artworks the private collection of barry skolnik now behind me here we have not one but two apollo ies this is the orange dragon barry's newest addition to the collection and today we are going to experience it we're going to be meeting up with barry getting this brought into life the v12 is going to be screaming away and then we're going to hop on board to go for a ride to experience the apollo ie we are very spoiled then to have the two cars sitting here side by side the orange dragon being the first of the ten customer cars that was delivered the prototype behind that i've actually seen at various different events around the world now finished in saturn black and then joining all of the other cars that make up barry's collection a stunning venue literally a museum a gallery with all of the cars with the artworks like the gorilla just here too but let's take this car in the apollo ie it is by far and away the most aggressive and menacing car that i think will ever be driven on the roads only 10 of them in total i was lucky actually to film with the apollo team before the car was actually revealed and since then like i said i've chased this car around the world filming with it in italy in saudi arabia and now out here in the usa as well that car is now set in black this car of course has the bespoke colour scheme the orange paintwork with exposed areas of the carbon fibre body the dark orange tinted carbon that you have around the side but the design the aerodynamics are inspired by nature by insects by animals and you can see some of those shapes you come around towards the back and look at the sheer scale of this rear wing you can tell the aerodynamic intent from the beginning down here as well at the diffuser the exposed nature of the rear sections of the tires look at that exhaust system the three different sections that you have to it this car is an unbelievable thing to behold to be standing there to actually look at and take in and this is before we bring it into life and mark my words when we fire it up it sounds like nothing else a naturally aspirated v12 a glorious glorious sound and that is before we get it out on the roads it's connected to a sequential automated gearbox which is well quite an aggressive thing i believe so apollo ie let's catch up with barry get this started up and take it on out we're joined then today by barry how the latest arrival the apollo i.e putting a smile on your face every time you see it absolutely absolutely this car has exceeded certainly my expectations by far i think it's something so very different from any other car it truly is uh this was uh this was really quite an undertaking by norman ryan and the team and uh they have as far as i'm concerned have exceeded far exceeded uh my expectations and perhaps even your own because you've been involved with the project as well since the very beginning really since the very beginning um i when they first sort of put it out there i jumped on it i started to write ryan right away and you know just let him know that i'm one to be part of this and i'm super excited for sure and who can blame you when you see it here now the finished the finished result and the turntable absolutely listen it was you know it was a little bit of a um you know sort of uh you know a challenge i guess you know not knowing you know uh what actually might you know come of it and as i said to him this has far exceeded my expectations and you've driven it already a few times i have driven a few times it's uh it's a it's a race car yep let's not let's not uh you know you know this is not just something you would casually drive on the street although you can and it is legal in many countries um except that uh it's you have to you drive this car yeah you have to be aware of what you're doing absolutely so can we take a look at the interior absolutely open up the doors the goal wing doors so there's a button on the underside just there gently going door up and then you are literally sat right down almost straight absolutely it's it's very much like a formula one car you're almost sort of like fully stretched out and laying down and then just looking around the screen is cool as well how you've got the iconic logo in the center your name down at the bottom and then these flanking screens on either side which are the rear the door mirror cameras aren't they that yes that's correct just inside here this is it's a work of art as much as the fit and finish you know from the hinges of really special you know just just the placement of everything is just uh really well engineered you know this car was built by hwa and uh they don't mess around yeah they definitely don't tell yourself quite some history as well this is this is german engineering at its best all righty then well i imagine it's probably not the easiest thing to uh to climb on in but i think if it's okay with you we should take a listen it looks nice and snug very much race car but now i guess it's time to uh to fire it up okay so there's a bit of a process oh yep there we go ignition on let me come around to the back and let me prepare to cover my ears because i know how loud this is going to be so i'm ready when you are okay um i think having a conversation it's not very easy now that sounds incredible so the start lever was actually that on top and obviously it's not a sequential wow right i'm gonna take the car out get it outside and then um and then i'm gonna hop on the sound of this is so ferociously thunderous in here it is just booming and now we're taking it outside this car going out into the daylight wow look at the wing driving with the goldwing door up very cool oh look at all the cameras as well on the screens that's cool now that the car is outside it is time to hop on in the door is already popped open this up it's very very loud we've got harnesses to be held in as well wow okay so the technique climbing on in here this is definitely a difficult one i think maybe one leg in sit down shuffle in that's definitely a challenging car to climb into yes it is how's this okay so we've got the full racing harnesses oh you've got a screen up here yeah this is the ac controller right here okay you see that just that's really cool up on the roof along with many of the controls here right i need to put my camera down while i try and work out how to get belted in which is not the easiest thing to do in this car all right we're getting somewhere this was not easy no never is ready yeah ready thank you and we're inside okay let me grab this wow i mean the vibrations and the noise and the drama is it dead it's yes literally intense emotionally intense from the word go with this car and then okay you've got the ac going you got somebody yeah we need it out here in miami yes we need it this is this is where we put with the uh sequential gearbox when you drop it into gear we kind of get a slap don't we yeah i mean we'll just go for a little ride okay that is insane look at this look at that view out into the sunshine the gearbox wine is awesome this is like this reminds me immediately of clk gtr 911 gt1 wow wow wow wow wow this is instantly one of the coolest cars i have ever been in in my life thank you okay i feel like i'm in a race car i genuinely genuinely feel like i'm in a race car right now this does not feel like a road car i love this i can see why you love it i think he needs some concentration right not an easy car to uh to pilot i mean this is just wow no words needed at all in here this is the modern era clk gtr that's what this is that's why i the downshift banks are awesome goodness goodness me camera phone's out yeah the guy next to us did a second ago as well you don't see a car like this on the road slow normally no i mean if you and most people wouldn't necessarily know what this is there are only ten of them seeing it would be the craziest thing that downshift is so angry and ferocious wow that's probably one of my favorite bits yeah i mean it might be cliche it's called the intenser emotionally intense emotion but it literally is very very very intense emotion being inside this car and the drama back there of the wing as well look at that shape got all of these cues as well the door grabs the attention to detail in here is actually awesome all of the parts the seat pads we're sitting in you feel cocooned in to this perfect shaped canopy the key itself tucks in just here storage even some usb ports all the good stuff yeah just here yeah there is two right there the dashboard design all fits with the exterior controls for suspension lights steering wheel basically race car steering wheel this is this is quickly shot to very high on my list of favorite cars there are so many noises mechanical voices all around but they're noises you're supposed to hear because race car oh we're just driving in normal traffic imagine what these cameras are thinking must be so confused i'm not sure it would be that comfortable for a long-distance drive the seat's comfortable but the noise would probably need air defenders or something eventually that noise is intoxicating so solid on the ground i'm just and back we arrived well that was one of the best experiences ever all i can say is thank you because that was truly special awesome actually i'm just getting a little bit more used to it myself yeah i can imagine it truly is what's a car what an experience and then and then silence that's that's dramatic that is an intense emotional experience and wow what a car it is too thank you so very much oh you're welcome tim it's really quite a quite an experience no doubt about it it is time for me to reverse the process and try and climb out of here which again is not the easiest thing there we go just about managed pull the trailing leg out but wow wow this car if you can call it a car i don't think you really can is though on the orange dragon now you can see the hydraulic jack points as well well the ie is now back on the turntable after that driving experience and well we've said it quite a few times but
