CRAZY VALUES! The SLS AMG Black Series is Now a $1m Car and THIS is Why

**A Journey Through Switzerland and Italy with the Mercedes-Benz SLS**

As we embark on our journey to depart from sitting alongside the Apollo lunar module, it's clear that this trip is going to be an exciting one. The Apollo lunar module is just a replica of what the astronauts use to get away from the moon back towards earth, and as we explore Switzerland, it's fascinating to think about how far humans have come in space exploration.

As we make our way through the Swiss countryside, we find ourselves surrounded by breathtaking views and stunning roads that wind their way through the mountains. The highway motorway cruise is a true delight, with the sound of cameras clicking away as we zip past them through tunnels and out of them again. This isn't just any ordinary drive; it's a chance to experience the thrill of driving a modern, track-focused car like the Mercedes-Benz SLS.

This car is a marvel of engineering, with its sleek design and powerful engine that can go from 0-60 in just seconds. But what really sets it apart is its ability to balance speed and practicality. Unlike many other high-performance cars on the market, the SLS is designed to be both fun to drive and easy to live with. Whether you're cruising down the highway at 100 km/h or pushing the car to its limits on a twisty mountain road, the SLS delivers an exhilarating driving experience that's hard to match.

As we continue our journey through Switzerland, we find ourselves approaching Italy, a country known for its stunning landscapes and rich history. It's almost like déjà vu as we make our way back through the same roads we took earlier in the day, but this time with the added bonus of being able to take in the breathtaking views of Lake Como.

After a long morning of driving, we pull into a cozy little garage in Milan, where we can finally get some fuel and rest our feet. The SLS has managed an impressive 600 kilometers on one tank, which is no small feat. As we refuel and prepare to continue our journey, it's clear that this car is designed for the open road.

As we make our way back into Italy, we're greeted with a thrilling tunnel run that puts the SLS through its paces. With the telepath pass device allowing us to bypass the queue, we can accelerate with ease and take full advantage of the car's incredible performance capabilities. It's truly exhilarating, and a testament to the engineering prowess of Mercedes-Benz.

But it's not all about speed; there are moments like this tunnel run that remind us why the SLS is such an iconic and desirable car. The sound of its engine, the feel of its responsive handling – it's all just so wonderfully engaging. And yet, despite its many talents, the SLS still retains a certain level of practicality that makes it easy to live with on a daily basis.

As we make our way into the heart of Milan, we find ourselves in an underground garage, a far cry from the bright lights and bustling streets above. It's not the most glamorous of surroundings, but for now, it's home for our SLS. And as we prepare to continue our journey, we're left with mixed emotions about the car's one major drawback: its tendency to fog up the headlights due to its high engine temperature.

It's a small price to pay, however, given the many joys of driving this incredible machine. Whether you're a seasoned collector or just a fan of performance cars, the SLS is sure to captivate and inspire. And as we prepare to bid farewell to our hosts in Milan, it's clear that this car has left an indelible mark on our journey so far.

**A Final Farewell**

After 12 hours of driving through Switzerland and Italy, we're feeling rather tired but also utterly exhilarated by the experience. From the breathtaking views of the Swiss countryside to the thrilling tunnel runs in Italy, every moment behind the wheel of the Mercedes-Benz SLS has been an absolute joy.

As we prepare to leave our hosts and continue on our journey, it's hard not to feel a sense of sadness that this incredible car is coming to an end for us. But at the same time, we're grateful for the opportunity to experience its many talents and to take home some unforgettable memories from our adventure.

So as we say goodbye to our hosts in Milan, we do so with huge appreciation for their hospitality and a deep respect for the SLS. It's been an absolute pleasure to drive this incredible car, and we can't wait to see what other adventures await us on the road ahead.

"WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: enhi guys i'm schmee hello good morning and welcome back to the channel where today i want to talk sls black series this car is now potentially a million dollar car and i want to talk about why that is having just picked it up from having a complete overhaul of avant-garde immediately we've embarked on a road trip you join us here on a lovely morning in strasbourg in france having had a lap of the nurburgring on the way here and now making our way today all the way through switzerland to italy to milano to milan tonight with a pretty exciting stop on the way for me personally now if you've been following my channel for a while you've probably noticed i am often wearing a swatch watch in particular the recent moon swatches and today we're going to visit swatch hq where they actually have the swatch drive-through we're taking the sls black series through a drive-through and no it is not mcdonald's it is to buy some swatches as you do so we've got a long drive it's going to be about seven or eight hours on the road as we make our way with the sls black series properly running in all of the new upgrades that we've had towards italy and talk about what makes it quite so special i tell you what the car is looking lovely parked under the trees here with the mystic blue after a fantastic stay here at the sofa talent strasbourg in fact the last time i stayed here i had my ff parked right there about seven or eight years ago the start of the blue crew and we're back again with another very blue shmemobile now we'll get to the different markets and discrepancies between pricing because it's quite an interesting topic a little bit later on obviously the sls is an icon the sls itself is an icon they had the race version which was immensely successful in gt3 and different race classes around the world it has this wonderful engine 6.2 liter naturally aspirated v8 we have the gullwing doors that open upwards which make it even more special and for today's purposes the fact that it's a left-hand drive car means it will actually work at a drive-through that is a bit of a problem when i venture across europe in a right-hand drive car and need to lean out the window for garage parking tickets or pressing buzzers or whatever it might be but the thing looks superb and i guess it's ready for us to get started and get this journey underway because i'm looking forward to going to find some more swatches today that is the plan so let's get on the road when it comes to this car one of the things i love about it are the doors the gull wing doors opening upwards they only need about that much space to the side of the car so they're actually easier to get in and out of than typical doors and then you have this big aperture that you kind of just fall through you fall into nice and easily into the bucket seats kind of like that now some people attach a dorple grab pull some string or something to the handle here just to make pulling down the gull wings a little bit easier i don't really have a problem with it though so nice and easy close those down slide the bucket seat forward i love these seats and look at this we've got 33 305 kilometers on the odo so in another 28 kilometers we will have the five threes let's get it started because there is one thing we actually need to work on very quickly with this yesterday let's turn the radio down we were at the nurburgring now having been at the nurburgring means we deflated the tires a little bit and they are still a bit deflated and obviously they have now cooled down so we need to go somewhere to get those re-inflated i need to find a petrol station somewhere along the way and obviously there's a lot to touch on today but in the amg performance screens see everything's cold at the moment where we are go through power i think it's all just waking up a touch tires it doesn't yet give us the data but as soon as we start driving that shall fill in and tell us exactly what we need to know this is a lovely little town city with some very narrow roads and garages in fact i'm going to set off this way and within a minute or two you'll well less than a minute or two you'll see exactly what i'm talking about first corner here first corner i have to take it very very wide to not catch a wheel somewhere but we are good it is a beautiful day door's auto locking and i'm actually really looking forward to where we're going having been a bit of a swatch collector in recent years to go to the home of swatch it's quite a cool opportunity i'm not sure what this guy is doing oh he's parking okay it's going to say that's not making life easy for us as we kind of escape around the block along the water here this is a very very pretty place look at that view wow lovely start to the morning lovely lovely start it's a shame we're on the auto routes the french motorways within a minute or two because this is very pretty should be here for longer like i said the last time i actually came here on camera was years and years and years ago with my ff i had just bought the ff and we were heading down towards monza we're actually heading to auto salon zing and to take delivery of my 675lt coupe that had been transported out from the uk we had driven out with the ff with all of the luggage with the plan to drive the two together through the mountains down towards monza and that was an amazing trip fantastic memories and now we're here in the sls just working out exactly where to go it's about three hours from here to beale which is the home of swatch group where they have this drive through it's quite an unusual concept you drive through and buy your watch but they also have some special packaging and unique watches that you can only buy there facts watch do that often with watches you can only buy in different shops part of the collection and part of the things i've been sharing on the swatch 150 channel that you might have seen already if you haven't do go