The HTC One M8 Unboxing and First Look: A Closer Look at the Device's Features and Specifications
Now we also have the Snapdragon 85, 8, and 810 but no Android smartphone uses any of those yet so the 8001 is simply an overclocked 800 CPU where the 85, 88, and 8810 are brand new CPU models introduced at CS 2014. So we get a 2.3 GHz quad-core Dragon 81 CPU with the HTC One M8 as well as 2 GB of RAM and you can also get this in 16 or 32 GB capacity with a possibility to expand that to up to 128 GB which is insane. We also get the large 2600 milliamp battery, as well as two power saving modes - a power saver mode and an extreme power saving mode which can get you up to 5 days of usage. I will explain what the extreme power saving mode is in my full HTC One M8 review so definitely stay tuned for that video.
Taking a look at the back of the HTC One M8, it's not a flat one, it's actually a rounded one, which means that it's really really comfortable to hold in the hand although it's a bit thicker than its competitors. Also in the back we get two cameras - the first one is a four Ultra Pixel camera which can record in full HD 1080P and up to 30 frames per second I said that this was an ultra pixel camera, now I will explain what an ultra pixel camera is, why it's called an ultra pixel camera and what's the deal with ultra pixels. Once again my full preview so definitely stay tuned for that but to keep it short this camera is insane in low light conditions, you also got a second camera which is not actually a camera, a lot of people including Tech reviewers Mok this for a camera, it's not a camera it's a def sensor so no you don't have two cameras you have a camera and a def sensor and the good news is that you can use a def sensor in conjunction with a camera to get some cool 3D effects as well as refocus the images after a photo was taken which is pretty cool. We also get a dual tone flash, this is not a dual flash it's a dual tone flash, it's basically the same thing like we have on the iPhone 5S. Also on the back of the phone we get those rubber bands now as you probably know the HTC One is made entirely out of aluminium, this is what the phone is made of and aluminium doesn't allow 3G or celor signal to pass through so that's why we have those rubber bands to allow the signal to pass through hopefully you can see this in the video.
We also have a DOT here which is basically the microphone and to be honest the detail on this phone is simply amazing, that perforation is perfectly centered on the rubber band. Finally as I mentioned at the beginning of my video this is the HTC One M8 version so this one comes with the latest version of Android which is 4.4.2 as well as HTC's new S6 overlay now S six comes with a lot of new features including the famous blink feed which is basically something like Flipboard, it's a place where you get to see all of that is of interest to you so Tech news UK or US News and so on.
The Unboxing Experience
The HTC One M8 comes in a sleek and premium box that sets the tone for what's inside. The phone itself looks stunning with its rounded edges and metallic finish, which feels incredibly solid in the hand. The phone is surprisingly light and feels comfortable to hold, even with the large 2600 milliamp battery.
Opening up the phone reveals a clean and minimal interior that showcases the device's impressive features. We see a generous amount of storage space available, ranging from 16GB to 128GB, depending on the variant chosen by the buyer. The internal memory is expandable via microSD cards, so users can easily boost their storage capacity.
The Power Saving Modes
One of the standout features of the HTC One M8 is its innovative power saving modes. There are two power-saving modes available - a standard power saver mode and an extreme power saving mode. While both modes aim to conserve battery life by reducing screen brightness, background app refresh, and other power-hungry activities, they cater to different user needs.
The standard power saver mode reduces screen brightness, turns off location services, and disables Bluetooth when not in use. However, it allows users to continue using certain apps, such as social media and messaging, which requires a steady connection to the internet. The extreme power saving mode takes this a step further by turning off Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, and cellular connectivity altogether, effectively isolating the device from the outside world.
The Camera Capabilities
The HTC One M8 features an impressive four Ultra Pixel camera on its back, which is capable of recording full HD 1080P video at 30 frames per second. The camera also boasts an excellent low-light performance, thanks to its advanced image processing capabilities.
