Fixing Controller Detection Issues in Evoland: A Quick Tutorial
Hello everyone, my name is EposVox and welcome to this quick tutorial on how to fix your controller detection issues on Evoland. Evoland is an indie game available on Steam that was recently part of a steam sale for a few bucks, so many people are probably getting it, and anyone wanting to run Windows 8 is probably having controller issues now. I have my official Microsoft wired Xbox 360 controller plugged in, so we're going to run the game here.
You'll see that it's not detected once we get to the start menu, you know the game's menu, Evil Land. All right now, we have the menu pop up and I am unable to navigate the menus with my controller. So let's go to options, Gamepad not found, that means it's not detecting my controller despite it being the basic gamepad for all games. To do so in order to fix it, navigate to your Steam directory. For me, it's Games Steam then SteamApps Common and find Evoland. You're going to want to right-click pad.dot.exe and go to properties and go to compatibility.
Enable compatibility mode for Windows 7 and run as administrator. Hit apply, hit ok, and run it, and it should detect your controller as you see it detects my Xbox 360 controller now. Close that window, right-click pan.exe again, go to properties, disable compatibility mode just completely uncheck it now leave run as an administrator on but uncheck compatibility mode hit ok. Right-click Evoland.exe go to properties, compatibility, and enable run as administrator do not enable compatibility mode or you will run into some errors but do run both pad.exe and Evil Land as administrator.
Hit ok and then you're perfectly fine to launch the game as it launches up here you'll see that it does in fact detect and work with my controller. Now I wish it had a skippable menu that has one critique of the game or a little intro scene, it's only a few seconds but it's still something I wish I could spam A or click and all right now I'm able to navigate with my controller. It has gamepad setup you can set up your buttons and you're good to go.
Hope this helps some people out hope this fixes your controller detection issues in Evo Land thank you for watching, guys my name is Ben EposVox and I will see you all next time thank you for watching hello everyone my name is eposvox and welcome to a quick tutorial on how to fix your controller detection issues on evoland evoland is an indie game on steam that was recently part of the steam sale on sale for a few bucks and so a lot of people are probably getting it and anybody wanting running windows 8 is probably having controller issues now i do have my official microsoft wired xbox 360 controller plugged in so we're going to run the game here you're going to see that it is in fact not detected once we get to the start menu you know the game's menu evil land all right now we have the menu pop up and i am unable to navigate the menus with my controller so let's go to options gamepad not found that means it's not detecting my controller despite it being the basic gamepad for all games to do so in order to fix it navigate to your steam directory so for me it's games steam then steamapps common and find evoland and you're going to want to right click pad dot exe and go to properties and go to compatibility enable compatibility mode for windows 7 and run as administrator hit apply hit ok and run it and it should detect your controller as you see it detects my xbox 360 controller now close that window right click right-click pan.exe again go to properties disable compatibility mode just completely uncheck it now leave run as an administrator on but uncheck compatibility mode hit ok right click evoland.exe go to properties compatibility and enable run as administrator do not enable compatibility mode or you will run into some errors but do run both pad.exe and evil land as administrator hit ok and then you're perfectly fine to launch the game as it launches up here you'll see that it does in fact detect and work with my controller now i wish it had a skippable menu that has one critique of the game or a little intro scene it's only a few seconds but it's still something i wish i could spam a or click and all right now i'm able to navigate with gamepad it has gamepad setup you can set up your buttons and you're good to go hope this helps some people out hope this fix your controller detection issues in evo land thank you for watching guys my name is ben eposvox and i will see you all next time thank you for watching