check it out and subscribe and you'll see plenty more about the watches that i currently own and things that i might be buying in the future also but there are a few that i have kind of earmarked that i want to pick up today so that's the intention uh when we get there nothing like inflating your tyres on a warm morning get this on here then run all the way around to the other side to go and uh actually get it running right all done all back up to proper pressures let's get out the way because we've got quite a queue now there's a car right behind and there's a bike always stressful when those kind of things will happen at the same time that's done recharge station here if somebody wants 175 kilowatts not bad not bad i think the guy behind was a little bit thinking that we were just blocking the space not realizing that i actually wanted to put some air in there anyways on we go with our drive welcome to beautifully sunny switzerland we have crossed the border out from france we are now cruising on the highways we have some amazing scenery there are some lovely roads switzerland is a wonderful country to come and visit although when it comes to roads and driving the thing i am going to just add is that you really have to truly watch your speed driving in switzerland there is basically a no tolerance policy you cannot go even a kilometer an hour over the speed limit so on a motorway like this where the limit is 120 kilometers per hour with any car rc they have to slightly over read and that means in this car we can do about 123 to be exactly 120 and just cruise and take it easy through the country now considering it's a country with amazing roads and lots of mountain passes it is also a country with some fabulous car collections so many exceptional cars are located in this country the bugatti level noir numerous of every different hypercar you can think of bugattis 177s all of the koenigseggs paganis you name it so many nice cars which i think is a nice segue into talking about the world of cars as investments about the sls black series in some regions now being a one million dollar car which is utterly crazy obviously the whole world has seen an uptake in these kind of cars the limited edition cars that are no longer in production that you can't really get anymore cars with big naturally aspirated engines with design features that can't really be done now that have sound tracks you can't replicate anymore it's just simply not possible obviously that has affected a lot of things from not all that long ago the period of cars from maybe five to ten years ago has been really quite interesting cars that certainly appealed a lot to me things were a little bit further back the carrera gt the lexus lfa the sls black series a three that i talk about quite often if we rewind back though the sls was a huge car for mercedes-benz and for mercedes amg it was the first car that amg did in-house bringing back the gulwing doors that are so legendary from the 300 sl gull wing a car that featured effectively the last iteration of this 6.2 liter naturally aspirated v8 lump that we have up front although instead of being up on the front axle it's a front mid-mounted position in this car you bring all those factors together and it's something that's super appealing for this kind of purpose for driving on a grand tour the black series is genuinely really limited it's believed to be 350 cars they've never actually said officially what the exact number is that was suggested back at the original media drives i remember watching a video from chris harris when he drove it the first time i think in 2013 talking about there being 350 an exclusive car registry talks about 350 and we know that in the us mercedes-benz usa said there were 150 over there so the numbers all add up roughly to being about 350 cars if not exactly 350 and compared to so many others that's nothing there are 349 ferrari f-50s 399 ferrari enzos it's that level of rare whereas many cars of this segment certainly now you would expect to find almost well high hundreds if not thousands things like the gt black series there are going to be approximately 1 700 i believe things like the sto i think there are a couple of thousand of them things like even the ferrari 812 competizione there are 999 coupes 599 convertibles of purchase so just shy of 1 600 in total those numbers of rarity make 350 seem bonkers and it's not just 350 of a car with a different paint scheme like you'd often find from you know part spin special stuff it's not just small changes the car is significantly wider completely different suspension system heavily revised engine and powertrain side of things a completely different driving experience to the regular sls and it is very very very good for it it's a different car and that makes it truly special to me and that's why and i mentioned earlier about different regions having different pricing in the usa which has seen a huge boom in pricing for these kind of cars in recent years sls black series are now trading in some cases for over a million dollars over eight hundred thousand pounds worth now in the uk that kind of money you would really be talking a delivery mileage one of only the 15 or so original right-hand drive delivered cars uh to be at that price point a car like this that's done some miles the value is more in the memories the memories to me the journeys i've taken it on the trips i've done the places i've been that really adds and builds the story with the car and obviously having made it my own with the color nothing that i regret i bought a car that i was happy to go down this path with to not start with something that was a you know delivery mileage museum piece because i don't believe in doing that i believe in having a car that you're going to use that you're going to drive that you're going to do things with but even these numbers are double where the values for this was two and a half years ago they've doubled 100 return on