However, what sets the camera apart from its competitors is its ability to capture stunning images in a variety of lighting conditions. Whether you're shooting in bright sunlight or low light environments, the Ultra Pixel camera delivers impressive results that rival those of professional-grade cameras.
The Conclusion
The HTC One M8 is an outstanding smartphone that checks all the right boxes for enthusiasts and casual users alike. With its powerful quad-core processor, long-lasting battery life, and exceptional camera capabilities, this device is sure to impress even the most discerning tech enthusiasts. While there are some minor compromises in terms of design and software experience, overall, the HTC One M8 is a must-have device for anyone looking for a premium smartphone that truly delivers on its promises.
"WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: enhey everyone and welcome to my hc1 unboxing and First Look video but before starting the video I just want to ask you something do you remember this guy this face right here that's right that's Clarence and he has a new show on Cartoon Network just check out this short clip the burgers here are good the chicken nuggets good the fries are good and the soda pop is really good I only like the fries here what you don't like the burgers no what about the Nuggets nope not even the burgers no what about the Fun Dungeon now I've seen the first episode which was awesome and to be honest Clarence is pretty much the best guy ever he's the coolest kid in school it's basically the kid who would play Xbox games in class instead of paying attention to the teacher yeah he's that kind of guy so be sure to check out the first episode as well and car network is letting you watch the series preview here on YouTube so just click anywhere on Clarance space to check it out make sure you watch all new episodes of Clarance on Cartoon Network Mondays at 7:00 p.m. six Central this guy this guy is the best honestly check it out it's pretty cool hey everyone and welcome to the zone of tech I'm Daniel and yes I know I know every single Tech reviewer except for me has already done this video over a week ago but you know that saying better late than ever right so this is the long awaited HTC 1 M8 and this is my unboxing and first look at my new mate so enjoy the video okay now taking a look at the box we have an HTC1 logo on the top left of the box and then we have an image with the HTC1 and once again this is the uh gunmetal HTC1 you can also get this in silver or gray pretty much like a really close competitor but yeah this is the gunmetal HTC1 I think this one looks the best you can see the blink feed and the duo camera which I will talk about in a couple of minutes and then on the bottom of the Box we get some features which come with the new HTC 1 and8 so we get Z we get HTC boom sound we get motion launch we got HTC blink feed as well as dual camera now on the sides you can see that we have nothing so right side nothing left hand side of the Box nothing bottom of the Box nothing and then on the top we have the emay serial number and all of that good stuff finally on the back of the box we get a capacity which is 16 GB in my case now we can also get this in 32 GB and also expand this with a Micro SD card which is pretty cool and then here you can see the specs of the new HDC1 which I will talk about later okay so enough with the outside of the box let me just get my big old knife hopefully I don't cut myself and crack this baby open so enjoy some epic unboxing music so the first item inside the box is the power adapter now as you can see this is a really really nice looking power adapter this is honestly the highest quality the best looking power adapter I have ever seen even better than Apples as you can see it has this glossy just really really nice glossy design with an HTC logo in the middle now this is the UK model but obviously if you live in a different country you will get one which matches your country so to use this in the UK all you have to do is simply pop up the third pin so to say and there you go you can now plug it in and you get this pretty cool Terminator look so to say looks like a machine gun with three barrels of some sort now the second item which you get inside box is the micro usb2 USB cable for charging and syncing your HTC1 so no wir is charging here unfortunately and no USB 3.0 like we get with the Galaxy S5 for example now the next item which we get inside the Box are the headphones so these are the headphones they look pretty pretty cool they honestly look really really interesting with this black and red design and to be honest the detail on those headphones is simply remarkable so as you can see we can even see the red the red markings the red lines on the jack on the 3.5 mm headphone jack so the detail here is indeed remarkable now unfortunately these are not Beats headphones because HTC has separated from the Beats partnership a while ago these are not Beats headphones and to be