm not going to try that but I've had no issues and I've accidentally dropped it on a tile floor once this week so that was something I typically never do and dropped it on the floor and actually found that it took some of the coating off so I opted for the blue titanium color this year I also have a natural titanium one that I use as a video camera we'll talk about in a moment but this one is actually chipped a little bit from hitting the floor so as you can see that you can't feel it at all but it chipped the PVD coating off also I've noticed some wear in the upper corner of this so as you'll see above the action button I'm not sure if that's the same thing but it seems to be getting worse maybe that's from setting it on a table but I typically just have it in my pocket and I set it down on a table so that might wear over time a little bit more and of course if that bothers you you can put a case on it or maybe just go with the natural titanium color additionally of course people are concerned about fingerprints or that looking terrible and it does kind of look terrible if you've got oily fingers or maybe you just have a lot of smudges on it you see it over time and it definitely can look pretty poor at times but you can just wipe that off with a cloth and it seems to fix that issue it's not really much of an issue for me it wipes off much easier than I thought it would it's not really much of an issue if you're bothered by that again put a case on it maybe put a screen protector as I do have some scratches here as well and I'm not sure why but I have a scratch right around this widget here I don't know if you can see it but in the right light sometimes you can see that scratch and so that scratch actually is on the display here there's another small one here and that's odd because I get that on every phone I have so I'm not sure exactly what that is I can't see it even in the regular light here when I bring it outside I can see it but you can actually feel it right here there's a little scratch right there so again like I said you can't really see it very easily in regular light but it's there and I noticed it the other day I'm not sure what causes it but again if you're concerned about that definitely put a screen protector on it it's the same glass we had last year with ceramic Shield so if that held up well for you it should hold up the same as well the cameras this year I've been really impressed with every photo I've taken I've actually said wow that actually looks really good we have a 48 megapixel camera and 12 megapixel Ultra wide in telephoto now the telephoto is a five times optical zoom on the Promax only it looks pretty good I wouldn't say it's amazing but with the processing with it with the new ace 17 Pro pretty much any photo I take out of the regular camera looks great now if you have three times Zoom it's going to use the main camera instead of the optical camera so that might not be as good as it is on the pro phone I'll measure that in comparisons later on but in general the camera really impresses me especially with night photos they look much more natural they look great as you can see here and then of course it captures depth information on its own when it's taking portraits and they've done a much better this job this year actually tracing around hair and much more so photos and everything else look pretty great this year I'm not sure what the big difference is other than the processor but it seems to have made a very big difference also the video out of it is quite good I've been using the natural titanium version that I actually got to record many videos in fact my airpods Pro 2 USBC version unboxing was recorded with this phone completely with this connected to an external SSD in prores log so it recorded without a problem it actually looks great and the autofocus is incredible it's just spot on all the time much better than I've seen before we still do have that minimal Focus distance issue that we had with the 14 pro Max but that's just a limitation of the lens with that larger 48 megapixel sensor you can only get so close so I'm only about a hand width away and it's out of focus so you can turn on macro of course and that fixes that problem but it's definitely going to be an issue compared to the previous phones but it's not too much of an issue as you just back up a few more inches so in general you're going to have that same experience but you can switch to ultra wide and it fixes that problem without any issue so I don't have an issue with that I wish it did have a closer minimal Focus distance like the previous phones but it's not a big enough issue that it's something that I can't use the phones over I can just switch to macro mode if I need to but the video and everything else I've been very impressed so far and that's due to that new processor and now before we talk about speed and things like that let's talk about battery life a lot of people have been wondering and it has about a 4000 422 milliamp hour battery Apple says to expect the same battery life that you get with the 14 pro max phones and I can say that that's pretty much true maybe a little bit better since my battery health has improved but if we go into settings of course they've added some new features this year if we go to General and then about and something they've added with the 15 series phones is the cycle count and manufacture date and first use of the battery the cycle