The Flur USB IR Receiver: A Game-Changer for Home Entertainment Systems
We're going to focus on the Flur USB 22.95, a product that allows you to pair any remote control with your computer or Media Center. The process is incredibly simple and cross-platform, making it accessible to users of all skill levels. To get started, simply walk through the super easy pairing application and you're done. The previously paired remote can be used on any machine without additional software.
I've personally tested this on a Windows machine and it works flawlessly. I haven't had a chance to test it on the Raspberry Pi 3 yet, but we'll get into that in a bit. One of the features that really stands out is the built-in pairing profiles. These profiles include options for Media Center, Xbox 360, Fire TV, and keyboard, among others. This means you can easily set up your remote control to work with your favorite devices without having to download any additional software.
The Flur USB IR Receiver is available for Windows (both 32-bit and 64-bit), Mac, and Linux, making it a truly cross-platform solution. The software is easy to use and allows you to program your USB adapter in no time. I've downloaded the Windows version and plugged my USB adapter into my computer. Opening up the software reveals a simple and minimalistic controller configuration screen.
To pair the remote control with Cody, I simply selected the "Cody" profile from the available options. The software quickly detected that my USB adapter was connected to my PC and began the pairing process. Once paired, I was able to configure the buttons on my Samsung controller to work with Cody. This involved pressing each button on the controller and assigning it to a specific function within Cody.
One of the features that I found particularly useful is the ability to map custom functions to the remote control buttons. By pressing each button on the controller while pointing it towards the IR receiver, I was able to assign specific actions to each key. For example, I mapped the "pause" and "play" buttons to work with my favorite video player.
I recently had the chance to test the Flur USB IR Receiver on a Raspberry Pi 3 running Cody. The results were nothing short of impressive. With the adapter plugged in and the remote control paired, I was able to use the remote to control my media center without any issues. This has been a game-changer for me, as I'm always looking for ways to simplify my home entertainment system.
In particular, the ability to use any IR remote with Cody is a major plus. No longer do I have to worry about messing up the keyboard or trackpad on my laptop while watching a movie. With this adapter, I can simply hide the remote in a convenient location and let it do its job. This has been especially useful with my kids around, as they love messing with the keyboard.
For those looking for more advanced functionality, I've added a few extra programs to my Cody setup. One of these is the YouTube search function, which allows me to quickly find videos on demand. By using the remote control's buttons, I can easily navigate through different channels and playlists.
One thing that did surprise me was how well the Flur USB IR Receiver works with more advanced features like fast forward. While it doesn't support 32x fast forward playback, it does provide a reasonable amount of speed control. This has been a welcome addition to my setup, as I'm always looking for ways to customize my viewing experience.
Overall, I'm thoroughly impressed with the Flur USB IR Receiver and its ability to streamline my home entertainment system. With its ease of use, cross-platform compatibility, and customizable button mapping, it's clear that this is a product worth considering for anyone looking to upgrade their media center setup.