honest they do not look cheap at all but keep in mind that I will do a full test a full demo of those headphones in my full HTC1 and maj review so definitely hit the like button down there if you're interested in seeing that now you also get two replacement earpieces so you get two small ones and two large ones the ones which come with the headphones are mediumsized now the next item which we get inside the box is a silicone case there you go this is a free silicone case which apparently HTC supplied for free now this case only protects the back of the device and it's quite a good fit it also comes with this port cap or Port seal whatever you want to call it which protects the headphone jack as well as the micro USB port from dust or dirt which is a nice feature to have you can also purchase HTC's New View case which is what I did so stay tuned for my full coverage video on that since at the moment that is by far the best smartphone accessory on the market way better than Samsung's svw cover or apple smart cover for the iPad so be sure to hit that like button if you're interested in seeing that video as well now we also get a quick start guide which uh shows you some quick HTC1 tips and tricks hence its name we also get some HTC branded stickers which are a bit different than the ones you get in the US and to be honest they kind of look weird I don't think I'll be sticking those to any piece of furniture now besides this we also get some more literature so we get the HTC and user liement agreement we get a safety guide limed warranty statement as well as the Sim je and as you can see the Sim tool is really really nice looks nice way better than paperclip which comes with the iPhone 5c just saying so yeah there we go this was all we had in the Box as you can see there's no HTC Advantage here at least not a free onetime screen replacement within 6 months like we get in the US for the AT&T version for example however we do get something else we get Advanced content backup and restore features and we also get no charge 50 GB Google drive storage which is pretty good to have HTC has Spen with Google to give you free 50 GB of Google drive storage now keep in mind that Samsung has a deal with draw box for example which gives you the same 50 GB but withd draw box instead of Google Drive that was the box now moving on to the device itself the HTC1 comes with an amazing design so my model is the gun metal and it comes with this brushed aluminium texture or aluminum like it's pronounced in the US I do have to say hands down this is the best texture you can get on any phone brushed aluminum is simply amazing feels awesome in the hand un like its close competitors which took a more medical approach now besides the black or gunmetal color you can also get this in silver or gold so basically the same colors as a well-known fruit company now you can also get this in the Google Play edition from the official Google Play Store which is basically the version running stock Android because this one isn't running stock Android runs Android but you get an overlay called HTC sent 6 which I will talk about once again in my full review now if you choose to do so you can install Stock Android on this by yourself but by the way let me know in the comments section down below if you would like to see a tutorial on how to do that because it's not the simple task how to remove HTC Sense and install Stock Android let me know in the comment section down below if you want me to do a tutorial on that doing a size comparison this is the HTC1 and made against the new Sony Xperia Z2 so as you can see they pretty much have the exact same foot print although Sony xer Z 2 has a slightly larger 5.2 in display compared to the 5in one which comes with the one now if we take the Galaxy S4 for example you can see that both phones are a bit taller than the GS4 and simply bringing the iPhone 4S into this comparison will simply make some of you laugh now unfortunately I don't have my iPhone 5S anymore it's pretty much the reason why I haven't done a full review on that long story short got mugged had it stolen so don't have it anymore bad things happen all the time but anyway full coverage of the new Sony xer Z 2 as well as the Samsung Galaxy S5 not the GS4 I've showed you in this video in a couple of days so definitely hit the like button and subscribe to my channel on te if you're interested in seeing those but for now this phone is made out of 90% metal 90% which is insane the previous generation the M7 was made out of 70% metal so you got a huge 20% metal Booth so to say uh with a new generation which now comes with this full unibody design because the previous model the M7 corners or the edges were made out of plastic no more plastic this time on the top we got a first Speaker Grill because yes we have two of those so dual stereo speakers on the front of the phone which is simply amazing they are basically by far the best speakers on any smartphone out there full stop now just to give you an idea