Welcome to My Channel: A Note from Brooke
Hello guys, welcome back to my channel. If you're new here, welcome! I'm Brooke, and I make lifestyle videos. In today's video, I'm excited to share with you my favorite snickerdoodle recipe. Snickerdoodles are my favorite cookie overall, and this is my go-to recipe that I've been making for over 15 years. I'm really excited to share it with you guys, and I'm confident that once you try them, you'll love them just as much as I do.
Getting Started
To start, I preheated the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Now, let's take a look at the list of ingredients we need for this recipe. You'll need one cup of butter, one and a half cups of sugar, two eggs, one teaspoon of vanilla, one teaspoon of cream of tartar, and half a teaspoon of salt. Additionally, we'll need 2 2/3 cups of flour for the cookies. We'll also be making a cinnamon sugar mixture using two tablespoons of sugar and two tablespoons of cinnamon.
Preparing the Cookie Dough
Now that we have our ingredients, let's start by melting two sticks of butter in a glass dish in the microwave. Once melted, I pour it into my mixing bowl to ensure everything is combined. Next, I add one and a half cups of sugar and mix until well combined. Now, it's time to add the remaining ingredients: a teaspoon of Mexican vanilla, two eggs, half a teaspoon of salt, and one teaspoon of cream of tartar. Our cookie dough is now complete.
Creating the Cinnamon Sugar Mixture
With our cookie dough ready, let's move on to making the cinnamon sugar mixture. Simply mix together two tablespoons of sugar and two tablespoons of cinnamon in a small bowl. I had to add a bit more sugar because some of the cinnamon fell out while I was measuring, but now we're ready to rock and roll with cookie preparation.
Scooping and Rolling the Cookies
To make our snickerdoodles, we'll need to scoop the cookie dough into balls and then roll them in the cinnamon sugar mixture. To avoid washing my hands repeatedly, I like to pre-scoop all of the cookies and then roll them in cinnamon at once. For this recipe, I'm using a custom art cookie scoop that I recently purchased on Amazon, as well as baking mats from Costco and stone baking sheets from Pampered Chef.
Assembling the Cookies
With our cookie dough scooped and cinnamon sugar mixture ready, it's time to assemble our snickerdoodles. Simply roll each ball of dough into a circle and then coat it completely in the cinnamon sugar mixture. Some people only sprinkle the cinnamon sugar on top, but I promise you that rolling them in will make all the difference.
Baking the Cookies
With our cookies assembled, it's time to bake them. I'm using my oven at 350 degrees Fahrenheit, and I've found that baking them for 12 minutes yields perfect results. Once the timer goes off, I remove the cookies from the oven and let them cool on the hot tray for about five to eight minutes before transferring them to a cooling rack.
Cooling and Setting
To ensure our snickerdoodles are soft and moist, they require a bit of time to cool and set. After baking, I leave them on the hot tray for about five to eight minutes, then transfer them to a cooling rack where I let them cool for between 15 and 20 minutes before transferring them to any tray.
Tasting Time
The moment we've all been waiting for – taste test time! With our snickerdoodles finally done and cooled, it's time to indulge in their deliciousness. These cookies are truly amazing, with a thick and cakey texture that's just divine. I honestly don't even like cookies that much, but these have won me over.