investment effectively if sold now and that is one of the craziest things with all of this with the cars right now and are they ever going to settle back down again is a car like this ever going to go down i doubt it i honestly doubt it's one of the reasons why when the opportunity was there to buy this car even if at the time it felt really bad as the world quickly imploded it was february 2020 that i bought this just weeks before obviously everything was forced to close up shop i think we're never going to see those kind of prices again for things like this for things like the cgt's as much as i would love a carrera gt at some point in my life it's certainly going to be one that will bring a hefty price tag i mean they are what 1 100 car 1 300 cars it's over a thousand cars in total of the cgt's epic car epic car epic naturally aspirated engine from motorsport again it's cars that have these motor sport connections these genuine motorsport connections that seem to attract the biggest attention in terms of investment in terms of um potential in the future let's say if it's purely about that if that's the only purpose or the only reason of it obviously there's a lot more to it and one of the reasons i love this car is that there are a lot of people who know how to work on them the similarities with the other amg models like the w204 c63s and others that have this engine means that there are people out there who can work look at this view just quickly so we come through the valleys here we've only got about 40 or so kilometers to go for today's journey stunning what a place to be as we hop in and out of all of these tunnels because switzerland incredible infrastructure brilliant country as i said in so many ways except for driving freedom except for driving freedom so why is it a million dollar car effectively why am i saying that this is now a million dollar car and the future will be even more there are very few of them it was built for a purpose it to be the road version of the gt3 race car that's been very successful it was one of the last if not the last of this engine it's just something isn't really done anymore you don't get this package anymore you don't get something like this the manufacturers pull together they wouldn't do it for only 350 cars same as like the gt3 rs 4 liter of the 997 generation from porsche nobody would do this now nobody will do it again like this it's not the same certainly not of cars at this price point because now the really limited cars aren't the cars that were 250 000 pounds new they are the cars that were or are two and a half million pounds new it's a very very very very different thing anyway we are dipping in and out of all of these incredibly long tunnels but we're making some good progress thankfully we got the vignette when we crossed the border so that's all good stuck on the windscreen no issues there yeah 3.2 kilometers in this tunnel i could be noisy and drop some gears i'm going to save that until we're in italy later though because don't mess around in switzerland i've seen it too many times with different people getting in trouble just take it easy just cruise through and get to the other side we have made it we are here in bill this is the hometown of swatch and that on the corner is literally the swatch drive-through you can stay in your car open the window and buy a swatch as you drive through around it which is super fun um i'm going to actually park for the moment but i'm not leaving here without going through the drive through so we will pull in this way it's actually really cool it's literally like going to mcdonald's or a burger king or a starbucks or something like that um but if we take one of the parking spots here then we can come check it out in detail later before we do the drive through we've just parked up the car in the sunshine outside the shop for a moment there are a few people around out there but we're going for a little look around starting with this it is of course a car probably the only car that we will see right here but if you've been following the world of the moon swatches the amiga and swatch collaboration i've been wearing lots of them they are currently running 11 500 convertibles in each of the different colors all around the place with the watches including that famous briefcase on the back now within that would normally be the full set of 11 watches but in this one is a little bit of a twist there are the 11 colours of the 500s and as somebody who likes model cars that's really cool because they've even got little briefcases on the back of them the details it's all about the details of a swatch even here for example the badge on the front of this which is the mission to mars also has the amiga and swatch graphic on there as well so i was hoping i might be able to track one of these down i didn't think that it would happen right here that's a pretty good start for the day this is cool in the swatch museum this is cool if you like your swatches as i do this is pretty much as i've talked about on the swatch channel where it began for me collecting the destination swatches of which there are now about 80. i have this one this one this one this one this one quite a few of these as it happens and we also have a view down towards the car with the drive-through you can literally see the drive-through route around there but in here we've got all of the different collaborations and styles the bond series watches that they've made over the time just it goes on and on and on and on and on i also have a bit of an obsession with these the maxis if you want to know more about those you have to check out my watch channel we're back in the car because it is time to do something that i'm quite excited about we are going through the swatch blbn drive through where you literally pull up here like you are at a fast food restaurant in fact i don't know if you can see this completely clearly but we literally have the menu of watches some of