we're gonna take them all out of the box and take a look at them see what you get what the coolers look like how much they weigh and what my initial impressions of them are I have never done this before I've done a variety of unboxing videos on my channel I've done a variety of video cart unboxing videos I have never done a five-card $4000 unboxing there will be a which r-tx 20/80 should you buy video at some point in the future that's not this necessarily this sort of a preview of that I will have all of these benchmark I'll do temperature noise and clock speed and overclocking test to see if there's any discernible difference between these cards I've done that in the past in various videos some of the most popular videos I've done in fact were which 1060 should you buy which 1070 which are X 580 etc so I will be doing a comparison on these to see which one of these you should buy we'll talk a little bit in this video about should you buy one at all I will briefly cover the RT X 2080 what it is etc and then we will take all these out of the boxes lay them out on the desk and give you a nice close look at them before we get to all that linked in the video description below will be a number of links to Amazon Newegg and ebay for these and the ten series cards that they replace new and used those are affiliate links using those while shopping does support the channel and considering that none of these cards were product samples yes I really did pay or rather I should say visa paid four thousand dollars to buy all these cards so I could do this and many other videos I would appreciate your support if you can use those while shopping thank you that's much better I have some room to work now before we open these cards a quick primer and overview on what's new in the RT X xx series of cards first of all they are not GT x cards they are RT x cards gtx 2060s and 2050s will be coming but these are RT x cards with rate racing technology the GTX name traces back to the summer of 2005 so it has been just over 13 years since GTX noted the top-end or high performing cards from Nvidia it didn't become the exclusive name of most of their cards until more recently than that but it has been around for a very long time but now we have something new RTX and yes it does stand for ray tracing technology there are two new kinds of processing cores on these that are not on the ten series and this part's very important the actual ray tracing or RT cores themselves and then tensor cores tensor course are not ray tracing cores that are different there are actually two new kinds of cores in addition to the CUDA cores that we've had going all the way back to the 8000 series more than ten years ago the ray tracing cores do exactly what they sound like they rate race they basically do the search and the drawing and the lines and they're very dedicated hardware in that regard the tensor course support the ray tracing they had to be put in there in order to make the ray tracing Hardware work but they could possibly serve other uses and there are some other reasons they're in there besides just ray tracing how much of the arti cores and tensor cores actually get used outside of ray tracing remains to be seen for the moment they really aren't being used and so most of the benchmarks you're gonna see at the moment and throughout 2018 and even into early 2019 are mostly going to be based on the CUDA cores they're gonna be using the same technology that's been used for years and years and years now these cards do have more cores and faster cores and updated cores compared to older cards but it's just an iteration of the same technology a large amount of die space has been set aside for the new r-tx technologies which is why when you look at the performance of these cards they may not on the surface seemed Remender tremendously faster than the existing cards that say the 1080 Ti they will in time I believe that the gap in these will grow once those technologies are better utilized it's similar to instruction sets when a new chip comes out with new added instructions new processing instructions when for example the original MMX technologies came out from the Pentium back in the 1990s they didn't really make a big difference to performance for a couple of years until they did it maybe a couple of years before we see this stuff really show up in games it will probably one or two more cards down the line and we'll talk about that whether it's worth waiting maybe for the second or third generation of rotation technology to jump on board if you currently have a 1080 or 1080 Ti do I recommend you rush right out and buy one of these no not really if on the other hand you have a 980 TI or a 980 or perhaps a 1060 or 1070 depending upon what your goals and needs are maybe these do make sense well that's all well and good you say but who should really go out and buy one of these who is an RT X 2080 for 1080p 144 Hertz triple-a gaming 1440p 60 to 100 Hertz triple-a gaming at high to ultra detail and 4k 60 Hertz high to ultra detail gaming if you want to play shadow of the Tomb Raider Assassin's Creed Odyssey Far Cry 5 if you want to play the newest and latest Triple A games and you want to do so at any of those settings high to ultra detail at those resolutions and frame rates these cards are for you possibly what's on my test bench back there is for you that is the 2080 ti back there that's currently being prepared for the I $9.99 hundred K benchmark series but that'll be covered in its own video that card by the way is 50% more money for about 30% more performance which I know a lot of people are gonna say well that's not a deal actually that's not a bad deal at all that is the fastest gaming graphics card sold in the world today and it's really not a huge price premium you always pay a premium to be the best to be on the top of the market and to only be a 50% premium for a 30 percent performance jump is incredibly reasonable doubt that go price first-class airline tickets cars purses watches go see how expensive octree watch is that's actually quite reasonable all things considered but I understand that most people are not in the market for 1200 our graphics cards in fact most of you are probably not going to be in the market for an 800 or card as of right now these haven't done a lot to push down the prices of the 10 series it probably will take sometime into next year with AMD's release of na'vi the 7 nanometre card coming next year to really start pushing prices down so if you're waiting for a price drop six months eight months somewhere in there before we really see something that's going to move prices if you can wait well you'll always well I say always you will generally get a better deal unless cryptocurrency mining comes back when that was around in January of last year graphics card prices went nuts who knows if it comes back at January of this year 800 for these might seem incredibly reasonable we'll have to see now the very first question some of you may be ready to run down to the comment section below and ask is wait a minute all those numbers you just gave me they sound exactly like what a gtx 1080 TI is recommended for why wouldn't i go buy one of those they're cheaper you'd be correct the GTX 10 atti is only maybe 5% slower than these cards it's a very very small margin not a huge one not one that I'd personally worry about the GTX 1080 Ti is less expensive right now new cards are about $100 less expensive then these are 700 versus 800 no brainer then go buy one of those well maybe but keep in mind that you're buying two year old technology the 10 series launched in the summer of 2016 we're now in the fall of 2018 that does not make those cards bad overnight that doesn't make it obsolete overnight but there will come a point in the next couple of years where Nvidia scales back development of GTX technology and pushes and pushes and pushes the new r-tx technology there will come a point at where these continue to get regular support and game optimizations and driver updates and improvements and the 10 series does not now that may very well be three years from now that that's not going to be next year don't don't remotely think that I saying that in a year they're gonna stop development cuz that's not true but it will come at some point if you're buying a card that you want to keep for three to five years I'd buy an RT X 2080 if you tend to buy cards every two years get a GTX ten atti in the next two years I don't think the art the RT X technology will matter too much and I don't think driver development next two years is really going to be curtailed much on the 10 series 9 series 900 series yes but the 10 series no but if you want to keep your card for 3 to 5 years the extra hundred dollars may get you better drivers in 3 years than the 10 series would get you and that's not bad at least it's worth considering in any case now there's one big wrench in that plan you can buy used 1080 T eyes for about five hundred to five hundred and fifty dollars on ebay that's what those links in the description or down there for a 1080 Ti at five hundred beats the pants off an RT X 20 80 for 800 but that's a used card possibly a mind card for a cryptocurrency mining versus a brand new in box never touched never used warrantied card they're not directly comparable but I understand why somebody might consider those to be deals because after all if they work on the first day you use them they'll probably work for several years to come so in general the performance is similar but if you're buying new and you want to keep them 100 our price premium for the latest and greatest technologies that might give you a little bit of future proofing that's not bad one more thing before we unbox these cards you can see I have some CPUs in front of me we have the brand new I $9.99 hundred K and then the Rison 720 700 X now I mentioned before that the RT X xx atti is on the 9900 K for its launch benchmarks fastest graphics cards in the world for the fastest CPU in the world you don't necessarily have to buy an I 999 hundred K to get use out of these chips however out of these graphics cards it depends upon what you're doing so let me give you some very specific advice if you're playing at 1080p and you have a 100 forty-four Hertz monitor and you consistently want to get 144 frames per second you want to be on Intel you want a high-end K chip an overclocked chip like the i9 if you're playing it 1440p and you have a 100 Hertz or 144 Hertz monitor either standard or ultra white and the same advice applies you want to be up there in frame rates by Intel 4k is an interesting thing because 4k 60 frames per second doesn't need a high-end clock speed chip because you're completely graphics card limited but on the flip side if you have the money for 4k gaming maybe you have the money for the fastest gaming CPU in the world which is the I $9.99 hundred K on the other hand at all three resolutions if you're happy with 60 frames per second then the Rison is fine rise in 720 700 or 2700 X frankly I'd recommend based on current prices we'll play all current games at 1080p 1440p or 4k at 60 Hertz smooth and stable without any complaint on the r-tx 2080 or the r-tx 2080 TI for that matter you don't need an i-9 to do