Baked Potatoes Every Day: A Balanced Diet is Crucial
Hannah's diet has been a subject of concern, with her eating baked potatoes every day. It's clear that she's not getting enough variety in her diet, and protein deficiency might be a major issue. A balanced diet with a mix of nutrients is essential for overall health and well-being. Protein, in particular, plays a vital role in maintaining muscle mass and energy levels.
Good Morning to Hannah
Hannah greeted me with a smile, saying she was very well. However, it's clear that her diet has been a restrictive one, with an emphasis on vegetables and vitamin C. A balanced diet is crucial, and protein is a key component of any healthy meal. When asked about her last meat consumption, Hannah replied that it had been three and a half years ago. This lack of variety in her diet might be affecting her overall health.
The Zoo Effect
Hannah mentioned that she started eating at the zoo, which gave her a different perspective on animal treatment and the type of meat she consumes. She always opted for organic meat when available. Bobby, the Silverback griller, is an example of how a healthy balanced diet can work wonders. His story is an inspiration to us all.
Lunchtime Prep
As lunchtime approached, Hannah and I headed into the kitchen to prepare food for Bobby and the other animals. This was our cutting up room, where we would prep ingredients for the day's meals. We had a variety of fruits and vegetables, including lettuce, cabbage, card, lemon peel, allspice, avocados, and more.
Avocado Delights
We discussed serving avocado as part of the meal, highlighting its essential fatty acids. Hannah expressed interest in having guacamole made with the avocados. We also offered a range of other options, including prawns, crab, spinach, chickory, fennel, iceberg lettuce, and broccoli.
Baby Gem Lettuce
I jokingly told Hannah that we had an abundance of baby gem lettuce, which she playfully replied would be enough for the restaurants. I reassured her that we wouldn't let any food go to waste.
Cooking with Bobby's Ingredients
To show Hannah that all the ingredients down at the zoo were equally exciting for her, we created a dish using some of the same ones she feeds Bobby The Gourmet griller. We started by preparing carrots and cabbage, which are packed with vitamins and fiber. These vegetables provide a delicious crunch to the dish.
Quick Vinegrette
We made a quick vinegarette using olive oil, sesame seeds, mustard, and lemon juice. This dressing helps break down the collagen in the meat, making it tender and flavorful. The poppy seeds added a great contribution to the daily calcium needs.
A Wild Card for Hannah
Hannah had had enough of her balanced but boring gluten-free diet and was ready to try something new. She would be having a protein-rich steak as part of our cooking demonstration. We chose an organic beef, reared on grass in the summer and sweds in the winter. This type of beef is truly the epitome of organic farming.
Taragon Dressing
We prepared a spicy marinade using shalot, taragon, and lemon juice. This dressing would make Hannah's first fillet steak in years easier to enjoy. As we cooked the steak, it absorbed all the amazing flavors of the marinade.
A Delicious Finish
Finally, we finished the dish with coriander, which added a warm and aromatic flavor. The dish was now complete, and we couldn't wait for Hannah to try it. She had been hesitant about trying red meat, but I reassured her that she would enjoy the flavors and textures.
Fueling Bobby's Energy
As we cooked, I couldn't help but think of Bobby's incredible energy levels. He looked like a hard-as-nails individual, and I wondered what fuel actually kept him going. We discussed using salmon as an alternative protein source for Hannah, which might be more to her liking. However, I assured her that the dish would still provide all the necessary nutrients she needed.
