Unboxing and Basic Setup of the Element Amazon FireTV Edition 55-inch 4K TV
We're excited to unbox and set up our new 55-inch 4K TV, which comes with Amazon's FireTV system built right into it. Let's take a look at how easy this is to get started.
Unboxing the TV
The unboxing process is dead simple, so we won't be showing you that part of it. However, when you pop open the top, you'll find the TV sitting right up top, accompanied by some product literature, a remote with batteries for it, four screws, and two legs. The legs are clearly labeled, so you know which leg goes on which side and in which direction this is the right leg and it points forward to the front of the TV. Two little dimples will go in these two little holes and line up your screw holes from there; it's just two screws and you're secure.
Getting Started with the Back of the TV
The back of the TV reveals a power cable that is hardwired, so there's no need to wonder where that goes. All of your connections are located right here on the left-hand side, including four HDMI connections and two USB connections. The most commonly used ones are situated next to each other for easy access. You'll also find the rest of the older connections underneath the front of the TV.
First Impression: Bezel and Legs
The front of the TV greets us with a fairly trim bezel that has a silvery sheen to it, which matches well with the TV's metal legs. It's worth noting that those legs are about 35 and a quarter inches wide. As for the screen, there is some anti-reflective coating on it, but not a lot. The screen tends to be a little bit reflective in certain lighting conditions.
The Remote: A Familiar Design with New Features
The remote that comes with the TV looks a lot like the FireTV remotes we're used to seeing, but with some new additions. You'll find Prime Video, Amazon Music, and Netflix hotkeys on the remote, which is a nice touch. There's also a voice key up here, which is how you'll call up Alexa on your TV. If you own an Echo speaker, you can now use far-field communication to activate Alexa and communicate with the TV.
Setting Up Your FireTV Edition
When you power the TV on, if you're not already connected to a network, it will prompt you to sign in to your Wi-Fi router. Once you're connected to the internet, you'll see that your TV is already signed into your Amazon account. From there, setup is pretty much done.
Connecting an Antenna
If you connect an antenna to the TV, you'll want to let it scan for channels after that. You'll then be shown a brief introductory video from Amazon to adjust picture settings. To make adjustments or go back to individual inputs, press and hold the home button and navigate down to the picture settings area.