it it's nice it is faster how much depends upon the circumstances resolution detail etc and what you're doing but you don't need it it's three hundred and fifty dollars more give or take with cooler motherboard and chip then the Rison 720 700 X is it worth the money that's a personal decision I'm kind of on the fence that if you're spending $1200 on a graphics card go ahead and get the i-9 if you're spending 800 it's a big big maybe because well it's a compromise choice it's a compromise choice but they're both really fast so don't take that to mean that they're bad just best almost the best before we open up any of these cards I want to give you guys a huge disclaimer all of these cards are based upon the launch PCB printed circuit board there's no customizations yet that will come in the amp extreme and the classified or the kingpin edition or the rogue Strix from a soos those will be later customized cards they're not here yet so out-of-the-box performance is going to be very very similar the clock speed differences between these cards our one or two percent two and a half percent at most sound noise temp is gonna be a much bigger difference and we'll take a look at those when I do the which one should you by comparison and I might redo it once customized expensive cards come out they're usually not worth the money for the performance they give you just because you want something flashy and fancy but when I take these out of the box what you should be looking for is size appearance brand preference some of these cards are longer some such as the gaming extra oh are taller and some such as the EVGA are thick so do you prefer a long tall or thick graphics card that's ultimately up to you but I'm gonna lay all these out I'll put them in each direction once we take them out of the box and you can see which one you prefer one of the things that I hope to do in my new filming studio is set up my unboxing area with a camera overhead although actually where the microphone is at the moment you can't see it but it's just right here would be in the way because it'd be really cool to double film these as I take items out of the box and be able to switch in post between the footage here and the footage overhead and show you that perspective we're not there yet but the hope is to get multiple camera angles when we do these that is a long card well that's pretty cool this shows you a logo on the box I guess it doesn't mean much but this is an unboxing video sort of an overview so we're gonna show you what these look like ZOTAC gaming full disclosure the card back down the testbench the 2080 TI is also ZOTAC i thought about unboxing it for this as well but it's identical to what's in here so why can we open it I want to take care of the boxes and keep them all in great shape so we can display them there ooh here we go yes this is identical to the 2080 I would expect that if you buy a 20 80 TI of any of these it will look exactly the same in the box the the circuit board designed the initial cards are all the same very nice very cool there is an envelope here that has no disk in it what do you need this for you're gonna go do in video dot-com and download the drivers anyway inside here is the number one gaming mini PC ah yes so Tech is advertising there's no Tech mini pcs maybe one of these days we'll talk them into sending me one for media systems for students going off to college and other limited space things a quick installation guide put the card in your computer and see what's in here yes that actually actually that's interesting this shows how to connect two different monitors televisions using DVI hdmi displayport and which adapters to use and how to get them to connect okay fair enough so tech got this right please make sure you have the latest geforce drivers download them at geforce comm quick side note if you have an older card in your system maybe not a ten series maybe a nine series if you have an AMD and Karndean your system don't just on yes you do have to uninstall the drivers don't just uninstall them I always use display driver uninstaller google it'll be the first thing in the menu display driver uninstaller does a good job of actually removing Oliver I need to do a video on that of removing vestiges of old drivers run it in safe mode hold down shift when you restart your computer go into troubleshooting it's like two or three different steps which is why I need to make a video on it but you ultimately want to restart in safe mode run it clean everything run it on Intel running on AMD running on an Nvidia and then reboot and then download the latest drivers once we take off the cardboard cover its foam but there are some nice things in here we have a six pin adapter this is honestly if you're spending $800 on a graphics card don't use adapters I would never ever use these it's not a knock again so tech I would use adapters for an $800 video card if you have $800 you have 50 or 60 for $70 to buy a decent power supply but this this is an adapter and this is another one to 6-pin to 1/8 pin but what you want to see is the graphics card oh I tore the bag taking it out boo that was my fault side note it didn't come out of the box when I turn it upside down but there's actually a plastic sleeve in there that is separate from the outside so there's actually three packages in one there's this outside cardboard box a plastic sleeve and then the cardboard box inside and when I dumped it it just didn't come out I tried pulling it out it didn't want it was really stuck in there but it's a printed sleeve and well I don't think you care but it's in there that is a card and a half Wow so tech gaming lived game I am so glad that they don't have a bunch of colors all over this if you want a black card that doesn't mess up your system here you go black black all black I do believe the ports are gonna be the same on all these cards so I'll go ahead and read them out to you now we've got a display port we've got three display ports and those should be one point for an HDMI 2.0 and then a USB 3.0 type-c connection for future expandability I don't think I'll have to look and see if that's I don't think that's a thunderbolt port I think that's for VR one thing that's nice about this card is it is no higher it's no taller in Z depth than the actual slot if you have a case that has plenty of length but not tons of height it'll fit very nicely now it is thicker than two slots so if by chance you want to put two of these together and then V link and I didn't mention that earlier because very few people are gonna do that the SLI connectors are gone it's n V link now it's different I'll cover that in a future video not now then you're gonna need slot spacing that being said I don't consider that to be a big deal any modern system worth putting - if these into is worth having motherboard that has proper slots a slot spacing 4nv link next up we have the assist dual fan overclocked edition this is actually the slowest clocked out of the box card as near as I can tell of any of these here by like one percent which you'll never notice I suspect that many of you would love to have seen the wrong Strix card here but the wrong Strix won't come until they do a custom PCB and probably to eight pin connectors so for now we have this but the benefit to this card and it'll be worth testing to see how well the noise and temps go this is also the smallest card on the desk and so if you have a confined case and want something smaller that isn't a monster like that ZOTAC this might be worth considering it also cost less which is a nice benefit it is very easy to say well this other card is three percent faster but if it's fifty dollars more expensive it isn't really the deal unless you just want the RGB and like most soos products these days it has their name in gold on it and it's in a cardboard box I know I know what's exciting that is why I'm doing all five of these in one video rather than stretching this out if I did five unboxing videos hello and welcome to tech deals here is the third 10 20 80 1080 20 80 that you've seen so far it would get boring some notes of oh that's interesting different packaging and some of you may want to see what you get in the box that is not in a bubble thing nuts and I okay the cardboard comes off that's different it's wrapped and plot that's unpacking steps okay now this might be overly complicated but there's a diagram unpacking steps packing steps a soos really that's overly complicated I guess I will follow the unpacking steps lift the flaps all right lift the flaps uh-oh fold down flat seriously I have to follow instructions to take this out Oh okay once you fold it flat then you can take this out I mean no it's not overly complicated but it's overly complicated but it's well protected fair enough holy okay this looks looks your subjective when it comes to graphics cards they are that is a lot of plastic shall we peel some plastic what's the best way to do this let's do the back let's do the back peel first everybody loves the back peel well okay not everybody loves the back peel there we go now this is interesting this doesn't mean much but there are protective plugs in each of the ports back here and the bottom golden fingers has a protector on it as well I'm actually gonna leave that on there because that's just smart the zotac card did not have these the zotac card did not have them on I did that did not have them on here or I'm just dropping things everywhere yeah I don't need to keep those and it oh that's interesting if they did not put protection on the golden fingers on the envy link but they put them here and they put it here fair enough let's peel some more plastic shall we now if you're watching this going who cares about the peeling of plastic that's one of the most requested things that get when I unbox things how come you don't show us the peeling of the plastic fine I will show you the peeling on the plastic I should get a nice I should put the microphone right next to it and do some ASMR video unboxing products for an hour ASMR problem is that would be an expensive one to do because you can only do this once one piece success I don't know if you can see that is not a two slot card that is a thick card this is thicker than the zotac but not as long two fans much shorter and so if you have height in this direction but you don't have distance and length in that direction do you want it longer okay okay I'll stop with that sorry the back is different take a look at the back this is not black on the back this is a white and black pattern which you will love or you will hate and then you can see the ax soos and chief force logos right there no RGB or anything fancy it's a launch card what do you want but we'll see what the temps and the noise are on this because if you want something of this size all jokes of size aside if you want something of this size in your case will it be loud will it be cool will it be quiet we'll find out so you can see the card here on the desk and I'll put them each here in secession before I put them all out that'll take some rearranging of everything it does come with a manual with basic instructions in a bajillion languages and a soos is including a CD well or a DVD I'm not sure which in addition