count is great information if you want to know how long your battery should probably last Apple says to expect 80 battery health after 500 Cycles so once it's cycled to 500 you should be close to about 80 percent it's great to have this information there's no reason they can't bring it to older phones though with maybe a future software update additionally battery life in general well there's some things to help that that they've added of course under battery health and charging if we go to charging optimization many of you are already aware that this is an 80 limit this is going to be helpful for those that really want to monitor their phone I'll leave it on optimized battery charging I typically put it on charger at night take it off during the day I've done that since the original iPhone and had no issues with it whatsoever however the 14 Promax seemed to degrade pretty quickly but I think that's due to either the software I'm running using a lot of power or something along those lines but if you really want to monitor this just set it to 80 limit and it will stick there but you'll get less battery life of course now as far as the battery life overall throughout the day it is a little bit better than my 14 pro Max however I've been having some issues and I'm not sure if it's the software early on or what it is but you'll see I'm using Safari 24 of the time and I don't even know why if I go into Safari I don't have anything open if I go to private there's nothing there I deleted my profiles and can't figure out why it just keeps using a power so I'm not sure if it's syncing something in the background it's hard to say I also deleted some apps that seem to have helped tremendously but the most I've gotten out of it is 6 hours and 16 minutes so far this is a couple hours better than I got with my 14 pro Max but I didn't delete the same apps or anything on that device yet so I'd say it's pretty close to what you get with a 14 pro Max maybe a half hour more depending on how you're using it but in general it seems to be okay and for those wondering the actual battery capacity here's coconut battery it's a Mac app you get outside of the App Store and it shows you the capacity of the battery the physical capacity that's different than what some people say it is as far as tear Downs go so that gives you an idea when it comes to charging I've actually not noticed any issues with the exception of one thing if I plug this into my car it's fine but if I use the wireless charger it will get the phone very very hot and it will stop stop charging that's something I saw with previous phones the 14 pro Max does it the 12 will do it it just gets really hot in that car for some reason but if I use mag safe it's fine if I use the USBC cable it's fine all of that seems to be fine and people are really concerned about the phone overheating so I tried out a few different things I placed a 13-minute call yesterday to Apple for an issue I was having no issues whatsoever with that it didn't even get warmer than it is right now just holding it I also recorded one hour of 4K 60 prores log and had this plugged into a dock also it was plugged into an external monitor through that Dock and charging with a 60 watt MacBook charger additionally it was plugged into an SSD all of that at the same time I recorded one hour of footage as you can see here and then I just stopped it at that point that's more than enough footage the phone was definitely warm the SSD was very hot but the phone was warm but I still could touch it it wasn't so hot that you couldn't touch it and that's what I'm seeing from a lot of people that are having this overheat issue not once have I had that overheat message and also I tried playing some games the other day I played some games yesterday you can see that I played Call of Duty mobile pubg mobile as well as I tried to engine impact just a little little bit and so it was about 35 to 40 minutes total of gaming I actually had it plugged in and charging at one point and it really had no issues whatsoever yes it was getting warm but it was not too hot to touch it's going to get warm when it's pushing that much power and charging at the same time it was definitely warm to the touch but not hot to the touch that was the difference the people that are having overheat issues are saying it's very hot I had no problems holding it in my hand while playing the game so it does get warm but it wasn't so hot that it was a problem in fact I've found that it gets about three degrees hotter than other devices that I've used and you can see that right now I have a little thermometer here under the heat sensor it's 85.5 degrees Fahrenheit around the processor or 88.5 or 31.4 degrees Celsius so it's warm but it's not hot at all that's actually pretty typical ambient temperature especially when holding onto the phone now titanium definitely could be a problem not getting the heat out it insulates a little bit more it doesn't transfer heat as well same with glass so they're using the glass with some thermal compound or graphite on the front it seems like in the teardowns I've seen to help dissipate some of that heat that could be an issue but if you're in warmer climates that could be a different issue I'm in about 73 degrees Fahrenheit ambient temperatures most of the time when testing so that may make a difference of course if you're in a 100 degree Fahrenheit environment that's going to make a huge