of how good the speakers on the new HTC1 and made truly are I'm going to do a quick comparison with the Sony Xperia Z2 so there you go first off the speakers on the new Sony Xperia Z2 now let's try something different with The Hobbit trailer so first off Sony experio Z 2 where are you come now don't be shy step into the light and now the almighty HTC1 M8 where are you come now don't be shy don't be shy step into the light so what did you think let me know in the comment section down below once again full demo full review of the speakers on the new HTC 1 M8 and my full HTC1 M8 review so definitely stay tuned for that as well as some son exper that two content coming in the next couple of days so definitely stay tuned for those now right beneath the top speaker we get an LED notification light which can light up if you have low battery or you get some notifications such as email messages missed phone calls and more we also get an ambul light and proximity sensor as well as a 5 megapixel wide-angle front facing camera which can record in up to 1080p now as we go down the phone we can see this large 1080p 5 in display with a pixel density or PPI of 441 basically the same as on the Galaxy S4 so yes we now have a 5in display compared to the 4.7 in display like we had on the previous model and on the bottom of the phone besides the second speaker we also have an HTC logo and has no capacitive touch buttons this time like we had on last year's model the M7 now they're basically integrated into the operating system basically like we have on nex's devices now taking a look at the sides of the M8 we get a nano SIM slot on the left a Micro SD card slot on the right because yes we can finally expand the storage here with the m mate we also get a volume up and down button on the right micro USB and headphone jack on the bottom where they should be and finally a really badly placed power button on the top of the device which acts as an IR blaster as well so yes you can control your TV with this thing but once again full coverage of that in my full review as for the specs this is one of those Four Musketeers as I like to call them so at the moment we have four phones on the market which are really really high spec so we have the iPhone 5S we have the Samsung Galaxy S5 we have the Sony xeria Z2 as well as this phone the HTC 1 and8 so they all have some insane specs by the way Galaxy S5 and xeria Z2 cover coming in a few days but for now this is the HTC 1 M8 and yes it comes with the Snapdragon 801 CPU this is basically the most powerful Android CPU on the market at least as of April 2014 now we also have the Snapdragon 85 8 and 810 but no what the extreme power saving mode is in my full HTC 1 and mate review so definitely stay tuned for that video okay now taking a look at the back of the HTC 1 M8 it's not a flat one it's actually a rounded one which means that's really really comfortable to hold in the hand although it's a bit thicker than its competitors also in the back we get two cameras the first one the large one is a four pixel camera and what's the deal with ultra pixels once again my full preview so definitely stay tuned for that but to keep it short this camera is insane in low light conditions you also got a second camera which is not actually a camera a lot of people including Tech reviewers Mok this for a camera it's not a camera it's a def sensor so no you don't have two cameras you have a camera and a def sensor and the good news is that you can use a dep sensor in conjunction with a camera to get some cool 3D effects as well as refocus the images after a photo was taken which is pretty cool and then we also get a dual tone flash this is not a dual flash it's a dual tone flash it's basically the same thing like we have on the iPhone 5S but once again full demo of the camera and my full review so definitely stay tuned for that now also on the back of the phone we get those rubber bands now as you probably know the HTC1 is made entirely out of aluminium this is what the phone is made of and aluminium doesn't allow 3G or celor signal to pass through so that's why we have those rubber bands to allow the signal to pass through hopefully you can see this in the video we also have a DOT here which is basically the microphone and to be honest the detail on this phone is simply amazing that perforation is perfectly centered on the rubber band and finally as I mentioned at the beginning of my video this is the HTC S 6 version so this one comes with the latest version of Android which is 4.4.2 as well as HTC's new s 6 overlay now s six comes with a lot of new features including the famous blink feed which is basically something like Flipboard so it's a place where you get to see all of that is of interest to you so Tech news UK or US News and so on so there we go this was basically it this was my unboxing and first look at the new and the brand new HTC 1 M8 now I will do a couple of more videos on the HTC 1 M8 including my full review of this in which I will cover