to drivers that you should not use it also has their tweak utility a soos has their tweak overclocking utility you can use it me personally I use MSI Afterburner on all my cards what you use is up to you but they provide that next up we have the gigabyte gaming overclocked card they also have the wind force which is basically as far as I can tell the same card with a slightly lower boost clock speed get the gaming now they will have an aura sixth ream card with their horas branding at some point in the future but just like kingpin and rocks tricks those cards will be custom and will come out later and probably cost more money for now we have the gaming card well that came out nice and easily this one is also the first card that has RGB on it because the zotac and the asou do not the wrong Strix well and the amp extreme probably will this also follows the Giga bytes motif it's got the gigabyte logo in black glossy print so you can just there we go you can see it now it's a cardboard box you'll probably never look at it again that's nice let's hold that up same thing glossy gigabyte name I would give you my usual speech on quality products and quality pack these are $800 video cards frankly they could all probably use a little bit nicer packaging but it doesn't really matter yeah that kind of takes away from the fun of it once you take this off which is a cardboard box and in here is something yeah it's some foam anti-static bag graphics card not overly fancy what's in here this is almost certainly the least exciting driver CD that you should use as a coaster a quick guide that you should also use as a coaster or a scare which is ironic because it's not Norrish card but whatever four year warranty register online to extend product warranty to four years for free please complete the online registration within 30 days from the date blah blah blah just a side note for packaging this is all that's in this I mean that's a real box what's interesting is so far the zotac cart is the only one that came with adapters now I don't care because I would never use an adapter with any in there our graphics tray you could because it has an adapter to two 6-pin PCI Express to a single eight pin and it has an adapter from two 4-pin molex to a single six pin those technically work if you have a reasonably decent power supply I would not ever ever ever put an $800 graphics card on a bunch of adapters like that I just I wouldn't that's me I just I wouldn't I'm sure somebody out there is going to disagree with me but in my opinion when you can buy a nice 700 watt 80 plus gold power supply in the 75 to 85 dollar range or a 600 watt 80 plus bronze for 50 bucks that has all the proper connectors for modern motherboards and mono graphics cards I've replaced my power supply if I'm doing this oh no that's interesting what is was this on the end why does it have a boot on the end that I don't know so we can stand it up that's the darndest thing why is there a boot on the graphics card that is the weirdest thing our graphics card has shoes this is the first card that I've shown you that is it well it's almost 2 slot width it's just no it really isn't I mean technically they might call this 2 slot there's no there's just this much protruding beyond the edge of the metal if you're gonna make a 2 slot card it can't go beyond the metal I mean technically it can but it shouldn't because if you were to put two of these together there'd be no air flow so I'm gonna still call this a two and a half slot card all black all black with the Gigabyte logo and remember it will be like this in your system so that'll be right side up now the RGB is right here it's not fancy RGB this is not loaded with RGB this can be controlled with their fusion RGB software and synched up with their motherboards and stuff so if you want a touch of RGB keep in mind that the card will be like this in your system with the this is not RGB this is just a particular go with this facing up a touch of RGB on the logo and that's it otherwise it's a black graphics card and I'll put it here in front just like the other so you can see its relative size it does come with the protection on the golden fingers on the bottom and the ports on the back all the ports are the same by the way three DisplayPort one HDMI and one USB 3 type C but this one has protection on the golden figures on the env link so if you don't want the gold end be leak sticking out it does have the black piece of plastics thing right there if that's important to you one side thought before we open up the last two cards asrock was nice enough to send me this very nice premium X $2.99 motherboard and Intel is the next month or so going to launch basin Falls which is essentially skylake X refresh it's the next generation of chips on the high-end desktop platform one thing that's nice is skylake X has the toothpaste material wears base and falls is going to be soldered just like the new ninth generation chips the i-9 9900 K now the highest end chip I have at the moment is the i-9 7900 x skylake x and while it will run at 4.5 gigahertz on all of its 10 cores and 20 threads it requires a monster cooler to do it and it does run fairly warm while doing so warmer even than the i7 8700 k at 5 gigahertz does my former test bench before the new 9th gen comes out what I would really like to do is to get one of the new higher core count chips now that there's gonna be an 8 core consumer chip I don't think 10 cores is very exciting anymore for high-end desktops I'd hopefully like to get the new high-end the I 990 980 XE I believe it is it is going to be the top-end 18 core 36 thread chip it's expensive to be sure but it's got an out-of-the-box turbo speed of 4.5 gigahertz I don't know what it's all core boosters I don't know if that's been released or published or if anybody knows yet but it would be interesting to see putting it on a high-end cooler if 5 gigahertz is possible on that chip probably not 4.6 4.7 with a really nice 360 cooler or perhaps a dark Rock pro 4 knock to a D 15 or something similar well I don't really do open the cooling stuff it might need that we'll see but the reason I bring it up if you are planning on buying one of the new high-end 4k 144 Hertz monitors and there are a couple of those out now those are two thousand dollar monitors but they're very nice I'm a 4k at a hundred and forty-four Hertz is just nuts I mean really that is more than double the pixels required on a 144 Hertz 1440p display it's nearly two and a half times it's crazy but if you're in the market for that you're probably gonna need to RTX 28 et eyes I can't even say in SLI anymore because it isn't SLI its NV link so 220 ATT eyes in NV link it doesn't have the same ring to it as that's a lie whatever so you're looking at 2,400 dollars worth of graphics cards $2,000 for the CPU probably 400 hours for a proper motherboard man that's an expensive system who wants to see that benchmark let me know in the comments below give it a thumbs up or thumbs down to the absolute absurd and extreme but while I could absolutely save by an i 999 hundred K for even a 20 atti two of them 2400 or so two graphics cards $2,000 CPU 400 our motherboard man that's almost $5,000 with a hardware and we haven't put RAM in yet I don't think 64 gigs of RAM is out of the question for such a machine yeah is six 700r4 the RAM a couple of nvme SSDs maybe in raid 0 maybe to Samsung 970 pros and raid 0 oh that would be an impressive machine maybe it would deserve custom open-loop cooling anyway let me know in the comments below if there's enough interest maybe I can get in till the send me one and we'll do such testing if you are a longtime viewer of my channel then you know that I am an EVGA fan back in 2016 almost all of my reviews were EVGA cards some of those were just my personal cards that I used on the channel if you're thinking of starting a youtube channel start with the stuff you have and then just the fact that I've liked EVGA cards for a long time that being said the other brands have come up with some very nice stuff lately my streaming PC downstairs has an MSI 1080 Ti Duke in it it's not RGB it's not flashy it's not fancy it's black and white simple it's quiet it's fast I have no issues with it I really like that card it fits nicely now I'll be completely honest and say that the gaming extra that MSI sent me to review last year remains my favorite card big huge loud obnoxious and awesome the real-world difference between the gaming exterior and the duke about that much so so I haven't been using EVGA cards a lot lately for two reasons number one I've been enjoying some other ones for a change in trying out different brands to make sure that I have diversity on my channel and number two gigabyte and MSI have been sending me cards and EVGA hasn't hey EVGA send me some cards would you please I would love to test some of your stuff especially when you come out with like a kingpin or classified edition of this this packaging is very different Wow okay this is cool packaging the rest of these have just been cardboard boxes okay they're all just cardboard boxes but the rest of these have been boring cardboard boxes with foam in the bag okay this is a bag and it's foam but it's highly it's a dense foam it's much better foam and okay that's just a spacer what is this EVGA this wasn't back and there's even a slot in the foam for it no idea Oh power adapters I think know what is this EVGA geforce r-tx installation guide really EVGA I love you but come on this isn't Moe Cates graphics card but for Pete sakes what is this oops oh now this is nice this is a label or a decal for the front of your computer case to show off that you have an EVGA card if you care about such things but it is actually it's got relief I can't show you because I don't have a close-up camera here but this is this is one of the nicest case labels it's metal it's raised it has relief it has detail that is one of the nicest ones I've ever seen bar none let's open this up is this okay kudos to EVGA for including this I will be keeping this these are handy to have I mean I've got some but HDMI DVI not everybody has gotten rid of their DVR monitors yet if you want to plug this into a DVI something this is the only one we've opened so far that has an adapter it's a nice length it feels of good quality it is it's a dual link of course it would have to be very nice and the card itself oh okay forgive me I made the thick joke earlier when I pointed to it I mean it is I looked at the pictures of these before taking them out of the box wow this is heavy this is the nicest packaging so far we haven't opened up the gaming extra oh but this is by far the nicest packaging no question oh boy that is yep I'm not even gonna say it this is an actual triple slot car that is one two three I made the comment earlier before I unboxed any of them when I said ZOTAC is long the gaming extra is tall and this is thick I'm seriously it is a triple slot card it's a true one it's got it takes all three there that is that's really nice-looking this clear I'm curious to see what and how it lights up I have not looked at any videos or anything else of these this is very nice there's some very nice back relief detail right here you can actually put your finger