Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge+ review

The Pursuit of Perfection: Samsung's Galaxy S6 Edge Plus Review

If you've got a crazy idea, you might as well go as big as you possibly can with it. This philosophy is perfectly encapsulated in Samsung's latest offering, the Galaxy S6 Edge Plus. The device takes its predecessor, the Galaxy S6 Edge, and amplifies its features to create a stunningly large screen that curves around the edges of the phone.

The S6 Edge Plus boasts an impressive 5.7-inch display, significantly larger than the smaller 5.1-inch screen of its predecessor. The device's sloping curved sides give it a sleek and modern look, earning it the "Edge" moniker. The phone's metal and glass construction remains top-notch, with the same processor and camera as the S6 Edge. However, this time around, it packs 4GB of RAM, making it a truly fast phone.

Despite its impressive specs, the S6 Edge Plus has some fundamental issues that make it impractical to use in everyday life. The curved edges, which are visually stunning in product shots, distort picture and video on the edges more than ever, essentially defeating the purpose of their design. Moreover, the super shiny glass finish collects fingerprints like nobody's business, making the phone a magnet for smudges.

To compensate for these issues, Samsung made slight improvements to take advantage of the curved display. The swipe-in shortcut for favorite contacts has been expanded to include apps, making it a bit more practical than before. However, this is not enough to make up for the phone's inherent design flaws. There are plenty of third-party apps available in the Play Store that can replicate these features on flat smartphones, rendering the curved display less necessary.

One area where the S6 Edge Plus shines is with battery life. The smaller S6 Edge often struggled to last a full day on a charge, but this is not the case with the Edge Plus. I'm able to reliably go a full day without needing to recharge my phone, and have juice left in the tank when it's time for bed.

The Edge Plus doesn't have a removable or replaceable battery, which may be a drawback for some users. However, it can still be recharged rapidly with a USB cable or wirelessly using a compatible pad, making it convenient to top up your phone on the go. In terms of performance, camera quality, and software, the S6 Edge Plus gets the basics right. The phone has a big, beautiful screen, fast performance, a great camera, and long battery life.

However, if you're buying the S6 Edge Plus for practical reasons, you may want to consider alternative options. The device's head-turning design makes it harder to use than it should be. The curved edges are more of a hindrance than a help, and the super shiny glass finish is a magnet for fingerprints.

Ultimately, if you're buying the S6 Edge Plus because it looks damn cool, then you may have made the right decision. Sometimes, it's worth looking cool, and this phone delivers in spades. But if you're looking for a practical smartphone that won't turn nearly as many heads but still offers the same level of performance, consider the Note 5 instead. Its more traditional display may be less comfortable to use than the S6 Edge Plus, but it's a better choice if you prioritize functionality over aesthetics.

In conclusion, the Galaxy S6 Edge Plus is a stunningly large phone with impressive specs and features. However, its design flaws and impracticalities make it a harder sell for everyday users. If you're willing to overlook these issues in favor of style and performance, then the S6 Edge Plus may be the perfect choice for you. But if practicality is your top priority, consider alternative options that offer similar performance without the same level of flair.

which is pretty crazy the new S6 Edge Plus is that crazy idea gone bigger at its core the S6 Edge Plus is just a bigger version of the S6 Edge it has a stunning 5.7 in display in place of the smaller