the specific risk food ones that you can only buy here those six at the top you can only get at this location along with the destination special fresh from beale which i'm certainly getting a destination special and the morning boost the fried egg breakfast especially i'm gonna get that one and you've got some highlights and some top sellers as well but i'm certainly going to be picking those up so we'll do this and then go to the pay window time for us to go through if this feels wrong but so fun in the drive-through here in beale as we turn towards the window and we pull up here hello thank you very much wow check this out literally like fast food packaging oh this is cool this is really cool i'm just going to show you this quickly it's like a burger box that's actually really fun exclusive packaging that you can get here at the drive-through put that just there at the moment and then this one look at this fresh from beale let me open this quickly this is the specific one for this store now i really like these things i have a lot of them a big collection of them and i have now bought some from right here at the shop which is kind of the icing on the cake now let's uh carefully drive back around driving through was just for fun i mean you have to right you can't come here and not do that oh gosh right let me uh work out where we're gonna head next that building is impressive very impressive the day has flown by it has been as i said a bit of a personal indulgence to come here with the sls to beal to the home of swatch and amiga to visit the museums to drive through the drive-through and purchase some swatches as well something i've been wanting to do for quite a while but it's now time to get back on the road to continue our journey to depart from sitting alongside the apollo lunar module just there as well which is a replica of what the astronauts use to get away from the moon back towards earth obviously a bit of the story behind the speedmaster right there anyway into the sls let's get this journey continued one thing that switzerland does exceptionally well beautiful views stunning stunning roads through the mountains for this kind of highway motorway cruise basically just totally chilled out riding along cruise control going past cameras everywhere through the tunnels in and out of them and that's what i really like about this car modern track focused cars i say modern this isn't that old but more modern than this cars are very very stripped out for the purpose they're generally set up super aggressively very impractical and they lose this ability to just drive you know cruise on the highway sometimes when you don't want to be going absolutely flat out whereas in here it's just a wonderful thing it's just really nice to drive that sound in the background just everything about it everything about this is i don't know it's a wonderful wonderful dynamic gt car that's where it sits and does its job so very very very well speed limit constantly dips up and down between 100 and 120 you have to watch out for it so carefully just to make sure that you don't get it wrong don't do anything wrong but we've got a few hours onwards towards italy and then obviously continuing our journey to milan it is like deja vu the same as when we set off from strasbourg earlier this morning but it is now basically dark we've had a dinner stop we do need to go and get some fuel as well but on this tank we have done you can see here 600 kilometers oh failed there 600 kilometers on one fuel tank which is not bad going that's kind of cool rolling on in nicely parked okay let's go get some fuel into this and then the last hour or so from here to milan that's the plan we're now in italy and frustratingly we just had the most amazing little tunnel run that had the microphones off because i wanted to talk about how epic the exhaust sound is in this thing and in fact if i just go into manual i mean that's just fourth gear at 60 something kilometers per hour we've actually got the magic of the telepath pass device which lets us go straight through here without having to join the queue so give this the double blip this has to be twice here it's once on the french one twice on the italian one there we go and the second one magic pop that away drop the first gear and then just silly just absolutely silly this car and this sound i mean it's to die for it's worth a million bucks on its own just that when you've been driving switzerland being back in italy and being able to accelerate a bit more it's very very very welcome for a case in point check this out we've got this little underpass right in front of us i am going to drop some gears it's just bonkers totally bonkers in the most perfect way we have made it to a garage in milan now if you know anything about italy you don't find the most glamorous of underground garages it's a pretty good thing if you do find somewhere to park your car to begin with so i'm very happy about that one disadvantage with this car is certainly because it's sat around for a lot of time the headlights are loving to do the fogging up thing on the inside there are some fixes to that but ultimately it's going to happen continuously with a car with slightly older non-led headlight technology which get warm an engine that gets very warm and it sits in storage a lot so even if i get some brand new headlights that's going to happen again it's a supercar thing because of the heat and temperatures that these things tend to run at but i tell you what a drive like today in this thing is fabulous it is so good for the purpose i just feel like i could drive so very many miles with it continuously and then you have the cool factor the sound factor the door factor the kind of limited edition factor the motorsport connection just everything to do with it and that's why i think it's a really really very special car awesome though to have visited beale to have finally gone to swatch to do the drive-through in the sls of all