in there now is that actually going to provide any cooling or doing anything for the car yeah probably not let me know in the comments below whether or not you want to see thermal images of a car with like a FLIR of an infrared camera when I actually did the testing to see what how much heat they're producing if there's any hot spots or not now there is no plastic to peel off of here but we have plastic to peel here can we get it in one piece oh no almost we'll try it this way yes I know this video is running long that's why I put all the details at the beginning of the video if all you wanted to hear was my initial take on our TX cards you're probably not even watching anymore but if you are watching thank you I appreciate it one piece she's happy on my channel I often make a comment along the lines of this card is a beast this card is a beast it that's impressive that's um they put some work into making it look nice in addition to just being a card no offense to the soos card or the gigabyte card or those Oh Tech card but there's nothing special about them they're just black plain boring cards with some fans and Cooling I'm sure they work fine I'm sure they'd do the job fine this is kind of blingy I kind of like it now here's what's interesting it did not come with the protector holes the protector plugs for the video ports yeah it does come I don't know if I've ever seen this before it comes with a protector for the l-shaped plate for the for the backplate that's interesting it does come with golden finger protection it does come with both the envy link and that golden finger protection now like all launch cards it's a single six pin and a single eight pin they're all the same as far as I know the printed circuit boards are identical between all these cards Nvidia supplied them through one company so I don't think there's any difference there but there'll be differences in the cooler and differences in tuning and there might be differences in the VRMs I don't know that there actually is that's very nice now there's two fans on this versus three fans on some of the others while normally three fan cards would run cooler this has got one the thickest heaviest metal coolers of any of just holding the weight I haven't measured them maybe I should maybe should put them on a scale and measure I'll need an accurate scale though not like you know a bathroom scale I need something accurate but this thing might very well be the heaviest even heavier than that so tech triple fan carb it also looks the nicest right now I have not yet opened up the gaming extra oh but right now if I was building a computer and putting one in my own machine I would do this just because it's got some style and pizzazz personal preferences vary but this is a nice looking card lengthwise its standard length height its standard height this will fit in almost any case so long as you don't mind the vertical depth the fact that it's a triple slot card if you don't mind that fact the length and width are actually uh well it's basically the same as the azouz but with a better cooler and last but certainly not least the gaming x-tree interesting that they use this product name this model name for a launch card as I said before I believe all these cards at the same PCB the same printed circuit board they're just different coolers custom printed circuit boards custom designs will come later with the 1080 TI series the gaming extra Oh was their premium custom end fancy super duper card and then they had the gaming X which has had a cooler the same for a long long time the red and black which probably needs to go at this point although some of you probably are a fan and then the duke now there is a duke version of this and the duke version of this is anywhere between thirty to fifty dollars less expensive if you don't care about the RGB and the size and the design maybe get the duke but maybe the larger size and the RGB appealed to you now this is the only card to come shrink wrapped in plastic as you can see here all five of these cards were bought the day the initial and video launch announcement came out and they were all bought from amazon and they were all bought directly from amazon.com not from a third-party reseller I bought the hour they went up for order of that morning and of course it's taken time for them to show up only one card actually showed up on launch day the rest were all late and so that's why this video is late cuz I had to buy them just like you do in any case now we're gonna take off this pasta shrink wrap and see what it looks like this one opens from the top and slides out unlike the others there are two places to put your fingers there we go piece of foam this is pretty typical MSI's envelope if I can get it it's got that same black print that gigabyte does and in here will probably be the most uninspiring things ever or not hang on well this might be kind of cool so we have an MSI graphics card quick user's guide that looks generic for any graphics card they probably put this in with all their cards yeah there's nothing are lazy game review does when he does his overhead camera catalogs and manuals if any of you are fans of lazy game review first of all awesome two thumbs up second of all do you like it when he's got the camera overhead and he said sir thumbs through manuals and thumbs through catalogs and if any of you are not a fan of his why he has an awesome channel that is an actual honest-to-goodness comic this is harder than you think gaming is my life cool I have real honest to guy who will use those as coasters now before we take the card out cardboard well it says true gaming so it must be true this is cool I am really interested to try this in a case this card has to get a build now this can't just be put on the test bench I need to find out whether or not this makes a difference I'll put that down there for a second and really a 6-pin to an 8-pin adapter I won't repeat my speech from before whoa okay the packaging is not impressive this just it's just foam there's nothing special about this package this packaging could be not hey MSI I love you look at EVGA packaging learn something um this the packaging is boring the card already looks nice okay this weighs a ton this is heavier than the EVGA card this is the heaviest card here no I don't even have to weigh it to know wow all that weighs a ton okay let's take that out of the packaging so we have long we have tall this is tall okay we won't even make the joke sorry long tall wide thick yeah sorry I know I shouldn't make jokes like that Wow let's go ahead and peel this off this is warning you zero fan speed the fans do not turn when the cards not in use one piece to piece Shh move this part to use Oh to use envy link oh that's interesting because of the hard connection you actually have to take part of the PCB off go ahead and peel that off there are two screws here this plastic has to come off to use envy link because the envy link is right here and it would have to come across and it can't it doesn't fit so they have to make part of the plastic removable this is amazing looking oh hang on we got three more plastic bits right here on these are annoying always because they just so hard to get your thumb under and take them off this is it's very firmly attached of course I don't want to scratch up the fan but it's just gorgeous it's heavy it's actually hurting my hand holding it I'll just rest it like that I'm trying to hold it up so you guys could see but no might edit this out or I might look at the length of this video which I have no idea how long it's gonna be because I film these in parts and then put it all together and edit I have no idea how long this is at this point but oh well the msi r-tx 2080 gaming extra oh is a beast this is the card that deserves that phrase this is a monster I stand corrected I thought all of these cards were the same PCB this is most definitely not and it is an 8 and 8 pin connector so - 8 pins the shape is different the length is different the position of the power connectors is different this is not I think all the other cards are stock PCBs this is a custom now whether or not it's awesome and great I don't know but it weighs a ton it has many heat pipes it clearly has a lot of RGB take a look at the back that is gorgeous when I tilt it so you can see it in the light tilt it this way it is it's like a grey it's almost like gunmetal gray Wow and it's got the MSI logo here which will display properly when it's inside the bush this thing is heavy ok do you remember this this connects oh it's got rubber feet this is rubber and this is rubber it's got two rubber feet that go right there on the card this screws into your computer and so when it sits in your machine it rests just like that and it acts as a support bracket to help hold up your card it provides additional reinforcement which I'm really glad to see cuz this thing I need to weigh it I need to weight and compare it to the others it's actually hurting my hand to hold it it is that much heavier than some of the others it really is the EVGA is closest this is eight hundred and fifty dollars it is fifty dollars more expensive than a couple of these other cards if I was buying a card it would be either the EVGA or this the EVGA if you can't take the height and the width and the length and the weight if this is just too big for your case get the EVGA if you've got room wow I like it is it worth the extra money that's personal choice do you like the style and design that's a personal choice I would buy this card I would buy this over the zotac and over the gigabyte and over the azouz I don't I would buy it over the EVG if I've got room if I'm in a tight case I'd buy the EVGA but if I've got rhombus this is it custom PCB to eight pin connectors it's got the support bracket I like this card can you hear me gushing yet I'm glad I did all these in one video I've never done this before let me know in the comments if you like this and in just a second I'm gonna put them all out on the desk together usually I unbox them one at a time and you never see a comparison now you're gonna get to see them all back-to-back and while this is a very long video and I could certainly edit it and cut it up I could I could have done this much quicker when I eventually hire a video editor these will probably get done much quicker because we could film a lot of raw footage and then of them but I can only find eight so I have to hold the zotac card EVGA ZOTAC in my hand the gaming extra Oh on the desk in front of me the asou saan the desk next to it and then the gigabyte on top of the gigabyte box five RTX 2080 graphics cards four thousand dollars worth of GPUs I will do some testing with these I will do a witch RTX 2080 should you buy I'll test the coolers especially gorgeous MSI down there but I will test them all I'll get temps and I'll get overclocking numbers I'll do a video on them then I'll probably end up having to sell two or three of them to pay Visa back and then I'll probably keep two of them for ongoing benchmarking and tests in comparison to the 10 series comparison to the 9 series lots of people test against the 10 series but the question is if right we have 5 different RTX 2080 cards from 5 different companies