Asus Transformer Pad Infinity Hands On (TF700)

Unboxing and First Impressions: ASUS Transformer Pad Infiniti

What's up everyone, this is Todd Hazelton with techno Buffalo today we're checking out the ASUS Transformer Pad Infiniti. We'll start by taking a look at the tablet itself. It's nearly indistinguishable from the Transformer Prime, but let's take a closer look to see what differences there are. The main difference you can see here is this plastic bar that Asus has added to make sure the GPS chip works properly. This time around, there were issues with the Transformer Prime inside the box, and we've got scream white pad.

We should probably use that already charging cables and nothing else documents are in this little packet here information about assus tablets warranty card and the user manual. Let's compare it real quick to the Transformer Prime. We have them both here, so let me show you which one is which. You can see the new Pad Infinity on the bottom, and the headphones jack has been moved there. There's also an HDMI port and micro SD card slots that are in similar places.

As you can see, the actual HDMI outs have been swapped around, and the volume controls have been moved from the side to the top of the tablet. The power button has also changed slightly, making it easier to tap. Nothing is on the right side of the tablet this time, unlike the Transformer Prime. The bottom is the same, but that's where you'd find the 3.5 mm headphone jack previously.

Let's take a look at how the Pad Dock works. If you haven't seen it yet, it snaps in like so and becomes sort of like a little notebook. It also doubles as a charger for the tablet itself, adding up to six hours of battery life. The dock includes a single USB port, a full SD card slot, and of course, the charging port down over here.

Booting Up the Tablet: A Closer Look at Performance

We've got the tablet booted up, and it's foggy in New York that's why it's a little dark in my apartment. I have these lights going, so you can pretty much see the screens are really similar. However, this is a lot sharper than the Transformer Prime. It's a 1920x 1200 pixel resolution, which makes it look great on the desktop.

However, even on the desktop, it's kind of hard to see any changes between the two tablets. Once you start opening up games, you can really notice that things start to get a lot more crisp again. The Transformer Pad Infiniti is powered by Tegra 3, which means you get bonus graphic boosts inside games. Let's take a look at how this affects gameplay.

Playing GTA 3: A Great Example of the Tablet's Performance

Now we're playing GTA 3, and I have to say, the graphics are awesome. The tablet looks really great on screen, and it's clear that the Tegra 3 processor is handling everything smoothly. I had a lot of fun playing this game, and it's definitely one of the highlights of the Transformer Pad Infiniti.

I also played Shadow Gun during my tests, and T-Bone into to truck. The tablet performed well in all of these games, showing that it's a great device for gaming. Whether you're playing games like GTA 3 or just browsing the web, the Transformer Pad Infiniti is sure to impress.

Camera Upgrades: A Better Display Camera Experience

There are also improvements here to the 8 megapixel camera on the back of the tablet. It has a f2.2 aperture and a single LED flash, which makes it clear that Asus has put some thought into its design. The front-facing camera is now a 2 megapixel camera capable of HD video chat, which is a great upgrade over the 1.3 megapixel camera on the Transformer Prime.

Whether you're taking photos or just using the camera for video chat, the Transformer Pad Infiniti has a much better display camera experience than its predecessor. This makes it a great choice for anyone looking for a tablet with high-quality cameras.

Is the Upgrade Worth It? A Decision to Make

I'm not so sure that this upgrade is worth it if you already own the original Prime. The Transformer Pad Infiniti is a great device, but it's also an expensive one. If you're happy with your current tablet and don't need any of the upgrades that the Infiniti offers, then there may be no reason to buy.

However, if you want the latest and greatest technology, or if you're looking for a better display camera experience, then the Transformer Pad Infiniti is definitely worth considering. It's just something to keep in mind when making your decision.