difference so I'd like for Apple to address it at least a little bit but I haven't experienced it and I haven't experienced on any device so the 15 Pro Max I have here this 15 Pro Max my 15 Pro no issues whatsoever so I'm not sure why some people are having it I have the USA version without the the actual SIM card in it I haven't figured out why I haven't been able to replicate what other people are experiencing also for another Quick Heat test let's go ahead and run geekbench 6 see what we get we'll give it a few minutes to run and then we'll check the actual temperature of the phone geekbench is still running we're over halfway through and as we move the thermal camera over you'll see we're at 103 degrees Fahrenheit so it's a little bit warm now this is about three degrees warmer than I got from the 14 pro Max when testing the same thing we're at 104 degrees Fahrenheit 105. if we flip this over let's see if the back is any different so on the back we'll go to the same area the back is at about 103 degrees was the highest I saw there so the front is where it's letting some of that heat out again it is warm but we're not sure what Apple's thermal limits are as well so as you can see here it went down a little bit so it's still running geekbench but this gives you an idea of the overall temperature like I said I find that it's about three degrees warmer than the 14 pro Max in my test so 101 degrees still you can pick that up at 101 degrees it's warm but it's not so hot you can't touch it by any means so I don't know what their thermal limits are but it seems to be within that as we're not getting the overheat message again in the hottest area we're at 104 right there now as far as the display this year the display is the same as last year for the most part it's super bright 2 000 nits outside 1600 nits playing HDR video great viewing angles it doesn't really have pwm it seems to be the exact same rate as last year at about 480 Hertz and shouldn't bother your eyes so pwm definitely shouldn't be a factor this year just like it wasn't on the 14 pro Max the 15s the regular version it definitely has it the 15 Pros don't seem to have much of that at all Apple's new three nanometer a17 Pro processor seems to be super fast for everyday tasks but really not faster that you'll notice it from the 14 pro max if you're just doing regular tasks opening weather opening email going into music playing a song swiping around maybe scrolling through a library everything's smooth with promotion and everything else you're not going to notice a difference there but where you are going to notice the biggest difference is where I mentioned before take a photo it looks phenomenal the portrait modes look great it's calculating all of that information on the fly in real time and it does an incredible job with that Additionally you have more GPU overhead meaning you can play AAA games such as well that's coming later Resident Evil 4 Assassin's Creed those games are actually coming to this device you'll be able to play it plugged into a monitor through USBC if you want to and you have the full game here so that's a big difference it definitely is a big step up as far as that goes but if you're just using it day to day not playing games well you're not going to notice much of a difference at all we have eight gigs of RAM so that should help with games and things like that but in general I don't think most people are going to notice much of a difference as far as that goes it seems nice and fast because of that but with regular tasks there's not much of a change as far as the overall connectivity I did notice a difference there's a new 5G modem here and I noticed that I never seem to lose connections where I used to so there's definitely a difference with that if I turn off my Wi-Fi here give it a second to connect you'll see I have two bars of T-Mobile 5G even if I have one bar I've had no issues driving through areas where I have very low signals sometimes I'll play a song and it will just stop I haven't really had that with this phone so there's an improvement here for sure I'm not exactly sure what the change is as far as that goes but it seems to stay connected and have less issues this time around than I did with the 14 pro Max now as far as the speakers go they're pretty impressive I don't know if they made an upgrade here but when I was playing games the other night with Call of Duty and pubg I was impressed by the speakers and I can have you hear those with one of my YouTube videos so here's my iPhone 14 Pro versus 12 pro video let me turn up the speakers here foreign so I think it sounds pretty good and there was a little stutter there so again it's going to seem very familiar with the 14 pro Max but in general it sounds great I was impressed I'm typically not impressed with speakers on phones that much my 14 pro Max speakers sound terrible after a year I've talked about that in a different video These sound really good and they're clear even at the highest volume so I don't know if they've done any work there but it definitely sounds a little different that way if I had to say there's a few negatives about it well the negatives really would be it's a little bit slippery as I mentioned before that can be fixed with a case or a skin it's also quite expensive of course iPhones typically are but you're around twelve hundred dollars up to sixteen hundred dollars in the US and even more throughout the