here we're gonna take them all out of the box and take a look at them see what you get what the coolers look like how much they weigh and what my initial impressions of them are I have never done this before I've done a variety of unboxing videos on my channel I've done a variety of video cart unboxing videos I have never done a five-card $4000 unboxing there will be a which r-tx 20/80 should you buy video at some point in the future that's not this necessarily this sort of a preview of that I will have all of these benchmark I'll do temperature noise and clock speed and overclocking test to see if there's any discernible difference between these cards I've done that in the past in various videos some of the most popular videos I've done in fact were which 1060 should you buy which 1070 which are X 580 etc so I will be doing a comparison on these to see which one of these you should buy we'll talk a little bit in this video about should you buy one at all I will briefly cover the RT X 2080 what it is etc and then we will take all these out of the boxes lay them out on the desk and give you a nice close look at them before we get to all that linked in the video description below will be a number of links to Amazon Newegg and ebay for these and the ten series cards that they replace new and used those are affiliate links using those while shopping does support the channel and considering that none of these cards were product samples yes I really did pay or rather I should say visa paid four thousand dollars to buy all these cards so I could do this and many other videos I would appreciate your support if you can use those while shopping thank you that's much better I have some room to work now before we open these cards a quick primer and overview on what's new in the RT X xx series of cards first of all they are not GT x cards they are RT x cards gtx 2060s and 2050s will be coming but these are RT x cards with rate racing technology the GTX name traces back to the summer of 2005 so it has been just over 13 years since GTX noted the top-end or high performing cards from Nvidia it didn't become the exclusive name of most of their cards until more recently than that but it has been around for a very long time but now we have something new RTX and yes it does stand for ray tracing technology there are two new kinds of processing cores on these that are not on the ten series and this part's very important the actual ray tracing or RT cores themselves and then tensor cores tensor course are not ray tracing cores that are different there are actually two new kinds of cores in addition to the CUDA cores that we've had going all the way back to the 8000 series more than ten years ago the ray tracing cores do exactly what they sound like they rate race they basically do the search and the drawing and the lines and they're very dedicated hardware in that regard the tensor course support the ray tracing they had to be put in there in order to make the ray tracing Hardware work but they could possibly serve other uses and there are some other reasons they're in there besides just ray tracing how much of the arti cores and tensor cores actually get used outside of ray tracing remains to be seen for the moment they really aren't being used and so most of the benchmarks you're gonna see at the moment and throughout 2018 and even into early 2019 are mostly going to be based on the CUDA cores they're gonna be using the same technology that's been used for years and years and years now these cards do have more cores and faster cores and updated cores compared to older cards but it's just an iteration of the same technology a large amount of die space has been set aside for the new r-tx technologies which is why when you look at the performance of these cards they may not on the surface seemed Remender tremendously faster than the existing cards that say the 1080 Ti they will in time I believe that the gap in these will grow once those technologies are better utilized it's similar to instruction sets when a new chip comes out with new added instructions new processing instructions when for example the original MMX technologies came out from the Pentium back in the 1990s they didn't really make a big difference to performance for a couple of years until they did it maybe a couple of years before we see this stuff really show up in games it will probably one or two more cards down the line and we'll talk about that whether it's worth waiting maybe for the second or third generation of rotation technology to jump on board if you currently have a 1080 or 1080 Ti do I recommend you rush right out and buy one of these no not really if on the other hand you have a 980 TI or a 980 or perhaps a 1060 or 1070 depending upon what your goals and needs are maybe these do make sense well that's all well and good you say but who should really go out and buy one of these who is an RT X 2080 for 1080p 144 Hertz triple-a gaming 1440p 60 to 100 Hertz triple-a gaming at high to ultra detail and 4k 60 Hertz high to ultra detail gaming if you want to play shadow of the Tomb Raider Assassin's Creed Odyssey Far Cry 5 if you want to play the newest and latest Triple A games and you want to do so at any of those settings high to ultra detail at those resolutions and frame rates these cards are for you possibly what's on my test bench back there is for you that is the 2080 ti back there that's currently being prepared for the I $9.99 hundred K benchmark series but that'll be covered in its own video that card by the way is 50% more money for about 30% more performance which I know a lot of people are gonna say well that's not a deal actually that's not a bad deal at all that is the fastest gaming graphics card sold in the world today and it's really not a huge price premium you always pay a premium to be the best to be on the top of the market and to only be a 50% premium for a 30 percent performance jump is incredibly reasonable doubt that go price first-class airline tickets cars purses watches go see how expensive octree watch is that's actually quite reasonable all things considered but I understand that most people are not in the market for 1200 our graphics cards in fact most of you are probably not going to be in the market for an 800 or card as of right now these haven't done a lot to push down the prices of the 10 series it probably will take sometime into next year with AMD's release of na'vi the 7 nanometre card coming next year to really start pushing prices down so if you're waiting for a price drop six months eight months somewhere in there before we really see something that's going to move prices if you can wait well you'll always well I say always you will generally get a better deal unless cryptocurrency mining comes back when that was around in January of last year graphics card prices went nuts who knows if it comes back at January of this year 800 for these might seem incredibly reasonable we'll have to see now the very first question some of you may be ready to run down to the comment section below and ask is wait a minute all those numbers you just gave me they sound exactly like what a gtx 1080 TI is recommended for why wouldn't i go buy one of those they're cheaper you'd be correct the GTX 10 atti is only maybe 5% slower than these cards it's a very very small margin not a huge one not one that I'd personally worry about the GTX 1080 Ti is less expensive right now new cards are about $100 less expensive then these are 700 versus 800 no brainer then go buy one of those well maybe but keep in mind that you're buying two year old technology the 10 series launched in the summer of 2016 we're now in the fall of 2018 that does not make those cards bad overnight that doesn't make it obsolete overnight but there will come a point in the next couple of years where Nvidia scales back development of GTX technology and pushes and pushes and pushes the new r-tx technology there will come a point at where these continue to get regular support and game optimizations and driver updates and improvements and the 10 series does not now that may very well be three years from now that that's not going to be next year don't don't remotely think that I saying that in a year they're gonna stop development cuz that's not true but it will come at some point if you're buying a card that you want to keep for three to five years I'd buy an RT X 2080 if you tend to buy cards every two years get a GTX ten atti in the next two years I don't think the art the RT X technology will matter too much and I don't think driver development next two years is really going to be curtailed much on the 10 series 9 series 900 series yes but the 10 series no but if you want to keep your card for 3 to 5 years the extra hundred dollars may get you better drivers in 3 years than the 10 series would get you and that's not bad at least it's worth considering in any case now there's one big wrench in that plan you can buy used 1080 T eyes for about five hundred to five hundred and fifty dollars on ebay that's what those links in the description or down there for a 1080 Ti at five hundred beats the pants off an RT X 20 80 for 800 but that's a used card possibly a mind card for a cryptocurrency mining versus a brand new in box never touched never used warrantied card they're not directly comparable but I understand why somebody might consider those to be deals because after all if they work on the first day you use them they'll probably work for several years to come so in general the performance is similar but if you're buying new and you want to keep them 100 our price premium for the latest and greatest technologies that might give you a little bit of future proofing that's not bad one more thing before we unbox these cards you can see I have some CPUs in front of me we have the brand new I $9.99 hundred K and then the Rison 720 700 X now I mentioned before that the RT X xx atti is on the 9900 K for its launch benchmarks fastest graphics cards in the world for the fastest CPU in the world you don't necessarily have to buy an I 999 hundred K to get use out of these chips however out of these graphics cards it depends upon what you're doing so let me give you some very specific advice if you're playing at 1080p and you have a 100 forty-four Hertz monitor and you consistently want to get 144 frames per second you want to be on Intel you want a high-end K chip an overclocked chip like the i9 if you're playing it 1440p and you have a 100 Hertz or 144 Hertz monitor either standard or ultra white and the same advice applies you want to be up there in frame rates by Intel 4k is an interesting thing because 4k 60 frames per second doesn't need a high-end clock speed chip because you're completely graphics card limited but on the flip side if you have the money for 4k gaming maybe you have the money for the fastest gaming CPU in the world which is the I $9.99 hundred K on the other hand at all three resolutions if you're happy with 60 frames per second then the Rison is fine rise in 720 700 or 2700 X frankly I'd recommend based on current prices we'll play all current games at 1080p 1440p or 4k at 60 Hertz smooth and stable without any complaint on the r-tx 2080 or the r-tx 2080 TI for that matter you don't need an i-9 