of my cars and to have checked out the museum and things while we were there as well so big thanks to our hosts for today it was fantastic for now though it's been a long old one on the road a good 12 or 13 hours very very tired ready to go and have a rest in our hotel so we'll leave it there thank you very much for watching hope you enjoyed the video i'll see you again very soon cheers youhi guys i'm space not realizing that i actually wanted to put some air in there anyways on we go with our drive welcome to beautifully sunny switzerland we have crossed the border out from france we are now cruising on the highways we have some amazing scenery there are some lovely roads switzerland is a wonderful country to come and visit although when it comes to roads and driving the thing i am going to just add is that you really have to truly watch your speed driving in switzerland there is basically a no tolerance policy you cannot go even a kilometer an hour over the speed limit so on a motorway like this where the limit is 120 kilometers per hour with any car rc they have to slightly over read and that means in this car we can do about 123 to be exactly 120 and just cruise and take it easy through the country now considering it's a country with amazing roads and lots of mountain passes it is also a country with some fabulous car collections so many exceptional cars are located in this country the bugatti level noir numerous of every different hypercar you can think of bugattis 177s all of the koenigseggs paganis you name it so many nice cars which i think is a nice segue into talking about the world of cars as investments about the sls black series in some regions now being a one million dollar car which is utterly crazy obviously the whole world has seen an uptake in these kind of cars the limited edition cars that are no longer in production that you can't really get anymore cars with big naturally aspirated engines with design features that can't really be done now that have sound tracks you can't replicate anymore it's just simply not possible obviously that has affected a lot of things from not all that long ago the period of cars from maybe five to ten years ago has been really quite interesting cars that certainly appealed a lot to me things were a little bit further back the carrera gt the lexus lfa the sls black series a three that i talk about quite often if we rewind back though the sls was a huge car for mercedes-benz and for mercedes amg it was the first car that amg did in-house bringing back the gulwing doors that are so legendary from the 300 sl gull wing a car that featured effectively the last iteration of this 6.2 liter naturally aspirated v8 lump that we have up front although instead of being up on the front axle it's a front mid-mounted position in this car you bring all those factors together and it's something that's super appealing for this kind of purpose for driving on a grand tour the black series is genuinely really limited it's believed to be 350 cars they've never actually said officially what the exact number is that was suggested back at the original media drives i remember watching a video from chris harris when he drove it the first time i think in 2013 talking about there being 350 an exclusive car registry talks about 350 and we know that in the us mercedes-benz usa said there were 150 over there so the numbers all add up roughly to being about 350 cars if not exactly 350 and compared to so many others that's nothing there are 349 ferrari f-50s 399 ferrari enzos it's that level of rare whereas many cars of this segment certainly now you would expect to find almost well high hundreds if not thousands things like the gt black series there are going to be approximately 1 700 i believe things like the sto i think there are a couple of thousand of them things like even the ferrari 812 competizione there are 999 coupes 599 convertibles of purchase so just shy of 1 600 in total those numbers of rarity make 350 seem bonkers and it's not just 350 of a car with a different paint scheme like you'd often find from you know part spin special stuff it's not just small changes the car is significantly wider completely different suspension system heavily revised engine and powertrain side of things a completely different driving experience to the regular sls and it is very very very good for it it's a different car and that makes it truly special to me and that's why and i mentioned earlier about different regions having different pricing in the usa which has seen a huge boom in pricing for these kind of cars in recent years sls black series are now trading in some cases for over a million dollars over eight hundred thousand pounds worth now in the uk that kind of money you would really be talking a delivery mileage one of only the 15 or so original right-hand drive delivered cars uh to be at that price point a car like this that's done some miles the value is more in the memories the memories to me the journeys i've taken it on the trips i've done the places i've been that really adds and builds the story with the car and obviously having made it my own with the color nothing that i regret i bought a car that i was happy to go down this path with to not start with something that was a you know delivery mileage museum piece because i don't believe in doing that i believe in having a car that you're going to use that you're going to drive that you're going to do things with but even these numbers are double where the values for this was two and a half years ago they've doubled 100 return on investment effectively if sold now and that is one of the craziest things with all of this with the cars right now and are they ever going to settle back down again is a car like this ever going to go down i doubt it i honestly doubt it's one of the reasons why when the opportunity was there to buy this car even if at the time it felt really bad as the world quickly imploded it was february 2020 that