Tesla Model X vs Audi SQ7 - Electric vs Diesel acceleration challenge _ Head2Head
**Electric Powerhouse: Tesla Model X100d vs Diesel Beast - Audi SQ7**
In this article, we will pit two powerful vehicles against each other, one electric and one diesel-powered. The Tesla Model X100d, with its dual motors producing 416 horsepower, takes on the Audi SQ7, a 4L twin turbo V8 powered by an electric compressor. We put these cars through various tests to see which one comes out on top.
**0-60mph Time**
The first test was to measure the acceleration of both cars from 0-60mph. The Tesla Model X100d took 4.9 seconds to reach 60mph, while the Audi SQ7 took a mere 5.1 seconds. This suggests that the electric powertrain of the Tesla provides a significant advantage in terms of instant torque and acceleration.
**0-100mph Time**
However, when it came to accelerating from 0-100mph, the Audi SQ7 proved to be more formidable, taking just 12.1 seconds compared to the Tesla's 11.6 seconds. Despite this, the Tesla still managed to outperform its diesel counterpart in terms of raw acceleration.
**Specialist Timing Gear Test**
To get a more accurate reading, we used a specialist timing gear to measure the acceleration of both cars. The results showed that the Tesla Model X100d was indeed right about its claimed 0-60mph time of 4.8 seconds, while the Audi SQ7 took 5.1 seconds.
**Rolling Race Test**
For a more realistic test, we set up a rolling race from 50mph and counted down from three before both cars were floored to see which one would cross the finish line first. The Tesla's single forward gear gave it an instant advantage, leaving the Audi Q7 in its dust.
**Acceleration Ferocity Test**
To put the cars' acceleration ferocity to the test, we placed our camera assistant Lewis in the back of each car and tested their ability to give him a shock when accelerating quickly. The results showed that the Tesla was able to provide a more intense start than the Audi Q7.
**Braking Test**
Finally, we put both cars through a braking test by racing them from 70mph to a cone, with the goal of seeing which car could stop in the shortest distance. Despite its heavier weight and advanced carbon ceramic brakes, the Tesla Model X100d took less time to stop than the Audi SQ7, claiming another victory for electric power.
**Conclusion**
In conclusion, both the Tesla Model X100d and the Audi SQ7 are powerful vehicles that offer impressive acceleration and performance. However, when it comes to raw electric power and instant torque, the Tesla is hard to beat. While the Audi Q7 may have its advantages in terms of handling and braking performance, the Tesla's electric powertrain gives it a significant edge in many areas.
"WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: enI'm in a Tesla Model x100d that is an Audi sq7 and I want to know which gives you the best performance for your money for your 7 Seer SUV is it electric power or is it Diesel power now both these cars are fairly matched in terms of their price including options and they have similar power outputs so I'm going to put them through a series of performance tests I'm going to do a rolling race I'm going to do a break test I'm going to do an acceleration ferocity test more about that later but first I'm going to start off with the classic standing quarter mile drag race so let's get it on all got away first it's quite close though I'm starting to pull away from it come on come on Tesla Tesla power that's a win oh that's a win clear win the Tesla model xed A4 Mile in 13.4 seconds and crossed the Finish Line at 102 mph the Audi took 13.5 seconds but interestingly was doing 106 mph when it crossed the line and now for some more geeky stats the Tesla Model x100d cost from just over £90,000 this one with options is actually £ 104,000 now from its dual motors it produces 416 horsepower it has 660 new M of torque and Tesla says it can do n to 60 in 4.8 seconds but can it really well I got this specialist timing gear and I'm going to find out so let's go feels pretty quick and that's 60 got a reading going to keep on going to 100 because why not and that is 100 okay let's see what I did it felt pretty bling quick actually so was Tesla right not to 60 4.9 seconds and not to 100 11.6 seconds so that's what electric power does how about Diesel power so this Audi sq7 it starts from £ 71,000 this one with options is actually around 95,000 it's got a 4 L twin turbo V8 with an electric compressor it pumps out 435 horsepower it's got 900 newm of torque and according to Audi it'll do n to 60 in just 4.9 seconds so let's find out what it really does all I have to do is mash the throttle go it's going it's going strong doesn't feel quite as intense as the Tesla that's my 60 M hour there uh now we're doing the 100 right let's see what we got let's see what we got oh let's break hard my God that's going to make me feel a bit sick those right okay so n to 60 5.1 seconds n to 100 12.1 seconds thing is not many people launch their cars so time for a test which is more realistic so now we're going to have a rolling race from 50 m an hour and I'm going to count us down from three and then we're both going to floor the throttle and see what happens so let's just get up to 50 m hour get nice and level so that's 50 three two one go and goodbye oh my gosh it's leaving it for dead that's because the Tesla has just one forward gear so it's always ready to go while the electric motor delivers maximum pulling power immediately the Audi may have a special electronic compressor to reduce turbo lag but it's automatic had to kick down and by the time it had grabbed a lower gear the race was already over that's why the next test looks solely at acceleration ferocity now one of the good things about these 7 seater SUVs is that they' got so much performance that if you got some naughty children in the back you can give them a bit of a shock just by putting your foot down and so now I'm going to test this car's acceleration ferocity with the help of our camera assistant Lewis now he's in the back how do you feel about there LS yeah not bad it's quite nice okay so he's actually sat there with a cup of water that is precariously full I'm going to do 30 m an hour and we're going to see what happens when I put my foot down so you ready Louis yeah here it goes did you get a little bit wet does it look like you've had a bit of an accident now I'm going to do the same test with the Audi but this time keep it in second gear right so I've let Louis Dr his top he's in the back of the Q7 so what's it like back there uh I prefer the Tesla okay right so cruising 30 m hour you got your cup of water yeah right so we're just Cruise along just mind your own business for now and then I'm just going to suddenly take off what's happened you got a little bit wet wasn't that bad actually really yeah ah damn it finally we come to the braking test the Tesla weighs 2,450 kg while the Audi 2330 kg plus it benefits from £8,000 worth of carbon ceramic brakes now what I'm going to do is get up to 70 M an hour we're both going to be cruising along and when we reach that cone up there we're going to do a full emergency breake and see which car stops in the shortest distance so approaching the cones now no way no way wasn't expecting that at all look at that what's that 3 m 2 m 3 m well the Tesla broke in the shortest distance and with that the Tesla claims another win and a clean sweep in every test it really is an impressive machine if you enjoyed this video please like it share it and subscribe to our Channel and click on the video windows for more videosI'm in a Tesla Model x100d that is an Audi sq7 and I
