with the price as that around about 500 pounds at the time of filming you're actually getting quite a lot for your money here this is a 32 inch 4k 60 Hertz monitor and it uses a VA panel to deliver 600 nits of peak brightness via the display HDR 600 standard image quality out of the box is actually pretty good with Philips reporting a DCI p3 coverage of around about 98% and then srgb and a hundred and thirty-five percent in the real world and actually looking at this on your desk I'm not quite sure that this is gonna be perfect for the real serious colour greatests and anyone that really does rely on color but I think for everyone else bearing in mind that this is essentially a console gaming monitor it's really quite impressive what it delivers the design of the monitor is probably an area where I'd say that it does definitely have a bit of weakness in my opinion though I really do enjoy the modern sleek frame angle that they're going for here it doesn't scream gamer at you but glossy plastic Philips really it just looks a bit naff it's scratches that marks easily it's just not the best material choice unfortunately the stand is also a bit weird as while it's plenty stable it only has height adjust and tilts no swivel here it's definitely not really an issue but it's just a little bit strange connections wise we are all gravy though with DisplayPort 1.4 and 3 yes three HDMI 2.0 so you can connect your PC Xbox ps4 and switch all at the same time fabulous there are also some speakers inside this monitor but as you'd expect they probably are a little bit mediocre so if you're going to give this monitor maybe to your kid for its bedroom that's gonna be absolutely fine but you are going to be much better off actually connecting some speakers or some headphones probably to the headphone jack that is found on this monitor and getting a much better all-around audio experience across all of your devices Philips and the globe makes a return in the form of an RGB bar that's found along the bottom of the display and this can actually match your source for immersion but to be honest you're much better off just parking this in a static white backlight as this will actually help to relax your eyes rather than being something that's just a little bit distracting general desktop use actually works really well with the display is the 4k sharpness on a 32 inch panel is really the sweet spot in my opinion as it gives you a great balance between usable space and then pixel density it really is a cracking looking panel I'm not always that impressed with the color reproduction on VA monitors and while I think that the best IPS displays are clearly gonna be better than this I think you're really incredibly unlikely to actually not love what's on offer here it really does look fantastic with decent viewing angles and then a rich vibrant glow to all of the images that are produced I'd say that I'd want to calibrate it properly first but then I'd have no issue using this for a prosumer works maybe like a bit of video editing photo stuff if you're a die-hard colorist then yes you're going to want to check out something a lot more specialist but generally speaking I think everyone really is gonna be impressed with what's on offer here and this actually brings this quite nicely to the gaming side because if you're on the right temp for this I really do think you're gonna have the same sorts of opinion you're gonna love it for the color but you're also gonna love it for gaming performance I think that if you understand exactly what this screen is designed for and this is going to actually match what you do then you're really not going to be disappointed so let's map out exactly what that is consoles will output a 4k HDR signal at 60 Hertz almost always add a fixed V Singh interval and so if you're replicating this and if you're doing this on the PC side as well as your gaming then you're actually going to be using this monitor for what it's designed for and playing Shadow the Tomb Raider at 60 Hertz on the PC in HDR was a real cracking experience and while vsync does definitely add a little bit of latency you can feel this when you're moving the mouse you can't actually notice this when you're using a gamepad so you can just enjoy the Super Shot visuals and then get yourself lost in that experience the HDR is actually pretty decent for the price while it's certainly no g-sync Ultimates the 600 nits of peak brightness does make a huge impact and the backlight 16 zones of dimming runs circles around any single global backlight it does struggle a bit with high contrast between extreme lights and darks as you'd probably expect from a rather simple solution but I do think that most of you will be quite happy here after all it's four times less than the X 27 so you are getting what you pay for and the types of gaming though are a little bit more hit and miss and I'll be completely honest and say that this monitor doesn't really suit what I do the types of games I play means that I sort of yearn for something else I said yearn weird there it's just a good word in general isn't it I yearn for this I'm still addicted to apex legends and coming from a high refresh rate monitor this is just far worse and experience it's to be expected the screen is much harder to drive than 1440p and then at 60 Hertz you just don't get that fluidity that can make all of the difference in FPS don't misinterpret this to mean that this monitor is bad because it's really not if you can drive 4k 60 games like Gears of War in apex will look phenomenal especially if they support HDR but if you're serious about first-person gaming on the PC and you have 500 pounds for a monitor then there just are better options out there it's a fact unfortunately but likewise on the flipside if you play a lot of Civilization RTS or you just play with a controller then this is exactly what this screen is for and if you can feed it a locked 60 Hertz signal you're going to love what's on offer there is an option for adaptive sync that you can use with AMD and NVIDIA gpus but I found that it doesn't quite work as well as the others on the market it's just still a little bit stuttering unfortunately all in all this really is quite an easy recommendation to make because if you are someone that has a ps4 Pro an Xbox one X and a PC you want to use both at the same time you maybe do a lot of work and creative stuff but you play games on both as well then this is exactly what it's designed for is a great-sized it looks great and it handles that sort of gaming absolutely fine but if you're more of a competitive player you don't really have any use for 4k HDR maybe you don't have anything to drive it with then there