to do it it's nice it is faster how much depends upon the circumstances resolution detail etc and what you're doing but you don't need it it's three hundred and fifty dollars more give or take with cooler motherboard and chip then the Rison 720 700 X is it worth the money that's a personal decision I'm kind of on the fence that if you're spending $1200 on a graphics card go ahead and get the i-9 if you're spending 800 it's a big big maybe because well it's a compromise choice it's a compromise choice but they're both really fast so don't take that to mean that they're bad just best almost the best before we open up any of these cards I want to give you guys a huge disclaimer all of these cards are based upon the launch PCB printed circuit board there's no customizations yet that will come in the amp extreme and the classified or the kingpin edition or the rogue Strix from a soos those will be later customized cards they're not here yet so out-of-the-box performance is going to be very very similar the clock speed differences between these cards our one or two percent two and a half percent at most sound noise temp is gonna be a much bigger difference and we'll take a look at those when I do the which one should you by comparison and I might redo it once customized expensive cards come out they're usually not worth the money for the performance they give you just because you want something flashy and fancy but when I take these out of the box what you should be looking for is size appearance brand preference some of these cards are longer some such as the gaming extra oh are taller and some such as the EVGA are thick so do you prefer a long tall or thick graphics card that's ultimately up to you but I'm gonna lay all these out I'll put them in each direction once we take them out of the box and you can see which one you prefer one of the things that I hope to do in my new filming studio is set up my unboxing area with a camera overhead although actually where the microphone is at the moment you can't see it but it's just right here would be in the way because it'd be really cool to double film these as I take items out of the box and be able to switch in post between the footage here and the footage overhead and show you that perspective we're not there yet but the hope is to get multiple camera angles when we do these that is a long card well that's pretty cool this shows you a logo on the box I guess it doesn't mean much but this is an unboxing video sort of an overview so we're gonna show you what these look like ZOTAC gaming full disclosure the card back down the testbench the 2080 TI is also ZOTAC i thought about unboxing it for this as well but it's identical to what's in here so why can we open it I want to take care of the boxes and keep them all in great shape so we can display them there ooh here we go yes this is identical to the 2080 I would expect that if you buy a 20 80 TI of any of these it will look exactly the same in the box the the circuit board designed the initial cards are all the same very nice very cool there is an envelope here that has no disk in it what do you need this for you're gonna go do in video dot-com and download the drivers anyway inside here is the number one gaming mini PC ah yes so Tech is advertising there's no Tech mini pcs maybe one of these days we'll talk them into sending me one for media systems for students going off to college and other limited space things a quick installation guide put the card in your computer and see what's in here yes that actually actually that's interesting this shows how to connect two different monitors televisions using DVI hdmi displayport and which adapters to use and how to get them to connect okay fair enough so tech got this right please make sure you have the latest geforce drivers download them at geforce comm quick side note if you have an older card in your system maybe not a ten series maybe a nine series if you have an AMD and Karndean your system don't just on yes you do have to uninstall the drivers don't just uninstall them I always use display driver uninstaller google it'll be the first thing in the menu display driver uninstaller does a good job of actually removing Oliver I need to do a video on that of removing vestiges of old drivers run it in safe mode hold down shift when you restart your computer go into troubleshooting it's like two or three different steps which is why I need to make a video on it but you ultimately want to restart in safe mode run it clean everything run it on Intel running on AMD running on an Nvidia and then reboot and then download the latest drivers once we take off the cardboard cover its foam but there are some nice things in here we have a six pin adapter this is honestly if you're spending $800 on a graphics card don't use adapters I would never ever use these it's not a knock again so tech I would use adapters for an $800 video card if you have $800 you have 50 or 60 for $70 to buy a decent power supply but this this is an adapter and this is another one to 6-pin to 1/8 pin but what you want to see is the graphics card oh I tore the bag taking it out boo that was my fault side note it didn't come out of the box when I turn it upside down but there's actually a plastic sleeve in there that is separate from the outside so there's actually three packages in one there's this outside cardboard box a plastic sleeve and then the cardboard box inside and when I dumped it it just didn't come out I tried pulling it out it didn't want it was really stuck in there but it's a printed sleeve and well I don't think you care but it's in there that is a card and a half Wow so tech gaming lived game I am so glad that they don't have a bunch of colors all over this if you want a black card that doesn't mess up your system here you go black black all black I do believe the ports are gonna be the same on all these cards so I'll go ahead and read them out to you now we've got a display port we've got three display ports and those should be one point for an HDMI 2.0 and then a USB 3.0 type-c connection for future expandability I don't think I'll have to look and see if that's I don't think that's a thunderbolt port I think that's for VR one thing that's nice about this card is it is no higher it's no taller in Z depth than the actual slot if you have a case that has plenty of length but not tons of height it'll fit very nicely now it is thicker than two slots so if by chance you want to put two of these together and then V link and I didn't mention that earlier because very few people are gonna do that the SLI connectors are gone it's n V link now it's different I'll cover that in a future video not now then you're gonna need slot spacing that being said I don't consider that to be a big deal any modern system worth putting - if these into is worth having motherboard that has proper slots a slot spacing 4nv link next up we have the assist dual fan overclocked edition this is actually the slowest clocked out of the box card as near as I can tell of any of these here by like one percent which you'll never notice I suspect that many of you would love to have seen the wrong Strix card here but the wrong Strix won't come until they do a custom PCB and probably to eight pin connectors so for now we have this but the benefit to this card and it'll be worth testing to see how well the noise and temps go this is also the smallest card on the desk and so if you have a confined case and want something smaller that isn't a monster like that ZOTAC this might be worth considering it also cost less which is a nice benefit it is very easy to say well this other card is three percent faster but if it's fifty dollars more expensive it isn't really the deal unless you just want the RGB and like most soos products these days it has their name in gold on it and it's in a cardboard box I know I know what's exciting that is why I'm doing all five of these in one video rather than stretching this out if I did five unboxing videos hello and welcome to tech deals here is the third 10 20 80 1080 20 80 that you've seen so far it would get boring some notes of oh that's interesting different packaging and some of you may want to see what you get in the box that is not in a bubble thing nuts and I okay the cardboard comes off that's different it's wrapped and plot that's unpacking steps okay now this might be overly complicated but there's a diagram unpacking steps packing steps a soos really that's overly complicated I guess I will follow the unpacking steps lift the flaps all right lift the flaps uh-oh fold down flat seriously I have to follow instructions to take this out Oh okay once you fold it flat then you can take this out I mean no it's not overly complicated but it's overly complicated but it's well protected fair enough holy okay this looks looks your subjective when it comes to graphics cards they are that is a lot of plastic shall we peel some plastic what's the best way to do this let's do the back let's do the back peel first everybody loves the back peel well okay not everybody loves the back peel there we go now this is interesting this doesn't mean much but there are protective plugs in each of the ports back here and the bottom golden fingers has a protector on it as well I'm actually gonna leave that on there because that's just smart the zotac card did not have these the zotac card did not have them on I did that did not have them on here or I'm just dropping things everywhere yeah I don't need to keep those and it oh that's interesting if they did not put protection on the golden fingers on the envy link but they put them here and they put it here fair enough let's peel some more plastic shall we now if you're watching this going who cares about the peeling of plastic that's one of the most requested things that get when I unbox things how come you don't show us the peeling of the plastic fine I will show you the peeling on the plastic I should get a nice I should put the microphone right next to it and do some ASMR video unboxing products for an hour ASMR problem is that would be an expensive one to do because you can only do this once one piece success I don't know if you can see that is not a two slot card that is a thick card this is thicker than the zotac but not as long two fans much shorter and so if you have height in this direction but you don't have distance and length in that direction do you want it longer okay okay I'll stop with that sorry the back is different take a look at the back this is not black on the back this is a white and black pattern which you will love or you will hate and then you can see the ax soos and chief force logos right there no RGB or anything fancy it's a launch card what do you want but we'll see what the temps and the noise are on this because if you want something of this size all jokes of size aside if you want something of this size in your case will it be loud will it be cool will it be quiet we'll find out so you can see the card here on the desk and I'll put them each here in secession before I put them all out that'll take some rearranging of everything it does come with a manual with basic instructions in a bajillion languages and a soos is including a CD well or a DVD I'm not sure which in