world and also it could break easier based on what we're seeing and of course those overheat issues some people are experiencing are still unknown so if you're nervous about any of that and you're wondering if you should buy an iPhone 15 Pro Max I would wait maybe a month or two and see what happens usually the early manufacturer sure iPhones have some differences with them than the later ones where they refine things or maybe they fixed the manufacturing process or something else typically Apple will fix those things quickly if there is an issue but either way there's really not any issues I've had but it seems depending on where you live and which phone you get that could vary but again I've had no problems I think it's a great experience so far I'll work on improving my battery life figuring out what's going on with Safari that could just be a bug but let me know your experience so far with the 15 Pro or 15 Pro max if you've picked one up or if you're planning to pick one up what's your favorite color let me know in the comments below I'll link this wallpaper in the description like I normally do and if you haven't subscribed already please subscribe and if you enjoyed the video please give it a like as always thanks for watching this is Aaron I'll see you next timehi everyone Aaron here for zollotech and the iPhone 15 Pro Max has been out a week at this point I've been using it full something I saw with previous phones the 14 pro Max does it the 12 will do it it just gets really hot in that car for some reason but if I use mag safe it's fine if I use the USBC cable it's fine all of that seems to be fine and people are really concerned about the phone overheating so I tried out a few different things I placed a 13-minute call yesterday to Apple for an issue I was having no issues whatsoever with that it didn't even get warmer than it is right now just holding it I also recorded one hour of 4K 60 prores log and had this plugged into a dock also it was plugged into an external monitor through that Dock and charging with a 60 watt MacBook charger additionally it was plugged into an SSD all of that at the same time I recorded one hour of footage as you can see here and then I just stopped it at that point that's more than enough footage the phone was definitely warm the SSD was very hot but the phone was warm but I still could touch it it wasn't so hot that you couldn't touch it and that's what I'm seeing from a lot of people that are having this overheat issue not once have I had that overheat message and also I tried playing some games the other day I played some games yesterday you can see that I played Call of Duty mobile pubg mobile as well as I tried to engine impact just a little little bit and so it was about 35 to 40 minutes total of gaming I actually had it plugged in and charging at one point and it really had no issues whatsoever yes it was getting warm but it was not too hot to touch it's going to get warm when it's pushing that much power and charging at the same time it was definitely warm to the touch but not hot to the touch that was the difference the people that are having overheat issues are saying it's very hot I had no problems holding it in my hand while playing the game so it does get warm but it wasn't so hot that it was a problem in fact I've found that it gets about three degrees hotter than other devices that I've used and you can see that right now I have a little thermometer here under the heat sensor it's 85.5 degrees Fahrenheit around the processor or 88.5 or 31.4 degrees Celsius so it's warm but it's not hot at all that's actually pretty typical ambient temperature especially when holding onto the phone now titanium definitely could be a problem not getting the heat out it insulates a little bit more it doesn't transfer heat as well same with glass so they're using the glass with some thermal compound or graphite on the front it seems like in the teardowns I've seen to help dissipate some of that heat that could be an issue but if you're in warmer climates that could be a different issue I'm in about 73 degrees Fahrenheit ambient temperatures most of the time when testing so that may make a difference of course if you're in a 100 degree Fahrenheit environment that's going to make a huge difference so I'd like for Apple to address it at least a little bit but I haven't experienced it and I haven't experienced on any device so the 15 Pro Max I have here this 15 Pro Max my 15 Pro no issues whatsoever so I'm not sure why some people are having it I have the USA version without the the actual SIM card in it I haven't figured out why I haven't been able to replicate what other people are experiencing also for another Quick Heat test let's go ahead and run geekbench 6 see what we get we'll give it a few minutes to run and then we'll check the actual temperature of the phone geekbench is still running we're over halfway through and as we move the thermal camera over you'll see we're at 103 degrees Fahrenheit so it's a little bit warm now this is about three degrees warmer than I got from the 14 pro Max when testing the same thing we're at 104 degrees Fahrenheit 105. if we flip this over let's see if the back is any different so on the back we'll go to the same area the back is at about 103 degrees was the highest I saw there so the front is where it's letting some of that heat out again it is warm but we're not sure what Apple's thermal limits are as