i bought this just weeks before obviously everything was forced to close up shop i think we're never going to see those kind of prices again for things like this for things like the cgt's as much as i would love a carrera gt at some point in my life it's certainly going to be one that will bring a hefty price tag i mean they are what 1 100 car 1 300 cars it's over a thousand cars in total of the cgt's epic car epic car epic naturally aspirated engine from motorsport again it's cars that have these motor sport connections these genuine motorsport connections that seem to attract the biggest attention in terms of investment in terms of um potential in the future let's say if it's purely about that if that's the only purpose or the only reason of it obviously there's a lot more to it and one of the reasons i love this car is that there are a lot of people who know how to work on them the similarities with the other amg models like the w204 c63s and others that have this engine means that there are people out there who can work look at this view just quickly so we come through the valleys here we've only got about 40 or so kilometers to go for today's journey stunning what a place to be as we hop in and out of all of these tunnels because switzerland incredible infrastructure brilliant country as i said in so many ways except for driving freedom except for driving freedom so why is it a million dollar car effectively why am i saying that this is now a million dollar car and the future will be even more there are very few of them it was built for a purpose it to be the road version of the gt3 race car that's been very successful it was one of the last if not the last of this engine it's just something isn't really done anymore you don't get this package anymore you don't get something like this the manufacturers pull together they wouldn't do it for only 350 cars same as like the gt3 rs 4 liter of the 997 generation from porsche nobody would do this now nobody will do it again like this it's not the same certainly not of cars at this price point because now the really limited cars aren't the cars that were 250 000 pounds new they are the cars that were or are two and a half million pounds new it's a very very very very different thing anyway we are dipping in and out of all of these incredibly long tunnels but we're making some good progress thankfully we got the vignette when we crossed the border so that's all good stuck on the windscreen no issues there yeah 3.2 kilometers in this tunnel i could be noisy and drop some gears i'm going to save that until we're in italy later though because don't mess around in switzerland i've seen it too many times with different people getting in trouble just take it easy just cruise through and get to the other side we have made it we are here in bill this is the hometown of swatch and that on the corner is literally the swatch drive-through you can stay in your car open the window and buy a swatch as you drive through around it which is super fun um i'm going to actually park for the moment but i'm not leaving here without going through the drive through so we will pull in this way it's actually really cool it's literally like going to mcdonald's or a burger king or a starbucks or something like that um but if we take one of the parking spots here then we can come check it out in detail later before we do the drive through we've just parked up the car in the sunshine outside the shop for a moment there are a few people around out there but we're going for a little look around starting with this it is of course a car probably the only car that we will see right here but if you've been following the world of the moon swatches the amiga and swatch collaboration i've been wearing lots of them they are currently running 11 500 convertibles in each of the different colors all around the place with the watches including that famous briefcase on the back now within that would normally be the full set of 11 watches but in this one is a little bit of a twist there are the 11 colours of the 500s and as somebody who likes model cars that's really cool because they've even got little briefcases on the back of them the details it's all about the details of a swatch even here for example the badge on the front of this which is the mission to mars also has the amiga and swatch graphic on there as well so i was hoping i might be able to track one of these down i didn't think that it would happen right here that's a pretty good start for the day this is cool in the swatch museum this is cool if you like your swatches as i do this is pretty much as i've talked about on the swatch channel where it began for me collecting the destination swatches of which there are now about 80. i have this one this one this one this one this one quite a few of these as it happens and we also have a view down towards the car with the drive-through you can literally see the drive-through route around there but in here we've got all of the different collaborations and styles the bond series watches that they've made over the time just it goes on and on and on and on and on i also have a bit of an obsession with these the maxis if you want to know more about those you have to check out my watch channel we're back in the car because it is time to do something that i'm quite excited about we are going through the swatch blbn drive through where you literally pull up here like you are at a fast food restaurant in fact i don't know if you can see this completely clearly but we literally have the menu of watches some of the specific risk food ones that you can only buy here those six at the top you can only get at this location along with the destination special fresh from beale which i'm certainly getting a destination special and the morning boost the fried egg breakfast especially i'm gonna get that one and you've got some highlights and some top sellers as well but i'm certainly going to be picking those up