addition to drivers that you should not use it also has their tweak utility a soos has their tweak overclocking utility you can use it me personally I use MSI Afterburner on all my cards what you use is up to you but they provide that next up we have the gigabyte gaming overclocked card they also have the wind force which is basically as far as I can tell the same card with a slightly lower boost clock speed get the gaming now they will have an aura sixth ream card with their horas branding at some point in the future but just like kingpin and rocks tricks those cards will be custom and will come out later and probably cost more money for now we have the gaming card well that came out nice and easily this one is also the first card that has RGB on it because the zotac and the asou do not the wrong Strix well and the amp extreme probably will this also follows the Giga bytes motif it's got the gigabyte logo in black glossy print so you can just there we go you can see it now it's a cardboard box you'll probably never look at it again that's nice let's hold that up same thing glossy gigabyte name I would give you my usual speech on quality products and quality pack these are $800 video cards frankly they could all probably use a little bit nicer packaging but it doesn't really matter yeah that kind of takes away from the fun of it once you take this off which is a cardboard box and in here is something yeah it's some foam anti-static bag graphics card not overly fancy what's in here this is almost certainly the least exciting driver CD that you should use as a coaster a quick guide that you should also use as a coaster or a scare which is ironic because it's not Norrish card but whatever four year warranty register online to extend product warranty to four years for free please complete the online registration within 30 days from the date blah blah blah just a side note for packaging this is all that's in this I mean that's a real box what's interesting is so far the zotac cart is the only one that came with adapters now I don't care because I would never use an adapter with any in there our graphics tray you could because it has an adapter to two 6-pin PCI Express to a single eight pin and it has an adapter from two 4-pin molex to a single six pin those technically work if you have a reasonably decent power supply I would not ever ever ever put an $800 graphics card on a bunch of adapters like that I just I wouldn't that's me I just I wouldn't I'm sure somebody out there is going to disagree with me but in my opinion when you can buy a nice 700 watt 80 plus gold power supply in the 75 to 85 dollar range or a 600 watt 80 plus bronze for 50 bucks that has all the proper connectors for modern motherboards and mono graphics cards I've replaced my power supply if I'm doing this oh no that's interesting what is was this on the end why does it have a boot on the end that I don't know so we can stand it up that's the darndest thing why is there a boot on the graphics card that is the weirdest thing our graphics card has shoes this is the first card that I've shown you that is it well it's almost 2 slot width it's just no it really isn't I mean technically they might call this 2 slot there's no there's just this much protruding beyond the edge of the metal if you're gonna make a 2 slot card it can't go beyond the metal I mean technically it can but it shouldn't because if you were to put two of these together there'd be no air flow so I'm gonna still call this a two and a half slot card all black all black with the Gigabyte logo and remember it will be like this in your system so that'll be right side up now the RGB is right here it's not fancy RGB this is not loaded with RGB this can be controlled with their fusion RGB software and synched up with their motherboards and stuff so if you want a touch of RGB keep in mind that the card will be like this in your system with the this is not RGB this is just a particular go with this facing up a touch of RGB on the logo and that's it otherwise it's a black graphics card and I'll put it here in front just like the other so you can see its relative size it does come with the protection on the golden fingers on the bottom and the ports on the back all the ports are the same by the way three DisplayPort one HDMI and one USB 3 type C but this one has protection on the golden figures on the env link so if you don't want the gold end be leak sticking out it does have the black piece of plastics thing right there if that's important to you one side thought before we open up the last two cards asrock was nice enough to send me this very nice premium X $2.99 motherboard and Intel is the next month or so going to launch basin Falls which is essentially skylake X refresh it's the next generation of chips on the high-end desktop platform one thing that's nice is skylake X has the toothpaste material wears base and falls is going to be soldered just like the new ninth generation chips the i-9 9900 K now the highest end chip I have at the moment is the i-9 7900 x skylake x and while it will run at 4.5 gigahertz on all of its 10 cores and 20 threads it requires a monster cooler to do it and it does run fairly warm while doing so warmer even than the i7 8700 k at 5 gigahertz does my former test bench before the new 9th gen comes out what I would really like to do is to get one of the new higher core count chips now that there's gonna be an 8 core consumer chip I don't think 10 cores is very exciting anymore for high-end desktops I'd hopefully like to get the new high-end the I 990 980 XE I believe it is it is going to be the top-end 18 core 36 thread chip it's expensive to be sure but it's got an out-of-the-box turbo speed of 4.5 gigahertz I don't know what it's all core boosters I don't know if that's been released or published or if anybody knows yet but it would be interesting to see putting it on a high-end cooler if 5 gigahertz is possible on that chip probably not 4.6 4.7 with a really nice 360 cooler or perhaps a dark Rock pro 4 knock to a D 15 or something similar well I don't really do open the cooling stuff it might need that we'll see but the reason I bring it up if you are planning on buying one of the new high-end 4k 144 Hertz monitors and there are a couple of those out now those are two thousand dollar monitors but they're very nice I'm a 4k at a hundred and forty-four Hertz is just nuts I mean really that is more than double the pixels required on a 144 Hertz 1440p display it's nearly two and a half times it's crazy but if you're in the market for that you're probably gonna need to RTX 28 et eyes I can't even say in SLI anymore because it isn't SLI its NV link so 220 ATT eyes in NV link it doesn't have the same ring to it as that's a lie whatever so you're looking at 2,400 dollars worth of graphics cards $2,000 for the CPU probably 400 hours for a proper motherboard man that's an expensive system who wants to see that benchmark let me know in the comments below give it a thumbs up or thumbs down to the absolute absurd and extreme but while I could absolutely save by an i 999 hundred K for even a 20 atti two of them 2400 or so two graphics cards $2,000 CPU 400 our motherboard man that's almost $5,000 with a hardware and we haven't put RAM in yet I don't think 64 gigs of RAM is out of the question for such a machine yeah is six 700r4 the RAM a couple of nvme SSDs maybe in raid 0 maybe to Samsung 970 pros and raid 0 oh that would be an impressive machine maybe it would deserve custom open-loop cooling anyway let me know in the comments below if there's enough interest maybe I can get in till the send me one and we'll do such testing if you are a longtime viewer of my channel then you know that I am an EVGA fan back in 2016 almost all of my reviews were EVGA cards some of those were just my personal cards that I used on the channel if you're thinking of starting a youtube channel start with the stuff you have and then just the fact that I've liked EVGA cards for a long time that being said the other brands have come up with some very nice stuff lately my streaming PC downstairs has an MSI 1080 Ti Duke in it it's not RGB it's not flashy it's not fancy it's black and white simple it's quiet it's fast I have no issues with it I really like that card it fits nicely now I'll be completely honest and say that the gaming extra that MSI sent me to review last year remains my favorite card big huge loud obnoxious and awesome the real-world difference between the gaming exterior and the duke about that much so so I haven't been using EVGA cards a lot lately for two reasons number one I've been enjoying some other ones for a change in trying out different brands to make sure that I have diversity on my channel and number two gigabyte and MSI have been sending me cards and EVGA hasn't hey EVGA send me some cards would you please I would love to test some of your stuff especially when you come out with like a kingpin or classified edition of this this packaging is very different Wow okay this is cool packaging the rest of these have just been cardboard boxes okay they're all just cardboard boxes but the rest of these have been boring cardboard boxes with foam in the bag okay this is a bag and it's foam but it's highly it's a dense foam it's much better foam and okay that's just a spacer what is this EVGA this wasn't back and there's even a slot in the foam for it no idea Oh power adapters I think know what is this EVGA geforce r-tx installation guide really EVGA I love you but come on this isn't Moe Cates graphics card but for Pete sakes what is this oops oh now this is nice this is a label or a decal for the front of your computer case to show off that you have an EVGA card if you care about such things but it is actually it's got relief I can't show you because I don't have a close-up camera here but this is this is one of the nicest case labels it's metal it's raised it has relief it has detail that is one of the nicest ones I've ever seen bar none let's open this up is this okay kudos to EVGA for including this I will be keeping this these are handy to have I mean I've got some but HDMI DVI not everybody has gotten rid of their DVR monitors yet if you want to plug this into a DVI something this is the only one we've opened so far that has an adapter it's a nice length it feels of good quality it is it's a dual link of course it would have to be very nice and the card itself oh okay forgive me I made the thick joke earlier when I pointed to it I mean it is I looked at the pictures of these before taking them out of the box wow this is heavy this is the nicest packaging so far we haven't opened up the gaming extra oh but this is by far the nicest packaging no question oh boy that is yep I'm not even gonna say it this is an actual triple slot car that is one two three I made the comment earlier before I unboxed any of them when I said ZOTAC is long the gaming extra is tall and this is thick I'm seriously it is a triple slot card it's a true one it's got it takes all three there that is that's really nice-looking this clear I'm curious to see what and how it lights up I have not looked at any videos or anything else of these this is very nice there's some very nice back relief detail right here you can actually put your