well so as you can see here it went down a little bit so it's still running geekbench but this gives you an idea of the overall temperature like I said I find that it's about three degrees warmer than the 14 pro Max in my test so 101 degrees still you can pick that up at 101 degrees it's warm but it's not so hot you can't touch it by any means so I don't know what their thermal limits are but it seems to be within that as we're not getting the overheat message again in the hottest area we're at 104 right there now as far as the display this year the display is the same as last year for the most part it's super bright 2 000 nits outside 1600 nits playing HDR video great viewing angles it doesn't really have pwm it seems to be the exact same rate as last year at about 480 Hertz and shouldn't bother your eyes so pwm definitely shouldn't be a factor this year just like it wasn't on the 14 pro Max the 15s the regular version it definitely has it the 15 Pros don't seem to have much of that at all Apple's new three nanometer a17 Pro processor seems to be super fast for everyday tasks but really not faster that you'll notice it from the 14 pro max if you're just doing regular tasks opening weather opening email going into music playing a song swiping around maybe scrolling through a library everything's smooth with promotion and everything else you're not going to notice a difference there but where you are going to notice the biggest difference is where I mentioned before take a photo it looks phenomenal the portrait modes look great it's calculating all of that information on the fly in real time and it does an incredible job with that Additionally you have more GPU overhead meaning you can play AAA games such as well that's coming later Resident Evil 4 Assassin's Creed those games are actually coming to this device you'll be able to play it plugged into a monitor through USBC if you want to and you have the full game here so that's a big difference it definitely is a big step up as far as that goes but if you're just using it day to day not playing games well you're not going to notice much of a difference at all we have eight gigs of RAM so that should help with games and things like that but in general I don't think most people are going to notice much of a difference as far as that goes it seems nice and fast because of that but with regular tasks there's not much of a change as far as the overall connectivity I did notice a difference there's a new 5G modem here and I noticed that I never seem to lose connections where I used to so there's definitely a difference with that if I turn off my Wi-Fi here give it a second to connect you'll see I have two bars of T-Mobile 5G even if I have one bar I've had no issues driving through areas where I have very low signals sometimes I'll play a song and it will just stop I haven't really had that with this phone so there's an improvement here for sure I'm not exactly sure what the change is as far as that goes but it seems to stay connected and have less issues this time around than I did with the 14 pro Max now as far as the speakers go they're pretty impressive I don't know if they made an upgrade here but when I was playing games the other night with Call of Duty and pubg I was impressed by the speakers and I can have you hear those with one of my YouTube videos so here's my iPhone 14 Pro versus 12 pro video let me turn up the speakers here foreign so I think it sounds pretty good and there was a little stutter there so again it's going to seem very familiar with the 14 pro Max but in general it sounds great I was impressed I'm typically not impressed with speakers on phones that much my 14 pro Max speakers sound terrible after a year I've talked about that in a different video These sound really good and they're clear even at the highest volume so I don't know if they've done any work there but it definitely sounds a little different that way if I had to say there's a few negatives about it well the negatives really would be it's a little bit slippery as I mentioned before that can be fixed with a case or a skin it's also quite expensive of course iPhones typically are but you're around twelve hundred dollars up to sixteen hundred dollars in the US and even more throughout the world and also it could break easier based on what we're seeing and of course those overheat issues some people are experiencing are still unknown so if you're nervous about any of that and you're wondering if you should buy an iPhone 15 Pro Max I would wait maybe a month or two and see what happens usually the early manufacturer sure iPhones have some differences with them than the later ones where they refine things or maybe they fixed the manufacturing process or something else typically Apple will fix those things quickly if there is an issue but either way there's really not any issues I've had but it seems depending on where you live and which phone you get that could vary but again I've had no problems I think it's a great experience so far I'll work on improving my battery life figuring out what's going on with Safari that could just be a bug but let me know your experience so far with the 15 Pro or 15 Pro max if you've picked one up or if you're planning to pick one up what's your favorite color let me know in the comments below I'll link this wallpaper in the description like I normally do and if you haven't subscribed already please subscribe and if
