Maybe This WASN'T The Best Choice - My First Smartwatch

My First Experience with the Withings Steel HR Sport Smartwatch

As a young traveler, I have always been interested in technology and gadgets that can make my life easier and more enjoyable. Recently, I decided to get my first smartwatch, the Withings Steel HR Sport, which was a bit pricey but seemed like a good investment for me. After some research and consideration, I settled on this watch over other options like the Apple Watch Series 4, mainly because it was more affordable and had some features that appealed to me.

One of my initial concerns about smartwatches is their battery life. The Withings Steel HR Sport claims to last up to 25 days, but I have found that this claim is actually pretty accurate with my watch. During my first watch, I got 24 days until the battery reached 2%. However, there was a hiccup when the watch was stuck at 100% for about 10 days due to an issue with its connectivity.

One of the features that drew me to this smartwatch is its fitness tracking capabilities. The Withings Steel HR Sport comes with a variety of sensors and algorithms that allow it to track my physical activity, including distance traveled, calories burned, and even my sleep patterns. I have been using this watch regularly, and it has been doing a great job in tracking my activities. For instance, during one of my weightlifting sessions, the watch failed to record my heart rate, but all other times were properly recorded.

Another feature that impressed me is the health app that comes with the watch. This app allows me to track my daily and weekly summaries, as well as monitor my progress towards achieving certain fitness goals. It also reminds me to review my sleep performance every morning, which has been helpful in identifying any potential issues. The watch's auto-brightness feature has also been useful, especially during workouts when I can set the screen to always be on.

One of the things that sets this smartwatch apart from others is its design and build quality. The Withings Steel HR Sport is made of a durable material called titanium, which gives it a premium feel and look. The watch's small size makes it comfortable to wear, even during extended periods of activity.

In terms of connectivity, the watch has a circular screen that allows me to access various apps and features on the go. One of my favorite features is the ability to set vibrations for phone calls, which ensures that I don't miss any important notifications when I'm in motion. The watch also integrates with my credit card activity, so I can track my purchases on the go.

However, there are a few areas where this smartwatch falls short. For instance, the vibration intensity is quite weak, making it difficult to feel the watch vibrate for certain alerts or notifications. Additionally, the text displayed on the screen can be hard to read quickly, especially during fast-paced conversations.

Overall, my experience with the Withings Steel HR Sport has been positive so far. I have not had any major issues with the watch, aside from one instance where it failed to record my sleep cycles. The watch's features and design have exceeded my expectations, and I am happy with my purchase decision. If you're considering getting a smartwatch for fitness tracking or other purposes, I would definitely recommend giving this model a try.

Conclusion

In conclusion, my experience with the Withings Steel HR Sport has been a positive one. The watch's features, design, and build quality have exceeded my expectations, making it an excellent choice for anyone looking to track their physical activity and stay connected on the go. While there are some minor issues with the watch, such as the weak vibration intensity and difficulty reading text quickly, these can be addressed with a bit of patience and understanding.

As I continue to use this smartwatch, I am excited to explore more of its features and capabilities. One of my next steps is to resume my running activities and track my progress using this watch. I am also interested in exploring the other features that come with the health app, such as monitoring my sleep patterns and achieving certain fitness goals.

"WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: enhello young traveler is time importantto you no but step sorrythe steel HR sport is my very firstSmartWatch I looked into getting theApple watch series 4 but that was a bittoo pricey and the fact that has to berecharged every two days or so was justa complete write-off it's not somethingthat I want to worry about and thisthing is supposed to last for 25 days itsounds like I'm an easy man to satisfybut the journey with this hybrid is oneI'm excited to share did you bring thestuff I sure didit's so compact this brushed aluminumplates floating 1/2 high keycaps MXcherry low profile which is a Type Cconnection and comes in different sizes- the cooler master SK series carefulnot to missing links below so this thinghas travelled a bit with me and I'mpretty happy that I bought one its linkdescription below if you are interestedalso my very first watch had a massivewhite fiber on the black screen so rightthere and visible I had again thatreplaced via Amazon while the secondwatch the replacement one was stuck atthe hundred percent of battery life forlike a whole week and after a firmwareupdate only then start to decline so itwasn't like smooth sailing for Withingsfor the two models this is thereplacement one but it's been prettysolid since so it connects to yoursmartphone via bluetooth and catches thetime from your smartphone hassle-freetimezone switching if you travel a lotso that's pretty awesome and the onlyphysical interaction you have is theside button to see your time your heartbreak distance and battery life orselect a particular workout one of mymain goals of getting watched like thiswas to highlight any loopholes that thehalf of my physical activity given Ispent so much time in front of thecomputer editing videos and that is wellthe second small face at the bottom ofthe watch shows that is my daily goalstep counter I set it to 10,000 and atthe glance I can see how inactive my dayhas been sometimes I go to sleep withlike 2,000 steps on the watch and thatsucks but it's also a good reminder andrealization that I need to be moreactive and the fact that that reminderson the wrist and not somewhere in theapp is a good thing it's that furtherencouragement that I think many peoplewould appreciate you do get a starnotification on the watch once the dailygoal is hit and the game of finding thewhole overall activity is how youget sucked into it I also wantedsomething a bit more practical foreveryday wear like a low profile bodythat there's 40 millimeters in size withan elegant face and this watch meetsthat requirement pretty well and it'sespecially a nice departure from thereally bulky almost ankle house-arrestg-shock watch that I used to wear andthat broke as soon as it passed the2-year warranty period so kind of suckson the g-shock as for the watch faceI love the font but the red plus withinthe logo is slightly mismatchedto the red tips on the hour and minutehands the watch face does not illuminateand darkness but you can always checktime with the press of button so thatthe round screen while small is abrilliant design that makes this afantastic hybrid I like the overalldesign but eibar finds it a little bittoo bland so let me know if you'd wearsomething like it for $199 I feel thevalue is there for a beautiful watchwith a really really long list offeatures so first of all the watch iswaterproof up to 50 meters you canshower with ityou can swim with it but the top rubberlayer on the silicone default straps hasworn out in just three weeksthe replacement straps are easy to swapwith good color options available I gotthe leather one to match my iPhone caseand then blue silicone one to much myanother blue case but they are quiteexpensive ranging from 25 to 50 bucksthe watch is a very accurate stepscounter and since I never take it offall of my activity is being recordedversus like having my phone leftsomewhere else and those steps are notcounted so this way everything is in theapp we have heart rate monitoringthroughout the entire day and one secondinterval when the workout is enabledit's especially useful if you're tryingto train to hit a particular heart rateintensity during your workout the watchalso tracks your sleep with a breakdownof light and deep sleep and eveninterruptions and heart rates throughoutthe night it does not detect sleep lowerthan three hours so my naps are notrecorded probably a good thing toeliminate any evidence of sleep duringworking hours and let's say your day tonight cycle is shifted or switched itdoes not matter as long as you sleepmore than three hours that sleep will berecorded it can measure distancetraveled when connected to your phone'sGPS itcan send vibrations and visual alertsfor all types of apps via that circularscreen I have mine enabled to vibratefor phone calls so when my phone is onsilent I can still feel them comingthrough so I don't miss them and all mycredit-card activity goes onto my watchwhich is kind of cool we'll never make apurchase online or in-store the amountshows up on the watch it's not verycomfortable to read fast-moving text forlet's say SMS notifications but that'sobviously an option and many many othersmy only complaint would be the vibrationintensity as it's quite weak so it'seasy to miss if something is vibratingfor a phone call for example if I'm inmotion but if I'm standing still I cansense it a little vibration and the coolthing is you can set the watch tovibrate as an alarm clock but I'm a deepsleeper and it's never been able to wakeme up the screen auto brightness is verygood but at harsh sunlight it's hard tosee what's on the screen and forworkouts you can set your five favoritesthat you can access on the watch andlong press to activate that workout andduring this time the screen is always onso you can see real time heart ratecalories and any other info based onthat activity and the other part of thisexperience is the health mate app whichI would say is pretty fantastic for bothAndroid and iOS you can see all yourdaily and weekly summaries andoccasional achievements - based on thedistance covered and I review my sleepperformance every morning and it helpsto kind of remind me if there'ssomething going off wrong if I'm notgetting enough deep sleep or my heartrate is too highand so I can monitor that and be awareof something that's happening andpotentially make changes and alsobecause the watch is quite small I'venever had any issues sleeping with itit's pretty comfortable as for batterylife their claim of 25 days is actuallypretty correct with my first watch I had24 days until 2% while the second onebecause of that whole hiccup with itbeing stuck at the hundred-percent forlike 10 days I'm 22 days in and I'mstill at 29 percent of battery so I'mnot sure if - it will die before it hitszero but so far it's going strong and itrecharges very quickly by the way withthis magnetic base my next steps withthe watch is to resume my runningactivities and having it doesn't forceme into anything but it's like asubtle reminder to be more cautiousabout your physical activity andpotentially in the long term bring morebalance and some concluding issues I'vehad with the watch only once I've had itwhen they did not record my sleep cyclesso half the night was just not presentfor some reason heartbreak during myweightlifting session was not recordedonce while all others was properlyrecorded and sometimes the watch is notconnected to the app or it can't find itbut a restart of the app helps toresolve all those issues and this is myfirst ever SmartWatch so I can't reallycomment on what's it's missing based onthe competition but based on myexperience with it I would say it is arecommendation from me and so that is myexperience with a steel HR sport it hasnot come off since getting the firstmodel so that says something and I wouldlove to hear your thoughts on this wholeactivity tracker and it being sort ofbuilt into this elegant chassis thatlives on your wrist I'm happy with minebut let me know what your thoughts andwhat is missing here I would love tohear your opinion if you're intosmartwatches physical trackers and allthat stuffI'm 3-3 thanks much for watching checkout this other relevant content andwe'll see you in the next videostay health my friends stay healthy\n"