finger in there now is that actually going to provide any cooling or doing anything for the car yeah probably not let me know in the comments below whether or not you want to see thermal images of a car with like a FLIR of an infrared camera when I actually did the testing to see what how much heat they're producing if there's any hot spots or not now there is no plastic to peel off of here but we have plastic to peel here can we get it in one piece oh no almost we'll try it this way yes I know this video is running long that's why I put all the details at the beginning of the video if all you wanted to hear was my initial take on our TX cards you're probably not even watching anymore but if you are watching thank you I appreciate it one piece she's happy on my channel I often make a comment along the lines of this card is a beast this card is a beast it that's impressive that's um they put some work into making it look nice in addition to just being a card no offense to the soos card or the gigabyte card or those Oh Tech card but there's nothing special about them they're just black plain boring cards with some fans and Cooling I'm sure they work fine I'm sure they'd do the job fine this is kind of blingy I kind of like it now here's what's interesting it did not come with the protector holes the protector plugs for the video ports yeah it does come I don't know if I've ever seen this before it comes with a protector for the l-shaped plate for the for the backplate that's interesting it does come with golden finger protection it does come with both the envy link and that golden finger protection now like all launch cards it's a single six pin and a single eight pin they're all the same as far as I know the printed circuit boards are identical between all these cards Nvidia supplied them through one company so I don't think there's any difference there but there'll be differences in the cooler and differences in tuning and there might be differences in the VRMs I don't know that there actually is that's very nice now there's two fans on this versus three fans on some of the others while normally three fan cards would run cooler this has got one the thickest heaviest metal coolers of any of just holding the weight I haven't measured them maybe I should maybe should put them on a scale and measure I'll need an accurate scale though not like you know a bathroom scale I need something accurate but this thing might very well be the heaviest even heavier than that so tech triple fan carb it also looks the nicest right now I have not yet opened up the gaming extra oh but right now if I was building a computer and putting one in my own machine I would do this just because it's got some style and pizzazz personal preferences vary but this is a nice looking card lengthwise its standard length height its standard height this will fit in almost any case so long as you don't mind the vertical depth the fact that it's a triple slot card if you don't mind that fact the length and width are actually uh well it's basically the same as the azouz but with a better cooler and last but certainly not least the gaming x-tree interesting that they use this product name this model name for a launch card as I said before I believe all these cards at the same PCB the same printed circuit board they're just different coolers custom printed circuit boards custom designs will come later with the 1080 TI series the gaming extra Oh was their premium custom end fancy super duper card and then they had the gaming X which has had a cooler the same for a long long time the red and black which probably needs to go at this point although some of you probably are a fan and then the duke now there is a duke version of this and the duke version of this is anywhere between thirty to fifty dollars less expensive if you don't care about the RGB and the size and the design maybe get the duke but maybe the larger size and the RGB appealed to you now this is the only card to come shrink wrapped in plastic as you can see here all five of these cards were bought the day the initial and video launch announcement came out and they were all bought from amazon and they were all bought directly from amazon.com not from a third-party reseller I bought the hour they went up for order of that morning and of course it's taken time for them to show up only one card actually showed up on launch day the rest were all late and so that's why this video is late cuz I had to buy them just like you do in any case now we're gonna take off this pasta shrink wrap and see what it looks like this one opens from the top and slides out unlike the others there are two places to put your fingers there we go piece of foam this is pretty typical MSI's envelope if I can get it it's got that same black print that gigabyte does and in here will probably be the most uninspiring things ever or not hang on well this might be kind of cool so we have an MSI graphics card quick user's guide that looks generic for any graphics card they probably put this in with all their cards yeah there's nothing specific about this card to this thank you for choosing MSI please register to honest to guy who will use those as coasters now before we take the card out cardboard well it says true gaming so it must be true this is cool I am really interested to try this in a case this card has to get a build now this can't just be put on the test bench I need to find out whether or not this makes a difference I'll put that down there for a second and really a 6-pin to an 8-pin adapter I won't repeat my speech from before whoa okay the packaging is not impressive this just it's just foam there's nothing special about this package this packaging could be not hey MSI I love you look at EVGA packaging learn something um this the packaging is boring the card already looks nice okay this weighs a ton this is heavier than the EVGA card this is the heaviest card here no I don't even have to weigh it to know wow all that weighs a ton okay let's take that out of the packaging so we have long we have tall this is tall okay we won't even make the joke sorry long tall wide thick yeah sorry I know I shouldn't make jokes like that Wow let's go ahead and peel this off this is warning you zero fan speed the fans do not turn when the cards not in use one piece to piece Shh move this part to use Oh to use envy link oh that's interesting because of the hard connection you actually have to take part of the PCB off go ahead and peel that off there are two screws here this plastic has to come off to use envy link because the envy link is right here and it would have to come across and it can't it doesn't fit so they have to make part of the plastic removable this is amazing looking oh hang on we got three more plastic bits right here on these are annoying always because they just so hard to get your thumb under and take them off this is it's very firmly attached of course I don't want to scratch up the fan but it's just gorgeous it's heavy it's actually hurting my hand holding it I'll just rest it like that I'm trying to hold it up so you guys could see but no might edit this out or I might look at the length of this video which I have no idea how long it's gonna be because I film these in parts and then put it all together and edit I have no idea how long this is at this point but oh well the msi r-tx 2080 gaming extra oh is a beast this is the card that deserves that phrase this is a monster I stand corrected I thought all of these cards were the same PCB this is most definitely not and it is an 8 and 8 pin connector so - 8 pins the shape is different the length is different the position of the power connectors is different this is not I think all the other cards are stock PCBs this is a custom now whether or not it's awesome and great I don't know but it weighs a ton it has many heat pipes it clearly has a lot of RGB take a look at the back that is gorgeous when I tilt it so you can see it in the light tilt it this way it is it's like a grey it's almost like gunmetal gray Wow and it's got the MSI logo here which will display properly when it's inside the bush this thing is heavy ok do you remember this this connects oh it's got rubber feet this is rubber and this is rubber it's got two rubber feet that go right there on the card this screws into your computer and so when it sits in your machine it rests just like that and it acts as a support bracket to help hold up your card it provides additional reinforcement which I'm really glad to see cuz this thing I need to weigh it I need to weight and compare it to the others it's actually hurting my hand to hold it it is that much heavier than some of the others it really is the EVGA is closest this is eight hundred and fifty dollars it is fifty dollars more expensive than a couple of these other cards if I was buying a card it would be either the EVGA or this the EVGA if you can't take the height and the width and the length and the weight if this is just too big for your case get the EVGA if you've got room wow I like it is it worth the extra money that's personal choice do you like the style and design that's a personal choice I would buy this card I would buy this over the zotac and over the gigabyte and over the azouz I don't I would buy it over the EVG if I've got room if I'm in a tight case I'd buy the EVGA but if I've got rhombus this is it custom PCB to eight pin connectors it's got the support bracket I like this card can you hear me gushing yet I'm glad I did all these in one video I've never done this before let me know in the comments if you like this and in just a second I'm gonna put them all out on the desk together usually I unbox them one at a time and you never see a comparison now you're gonna get to see them all back-to-back and while this is a very long video and I could certainly edit it and cut it up I could I could have done this much quicker when I eventually hire a video editor these will probably get done much quicker because we could film a lot of raw footage and then she can make it all pretty and cut it up and and and a full-time editor and the same content in this video will be shrunk in terms of length but with the same because I suck at editing anyway I've rambled on long enough let me cut this and put them all on the desk here are all five cards laid out I was actually looking for my last set of anchor stands and I can't find them I know I've got ten of them but I can only find eight so I have to hold the zotac card EVGA ZOTAC in my hand the gaming extra Oh on the desk in front of me the asou saan the desk next to it and then the gigabyte on top of the gigabyte box five RTX 2080 graphics cards four thousand dollars worth of GPUs I will do some testing with these I will do a witch RTX 2080 should you buy I'll test the coolers especially gorgeous MSI down there but I will test them all I'll get temps and I'll get overclocking numbers I'll do a video on them then I'll probably end up having to sell two or three of them to pay Visa back and then I'll probably keep two of them for ongoing benchmarking and tests in comparison to the 10 series comparison to the 9 series lots of people test against the 10 series but the question is if you have a gtx 980 for example or a 980 TI is it time
