Booktube Mail and Buddy Reads: A Tag of Appreciation

Have you ever mailed a book to another booktuber? I have, and I've lost count of how many times I've done so. I've been part of several book clubs and swaps, including the World Book Club, which was based on Litzy's idea. In this club, we would mail books to each other, and I do that fairly regularly. Sometimes, I'll buy a book thinking it might appeal to someone on my list, and then I'll "snoop" around to see if they already have it. I'm completely fine with being a book fairy – I think it's cool!

Have you ever received mail from another booktuber? I've lost count of how many times I've received books in the mail, but I can remember a few instances where it was especially exciting. One time, I met someone from Books to Gramm at a book signing and we ended up talking for hours about books and grad school. More recently, I had a meet-up with Robert from Butter Hordes at the Decatur Book Festival, along with other authors and podcasters. It was great to see so many people in one place who share my passion for reading.

Do you do buddy reads? I always do buddy reads with Autumn, my co-host on our book podcast, Reading Women. We discuss two books every month, and sometimes we'll choose a book that we've already read but think the other person would enjoy. This month, Autumn is reading "Well, I'd be happy" – which I read last year. In another buddy read, I'm teaming up with Shawn over at The Book Maniac. We both love slow-burn reads and literary fiction, so it's been great to discuss books that we agree on.

I also do buddy reads with Jacqueline over at 6 Minutes for Me. She's really insightful, and we have a great time discussing books together. One of the things I love about our buddy reads is that we don't have any schedules or expectations – just a willingness to chat and share our thoughts. We've done some fantastic reads together, including "The Book of Em." I also recently finished a buddy read with Russell over at Income Per Blog. He's incredibly smart, and his perspective on the books we're reading is always fascinating.

Buddy Reads: A Fun Way to Connect with Fellow Readers

In addition to mailing books to each other, I've also used booktubers as a way to connect with fellow readers. One of my favorite ways to meet new people is at book festivals and signings. Recently, I met Robert from Butter Hordes and Autumn from Reading Women at the Decatur Book Festival. It was great to see so many authors and podcasters in one place who share my love of reading.

I've also been lucky enough to visit other booktubers' homes – or at least, meet up with them in person. One time, I met Jacqueline over at 6 Minutes for Me, and we ended up talking for hours about books and life. It was so great to see her in person and chat about our shared love of reading.

A Tag of Appreciation: Let's Connect!

I've been thinking a lot about the booktubing community lately, and I wanted to do something special to connect with all of you. That's why I'm doing this tag – a simple way for us to show appreciation for each other and our shared love of reading. If you haven't already done this tag, don't worry – it's easy! Just follow these steps:

1. Take some time to think about your favorite booktubers.

2. Tag them in this post (or send them a personal message).

3. Let them know that you're doing the tag and invite them to join in.

That's it! I hope you'll take part in this tag and connect with fellow readers who share your passion for books.

"WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: enhello friends my name is Kendra Winchester welcome back to my channel welcome back to our corner and today we doing a tag for you so I was tagged by Robert over at barter to do the booktube community tag and I am not sure where this tag originated but I will put that down the show notes as long as all of the questions so if you would like to do this tag you can just copy paste and have the questions right there so so let's start with the first question and this question is how long have you been watching booktube I would say since the spring of 2016 I started watching jaws because I worked for Litzy and got into booktube some way through that and then I did a profile on jaws over squibbles reads and Simon over at savage reads for letís like profile page stuff and so that's kind of how that happened and I was watching for mmm six to eight months before I started my own channel second question is how long have you been a booktuber and so I started my channel I think around January 1st I know Robert said that he stirred his channel on January 1st and I was thinking I think I started mine on January 1st or maybe I set it up I know I set it up on Year's Eve but I don't think I posted until later that week when we got back from Kentucky so somewhere around the new year I just consider the new year my booktube adversary' because i did spend several hours trying to figure out how how it worked the next ghost mystery long and it says how many countries are represented on your subscriber list and how many countries are represented among the book tubers whose channels you subscribe I looked at my analytics and it says my top countries are the United States the United Kingdom Romania Canada and Australia so primarily english-speaking countries plus Romania I love you Romania thank you for watching so I I don't I think that's kind of interesting English speaking countries Romania so maybe it's because I recently held a Romanian book that would be cool I don't really know that's really all it tells me I'm sure if I went into the bowels of the create your studio system I could find something else but I'm not sure question four describe how you handle your comment section do you have regular conversations with certain people yes I usually sit down for a given length of time and just respond to all the comments and then I'll sit down again a few days later and respond to all the comments I've gotten so far I really like to do them all at once because it's just easier for me so I'm not thinking about these comments all the time and so I do answer most of the comments if it's just like a comment like I love this video I'll like it but if they're actually starting a conversation then yes definitely I respond to those comments obviously don't respond to trolls I delete those and spam but other than that yeah because I really love talking to all of you and some of you have then joined booktube so I was friends with Jaclyn because she was a regular commenter and then she started her own channel so I really liked how that worked out version 5 is do you act interact with other booktubers on social media and so what and the answer is yes all of the things I am on Goodreads and Instagram and Twitter and it depends on who the booktuber is and some booktubers have a more of a presence on Twitter or booktubers might have more of a presence on Instagram I would say I interact more with books two grammars on Instagram and booktubers on Twitter but some people do both YouTube and books to Graham but I do have all the bookish social medias question six is do rely on some booktubers for recommendations I don't really go to one specific person for overall general recommendations I actually will pick up a book based on several reviews there are some people though who are particularly good at a certain type of book so for example during Campbell's amazing with poetry as well as many other things but I'm not as familiar with poetry so I go to her channel for poetry recommendations some book tubers really focus on why a books rustle over income paper blog really loves like indie books which is really cool and lesser-known books question a is with your tag videos if you tag the same people or do you mix it up I don't really do a lot of tag videos but and by the time I do tag video usually everyone and their mother's brother has already done that tag video so I don't know who to tag so sometimes I will hide people if I think they haven't already done it I just don't even know so the person I was planning on tagging just did posted this tag video like two days ago so that's why I'm gonna be tagging all of you prepare yourselves question 9 is have you ever mail the book to another booktuber and that is yes I have and I've lost the number of times that I have said books to other booktubers I have mail people other books to grammar other booktubers we've done book swaps and I'm also in and around the world book club which was based on Litzy and so we were all were put into this book group and you mail the book to the next person so I do that fairly regularly and sometimes I will buy a book thinking oh this person will like it and then do a little snooping and see if they have it so I did that recently I'm fine with being a book fairy I think that's cool and the question 10 is have you ever received a mail from another booktuber I already answered that question and in question 11 is have you ever visited or been visited by another booktuber so weirdly enough the first person I met from the book tour net was I met them randomly at a book signing and she was from books to Graham last for his booktube I met Robert he is over at barter horse we met in readville we talked forever at em jedson it was great I loved him Jensen and so we just talked about you know books and grad school and just a lot of things and then also we had this meet up recently at the Decatur Book Festival and we had books two grammars we had Doris from all the books and Robert from butter hordes and autumn my co-hosts for reading women so we had representation from Twitter books to Gramm enjoy reading so for example this month we're talking about well I'd be happy we'd be normal and I read that last year but autumn run it for the podcast anyway I also do the Fed buddy reads with Shawn over at the book maniac he and I do not agree on most books oh we have a vein of stylistic more slow-burn reads and that is where our little diagrams line up and overlap and include the books that we also enjoyed together we're gonna be buddy reading outlined by Rachael tusks first in her trilogy absolute I'm doing a buddy read with Jacqueline over at 6 minutes for me we're doing that unboxer and I really love buddy reading with Jacqueline because she's so insightful and also she that is fine with rabbit trails at getting distracted like I'm pretty sure she'd heard me say well I need to go and feed Dylan he wants his lunch or whatever like 5 billion times or I have to stop in the middle because Dylan's barking because the mailman's here or whatever and it's usually chill there's no schedules and at the end you know we have such insightful conversations and we've also buddy read the book of em which is fantastic so I think we're on a roll I've also buddy read a book with Russell over an income pay per blog I love buddy reading with Russell as well because again he's so smart and he just has a different perspective and is able were able to pull things out of the book that we might not have then otherwise and then of course he doesn't mind me kind of obsessing because we tend to read more literary fiction and so I make these little documents and he's like oh that's good catch rat he's just like uh-huh he's really nice so I appreciate that so I've made some great friends on booktube and so it's been cool to do that I don't want buddy read too often though and maybe do a buddy read per quarter I've talked about buddy reads for like five minutes now so I'm going to stop all right so tag some friends now everyone as I said is pretty much already done this tag if you