so we'll do this and then go to the pay window time for us to go through if this feels wrong but so fun in the drive-through here in beale as we turn towards the window and we pull up here hello thank you very much wow check this out literally like fast food packaging oh this is cool this is really cool i'm just going to show you this quickly it's like a burger box that's actually really fun exclusive packaging that you can get here at the drive-through put that just there at the moment and then this one look at this fresh from beale let me open this quickly this is the specific one for this store now i really like these things i have a lot of them a big collection of them and i have now bought some from right here at the shop which is kind of the icing on the cake now let's uh carefully drive back around driving through was just for fun i mean you have to right you can't come here and not do that oh gosh right let me uh work out where we're gonna head next that building is impressive very impressive the day has flown by it has been as i said a bit of a personal indulgence to come here with the sls to beal to the home of swatch and amiga to visit the museums to drive through the drive-through and purchase some swatches as well something i've been wanting to do for quite a while but it's now time to get back on the road to continue our journey to depart from sitting alongside the apollo lunar module just there as well which is a replica of what the astronauts use to get away from the moon back towards earth obviously a bit of the story behind the speedmaster right there anyway into the sls let's get this journey continued one thing that switzerland does exceptionally well beautiful views stunning stunning roads through the mountains for this kind of highway motorway cruise basically just totally chilled out riding along cruise control going past cameras everywhere through the tunnels in and out of them and that's what i really like about this car modern track focused cars i say modern this isn't that old but more modern than this cars are very very stripped out for the purpose they're generally set up super aggressively very impractical and they lose this ability to just drive you know cruise on the highway sometimes when you don't want to be going absolutely flat out whereas in here it's just a wonderful thing it's just really nice to drive that sound in the background just everything about it everything about this is i don't know it's a wonderful wonderful dynamic gt car that's where it sits and does its job so very very very well speed limit constantly dips up and down between 100 and 120 you have to watch out for it so carefully just to make sure that you don't get it wrong don't do anything wrong but we've got a few hours onwards towards italy and then obviously continuing our journey to milan it is like deja vu the same as when we set off from strasbourg earlier this morning but it is now basically dark we've had a dinner stop we do need to go and get some fuel as well but on this tank we have done you can see here 600 kilometers oh failed there 600 kilometers on one fuel tank which is not bad going that's kind of cool rolling on in nicely parked okay let's go get some fuel into this and then the last hour or so from here to milan that's the plan we're now in italy and frustratingly we just had the most amazing little tunnel run that had the microphones off because i wanted to talk about how epic the exhaust sound is in this thing and in fact if i just go into manual i mean that's just fourth gear at 60 something kilometers per hour we've actually got the magic of the telepath pass device which lets us go straight through here without having to join the queue so give this the double blip this has to be twice here it's once on the french one twice on the italian one there we go and the second one magic pop that away drop the first gear and then just silly just absolutely silly this car and this sound i mean it's to die for it's worth a million bucks on its own just that when you've been driving switzerland being back in italy and being able to accelerate a bit more it's very very very welcome for a case in point check this out we've got this little underpass right in front of us i am going to drop some gears it's just bonkers totally bonkers in the most perfect way we have made it to a garage in milan now if you know anything about italy you don't find the most glamorous of underground garages it's a pretty good thing if you do find somewhere to park your car to begin with so i'm very happy about that one disadvantage with this car is certainly because it's sat around for a lot of time the headlights are loving to do the fogging up thing on the inside there are some fixes to that but ultimately it's going to happen continuously with a car with slightly older non-led headlight technology which get warm an engine that gets very warm and it sits in storage a lot so even if i get some brand new headlights that's going to happen again it's a supercar thing because of the heat and temperatures that these things tend to run at but i tell you what a drive like today in this thing is fabulous it is so good for the purpose i just feel like i could drive so very many miles with it continuously and then you have the cool factor the sound factor the door factor the kind of limited edition factor the motorsport connection just everything to do with it and that's why i think it's a really really very special car awesome though to have visited beale to have finally gone to swatch to do the drive-through in the sls of all of my cars and to have checked out the museum and things while we were there as well so big thanks to our hosts for today it was fantastic for now though it's been a long old one on the road a good 12 or 13 hours very very tired ready to go and have a rest in our hotel so we'll leave it there thank you very much for watching hope you enjoyed the video i'll see you again very soon cheers you\n"
