The iPad 2: A Tale of Two Colors
What's up YouTube, this is Detroit Borg, and I'm excited to address one of the most frequently asked questions I've had lately about the iPad 2. Many of you have been wondering which color to choose between the black and white iPads, or which one do I prefer? In this video, I'll be sharing my thoughts on both colors and trying to answer some of those questions.
First, let's talk about the design aspect of the iPad 2. When it comes to design, the black iPad automatically wins the award for seamless design and overall design continuity. It's a single sheet of black glass that perfectly hides the boundaries between the display and bezel, as well as the cutouts for the camera and ambient light sensor. This seamless design is also reflected in the matching black plastic buttons and Apple logo, which blend seamlessly with the iPad's overall aesthetic. The black iPad really does look like it was designed to be black from the start.
On the other hand, the white iPad has a slightly different story. When viewed in 360°, especially when the screen is off, the white iPad looks like an afterthought. This is largely due to the fact that the buttons, Apple logo, and 3G window at the top are still black plastic, adding a third color to the mix alongside the aluminum. While this may not be the end of the world, it does detract from the overall visual elegance of the edge-to-edge glass display. However, when in sleep mode, the white bezel does its job, highlighting the color and contrast of the display and making it look more vibrant.
One thing that's worth noting is that the black bezel tends to bring attention to the contrast ratio, making blacks appear brighter and more washed out. This can be a bit jarring for some viewers. On the other hand, the white bezel does an excellent job hiding those issues, reducing visible glare and distracting reflections. Additionally, the white bezel is less likely to heat up when used in sunlight, which can be a major problem for some devices.
I've often found myself taking my iPad outdoors, and unfortunately, the gen one iPad would frequently overheat and shut down in the sun, making it unusable. However, with the white bezel, this issue seems to have disappeared. This makes the white iPad an excellent choice for outdoor use, and I'd argue that it's the better option overall.
In conclusion, while both colors have their merits, I firmly believe that the white iPad is unique, attractive, and functionally superior to the black iPad. The white bezel does a great job of highlighting the color and contrast of the display, reducing glare and distractions, and mitigating overheating issues when used in sunlight. So, if you're deciding between the two colors, I'd wholeheartedly recommend going with the white iPad.
So, what do you guys think? Do you like the white or black iPad, and why? Let me know in the comment section below!

prefer well I hope to answer some of those questions in this video first I have to admit that the black iPad is the more seamless design it's a single sheet of black glass and it hides the boundaries between the display and bezel as well as the cutouts for the camera and the ambient light sensor in addition the black matches the black plastic buttons and the Apple logo as well as that that big plastic bar at the top for the 3G version so from a design perspective the black iPad automatically wins the award for seamless design and overall design continuity the iPad 2 really looks like it was designed to be black in the first place now the white iPad especially when the screen is off looks looks like an afterthought when viewed in 360° once again the buttons Apple logo and 3G window at the top are still black plastic adding a third color to the mix in addition to the aluminum also when in sleep mode the white bezel detracts from the visual Elegance of the edge to edge glass however thanks to the edgo edge glass with that dramatically tapered Edge really the only thing you see when you look at the white iPad is the white bezel you don't see the black plastic buttons and you barely see that 3G bar at the top the Vivid White color of the frame does a great job highlighting the color and contrast of the display the display just looks more vibrant next to the white bezel the black bezel tends to bring attention to the contrast racio so blacks look brighter and more washed out I've also noticed there is less visible glare and distracting reflections with the white bezel essentially the white color does a good job hiding those issues another functional factor that might benefit the white iPad is the fact that the white bezel is less likely to heat up when used in sunlight I often like to take my iPad outdoors and when I'm in the Sun the gen one iPad would often overheat and shut down making it entirely useless however with a white bezel to mitigate glare and overheating this might be the best iPad for outdoor use in the end I think you could argue the case for either color uh but for me the wi iPad is unique attractive and functionally superior to the black iPad so for that I can wholeheartedly recommend the white iPad so what do you guys think do you like the white or black iPad and why let me know in the comment section below so once again guys
